Sadly the last few weeks have seen me in a bit of a book slump. You know that feeling when you pick up a book and by 2 or 3 chapters in you just know that it is not for you....well I can now officially declare that my book slump is over......whoo hoo.....
I forgot how much I enjoy Joya Ryan's books. She is extremely talented and her books are always like little rays of sunshine. They fill all the ticks for me when it comes to enjoying a book.
I loved the story of Reed and Charlotte and of course little Gracie.....I mean is there anything hotter than a single father who is also *gulps* a cowboy.....yeah I dont think so.
So anyway this book is about Charlotte who arrives in small town Wyoming to help her grammy who has had a nasty accident and needs help around the farm. Charlotte is a city girl, which means her experience with cows and other farm animals is non existent.
Reed is a single father, raising his 5 year old daughter after her mother walked out on them. He has vowed never to introduce other women to Gracie as he does not want her to fall in love with someone only to have them leave her and have her heart broken like he was.
When Reed and Charlotte hook up for one night of pleasure, they do not realize how their lives are about to become entwined. Charlotte does not think she will ever see the sexy cowboy again and Reed assumes she is just passing through. Imagine their surprise when they turn out to be neighbors.
This was a super sweet and sexy book that had me smiling from start to finish. I sure hope we get to see the uncles having a turn for their HEA as well....
Who in their right mind can resist a sexy cowboy? BUT.....a cowboy with a sweet little girl and who will do anything for this child is nothing less than swoon worthy. Gracie's mom left them when she was a baby and Tripp is a super dad and has help from his two friends, Bo and Cash.
Charlotte lives in Los Angeles and works as a web designer. Her grammy lives in Wyoming on a small ranch but is hurt an needs help. So Charlotte is off to help her even though she has no idea what she is doing. I love the way she learns.....there were plenty of moments that had me with a huge smile on my face. She meets Tripp upon arrive and agrees to a one night very heated fling. End of that? No, they learn they will be seeing more of each other and she actually is falling for his little girl too~
This book was told so well that I hated for it to end. Two people afraid to fall yet this is one book I will remember for a very long time.
Loved this story! I have so many adjectives running around my brain to describe Reed Montgomery. Sweet, sexy, rugged, sexy, loving....and did I mention sexy??? He's a single dad running a ranch with the help of his two friends (yep I see more awesome cowboys in the future!). That pretty much takes up all his time so dating isn't high on his must do list. Yet when he meets city girl Charlotte Gram in town he knows he needs to make time just this once. One amazing night is all they get, or at least that's what they think until Reed finds Charlotte talking to his daughter and learns that Charlotte is in town for the summer helping her grandmother and Reed's neighbor after surgery. Looks like more than the weather will be heating up this summer!
I highly recommend this one!
I definitely have to pick more of Joya's books after this one because I loved it! It was a great, sexy, entertaining, funny, romantic read; I'd absolutely recommend it.
I was inevitably drawn by the blurb, a single father who is a cowboy? I simply couldn't resist that, but I was pleasantly surprised by the author's writing. Joya Ryan had an interesting and attractive plot but that would have meant nothing if the writing was off and the reading has a really quick pace, plus its enjoyable and hooks the reader; Add to that compelling and likable characters who have not only a great chemistry but a great dynamic between them, I just love their interactions and how their relationship starts to develop. Oh and you have some great secondary characters too, I so hope they get their own stories!
Just delightful!!
Super cute!
Thank you Entangled and NetGalley for the ARC!
Ohhhh it pains me to only give this one 3 stars as I am a HUGE Joya Ryan fan. Although this book still delivered a fun, quick and sexy story, it was just lacking that amazing warmth and sparkle that I have always felt with this authors other books. She has such an amazing talent to draw you in and make the world around you fade away. Here characters always come to life as if you really know them by the end of the story. A lot of that was lacking in this book and I had to go back and make sure that this was really written by Joya Ryan. I really liked Tripp and his character was what kept me reading forward. His interaction with his friends, Bo & Cash, were expertly written and made me laugh out loud more than a few times. Gracie was an adorable addition to the story and it was heartwarming the way these three cowboys catered to her. Charlotte however just never really captured my heart and her and Tripp together, although cute, just didn't have that special magic that I am used to experiencing with this author. I enjoyed the story line but again was kind of left hoping for a bit more. There was very little angst in this book. I kept waiting for the towns woman who were giving Charlotte all the dirty looks and standoffish attitudes to lash out or try something but that just kind of came and went. The end was wrapped up in a short time and the end was just a bit corny. Overall, not Ms. Ryan's best but I remain a loyal fan.
What a fantastic book! This book was very entertaining. I love Cowboys and romance and this book has both The dialogue was so laugh out loud funny and a nice change from a serious story. The characters felt so real in the story. I enjoyed the author style of writing very much.
Have to tell you my favorite line was: "Mental note: YouTube how to milk a cow."
If you enjoy cowboys, romance and a very enjoy story this book is for you. I loved it, can't wait to check out more by this author.
Received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review by Net Galley and Entangled Publishing.
Single dad raising his baby girl with the help of his two cowboy friends. Did I mention that all three men are sexy AF and looks good in a pair of Wrangler jeans? Ummm, do I have your attention now because in Joya Ryan’s newest release, The Rancher and the City Girl, she has me eager in finding and wrangling myself a cowboy.
Sweet single dad romance for some reason always seem to be my jam. For some reason, I find myself practically always devouring these type of tropes. Maybe it’s the fact that I love reading about those single dads who you know have good hearts and intentions when it comes to raising their kids. And in The Rancher and the City Girl, the number one girl in Tripp Montgomery’s heart has always been his baby girl, Gracie. Ever since Gracie’s mother left, Tripp has been raising Gracie with the help of his two best friends Cash and Bo as all three men run and manage a cattle ranch. With work and taking care of Gracie, Tripp’s love life is nonexistent even though he is one of the town’s most eligible bachelors.
Charlotte Gram is a freelance web designer from California who is in town visiting her grandmother, who is recovering from surgery. On her first day in Wyoming, Charlotte runs into car trouble and it so happens that Tripp was there to help her out. So when Charlotte and Tripp decides to meet up later that night at a local bar, things begins to heat up. Both are wildly attracted to one another and so when they both decided on a one night stand since what are the odds of them meeting again. Well the odds are in their favor as it turns out that Charlotte’s grandmother happens to be Tripp's next door neighbor.
"Maybe he didn’t have to choose between being a father and being a man. Maybe he could have both. Have a woman who loved Gracie and him. A woman like Charlotte.”
Staying away from Charlotte proved harder since every time Tripp saw her, he had so many dirty thoughts running rampant. But when Charlotte accidentally meets his daughter, it scared Tripp because he doesn’t want his daughter to get hurt and form an attachment with Charlotte. Well Gracie couldn’t stay away from Charlotte as these two easily formed a friendship and soon Tripp and Charlotte found themselves forming a different kind of relationship. A relationship that was transitioning from passion into something of the forever kind. But what happens when Charlotte must return back to California, will Tripp be able to let her go? Or will this city girl trade in her designer heels for some cowboy boots and wrangle herself a rancher?
The Rancher and the City Girl was a sweet, sexy, and sultry romance that had that Western cowboy charm. Maybe it’s the simplicity or maybe it’s Gracie and her sweet nature, or just maybe it’s Tripp Montgomery. Well either way, I like to think it’s the culmination of all three as to why this book was an amazing read. Joya did a fantastic job balancing romance and real life emotions especially when it came to Tripp and Charlotte. So if you are looking for a sexy and entertaining read that was hot, romantic, and adorable then I highly recommend you to read this book. Trust me Joya Ryan never disappoints as her stories always have heat and heart.
A good solid story with hot romance. The plot was interesting.
A truly delightful HEA western romance with subtle humor threaded throughout. The banter between Tripp and cousins Bo and Cash is literally hilarious while at the same time thought provoking. The characters are rich in their personalities and are so vivid it is easy to envision the story as it was enfolding. Charlotte, Gracie, Grammy...each character gave such wonderful dimension to the story. The author's ability at bringing these characters to life while providing pure reading enjoyment is such a talent.

Funny, sexy romance.
Charlotte Gram builds websites in L.A., until her grandmother, Wilma Gram, has ankle surgery and needs help with her small farm in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Tripp Montgomery lives on the farm next to Wilma Gram with his two brothers and his six year old daughter Gracie.
On a visit into town Tripp sees a beautiful woman kicking seven bells out of her car and cursing like a trooper, after helping her with her overheating problem (pnarr pnarr) he gets Charlotte to agree to a date. This leads to one of the best lines ever when Tripp's brother walks into the bathroom and says:

“Smells like senior year in here,” Bo said from the doorway of the bathroom. “Scratch that, it smells like prom night senior year.”
. They have a torrid one night stand never thinking they would see each other again, only to discover that they are going to be neighbours for several weeks.
Of course, as a city girl, Charlotte doesn't know what to do on a farm and Tripp as the closest neighbour needs to help, but he is wary about Gracie getting too close to women, especially after her mother left, and tries to keep Charlotte at arms length.
This is a super sweet, funny, sexy novella about opposites attracting. Loved it.
Tripp Montgomery learned a long time ago that you can't trust a woman with your heart, the hard way of course, he thought he had it all and then the woman he loved walked away and left him to raise their daughter alone. If it wasn't hard enough for him to lose her, he is certain it was a lot harder for his daughter, sure he can provide her with everything she needs, but there is one thing he can't bring into the equation, a womanly touch. And while Tripp knows every little girl needs a mama to teach her things, and give her the love only a mama can, he just isn't willing to travel down that road again, and let history repeat itself. But, then again he didn't account for a woman like Charlotte Gram to come into their lives... and once she does he can't seem to convince his brain and his heart to let her go!
Charlotte Gram has a plan, go to Wyoming and help her grandmother care for her farm while she is recuperating from surgery, and then head back to the city where she belongs. From the beginning she had her reservations about wandering around in the country, and tending to her grandma's animals, but once she is there she starts to see the appeal of the countryside... especially the cowboy scenery! Meeting Tripp wasn't part of the plan, sleeping with him wasn't part of the plan, and staying in Wyoming to be near him definitely wasn't part of the plan... but damn if she doesn't want to do it! After a few dances at the bar, things take a hot and spicy turn, and they agree it's a one time thing... but when she runs into him again, she can't help but want to repeat what they shared... only problem is the sexy cowboy doesn't do repeats!!
From the moment I started this one, Tripp had my attention, there is just something about a sexy cowboy that I can't ignore... he had the swagger, the Wranglers, the good heart, and the charming personality ... he was the total package!! With each page I read, the harder I fell for him and his adorable daughter, they were quite the pair, a pair that Charlotte just couldn't seem to escape. As much as she tried to stick to her plan, she just couldn't seem to find a reason to leave behind all she had found in Wyoming... and I have to say I don't blame her one bit!! This story warmed my heart, stirred my emotions, made a me blush, and I thoroughly enjoyed every single second of it!! Hands down one of my absolute favorites from Ms. Ryan!! Highly recommend this one, it is sure to give you the feels and have you looking at cowboys in a whole new light!!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title.
**I received a copy of The Rancher and the City Girl from Brazen and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review**
The Rancher and the City Girl by Joya Ryan is such a fantastic book that you'll laugh and feel how hard Charlotte tries to help her Grammy after she has breaks her leg but she knows nothing about helping her with the farm. Thank goodness for You Tube, and gives each chore a good college try before feeling the agony of defeat. But from the first day when she meets her neighbor, Tripp whose raising his 6 year old daughter in his own there's an attraction that just simmers between them. Even though after meeting later at the bar in town and they take it to the next stage, Charlie feels like she'll never be good enough. But he loves his little girl and will make sure that no woman will ever hurt her again.
Tripp is raising his daughter, Gracie will The help of two friends Bo and Cash. But something is missing, love for both of them. When he sees Charlotte struggling with her overheated car he wastes no time trying to fix it which of course leads to a first date. As she learns more about farming and wonders does she want to stay, Will she stay? Will they stay both are if what they have will work ? As a Lifetime member of Girl Scouts, I love how it was written into the story. I just loved this book and hope that Bo and Cash will get their own stories.
This book was so fun and I loved it. If you like small town stories and single daddy stories then this is a wonderful story. Charlie is a hottie from the city and her car overheats when she meets single dad Reed. Reed was was left by his baby mama and he and his besties are raising her on a ranch. One day he drives to town and meets Charlie whose car has overheated.
He knows she is a city gal and has a one nighter with her because he knows she is passing thru. Charlie is in town to help her grandmother who broke a leg. Charlie feels everyone leaves her so she has decided to just be single forever. After her one night with Reed, she takes care of her grandmothers farm but well you can take the girl out of the city but not the city out of the girl and so she has no clue. But guess who is her grandmother's neighbor?
Yep, Reed and he makes house calls. The two have the coolest relationship ever. Reed tries so hard to resist and not let his daughter get attached and well Charlie falls hard for Reed and small town life. This really was a wonderful story and I loved all the characters.
This was an adorable tale of finding love where you least expect it. Was absolutely swoon worthy. I love how much passion there was but also real life gritty situations. I giggled a lot and felt the pain of the characters. So glad to have Joya Ryan back!
RATING 4.5 STARS
The Rancher and the City Girl is the very first book I’ve ever read by Joya Ryan. I have to admit that it’s the cover that drew my attention at first. It’s pretty widely known that I can’t resist a sexy cowboy story and when combined with a cover like this, how could I resist. Being a new to me author, I was apprehensive but oh my gosh, I fell in love with this one.
First, we have Tripp Montgomery. He is a single father and his adorable little six year old daughter, Gracie, is his world. He runs his ranch along with his two best friends, Cash and Bo, who also help him with Gracie. Gracie’s mom left them when Gracie was a baby. Tripp will never put his baby girl in that position again to be abandoned by a woman. So, he doesn’t date. Tripp is everything you might fantasize that a real cowboy is, well mannered, wears a Stetson, and of course, those sexy wranglers. But he is so much more than a cowboy. He’s a daddy, and thinks nothing of watching Frozen over and over or flipping pancakes in an apron for a fund raiser for his daughter’s girl scout troop. He’s perfect. Well, almost.
Charlotte Gram is a freelance web designer and is living in Los Angeles. She hasn’t been able to get hired on to a large company yet so is having trouble making ends meet on her own. Her grandmother lives in Cheyenne, Wyoming and has a small fifty acre ranch. But her grammy has broken her ankle and requires surgery so since Charlotte is her only relative, she is going to spend the summer helping her grammy run the farm. But, Charlotte doesn’t know a single thing about country living.
This woman was amazing. She tackled every job with gusto with a little help from YouTube. Picture if you will Charlotte sitting in front of a cow that needs milking with her phone running a how to video showing her what to do. Not only did Charlie succeed though, at helping her grammy, she excelled. She was even making lists of things she wanted to improve on. She felt a sense of peace on the farm that she didn’t feel in the city. It felt like home. And the sexy cowboy who’s land was adjacent to theirs and his adorable little girl might have had something to do with that.
On her first night in Cheyenne, Charlie and Tripp met and agreed to a one night stand, no strings, no regrets. And oh my gosh, was it ever a night to remember. So both Charlie and Trip were shocked to realize that they would most definitely be seeing each other again, that it would be hard to avoid each other. Soon, though, they didn’t want to avoid each other. Their attraction grows and deepens, as does Charlie’s feelings for little Gracie. But Charlie has no idea about how to be a mother. Her own parents abandoned her. So how could she ever be what Gracie needs?
This book just stole my heart, both Tripp and Charlie both were so afraid of their feelings but they were perfect for each other. Their chemistry was hotter than hot. They were both longing for a family, for a happy ever after, it just took them both a bit to realize it.
“Was this what happiness felt like? A calm easiness with another person? She liked it. Liked that Tripp, and his home, and his bed, were warm. All the time. That felt like home.”
Loved this book! Charlie is a city girl on her first trip to Wyoming to help her grandmother with her ranch while she (grandmother) recovers from surgery. She no sooner gets to town when she encounters Reed, a very sexy rancher and single father. Sparks fly as the feel an attraction so palpable I could almost feel the sparks on my kindle.
This novel is sweet, sexy, and just so delicious to read that I was sorry when it ended. Fans of the genre will love this book. Put this one at the top of your TBR and add the author to your must read authors' list.
Tripp is a very overprotective father who has been hurt by a woman. He's not ready for that to happen anytime soon again. Charlotte is determined to help her Grammy by taking care of her farm while she's recovering.
Tripp's daughter has an idea of her own. Charlotte and her become friends rather fast, that's when lines start to your.
The Rancher and the City Girl, is a light hearted read.
