Second chance romances are one of my favorite kinds of romances, and I LOVED this one! It’s the second book in the small town of Charmed, Texas. This one is Carmen’s story, and what a story it is. She’s an emotional wreck when she runs into the love of her life who shattered her into a million pieces years ago. I mean she literally runs into him in the grocery store, so you can imagine this is going to be one heck of a story, especially when the chemistry still sizzles between the two of them after all these years.

Sully has returned to Charmed to put down some roots. He’s spent many years traveling with his family’s carnival and now he wants to leave that nomadic lifestyle behind him. Maybe, just maybe, he has also come back to win back Carmen’s heart. Too bad she wants nothing more than to leave her small town behind her. Yes, it’s one heck of a ride to see these two find their HEA. Both are passionate and stubborn, so there are a lot fireworks, metaphorically and physically!

Both characters were very realistic and flawed, with a great sense of humor. Those of the very reasons while I fell in love with both of them. Throughout the pages of the book, they do hurt one another, but it’s out of self-preservation. I really hoped they could finally let their walls down and let each other in completely! I liked the romance between them, but I also loved the fact that the deeper story was about forgiveness, discovering what makes you happy, and reaching out and grabbing it.

“But fate is something else. You don’t tempt it by planning things to go wrong.” ~Sully~
“Fate is what we make it.” ~Carmen~

I loved going back to Charmed to all the quirky characters. They always make me feel right at home. It was wonderful catching up with Lanie and Nick from the first book, and I loved how Lovelace gave us a little glimpse of Allie and Bash’s story that’s coming up next. I can’t wait!!!! As with the first book, my only regret was having to leave the people and the town of Charmed. I can’t wait until the next book coming in the fall! YAY!

It hasn’t been so long since I’ve left Charmed, Texas so it was an even easier read since I knew the people from the previous book. And though this may not particularly hold true for other series, it was a good thing in this case. This is a small town with varying characters residing in, and each one of them have something little or other changing in the books. I know I’ve had my thoughts about both reading the story from one character’s point of view and the general tone of the previous book, but having read this one I can tell that now I truly get the kind of storytelling Sharla Lovelace has. This is a romance book that’s for sure, but it’s also so much about the characters who’re telling us the story. Which is why, I believe, we hear them along the way, all the way.

We know Carmen from A CHARMED LITTLE LIE, she was the lawyer and friend to that book’s heroine. Clues were given to us as to the kind of person she was but more importantly the kind of romance she was going to have in her own book. It was intriguing because she had once loved and lost. When she was young she fell in love with the boy whose family ran the carnival that visited their town. They fell fast and hard, but it was short lived because the boy left. With no goodbye. Fast forward fifteen years, and we have a bit bitter, a bit sad and a lot lonely Carmen who has a nasty divorce behind her and a lot of gossip still ahead. Then enter Sully, the boy she once loved but left her, and people start talking, hearts continue breaking, and emotions run high.

Since Carmen is the narrator, she was the one I got to know best among everyone. And while I might’ve had my reservations with it like I did in the previous book, I now know this is just the way it is. After I’ve made my peace with that, with the fact that I wasn’t going to get to know Sully as well as Carmen, I was able to focus solely on their romance and Carmen’s development. Because develop she did. She started out as a woman whose life was on hold, one who had a dream but not the courage to take the step to live it. But while I’ve read, she faced her past, her fears and her future, and made a grab for herself. I found a lot of myself in Carmen, minus-sadly- the sexy carnie whose spirit always wanted back to her.

I’m adding four spoonfuls of this story into my hodgepodge. I want you to know, and this is the best part of why I think I’ll really like these stories, that these books are not just about the romance but even more so about the women who tell them. So, you go Carmen. And right now, I can’t wait for the next one, where Alli will talk to me all about this thing that she has with a certain bee breeder.

Fans of Lovelace’s A Charmed Little Lie will remember meeting Carmen Frost, Lanie McKane’s best friend and the town lawyer. We learn through Lanie that Carmen had fallen in love with a Sully Hart, a young man from a traveling carnival, but something happened to make him leave her behind with no goodbye. She ended up marrying and eventually divorcing the local golden boy. Now years later, Carmen is preparing to leave Charmed on an extended vacation, she’s just waiting for Lanie to return from her honeymoon so she can say goodbye. Only, when she runs into her long lost love at the local grocery store, she learns he is the owner and developer behind a large entertainment annex being built on the outskirts of town.

Sully Hart is finally laying down roots…in Charmed.

What did it matter that the love of my life, the man who shattered me into a million pieces in the stadium parking lot, was standing in front of me fifteen years later, looking good enough to lick from head to toe?

I was better than that.

I love Sharla Lovelace’s contemporaries. They are often filled with humor, angst, realism, romance, and a strong dose of growth. We aren’t given a fairy tale but an honest look at relationships and the problems that often come with them. Lovelace makes her characters colorful and sometimes exasperating in their stubbornness, bad tempers, and drama fueled decisions. Combine that with witty narrative, tangible chemistry, and a small town setting and you have an enjoyable fast read.

Family, second chances, and forgiveness are the basis on which this small town southern romance contemporary is built upon. Though a series, each book can be read as a stand alone. I’m a sucker for small town romances. I often enjoy the gossipy nature of the inhabitants that permeates these stories with their biting commentary, long memories, and general unforgiving nature. Toss in the southern flair for dramatics and you are usually guaranteed to have a good time. Usually. Not so much in here.

Carmen Frost grew up in the trailer park with her mom and has never left town beyond going to college. The product of a single mother who was constantly changing jobs and men, Carmen’s own wanderlust is not a surprise. When she first met Sully, all her dreams seemed to come true. Her was her sexy bad boy prince with the ability to get her as far away from Charmed as possible. They clicked instantly and spent all their time together. Until it came time for the carnival to leave. Carmen waited for Sully to come get her and take her with him but he never showed up and the carnival left town for the year. After that ill fated summer romance, Carmen shut down all her dreams and went the route expected of her.

A decision had to be made.
I made mine.
He made his
They weren’t the same.

Sullivan (Sully) Hart grew up in his father’s carnival. He went to school until the 4th grade then was homeschooled as is common in that lifestyle. His mother left not long after that and Sully was left to help run the carnival and raise his younger brother. Meeting Carmen and spending the summer with her was everything to him and he struggled to do that right thing. Now he is back and finally fulfilling his own dream.

“See that?” he asked, pointing inside at the dishes and bowls and glasses. He looked in there too, and the look of pride on his face was astounding. “That’s living.”

We don’t get as much from Sully as we do Carmen because this is all told from Carmen’s point of view but you can;t help but think Sully is definitely more mature and stable of the two. Lovelace does a wonderful job though of showing us what happened as she pushes home the point that MAYBE Carmen’s attraction was more rooted in what Sully represented then Sully himself. Carmen wanted adventure and to see the world while all Sully wanted was a real home. Their disastrous first relationship was a cumulation of many things. Age, class differences, and fear. Sully loved Carmen but he honestly felt his nomad existence wasn’t meant for her. She has destined for great things and he wasn’t going to stand in her way.

“Back in the day, you said he was this vibrant…something or other.”

“Rebel.”

“So, my question is…did you fall for the guy or the lifestyle?”

“What?”

“Was it what he did or who he was that grabbed you? Because, we all grow up. We change what we do. But whether he is travelling the country or planting bushes, he’s still the same guy.”

Though touted as a romance, that isn’t the central theme of the story. Lovelace centers primarily on Carmen and her issues. There was a lot of anger in Carmen and it lasts most of the book. Carmen is angry with Sully for what he did fifteen years ago, she’s angry at her mother for her father not staying, she’s angry at her ex-husband for not being who she wanted him to be,…but most of all she’s angry at herself. Carmen realizes, deep down inside, that a majority of her unhappiness is fueled by her.

“All you ever wanted was to get out of here.” My throat burned. “Yes.”

“And all I ever wanted was a house with no wheels that can’t be broken down and and moved in an hour…or less.”

The romance was very low key as Carmen and Sully have numerous hurdles to climb. The chemistry was weak, their interactions more melodramatic than substance, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that Sully would have been alright if he and Carmen didn’t get back together. He seemed to angle more for a peaceful co-existence. Lots of angry kisses but one smexy time *sigh*

The main conflict’s resolution is predictable but felt rushed and disorganized. And odd with the random paranormal aspect that was tossed in at the end and the fact that advice from a virtual stranger suddenly solves everything for Carmen.

While I liked Lucky Charmed, it wasn’t my favorite of Lovelace’s work. It felt rushed, not as well developed as her previous works, and polarized towards the heroine. Certain secondary characters were tossed in willy nilly for drama but didn’t really have a purpose beyond that.

Regardless, I am looking forward to book three, Once a Charmer, which features two locals whose long time friendship is about be tested in every way possible.

A second chance romance between Carmen and Sully. Both have returned to Charmed, the honey making capital of the world, lol, except Carmen hates honey and small town life. Sully was a carnie but is now ready to settle down with the love of his life, Carmen. They had a history in their late teens, Carmen has always loved Sully even through her failed marriage to the mayor of Charmed. Can they figure out how to open their hearts for each other again?

Love the small town of Charmed, great characters. Lots of humor and romance that will keep you turning the pages. The perfect summer read.

I started looking forward to Lucky Charmed after reading the first book in the Charmed in Texas series by Sharla Lovelace, and this book is a delightful addition to the series!

Carmen Frost grew up in the town of Charmed. But she’s always wanted more from life than the place with "World Famous Honey" offers, especially after being the subject of a town scandal 15 years ago. One that hasn’t been forgotten in the least, by her or the town…

Sullivan Hart grew up going from town to town with his father’s carnival. He spent time one summer 15 years ago falling in love with Carmen, but broke her heart - and his own - when he left her behind. But now he’s done with that life and wants nothing more than to settle down in Charmed with Carmen by his side. Between the town’s long memory, and the walls Carmen has built around her heart, Sully doesn’t have an easy road ahead of him.

I love a good second-chance love story, and when it takes place in a small town, with its assortment of quirky characters (of which there are plenty in the town of Charmed), this book was practically irresistible to me! I loved Carmen’s hilarious inner dialogue, and hurt when she remembered the heartbreak she experienced when Sully left without explanation. However, because the story is told through the heroine’s point of view, it’s hard to get a read on the hero, and I would have liked to know more about him and his past 15 years.

I was a little nervous about how the story would go once Sully and Carmen started interacting more. For me to believe a heroine is going to forgive the hero for hurting her so badly in the past, there needs to be a very heartfelt apology and a darn good explanation. Forgiveness shouldn’t be given just because the hero makes the heroine all twitterpated again. There was an apology, but not much explanation (until later), and I feared Carmen’s plans to take a long trip would be derailed because of Sully’s good looks and her hormones. Thankfully they weren’t, and I think the story is stronger because of it. No one likes a heroine who is wishy-washy.

This was another very enjoyable and entertaining read. Second-chance romances tend to be a little on the heavier, more serious side, but Lucky Charmed was mostly humorous and lighthearted. I like Ms. Lovelace’s writing style and the characters she creates. As with the first book, I’m finishing this one wishing I could get my hands on the next one in the series. When an author can build up my interest in another character, I know she’s done a good job, and I’m looking forward to Once a Charmer!

In the town of Charmed nothing is ever forgotten and no matter what you did it effects your whole life. Carmen learned that the hard way. Her scandal is still talked about even though it was years ago. She just want to get out and move on with her life. When the past comes back to haunt her it turns Charmed upside down, Sully came back to be part of small town USA and to find his girl. He is not expecting her to cause him numerous problems, however he is just going to try to win her back.

This was a cute book and it has an HEA.

Given that this is only the second book I’ve read by Sharla Lovelace, it seems a little strange to say that losing myself in her words feels a lot like coming home. But it’s true. There’s a warmth and coziness to her storytelling that draws me right in and it basically feels like comfy jammies and soft fluffy blankets and I pretty much never want to want to move. I just want to keep reading these words forever, especially if they keep drawing out these ooey gooey, happy-hearted feels.

I felt like the tone of Lucky Charmed was a bit more serious than that of A Charmed Little Lie. This story felt heavier to me, more intense and definitely more angsty. I loved every heart-tugging minute of it. This is second-chance romance at its best – and I adored the time I got to spend with Carmen and Sully as they sorted through their baggage and embraced their forever.
Carmen is a spitfire and I loved her fiery spirit. I loved that Ms. Lovelace didn’t gloss over all the feelings that must occur to heal from love lost and then to open your heart back up once it's returned. It’s a turbulent journey, but it’s also a beautiful one. My heart throbbed and ached for these two wonderful characters, and then there’d be moments of this delightful unexpected laughter that added a perfect balance to an otherwise heavy storyline. It was completely lovely.

I adore Charmed, TX and all it’s quirky, colorful, hot mess citizens. I love the teeny tiny element of “magic” that have been delicately laced into both these books. It adds a slight air of mysticism to a book full of heart and the end result is something that I literally can’t get enough of – I’m already hungry for more (and God – BASH? YES. PLEASE!). This series is a complete hit for me and I cannot recommend it highly enough! ~ Shelly, 4.5 Stars

My 4 star review is posted on Goodreads and will be posted on blog and social media upon release and links will be updated below at that time. UPDATED 7/18/17

We met Carmen Frost in A Charmed Little Lie as she is Lanie's best friend in Charmed, Texas. She is a lawyer and kind of an outcast in town due to a "scandal" in her late teens and because she is now divorced from the town's golden boy. She is also outspoken, harsh, and sarcastic. She is not a fan of small town life and has a romantic yearning to leave for adventure. Her heart has never been the same since her first love left her behind.

Sully Hart lived a nomadic life since his father owned a carnival. He has traveled the world, but longs to settle down. So now he is back in Charmed and building a stable entertainment complex. He wants roots, a home, and the girl he left behind back. But people in small towns have long memories and he is not exactly popular. There is definite opposition to his return, including that of Carmen

She is overwhelmed by his reappearance, and is hurt, angry, and still feels betrayed. She might also be just a bit obsessed. She doesn't want to be, but he is hard to resist. He alternately seems sad, broody, mad, disappointed, and impatient. He's got his reasons for his choices, but she doesn't know them. So he is basically the subject of all of her ire. She's already had her time in the town spotlight and does not want to be there anymore, But Sully's reappearance, drama with her ex, some shenanigans, and a nosy town put her center stage again. And the town does not hide their feelings for him either.

Sully is intense, charismatic, and feels deep. Carmen is fiery, smart, and strong-willed. She never really escaped the effects of their past, and has serious trust issues. He just wants to stay and have a real home, while she's got wanderlust and is wanting to leave. She's got up walls and is terrified of getting hurt again. And he is equally afraid that he will not get another chance. They punish themselves and each other in various ways and at times both fight the charms of Charmed. Their feelings were developed in the past, and never really burned out. so they are an intense pair. They have good chemistry, drive each other crazy, and make each other feel alive. I have to admit that it was a bit frustrating too due to the communication issues and stubbornness. I might have found myself talking back to the characters a few times and calling them out.

One thing about Charmed is that it is full of quirky characters and antics. There are some seriously interesting town dynamics and strong personalities that add to the drama and humor. This one had quite a few secrets lurking under the surface and some were big ones. The past and present collide, and many of the town members either have a front row seat or were involved in some way. It is told in Carmen's point of view, but I could still appreciate Sully's feelings and needs. Sometimes good intentions can have bad outcomes. Sometimes you have to look elsewhere before you can see what your future holds. This is about fighting for what you want, finding your home, and throws in some faith, fate, forgiveness, and healing.

This is a cute, antagonistic, passionate, and humorous second-chance small town love story. Lanie and Nick from the first book are back. Allie and Bash have also been side characters in the series and it looks like they will get their chance in the next book, Once a Charmer.

Carmen Frost has wanted out of Charmed as long as she can remember. She hates honey, hates the carnival, and hates small town gossip. She is weeks away from taking a much needed vacation and just driving away for a while.

Sully Hart hasn’t been back to Charmed in many years, not since leaving one night with his father’s carnival and cutting contact with Carmen. Now he has returned with plans to build roots, build an entertainment complex, and hopefully rekindle things with the only woman he left behind.

Their situations may have reversed with time, but these two are often feeling the same opposite pulls of home and heart. Will the feelings between them be enough to overcome time, their history, and their opposing dreams?

I loved returning to this small town. There is less interference from the town in general than there was in A Charmed Little Lie, but several of the eccentric town members make appearances, including a new reclusive character. Carmen’s reputation follows her, as people choose to forget that she and the town’s golden boy/mayor have been divorced for some time now. I love how she finally stands up to the town’s opinion of her, and found the feisty way she reacts to town gossip entirely entertaining.

This was a great summer read. It has heat, hope, and second chance tension. It is a quick, low drama read despite the time and hurt between them. I look forward to Bash and Allie’s book, Once a Charmer, coming in October.

Lucky Charmed by Sharla Lovelace
Charmed in Texas #2

Small town romance in Charmed, Texas is filled with friends, caring, sharing, and potential for the future. I loved the first book in the series. This book did not get to me like that one did but it was still a very good read – especially if you like second chance at love love stories. I am not one to believe in second chances having dated people in the past, left them and then tried again – the things that bothered me when we parted bothered me when we were together again…ah…let me think a bit further… In THIS second chance at love both Sully and Carmen loved and parted but neither really had anything that bothered them about the other upon parting so…perhaps their second chance is more likely to happen than mine ever were ;)

The two seem to have NOTHING in common at the beginning of the book. Sully wants to settle down and Carmen wants to fly away. Both have “feelings” about the past. Carmen is still angry. The community believes Sully did Carmen wrong BUT they also think that Carmen did her husband, Dean, wrong. There is angst and drama. There are words spoken in anger. There are secrets revealed that both needed to hear. It is, on second thought, a very good book although I still think I liked book one better. I am eager to read Allie’s story and having read the hook at the end of this book wondered if she might end up with a new man in town only to read the blurb on Goodreads and decide that perhaps she will end up with Bash the Beekeper after all. I guess I will have to wait till book three comes out to find out for sure.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books-Lyrical Publishing for the ARC – This is my honest review.

Lucky Charmed is noted as being the second book in the Charmed in Texas series, however, I have not read the first one and that did not impact on my enjoyment of this book at all, so this can definitely be read as a stand alone.

This was a lovely small town second chances romance. I really liked the pacing of the story and felt that it flowed really well. The writing was good and Sharla Lovelace delivered a really charming and witty romance.

As this is a second chance romance, the main characters, Carmen and Sully already had a back story and emotional connection, however, while I most definitely did feel the chemistry between them, I wish that we had a little more interaction between them than what we got as I felt 15 years was a long time to be apart and just bounce back together. What I did love was this story was packed full of wonderfully quirky supporting characters that really padded out the story.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and will definitely now go back and read the first book.

Drama. DRAMA. D.R.A.M.A. Angst and drama tend to go hand in hand with second chance romances. Sharla Lovelace balances her stories with levity, sexiness and heart, bringing out all the feels. Lucky Charmed is a story about deep but young love that was crushed when Sully left Carmen behind to continue with his traveling carnival life without a word.

Charmed, Texas is friendly with its small town charm, a vast bee population and honey production. But Carmen Frost hates honey and the townsfolk aren’t so affable towards her. The latter because she divorced the town’s golden boy who she never truly gave her heart to. Prematurely relieved that the Lucky Hart carnival isn’t passing through town, she finds out its previous owner and the boy who stole her heart is moving into town. Reviving her dreams of traveling without a destination, Carmen Frost cannot get out of there fast enough. Because imminent encounter with the older, sexier, more mature version of Sully Hart will surely open up old wounds that never really healed and dig up unsettling emotions she doesn’t want to feel.

Tired of life as a traveler, going from one place to another, without roots and traditions Sully is ready to buy a house, settle down, plant flower beds and a woman to share it with. But the girl who took his heart over a decade ago wants just the opposite and there’s also the fact that he broke her heart all those years ago. There’s still hope though because the connection between them is still there, proven by the fact that no matter how much they push each other, they can’t seem to get their desire for one another in check. Can they get over their past to hope for a future together?

I love small town backdrops where the sense of community is heightened, and having everybody know everyone else add complexity to the story. But I loved Lucky Charmed because it has a combination of elements that made it worth reading. The writing is fantastic, the characters are appealing and maddening in the best way and the love story is steeped with emotion. It’s a second chance story about love lost. About feeling discarded and having to continue on with life. It’s about facing your past and having the mettle to forgive and take a chance in love.

The attraction that instantly revived the moment they lay eyes on each other got my pulse quickening with angst and delight. The story builds on their tension moving their relationship forward while I frantically flipped pages.

Sully and Carmen met one summer while the carnival was in town. Seventeen year old Carmen’s wanderlust rapidly fell for Sully’s nineteen year old world travel confidence. And even if they were young, the loved each other zealously to the point of rashness. When the carnival left, she’d leave with him. But when the day came, Sully left without a word or a note. He came back each year with the carnival though. But the damage and pain he’d caused forced her to move on until he decided to come back and stay for good.

No matter how much time had passed nor the remaining heartbreak, the strength of their feelings had not diminished. The lust and love right along with the hurt and pain. But there are many factors at play now and in their past. I won’t spoil you though because every emotionally charged and drama filled page in this book should be enjoyed from start to happy ending.

Lucky Charmed is book #2 in the Charmed in Texas series by author Sharla Lovelace. It is a standalone contemporary romance with a great balance between humor, antagonism, steaminess, and heartfelt emotions. It is told from the heroine’s point of view with a happy ending.

Lucky Charmed serves up the perfect recipe for second chance romance. Add a dash of nostalgia, mix in a tablespoon of heart and then turn up the heat. Sharla Lovelace has a gift for understanding the true definition behind the word home. In order to love, we have to appreciate every moment good or bad. Only then will we have lived enough to hold on to our happily every after. Simply sentimental.

Excellent small town romance! Charmed, Texas is a wonderful small town where honey rules and the locals have long memories! Too bad Carmen Frost hates honey and would just like to put the past behind her. She may have once been married to the town's adored mayor but her heart has only gone to one man - Sully Hart. Too bad he took it with him when he left town without a word. Now Sully's back making all kinds of promises but Carmen won't fall for him again! Right?

I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Don't miss it.

Back in Charmed and things heat up now that Sully is back in town. We got a glimpse of turbulent love story between him and Carmen now we get to it. A lot is going with the new development project add being in the same town with the guy who broke your heart is never easy. The boy who got away and the girl left behind.

I liked seeing Carmen's thoughts she didn't have it easy growing up and it's still that way. Small town gossip can be mean, I would be annoyed and frustrated at people but she handled it. She did so well for herself despite it all, kickass lawyer. I can truly feel her heartbreak and conflict over Sully's return. I wasn't too keen on the guy in the start but he won me over little by little. There's a lot of whys and things unsettled and many years past with those hanging.

We also visit with Lanie and Nick plus the other interesting characters. I really I didn't like Dean much but I feel he has a story. I found the characters real and refreshing in their realness. There is a lot of emotions there for sure. The tension and angst. I definitely rooted for them with all that pent up feeling between them. Lot of hurt and misunderstandings to overcome for these too. It's pretty sad when you find out the the reason for Sully leaving. Will first love prevail?

I love the cover for this it's very appealing and charming. This series is pretty cute and enjoyable, not too heavy. Funny and sweet is always a good combo. I really want that next book though it looks so good.

I love this little town! We met Carmen in book 1. She is a lawyer, wants to escape small town life and had one of the greatest experiences with love 15 years ago with a carnie named Sully.
They had a beautiful 3 weeks together that one summer until he left without a word leaving her broken hearted and with a hole in her heart.
15 years and 1 divorce later Sully is back to establish roots in the town he never forgot and Carmen just wants to flee and guard her heart.
I loved their interactions, the push pull and the chemistry. I wanted Sully's pov at times just to get in his head though I did like experiencing it from Carmen's pov too. I think it would have been an even better reading experience getting the dual POV.
I enjoyed this second chance romance but even more so I love this town, all the secondary characters and the possibilities for more books in this series and more HEA's.
Sharla Lovelace knows how to write smart, witty, fun romance and readers looking for a great summer read that will give you laugh out loud moments and butterflies in your belly from all the feels should pick up this book :)

I received an ARC of this novel in exchange for my review. I am a huge Sharla Lovelace fan and have read most of her books so I was really excited to preview a copy of her latest, Lucky Charmed. Sharla writes characters that you want to hang out with, and Carmen Frost is no exception! Carmen fell in love with a carnie named Sully Hart when she was just 18 years old. Despite the matching infinity tattoos, Sully left her behind in Charmed, Texas. For years Carmen has wondered what happened to him and why he left her behind. Until the day he shows up back in town-to stay. Now that the ball is back in her court, she has to ask herself was it Sully that she wanted? OR was it the chance to leave her small town life behind that she wanted? Either way, the reader is in for a treat when they pick up this book!

Oh, I really loved this book. It was a roller coaster of emotions. This is the first book I have read by this Author. I was really impressed and hooked from the beginning.

In this book you have Carmen, who was left in a parking lot 15 years ago, waiting for her love, a carnie, to pick her up. Only to be heart broken when he doesn’t show. Then you have Sully, boy who left said girl 15 years ago. One day she bumps into him, like literally bumps into him, in the grocery store. She is angry and speechless. He is now a grown man, who has grown up well. Then she finds out he had bought a house and is laying down roots, while she is running away. Can Carmen figure out what she wants in life? Or will she be the one running away for good this time?

I really loved this story. It is definitely a different type of plot than most romances. The characters have a lot of emotional baggage to work through. They are strong minded and interesting. I cried several times right along with them. I love a good romance.

I did not realize this book was part of a series. It definitely can be read as a standalone novel. I am definitely going to check out more books by Sharla Lovelace. I am a new fan!! If you like a good romance and don’t mind a sappy rad, then this book is for you.
