A different, healthier approach on diet, focused on offering a stress-free and healthy alternative, while countering the usual myths about fat and diets.
This book is short and sweet and to the point. You could easily read it in one sitting. It gives info on several different types of dieting and why those methods don't work. It then goes into the philosophy that has recently surfaced- eating good fats like avocado, nuts, and olive oil is actually a fantastic way to lose fat. I found most of the recipes at the end of the book to sound absolutely delicious, which doesn't always happen in these health books. I would eat any of the recipes and plan on adding several into my rotation on my weight loss journey. I recommend this book to anyone looking to eat better for their health and who may want to shed some unwanted weight.
This book is the companion book to the author's fitness app Exerscribe (it also seems to be identical with his first, self-published book called Nutriscribe). The diet is meant to complement his workouts. And that is the biggest problem with this book: I don't know if this book is really useful for somebody that doesn't use the app or that doesn't do a similar workout. The second problem is that there aren't any pictures of the recipes. It would have been better if the author had included at least a few photos.
That being said, the rest of the book was okay. He gives a short description on how the human body uses and gets energy, gives a little bit of theoretical and scientific background for his diet, an explanation why he doesn't think that paleo diets are ideal and an overview of dietary supplements and how to take them. And of course he claims that this diet is going to be perfect for almost anybody ( I can't think of any books about nutrition that don't make these claims). I liked that he included a 28 days meal plan including shopping lists. This could be really helpful if you want to start eating according to his diet.
If you want a short and compact explanation of a high fat, whole food, gluten-free diet that still includes enough starch and carbs, this book might be for you (especially since the kindle edition is only 2,99). Or if you use the Exerscribe app, you might also like this book. But if you are looking for a more comprehensive book about nutrition and health, this is not the book you're looking for.
Very interesting read and some great ideas to try out. Well worth the read for better health.
Another diet book - unfortunately didn't hold my attention and i did give up half way through
Good info on the new research on fat! Some things I had heard before but I'm sure there are others who haven't.
Even though this is a subject I'm interested in I found this book very hard to get through. It was way too technical and so hard to understand and follow. I ended up feeling confused.
This book is an interesting take on diet and fat. It was perhaps a little too technical for me but I did get the gist of it as I read further in the book. I liked the suggested menus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A great deal of research went into the book and the author is definitely an expert on this subject but it was still a little too technical for me. I was given this e -book in exchange for my honest review.
The first part of the book is a lot of science and biochemistry, but it's needed to back up the rest of the book. If you have an exercise / sport science degree, you'll definitely just want to skip to the second half of the book. There are recipes given and a lot of information that will go against everything you've heard in the past twenty years from mainstream nutritional media...
