House Rules is a hot and sexy tale of stepping out of your comfort zone, and realize everything is not as it seems!
House Rules is the story of Kennedy Lane, a quiet curator of a Chicago museum, which was was a far cry from her overweight teenage years. But here Kennedy was, entering a fancy London Hotel, about to undertake a date, one she agreed to 2 years ago, but little did she know, hers would be dancing at Carleton House, one of the City's exclusive gentleman's clubs!
But the last person she ever expects to see in London, is Sean Fraser, her best friend Olivia's, older brother, and the guy she has always had a crush on! But Kennedy figured it was just a coincidence, but then Kennedy gets to find out HE is the man she was going to dance for!
House Rules is a short and spicy tale, that I loved from the first chapter. The storyline was new to me, and I enjoyed the whole concept of it. The character's were relatable, though I will say I wish it went into detail on a few more things, that new year's party, maybe a flash back to a a meeting between Sean and Kennedy as teenagers.
I give House Rules 4 stars!
Oh! This packed a punch! So much heat in such a short book, but it didn't feel gratuitous or superfluous at all! We meet Kennedy, 25 year old museum worker who lives in Chicago, as she's about to embark on a sexy journey to live on the wild side for a bit, thanks to a pact she made with her friends. Her mission is to embrace her sexy side and dance at a fancy gentlemen's club in London. She gets the shock of a lifetime when she runs into her childhood crush (and best friend's brother) Sean who just happens to be staying in the same hotel she is. Coincidence? I think not!
While the book was deliciously short, it was just the palate cleanser I needed after reading a dud, AFTER reading a 5 star read that left me with a book hangover! It was fun and oh so sexy, but heartfelt and sweet too. Between Sean's sexy as hell dirty talk and alpha demeanor and how relatable Kennedy was as a character - House Rules is just the perfect amuse bouche of a read! I give it 4 out of 5 stars but only because I sort of wish it was longer so I could have MORE!
As always Ms. Cathryn Fox delivers a story well written and hot! I couldn't put it down!
It burned my Kindle! Entertaining, short and sweet! The book is a nice read if you are in the mood for something hot and with nice and well rounded characters!
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book provided by the publisher via NetGalley
House Rules by Cathryn Fox was incredible!!
As soon as I heard the synopsis, and then saw the cover I knew that this was going to be an unputdownable novel. Sean and Kennedy were two characters who had an undeniable chemistry and connection. The pull between them was electric and you could feel that through the pages!
Go and pick up this novel for yourself today. I cannot say enough great things about this book. I definitely want to read more from this author in the future!
4.5/5 Stars!
House Rules is scorching hot! Kennedy is off to London to dance at the Carleton House, one of London's most exclusive gentlemen's clubs. All because 2 years ago on New Year's Eve, she and her friends came up with the crazy idea that when each turned 25, they'd allow one of them (to be kept a secret) to send her off to celebrate her birthday in epic style, to have "an epic adventure--where the words "epic" and "sex" can be interchanged." What Kennedy didn't expect was to bump into her best friend, Olivia's, older brother, Sean, at her hotel when she was checking in. She's freaking out because she's always been in love with the man, and he's gotten even hotter since she last saw him. But, she figures he doesn't recognize her. She looks different than she did as a gawky teen, the teen he rejected when she mustered up all her courage and offered herself up to him with a sweet "Be Mine" candy heart. Sean does recognize her, though, and the attraction he's always had for her has gotten even stronger. When he sees her at the Carleton House, he's blown away. And the encounter between the two at Carleton House is off the charts hot, even if they don't even physically touch each other.
When they fall into a seriously sexy relationship, one where Sean, like the dominant, dirty, bossy man he is, takes charge of her, her pleasure and her body, she's ecstatic, but she knows it's only temporary. After all, she knows he doesn't even recognize her, and she's set to head back to Chicago soon, while he lives here in London. She underestimates Sean, though, and how far he'll go to not keep her in his bed, but to play the game she thinks she's controlling. Not only does he know who she is, but he's been in love with her as long as she's been in love with him. But, only he gets to make the rules for their dirty little game. "You're in my territory now, Kitten. This is my playground, and you're my toy. I get to play with you any way I want. Only my rules apply here."
Kennedy is all to happy to fall into line, because she knows epic sex is guaranteed, but she needs to guard her heart, so it doesn't get broken the way it got broken when he rejected her all those years ago. So she plays his sexy game, lets him be so bossy that he gets to make up dirty rules where he ties her up, spanks her a little, uses naughty toys on her and makes her body sing. But, her heart of course, can't help but go and fall even harder, so she does the smart (safe) thing, and bails after their tryst in London, and leaves Sean high and dry. But, will he chase after her? Will he allow his sister to help him get back the woman he's always loved? Read and find out, you won't regret it because House Rules is steamy, well written and Kennedy and Sean are a smokin' hot couple who are well drawn and realistic. If best friend's older brother or second chance romances are your things, then House Rules should be on your TBR list!
House Rules by Cathryn Fox is book two in her Dossier series and it is an erotic romance novella that is as spicy as it is sweet.
The novella features the best friend of Olivia (heroine from book 1), Kennedy Lane. Kennedy never expected that the New Year's Eve pact she made with her friends would lead to her getting a dossier that brought her to London with an invitation to dance at a gentleman’s club. She a was quiet museum curator, for goodness-sake! Dancing in close to nothing in front of strange men was so not her and Kennedy is near to backing out of the pact until she sees her childhood crush, Sean Fraser. Thinking that he probably doesn’t recognize her from the teen that she was, she’s unable to pass up on this chance of maybe being able to finally get him to notice her even if she is pretending to be someone else.
Sean Fraser, an investment banker, who always gets what he wants. In London on business trying to land an important client, he is surprised to see his sister’s best friend Kennedy Lane, whom he hasn’t seen since high school. It may have been years since he last saw her, but he’d recognize her anywhere. Then he is even more surprised when he sees her dancing on a pole in a private Gentleman’s Club. However, when he approaches her, she pretends to be someone else. Not sure of why she is playing pretend, he goes along with it, unable to resist being with the woman he’s always wanted, even if it’s just for the weekend. However, the feelings they’ve kept hidden for years come bubbling to the surface and Sean realizes he wants more. She was off limits years ago, too young at the time, but here and now… nothing was stopping him and she was finally going to be his.
Cathyrn Fox continues her Dossier series with a fun and fast-paced novella that is not only very hot, but it also filled with sweet moments especially when the story goes into Sean’s point-of-view, and we realize Kennedy was not as invisible or a nuisance to him as she perceives herself to be. I also liked how Kennedy was relatable and easily likeable. I liked reading about Sean and Kennedy and the ending was so cute. Kennedy’s reaction when she sees the brown bag Sean brings to her office was funny. You’ll have to read the story to find out why!
Overall, House Rules by Cathryn Fox was a great erotic romance that had both a beautiful love story and scorching heat. I happily recommend.
(I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book I received for free from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my open and honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.)
looking for a short and sexy read? house rules, the second dossier novella, might just be the thing for you. kennedy lane made a deal with her friends to follow the instructions on a mailed dossier, no questions asked. she's always been the shy, retiring type and the sexy clothes and instructions to dance at a gentleman's club are definitely outside her comfort zone.
when she runs into sean fraser, her childhood crush, she thinks maybe now is her chance to get some closure on her feelings for him. he never looked at her twice when they were younger, but as long as she's playing pretend, maybe she can drum up the extra confidence to make her fantasies come true.
sean doesn't know why kennedy lane is in his hotel. but he's pretty sure his sister, her best friend, is in on it. in his book this counts as permission to pursue the girl he always thought was off limits. he's not sure what's going on but he's not going to leave london without finally having his chance with kennedy. and maybe finally having that long overdue conversation about how he's always wanted her, always found her sexy, and maybe she's the right girl for him.
**house rules will publish on june 5, 2017. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/entangled publishing (scorched) in exchange for my honest review.
Book 2 of the Dossier series and it was exactly what I expected. If you are looking for romance or emotional attachments you are looking in the wrong place. This is meant to be a fast read. The dossier is a deal made between friends they each have a name and the fantasy wanted and on their job is to make this fantasy come true for their friends on their twenty-fifth birthday.
Kennedy's fantasy comes to life in true realm she is not expecting anything and is pleased to dee the man of her dreams. This story is hot and naughty.

Holy hotness. This book was not really what I was expecting. It was better!!! This is my first book from Cathryn Fox, and if this book is any indication, it certainly won't be my last. Oh God, it's so hot!
Sean... *swoooooooon* I kinda hate Kennedy. Not really, I'm just jealous. LOL! The chemistry between Sean and Kennedy was off the charts. I loved seeing Kennedy come out of her shell. And Sean's a dirty, dirty man and I loved him. That mouth... *fans self*
Anywho, this was a very quick read at only 90 pages, but good God did it pack a major punch. I was a little nervous that I wouldn't get the ending I wanted, but it was very neatly tied up. I, being totally selfish, wish it was longer, because these two were burning the pages up. I would have liked to see them a bit more into the future, but I am still happy with where it ended.
I can't stop thinking about this book and this will for sure be on my re-read often list. This is a definite must read!
Are you looking for a nicely-written novella that is full of sexual desire? Then pick up a copy of House Rules by Cathryn Fox, pour yourself a snifter of brandy, and devour this erotic tale.
Museum curator Kennedy Lane has been in love with her best friend's older brother Sean since childhood. For Kennedy's 25th birthday, her friends send her off for a weekend in London to experience an adventure and mind-blowing sex. Her adventure includes dancing at a Gentleman's Club, where Sean, an investment banker, just happens to be schmoozing a potential client. They both recognize each other almost immediately, but neither of them acknowledge it. Kennedy's stage name is Kitten, and because Sean has always had a thing for Kennedy, takes it upon himself to seduce her completely. Their weekend of hot, steamy sex is amazing, and their newfound relationship evolves into much more.
This novella is replete with scorching sex in the shower, a limousine and a hotel room. Sean is an alpha both in and out of the bedroom and his commanding ways are seductive. Overall, this is an erotic romance with a happily ever after that will leave you grinning from ear to ear.

Holy Hotness!!!! I thought it would be fun. I thought it would be cute. I never expected to need to buy batteries...okay, that's a lie. I didn't go out and buy batteries. I have plenty here at home. (No- those have chargers...) I digress.
House Rules is the second of the Dossier series. I missed the first but will definitely be amending that oversight. Hot damn! This novella is filthy fun that should not be read in a public setting...unless that's your thing. Steamy hot fantasy sex with the guy you've been in love with since a teen...Sign me up.
I may have stumbled upon this fun little novella but Cathryn Fox knocked me off me feet with the burning hot lust, naughty naked time, and absolutely perfect ending.
I sincerely hope that there are like 50 girls in this group of friends because I don't ever want this series to stop! Confused, it's ok. Two years ago, this group of girls decided to do an epic 25th birthday adventure. They dropped names in a hat and selected the friend whose adventure they are sponsoring. House Rules is Kennedy's turn. (Where were these girls when I turned 25...just saying! Maybe not mention to the hubs...)
All ridiculousness aside, this novella is HOT and has more lust than anyone person should be left with. Grab your partner, partners, toys, whatever because you will need an outlet for this build up!

I received this ARC copy of this book from NetGallery for an honest review. I give this book 5 stars. The storyline between Kennedy and Sean was well written and has a happy ending. It started when they were kids she has loved him all her life. Her and her best friend make a pact to have a great adventure on their 25th birthday. She get a dossier before her birthday and thinks there was a mistake because it has stuff that she would never wear. She starts her grand adventure to London, when she gets to the hotel she see Sean and he ignored her. This book has a steamy love story that was a long time coming. A must read to see how it ends.
'House Rules' by Cathryn Fox is book Two in the "Dossier" series. This is the story of Kennedy Lane and Sean Fraser. I have read the previous book but this is easily a standalone book with about 90 pages. Kennedy and her friends made a pack of sorts where they each would pick a 'out of your comfort zone' with a 'good chance to get laid' type setup. Now it is Kennedy's turn and it leads her to a Gentleman's club. Kennedy is about ready to bail on this package deal when her young school girl crush comes in. Kennedy knows he will never know who she is and so she thinks to act on her feelings for him and pretend to be someone else. But Sean knows who she is and plays along with her...but how will this end.
Quick, hot and a great second chance at love story.

From the moment Kennedy Lane first laid eyes on Sean Fraser she fell head over heels in love with him, he on other hand had no idea that he was even on her radar. She fell under the younger, annoying, slightly awkward friend of his little sister, and that is where she has stayed ever since. That is until she wanders onto the stage at the Carlton House...
Sean Fraser has harbored a secret little crush on his little sister's best friend for years, but he decided early on that she was off limits, and that he would never make a move on her. But now that she is standing before him, on the stage at the Carlton House, he can't seem to think of one reason why he shouldn't make a move...
Once again Ms. Fox has created a gem of story, House Rules is tantalizing, naughty, and oh so delectable... I gobbled it up it one sitting!! The moment these two wandered onto the page I couldn't help but get wrapped up into their enticing story, I was instantly addicted and set out on a mad dash to devour every word. They took me on quite the spicy little adventure and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it! Highly recommend this one, it's sure to leave you completely satisfied.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title.
As always Cathryn Fox delivers with her intricate storyline, erotica sex scenes, and endless wit. I haven’t read a Fox story to date that I didn’t like and House Rules just adds to that long list. I didn’t know this was the second in a series when I started it and I felt that I missed out on little nuances because of it. That being said, you can enjoy House Rules without having read book 1, Private Reserve, though I would recommend reading it as well. I know I am.
House Rules is a short erotic read with a hot hero and low key naughty heroine. My only complaint is how short it was!
This series is smoking hot!
Kennedy along with a group of her friends each put their names in a hat for each to draw another person's name that they will send on an adventure. They each plan the trip from location down to what clothes are worn. They have no idea until they get to their destination what to expect and who or what may be involved.
Kennedy finds out her trip involves London's most exclusive gentlemen's clubs and her friend's older brother Sean who she's had a crush on for years.
Sean doesn't know what to think when he sees Kennedy in the gentlemen's club or why she's given him a different name, but he's up for the game as long as she's willing to play by his rules.
Scorching hot novella from beginning to end. Characters are pretty developed for such a short read. The author gets right into it and the sexy times are super steamy. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a quick, satisfying read!
Kennedy is in a rut. She's a responsible good girl caught in the throws of boredom. When a birthday dare leads to a naughty reunion and a walk on the wild side, Ms. Kennedy goes bad in a big way. Not only does she lose her inhabitions, she gains a better understanding of herself. As a woman and a soul mate. Cathryn Fox never disappoints with her sassy heroines, smooth heroes and sensuous stories. House Rules keeps the fantasy alive with it's electrifying scenarios and inferno stirring characters.
Short and sweet - Straight up erotica. Hot as heck with a decent story too! LOL
This is one fun and spicy hot read. Perfect for a quick hour or two of light reading - heavy on the spice. Great story without a lot of fluff. Just get down and dirty. I love it! Cathryn Fox writes great steam!
