Title: Blackmailing The Bad Girl
Author: Nina Croft
4 unexpected stars
Alright, I'll admit it - i chose his book first because of the title. Seriously, it pulled my attention and then the blurb sealed the deal. I knew i had to read this book - it sounded incredibly interesting and since i hadn't had a chance to read a novel written by Nina Croft (or at least i don't believe i did....), Blackmailing The Bad Girl seemed like the perfect opportunity to pop that specific cherry. Quite frankly, i'm more than happy that i did since it wasn't like any other book i've had the chance to read so far in my reader/blogger 'career'.
4.5 sexy dreams
Nik and Summer's story intrigued me. I'm no stranger to blackmailing type stories, but rarely do i enjoy them, mostly because that aspect is soon forgotten and i lose that intriguing factor, but no so with Nina Croft's story. Nik sure knows how to hold a grudge and to make you almost feel bad for Summer... almost. Then again, Summer's reasons for doing what she did will simply pull at you. I did enjoy this book by Nina Croft and I know that i'll be looking forward to more from her in the future!

I totally wanted to read Blackmailing the Bad Girl for the title alone. Seriously, the title made it sound like it could be a lot of fun. Then I read the blurb and said hey lets try it. I wasn't a fan of Summer. I thought she was a little whinny, and mean to Nik. Had she told Nik the truth she wouldn't have been in the mess she was in. Now Nik. OH MY GOSH I LOVE HIM! Seriously. He was kind of mean to Summer at first, but then again she did rob him, and left him without a trace. However, he finds her and offers her a chance to change her life even though she planned on doing so. Summer has a serious hang up on the rich people, and her impressions comes from her mothers experiences on life. Poor Nik has to prove to her not all rich guys should be painted with the same brush. Anyway, Nik is a super sweet guy, and he truly wants to help Summer.
While I was reading Blackmailing the Bad Girl I forgot that it was a Brazen book. This probably one the more tamer Brazen books I have read. I did like story. I really like Nik, because he starts off wanting to be vindicated, but gets to know Summer again he wants to be with her. While Summer isn't if she can trust Nik. However, I did love the ending. That was probably one of the best things about the book. Nik stole my heart with what he did for Summer. Anyway, if you are in the mood for a little blackmail, you might give Blackmailing the Bad Girl a go.

This story was different and interesting. It was a fast read for me. In the beginning I understood why Nik would want to use blackmail and get his revenge. However, Summer wasn't completely truthful with him and his want of her from their time together 4 years ago overrode everything about her. I wanted to like them together and while the scenes were steamy, I sadly did not connect with the characters. Their story was entertaining, but I never fell in love with this read. This was just an "okay" book to me. This was my first Nina Croft book and I am interested in reading other books from her.
This is a go to author for me.
This time around I have conflicting feelings on this book. Okay so we can't hit a home run every single time. With that said, I will definitely be around for the next book.
I liked the story a lot. The character of Nik was a life line in the story. It had it's ups and downs and I couldn't figure out in which category to place it. Second chance? Enemies to lovers?
I guess in the long run it didn't matter. This wasn't my favorite of her books but I still enjoyed it and will continue to follow her for many more books to come.
In this one the tables are turned it would seem as something different where the girl is the one who is bad. I do not normally read many of this type of storyline anymore but with the difference I thought why not. Summer is the one that made the wrong choices but one of those choices also wants to work it. Nik is coming for his with him thinking things will all go his way. Funny about stubbornness it usually will bite them in the butt as it does with the both of these two. She mixes the heat and humor well with the two of these characters churning it out. You have to see what is to become of the two of them. Fortunately for me this also results in a smile and satisfaction by the time I finish.
Nik plans to get revenge on the girl that stole his money. After finding out she has been in prison for the last two years and is getting out he is waiting at the gates for her. The attraction between the two is undeniable will Nik get the payback he is looking for? This is read is fun and sexy, I really liked both characters. An entertaining read.
Nina Croft’s Cutting Loose book two is even better than book one. Once I started Blackmailing the Bad Girl, I did not want to stop reading. The office setting of one who had been looking for Summer for almost three years, grabbed my attention, never letting go until the very end.
This series is some of Nina Croft’s best. I can say that having read some of her science fiction, paranormal and contemporary romance books. While there is not paranormal in this series, the writing is magically strong like the Melville Sisters, another personal favorite series of hers. There is suspense, romance, regret and forgiveness all roll into one incredible story.
I recommend this to fans of romance with an edge of suspense.
An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley.
'Blackmailing the Bad Girl' by Nina Croft is the story of Nik Masterton and Summer Delaney.
Summer went to prison after being charged with embezzlement and she was just getting out when Nik was parked outside to pick her up. Summer had worked for Nik once at his company and they both started to have feelings for one another. But Summer, who at the time was going by Sarah, up and left Nik and the company. It appears she also took some of the companies money but Nik wasn't able to find her until now. Nik thinks to get some revenge against Summer for taking the money and also for how his ex-wife just wanted money from him too. Nik now thinks that is what all women want. Summer has had a hard time growing up in and out of foster care with just Danny as a friend. But Summer as sworn to change her life and now Nik is trying to settle this thing between them.
This book had some ups and downs but overall I enjoyed it!

Blackmailing the Bad Girl by Nina Croft was full of interesting characters and the plot line was unique. Summers character was interesting and Nik was super sexy. I'm interested in reading more in this series of what happens with the secondary characters. I appreciate the opportunity to read the book and Thank Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for a honest review.
What’s it About? A couple of years back CEO Nik Masterton thought he had found a woman that didn’t see him as just a pile of money until she stole a lot of it and disappeared. He’s spent a lot of time searching for her and has finally found her, in prison. She’s about to be released and he figures it’s time for a little payback. Summer Delaney is determined not to go back to prison so while she had a very good reason for taking money from big companies, she isn’t about to do it again. She wants to move on, start fresh, and stay on the right side of the law. Unfortunately as soon as she sets foot outside of the prison, she comes face to face with one of the men she stole from, the only one who distracted her for a moment from what she was doing. Now Summer is being blackmailed to work for Nik while he decides how to punish her for stealing from him, or for making him care about her, he can’t decide which one is worse especially since there’s still a little matter of that persistent attraction between them.
Overall reaction to the story? The idea of crafting a series around three female ex-cons is a brilliant one and I can’t get enough of Nina Croft’s Cutting Loose series. Having the women be the ones getting out of prison definitely puts a different spin on the term Bad Girls, especially since these three women aren’t the hardened criminals you’d expect. Blackmailing the Bad Girl was a sexy good time with two characters I found totally likable.
Describe the hero in five words: Stubborn. Smart. Caring. Sneaky. Fun.
Did you like him? Yes.
Why? Nik Masterton is the least CEO type guy I’ve ever met. He doesn’t act like one, he doesn’t dress like one unless he has to, and he doesn’t lord it over everyone he meets. That made him super interesting and also explained how he got so close to Summer back when she stole from him. Since Nik obviously didn’t get the memo on how CEO types are supposed to act (Or maybe he did but just threw it out), he was a lot more laid back and fun, he seemed like an everyday guy unless you were Summer Delaney and he was using his considerable wealth to find out information about you and using it as blackmail. That’s when the CEO came out but even then he pulled people in. I liked that he looked after the people in his inner circle even when they drove him crazy, like his mother and twin sisters.
Describe the heroine in five words: Shy. Intelligent. Stubborn. Vulnerable. Loyal.
Did you like her? Yes.
Why? Summer seems like the kind of woman you could knock over with a slight breeze but behind that raw vulnerability and the fear of going back to prison is a woman determined to live on her terms and to make sure that she doesn’t break the law again. I loved that Summer could be paralyzed with fear at the thought of going back to prison but at the same time have a snarky set down for Nik when he pushed her too far. She may have been powerless to refuse working for him but she wasn’t beaten by a long shot. Her reasons for doing what she did are completely relatable and made me wish that there was an entire army of Summer Delaneys out there to right the wrongs of big companies.
Let’s talk about the romance: Nik and Summer met before Summer’s stint in prison and there was an undeniable connection between them then. In the present that connection is still there but combine it with pent up resentments, angry confusion, and time apart and that connection is all but bursting at the seams. These two tempt and provoke each other with minimal effort and while their chemistry is explosive, their emotional connection is just as powerful. Nik isn’t like most guys and Summer is definitely not a typical woman. They played off each other well and the author made sure to pay as much attention to their growing romance as she did to their lust fueled encounters.
How about that supporting cast? Blackmailing the Bad Girl takes place in almost the same time frame as the first book in Croft’s series so it was great to see Summer, Regan, and Darcy hanging out together and seeing the bond they forged while they were in prison. I loved the differences between the three women and how Darcy taught both women how do defend themselves. All three are caring and not hardened criminals by a long shot. They just got screwed by the someone in their pasts.
Click It or Skip It? Click It. The premise for the series is an awesome one and Nina Croft’s way of bringing Nik and Summer’s story to life left me wanting Darcy’s book all the more but at the same time dreading it because it will mean the series is over.
Nik and Summer were made for each other. Good. Hot and spicy.
3.5* Nik hasn't forgiven Summer for making him feel things that he hadn't really ever felt and then stealing from him. So after finding her, he was waiting for her when she got out of prison. Gave her an ultimatum, well technically you could call it blackmailing her.
The attraction hadn't died down, if anything the flames had just gotten hotter. What started out as an itch basically became a raging inferno.
When he finds out why she stole from him and what she did with the money what will he do? Will he be able to forgive her? Do they really have an honest chance to see if a relationship will work for them, are the differences too much?
I wanted Nik to be more alpha than he was, I do love my alphas. He tried to come off as one but just missed the mark for me. Then Summer just didn't quite hit the mark for a great heroine for me either BUT I will definitely be looking for the next book in this series.
Blackmail, revenge and lust collide in Nina Croft's, Blackmailing the Bad Girl. Nina Croft is well - versed at writing equal opportunity stories. She's so good at it, it's difficult to identify the protagonist from the antagonist at times. Summer is looking for redemption, Nik wants revenge, who will be the one left standing at the end of this battle of wills? Summer and Nik generate an abundance of fire, while freeing their hearts along the way. Smart, sexy, sensational read.
book 2 in the cutting loose series does not disappoint, blackmailing the bad girl's summer delaney thinks she's done her time. unfortunately, one of her earlier marks, nik masterton begs to differ. three years ago she intrigued him and then took him for a fool, stealing money he thought she wasn't interested in.
now that she's out, he wants payback. except she has nothing to offer him. she's hidden the money away in a trust for her mother. and she won't risk that being exposed and her mother suffering any more than she has already. even though summer knows that what she did to nik was wrong, she believes he deserves it. not in the least because he never told her who he was. she thought he was the maintenance man, not the ceo. and she hates big business. she's been let down by it one too many times.
of course, he's totally autocratic when he decides that she's just going to work off her debt as his assistant. except he's paying her a salary. and he's really concerned about her welfare. and he can't stop himself from staying close to her. and the embers of that spark that burned between them all those years ago come alight. because the truth is she got under his skin then and she's burrowed deeper into his heart now. and she feels the same way about him.
he's everything she's supposed to resent and hate. but all those assumptions she's made about him, they fall apart the more time they spend together. but how can their lives ever mesh with her past, her crimes, coming between them? it's not that he holds them against her, in fact, he's so ready to forgive her that he knows instinctively that she did this for a noble reason. the truth is, she holds her past against her own future, she knows that she didn't fully pay for the crimes she committed. and going back to prison is something she doesn't think she can survive.
in the end, they will need to trust each other. its a big ask for a former thief and a cynical ceo, but how they come to terms works out so beautifully. i loved summer and nik together. nik is seriously a dreamboat. summer doesn't make things easy on him, but the truth of his feelings is so apparent early on. if his heart hadn't been involved at the outset there is no way he does what he does.
Not a bad read. I liked how it was the lead female who was a little over the top and out of control. Revenge never read so smooth before. If only our hero knew what he was messing with.
Wow this was a really good read. Summer came out of prison to be blackmailed by one of her people she embezzled. Nic had loved her before she disappeared. But he didn't know why. What tangled webs we weave.
I really enjoyed this one. I found the storyline fun, fresh, and unique and while it had it's fair share of steamy sexy times there was much more to the story.
Two years ago Nik Masterton thought he had found a girl that wanted more from him than his money. Was he ever wrong. That was evident when he woke up one morning and Summer Delaney was not only gone but so was a substantial amount of his money. After two years of looking he's found her and sets up his plan of revenge.
A book not to be missed. I highly recommend it.
Summer is a thief who steals for a good reason but was caught and spent 2 years in prison. Unfortunately one of the people she stole from was Nik and he can't forget how she duped him. He's waiting at the prison gate when she's released and he intends to make her pay. Of course he's also attracted to her so that complicates things. Enjoyable romance!
