Orphaned as a young girl, Brigitte de Marnier has learned to live by her instincts. Which doesn’t explain why she accepts protection from a soldier in the service of the enemy crown. But something about Drem Ap Dafydd has her leaning into his strength, and surrendering to his intoxicating kiss, even knowing he is duty bound to destroy her. As a newly appointed Knight of the Swan, Drem is eager to prove his allegiance to the English crown in the battle against France. But in his sheltering arms, beautiful Frenchwoman Brigitte arouses in him another instinct—to love, honor, and protect. Then Drem discovers his beloved has a price on her head and he must choose between his vow—and his heart’s desire
This is the first story I read from this author, so I’m not sure if I needed to read the first book in the series, but I enjoyed it all the same. It is a fast-paced adventure with two main characters that I really liked. It was more than just a standard historical romance. I highly recommend.
**I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
Unfortunately, this book didn't work for me. Too slow and couldn't connect to the characters. I tried several times to get into it, but no luck at all.
Brigitte learns to trust and accept protection from Drem, a knight of the enemy . He must decide to trust his heart or his duty. Settle in for a good medieval tale and knights to warm a cool evening.
Ebook from netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.
I really liked this medieval romance. Brigitte is an orphan who created a family from a group of thieves and Drem is a soldier trying to prove himself. The story is fast paced with lots of suspense and drama and the story held my interest throughout. A good read.
Thank you to NetGalley for proving an ARC copy of this book.
This was a medieval romance story of Brigitte de Marnier and Drem Ap Dafydd. This book is second in a series but can be read as standalone in my opinion. It is an enjoyable read.
'Knight Quests' by C.C. Wiley is Book Two in the "Knights of the Swan".
I feel this can be a stand alone book. This was a medieval romance story that told how Brigitte de Marnier and Drem Ap Dafydd. Brigitte was an orphan who ended up a band of thieves for a family. Drem who is trying to prove himself after what happened with his father has been trying to earn his postion as a Knight of the Swan. A romance between these two should be...but love finds it way...as it did with their story.
Overall enjoyed their story.
"My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."
Knight Quests is another medieval romance from C.C. Wiley. It is the second of the series about The Knights of the Swan, a secret organization of knights. This story I did not find as compelling as the first story, but nonetheless was unwilling to put it down. The two main characters were interesting, both in their own way. Brigitte de Marnier is an orphan who was left alone and found a new family with a group of thieves. Drem Ap Dafydd was a welch archer for the King. Due to his family history (treasonous father) Drem feels he needs to earn his place as a Knight of the Swan and to his allegiance to the King. Brigitte is french. Drem is Welsh and his fighting for the English king in France. Loving Brigitte is against all the rules…and of course the romance is hot.
I like the element of mystery with the swan that kept appearing and disappearing. I like the question of Brigitte’s father. The element of a siege and the horror of war certainly seemed to read true to the times. I admit, I am waiting to read the next book in this series by C.C. Wiley.
I received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review. The main part of the book deals with war between the English and French on French soil. The book has a dark part to it involving war, death, hunger and danger. Bridgette has learned to survive and then meets Drem and finally comes to love him. If you like books on war you would like this one.
