I've enjoyed Vanessa Kelly books in the past and liked the ideas of following the illegitimate royals that she created in this series but this book was just okay.

Three Weeks with a Princess was a very enjoyable and fun read! I loved how the heroine in this story isn't a helpless nor spoiled "Princess", and can hold her own against the vileness of the ton. Vanessa Kelly has done a remarkable job again and I continue to recommend the books that I've read by her. Just Wonderful and quite Unique!

Three Weeks With a Princess by Vanessa Kelly was a let down for this reader, I am sorry to say. It dragged on too long for me, and a lot of things said about or in this book was misleading in my opinion.

Lia Kincaid is the illegitimate daughter of a prince and a courtesan. Her grandmother shared the same profession as her mother. Lia is made to grow up in the country raised by her grandmother who became mistress to the Marquess of Lendale. Growing up there, Lia befriended Lendale's grandson (or great nephew I can't remember exactly), Jack Easton, and established a school girl crush on him. He was always kind to her despite her lineage and looked out for her well being.

Unfortunately for Jack, upon the demise of both his father and grandfather (or great uncle) he must assume the title of Marquess and take over the responsibilities that come with it. In his opinion, this included Lia and her grandmother, much to his own mother's despair. However, since the late Marquess didn't provide anything for his mistress in his will, Lia and her grandmother believe they need to make their own way. Lia determines her only options are to either become an actress (as her mother has recently become) or a mistress. Jack does not like either option, and continually insists that she stay at his country home and he will continue to care for her and her grandmother.

I found I did not like barely any characters in this book. Lia was annoying in her determination to ruin herself. She didn't even try other potential options which may have been possible if she got lucky and put forth some serious effort. Jack and almost every other male in this book were just huge dictators trying to force Lia to do what they believed was best for her. Most of the female side characters had spunk but were also making dumb decisions that seemed completely silly and unrealistic.

I also disliked the flow of the story. Many of the scenes I felt were unnecessary and contributed to an overly lengthy book. I never really felt either character "fall in love". Lia has loved Jack from childhood which is just mentioned as a backstory, and Jack just seems overbearing, and I never felt his over protectiveness turn into love. I was looking forward to this story being a little more involving royalty as the title suggests a princess type is involved. It really didn't come into play very much at all. The three weeks timeline also really didn't match. I know I am nitpicking but it honestly it bothered me.

I am not really interested at all in continuing this series. I may give Vanessa Kelly's work another try someday, but with something separate.

*3.5 stars

For the most part I enjoyed this story but I felt that it was missing something. I think my main issue was that the romance part felt lacking. I did feel love between Lia and Jack, but not of the romance variety, more of the love between a brother and sister/old friends. Which makes sense since Lia grew up thinking that Jack was her best friend, & more importantly, her only childhood friend. Lia grew up on Jack's uncle's country estate because his uncle kept his mistress in a cottage, which would be Lia's grandmother. Lia's grandmother and mother were notorious courtesans. When the uncle dies, Lia feels like she has no other choice than to become a courtesan herself, but Jack has other plans for her. Although, Lia feels differently because Jack's family hates the Kincaid women. I enjoyed the story more when Lia meets her family, and there were other incidents in the story that I thought were cute or funny. I still never felt the romance though. If it had been a story about them, Lia's family, and maybe a different love interest (Sebastian), then perhaps I would have loved this book more.

The Regency Royals were pretty prolific, with illegitimate children here there and everywhere. Sometimes they were acknowledged, but often not. Sometimes the mothers were from "decent", others were not. Three Weeks With a Princess features an unacknowledged girl from a less than noble family. After all society expects if her grandmother and mother were courtesans then Liz must be one as well. However, Lia Kincaid is a sweet, naturally kind young lady who has always lived in the country with her grandmother who has a long time relationship with the Marquess of Lendale. Lia's favorite times are when her best friend, Jack, the Marquess' grandson visits, three weeks at a time.. As time passes, Jack inherits a financial mess and the responsibility for Liz and her grandmother. What will Jack do when Liz announces she needs to support herself and her grandmother by becoming a courtesan? Will they ever realize they need and live each other? What about Jack's mother who hates all things Kincaid? Although I enjoyed this book, I liked some of the author's previous offerings better. This is an enjoyable read, but Lia seemed just a little too naive and after like a ninny a good part of the time. However, one of best aspects of this book is the frequent appearance of Gillian (from My Fair Princess), now the Duchess of Leverton and Lia's cousin. Gillian is one of my all time favorite book characters so more Gillian is good.

This is the second story in the Improper Princesses series and I’ve loved it as much as the first. Once more Vanessa Kelly’s characterization and plot manage to make me laugh and care for the protagonists.

Lia and Jack’s back and forth totally made this read engaging and enjoyable for me. Their “friends to lovers” story was sweet and heartwarming and I liked every minute of their growing romance.

If you’re looking for a story well written with an intriguing plot, peppered with witty dialogue and steamy romance, look no further. This is it.

I loved Lia and Jack's story. Friends that fall in love are always one of my favorites!

Lia and her grandfather have been living off of the generosity of Jack's uncle. When he dies and leaves no provisions for them, Lia is determined to find a way to support herself and her grandmother. Jack on the other hand, feels like Lia and her grandmother are his responsibility. He doesn't think that Lia should run off to London to be an actress, let alone find a protector.

I loved the bantering between Lia and Jack. I had me laughing out load throughout the story. I've really enjoyed this series and am excited to see what Kelly has in store for us next!

I have really fallen in love with Vanessa Kelly's books. I literally can not wait for more! I was a little hesitant because of the title, and I don't usually like the princess type leading ladies, but this was a pleasant surprise that has gotten me hooked! I want more! Will probably reread the series each time a new one comes out.

Lia was raised by her grandmother in the country. Unfortunately, she is the illegitimate daughter of the Duke of York, her mother is an actress, and her grandmother was the long-time mistress of the Marquess of Lendale. When the Marquess dies, he leaves Lia and her grandmother with nothing. Jack has inherited an estate in dire straits. On top of it, he and Lia have been friends forever, and he adores her Grandmother. Being the honorable man he is, he feels responsible for them as well. Everyone has different ideas of how they should proceed, including Lia, who takes off for London. Jack, of course, must follow to try and protect her, which leads to a merry adventure for the two.
This was such a fun story! I absolutely adore Lia and Jack. In their adventures, they discover not only each other, but Lia discovers a family that is determined to help her find her happiness.

I really wanted to like Three Weeks with a princess, but I just didn't. There really isn't a reason-- it just wasn't the book for me.

As always, Ms. Kelly's writing is excellent. I enjoyed the story and the character's development while reading Three Weeks, but I had a hard time liking Lia all the time. She was a bit too stubborn and it was hard to understand her need and her persistence to become a courtesan. Jack was a perfect hero and he helped me to come to terms with Lia during the telling of this story.

Some days all I want to do is read a book that tugs at the heartstrings and makes me cry, and on other days, I want a fun romp that makes me laugh and sigh in delight by the end of the book. Three Weeks With a Princess fits into the latter category. It's a flirty and fabulous friends-to-lovers tale. I'm such a sucker for that trope in romance these days, and I'm so glad that my first Vanessa Kelly read satisfied that yen!

The bickering and teasing between Lia and Jack has been the norm for their entire lives. Living on the Stonefell Hall estate since she was a girl, she's only really had one friend and that's Jack. The progression from childhood pals to something a bit more, seemed so natural. In a historical romance, you can be assured of a HEA, but how the h/H get there makes the book a keeper or a dud. Hooray for adding another read to my keeper shelf with Three Weeks with a Princess!

The characters are likeable, the passion sizzles, and there's that little bit of danger thrown into the mix that reminds me just why I love a good ol' historical romance. I have the teeniest nitpick concerning the ball where Jack and Lia realize there might be something a little more to, life than friendship. It was a smidgen forced and awkward, but overall didn't detract much from the pace and flow of the story. Three Weeks with a Princess is a first for me by this author and I'm excited to see what the next Improper Princess story brings! 4 stars!

I loved "Three Weeks with a Princess" by Vanessa Kelly! Five stars all the way for this sweet, passionate and engaging story!
Lia believes Jack is her best friend, she grew up on his uncle's estate, her grandmother was the uncle's mistress, and has always treasured their friendship. Lia, of course, realizes she holds feelings that aren't exactly sisterly affection for Jack, but she doesn't believe that he will ever feel the same.
Jack believes Lia is his best friend. He loved going to his uncle's estate and visiting her while he was growing up. Unexpectedly, his uncle dies and he is the new lord of Stonefell and responsible for the care of Lia and her grandmother, but neither Lia nor her grandmother see it that way.
The women in Lia's family are infamous, her grandmother a once highly sought after courtesan and her mother the same. Lia doesn't want to go down the same path as theirs, but what is a bastard daughter of a courtesan to do? Jack, of course, wants her to stay at Stonefell, wants situations to remain exactly as they are and never change, but she can't do that to Jack or to his future bride. Lia takes off to London to make her way on the stage or find a career, even if it isn't savory, and what does Jack do? Why follow her of course, determined to convince her to return to Stonefell where she belongs.
Lia and Jack dance around each other quite a bit. Lia knows what she wants, it's Jack, but doesn't think he will ever feel the same and she refuses to stand in the way of his happiness. Jack is a little slower to realize that he has less than sisterly feelings for Lia, but when he does, nothing will hold him back from making her his.
As I said, I love this book. Characters are likable and their feelings and situations seem real. There is quite a bit of passion and steamy love scenes between Lia and Jack and a bit of intrigue as well. Highly recommended! Vanessa Kelly writes lovely stories - read them all!

One would expect from a novel called Three weeks with a princess to read a story where the hero spends three weeks with a princess. He does spend some time with the princess, but I wouldn't say that the title matched the content of the story. It was rather misleading. To be fair they might have spent three weeks together, but it wasn't the focus of the story. This is the sum of the story I felt I was reading.

Lia has to support herself and asks Jack to teache her how to be a proper mistress. When that fails she moves on to become an actress. When that also fails she decides to follow the path of her mother and grandmother and become a courtesan. Aaaand guess what! That plan also fails. And somewhere between she meets new people who are related to her in one way or another and want to give her a good season and chances to marry. Basically, almost all the book is Lia and her plans to support herself since Jack's economics are poor and he needs to marry a rich girl to save whatever can be saved.

I felt like we got to see Lia spend more time with the secondary characters rather than with the hero. In the end, I feel like they were forced to be together for the sake of giving the book a happy ending. In the beginning, Jack was pushing Lia away and later she was pushing him even if she was saying that she loved him. The book could have been better if Jack and Lia had spent more time together instead of having him show up wherever she chose was the best place to support herself. I wanted some romance.

The reason why I am not giving the book a lower rating is that for once I felt like I was reading the story of a woman who was living in the 1800's and not some weird version of that period where things are too modern. The secondary characters were good and they supported the story perfectly. I wouldn't recommend this book, but I would recommend the first in the series. It was much better.

Book two of the Improper Princess series a spin-off the the Renegade Royals series, this series focus' on the illegitimate girls of the Royal Dukes. Lia is the daughter to the Duke of York, her mother an actress and she was raised by her grandmother who was the mistress to the Marquess of Lendale. This was another great improper princess story, Vanessa Kelly is witty and entertaining always able to find ridiculous and hilarious situations for her characters to get into.

Upon the death of the Marquess of Lindale Lia and her grandmother learn that he left nothing but a few paltry items to them in his will. Now Lia worries about what will happen to her grandmother and herself. The have lived in a little house on the estates property for practically all of Lia's life and now Lia knows she's going to have to find something so she can support her grandmother and not have to rely on the charity of the new Marquess.

Jack Easton is the new Marquess of Lendale, and while he has assured Lia and her grandmother a place for as long as they need Lia is realistic she knows that when he marries no proper English Lady is going want a former mistress and a bastard living somewhere on the estate. Jack and Lia have been friends since the first time they met as children and Lia has been in love with him just as long, now with the happy little bubble being popped Lia makes the decision that she must move to London and become an actress like her mother. Lia's mother doesn't want her daughter on stage and both her and grandmother agree that Jack needs to put her under his protection. That's the last thing Lia wants as much as she loves him she can not play second to Jack's wife when he finally decides to marry, but that won't stop her from asking him to help her learn how to flirt and find another lord to become his mistress. It seems that everyone but Jack realizes how much he loves Lia and it isn't until it's almost too late before he realizes he doesn't want some other woman only Lia will make him happy.

Overall, it was a great read. I loved the characters and I love the appearance of the Renegade Royal characters. It was a funny and romantic story I can't wait for the next one.

Three Weeks with a Princess
by Vanessa Kelly

Lia Kincaid the illegitimate daughter of a Duke and a notoriously famous courtesan is in a pickle. For as long as she can remember they have been living on the estate of the Marquees of Lendale out of sight but barely on the fringes of society. All she's ever wanted was Jack Easton. That could never be reality he's the new Marquees and he needs to marry a woman of respectability and money.
She has none of the qualifications, she's from a long line of notorious courtesans-The Kincaids!
Maybe she has no choice but to follow in her mothers and grandmothers footsteps.....if only she can persuade Jack to be her first.

Jack Easton wasn't ready for all the duties of his title the many responsibilities have him at his wits end. The only bright side is Lia Kincaid and the mind boggling kiss they shared! It's the only thing he thinks of, until she has the harebrained idea of becoming a courtesan and he's to teach her all the pleasures of becoming one after all if she can't practice with her best friend she'll have to find a way on her own.
The thought of another man kissing Lia has Jack seeing red and behaving irrationally!
From the first page of this wonderfully written story it captures the attention, its witty, charming and entertaining.
Fast paced with twists and turns and intriguing moments!
My favorite part was the masquerade ball, I loved the way Jack lost control, the pages caught fire and the attraction between Lia and Jack consumed them in flames. His body and heart realizes what his brain is slow to grasp-that he's madly in love with her!
An extremely enjoyable read I highly recommend Vanessa Kelly books she never disappoints!
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest unbiased opinion.
