I enjoyed the premise of this book. I was intrigued with the male hero being a gigolo and his date being his ex-girlfriend. I was looking forward to this being a fun and interesting read.

Suzanne Rock did a nice job of setting up the story, giving the back-story and getting the two of them back together again. Unfortunately, she did confuse me a few times throughout the story and I had some small problems with the flow of the book.

Scarlett was a bit of a mess. She was feisty and determined then insecure and mousey; sexy and hot then insecure and mousey. She couldn’t make up her mind about her feelings, herself or her business. She gave me whiplash at times and I wasn’t sure what to expect from her next. And, to top it all off, she felt like she was lied to … she was not understanding at all and, I felt, that her feelings were her number one priority and nothing that Gabe could do or say was right. So what if he was undercover, protecting her, trying to catch a killer that had her in his sights … he didn’t tell her that he was a cop and that was the end all and be all in her eyes.

And, Gabe … well, I gave him a lot of credit with putting up with Scarlett’s mood swings. He was just as conflicted about things as she was. He knew that he had no business wanting her, knew that he made a mistake in his past with her but also knew that there was no way to turn off his libido or his heart. He gave her all that he could, knew that he laid his life and his heart on the line for her and all he could do was hope for the best.

Compromise and forgiveness are words that exist in all relationships and I was waiting for that throughout the whole story. Unfortunately, I didn’t get it. Yes, Gabe made a mistake when they were teen-agers. Yes, he didn’t tell her he was undercover. But Scarlett’s spoiled-rotten attitude just turned me off and I felt that there were better ways to handle the situations that did arise.

"Protecting His Interests" was a fun read. Gabe is the sexy undercover agent posing as a male escort while trying to solve the murders of male escorts in the art world. Now who wouldn't love to be his date? The lucky girl is none other than Scarlett, an art restorer and his high school sweetheart. Scarlett has never forgotten her first love, but can you really go back. Gabe needs to keep his mind on solving the murders, but working with Scarlett makes it a bit more difficult. Will there be a second chance at romance for them? The author gives the reader great background and history that smooths right into a story with lots of action, suspense, and intrigue. Combine all of those things with romance and you have a hot sexy romantic suspense story that keeps the reader turning the pages to find that HEA we all look for. I would like to thank NetGalley, St. Martin's Press and Swerve for gifting me "Protecting His Interests". My opinion is my own. This is mine 3.75 Stars!

Gabe has been working undercover as an escort, in hopes of finding out why several high paid escorts have been dying. Gabe is hired by his high school sweat heart to attend an art showing in Maimi Florida. Gabe has never stopped loving her. Scarlet was just dumped by her older boyfriend (who was the main financier for her art gallery) just days before a major showing. She needs this showing to go off without a hint of problems. Gabe suduces his way into Scarlett's heart once again, but does not want to tell her why hs left her in high school. Scarlett has also never stopped questioning why Gabe left her. Gabe made a promose to his father that he would continue the legacy of staying a police officer (working under cover to fignt the crime). The comedy of errrors between Gabe and Scarlett are slapstick funny at times, but the cat and mouse game in the art workd is dangerous. The reader is kept intrigued all throught the book. A must read.

I really enjoyed this action packed, suspenseful romance. Gabe is hot and the steam was fantastic. I liked the chemistry between these characters and the second-chance aspect of their romance.

This was a little different than I was expecting from the blurb. I enjoyed it, but I am not sure if I was totally on board with the idea that someone would order an escort, who happened to be an ex, to accompany her to a major event. I think, for me, I would like to believe that a woman can be successful even if she doesn't have a date. That said, it did work for the plot of the book and it was only their initial meeting that was a result of this, so I was mostly able to let this go.

I enjoyed this overall. There were places I thought the pacing was a little unsteady and there were parts where I felt that it skipped a bit, but I enjoyed it overall. And, in the areas where I thought it seemed a little fast, I can tell what the author was doing, and I think it was intentional.

I enjoyed this title overall, and I do recommend it.

I'm confused on how I should rate this.

I thought this book had potential but I really did not like Scarlett at all. Spoiled and unforgiving is an understatement. Everyone makes mistakes or bad decisions as teens.
Gabe I liked more and actually felt for him. Why in the world would anyone put up with her.

I liked the book but Scarlett made it very hard for me to really enjoy it.

This read has so much going on, steaming hot romance, sexy intrigue and a dangerous murder mystery to solve. Emotional highs and lows abound with every new twist of fate.

Special Agent Gabriel Ferreira is beyond alpha male hot, strong and sexy. He is undercover as a male escort to try and catch a killer. Enter his high school sweetheart Scarlett Bishop as his date for the evening and the world suddenly tilts on its axes. How can he resist her, how can he keep her safe and how will he ever catch the killer with her as such a delectable distraction? .. Loved every heart pounding moment.

3.5 Stars Protecting His Interests is a second chance romance with a twist. Although there were parts of this book that didn’t seem to flow as a whole I enjoyed FBI agent Gabriel Ferreira & Art Restorer Scarlett Bishop and will read more of this series.

This was a good read for me. Gabe Ferreira is an undercover cop posing as a male escort to try and find a serial killer. Scarlett is in Miami to attend a conference and needs a date, she hires a male escort and is shocked to see her high school boyfriend. The story has tons of suspense and drama the chemistry between Gage and Scarlett is steamy. I really liked it.

You have to love the premise of this story, an undercover cop posing as a male escort to catch a killer. From this reverse take on this theme I thought Protecting His Interests by Suzanne Rock would be an enjoyable read and it was. Adding in the second chance trope and the art gallery with some background on art heists, it is a terrific romantic suspense.

The story is well written with likable characters who grew stronger as the story progressed. Scarlett and Gabe worked well together even with the beginning confusion and hurt between them. The romance is heavier than the suspense, but that is not a bad thing. Still there was a twist in the plot that subtly is build up then revealed in the story-line that make it an intriguing read.

Scarlett owns an art gallery and she is in Miami for a showing when her assistant convinces her she needs to bring a date. As she recently broke up with her cheating ex she decides to hire an escort.

Recently a few male escorts have shown up dead so Gabe is working undercover as an escort. He is shocked to find out his next client is none other than his high school girlfriend Scarlett. The family business is law enforcement so he ended things before he joined the academy as he had seen first hand the toll being a cop takes on a marriage.

As they spend time together their old feelings resurface but as they get closer to the killer will they be able to escape with their lives?

This is a story about a second chance with your first love and had a good combination of romance, suspense and twists. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

I really enjoy a romance but love when the book includes a bit of mystery, intrigue, and drama! There were so many connections that Gabe did not see while he was investigating his case. I loved at the end you could see the whole picture and how the “dots” connected.

Second chance romances are fun to read and this one kept me reading it straight through until I finished. The action flowed well, and it was hard to put the book down! Gabe and Scarlett were great together and the ending was great! What an interesting way for them to stay together!

The only plot part that I did not understand was when Bridget invited Gabe and Scarlett to her special auction when she knew that Gabe was really an undercover cop. A cop should be the last person that she would want to invite or did she think he was not smart enough to realize that the paintings were stolen?? Other than not understanding that part, the story was captivating and fun to read.

Gabe is carrying on his fathers wishes, he became a cop and took care of his family. But the personal cost was high, he left behind the love of his young life, Scarlet. Now working undercover on a multiple homicide as a high end escort he can't believe that his next client is Scarlet!

Scarlett Bishop has left her old world behind. She has got rid of her cheating ex and is carrying on running her art gallery. But with a big art event in Miami, she needs some arm candy to distract her fellow art dealers and clients! Gabe is just what she needs.

But as the story unfurls Scarlet and Gabe are pulled deeper into the web of the killer and the murky underbelly of the art world.

Well paced and highly enjoyable story. I thought there was a great mix of action and romance and the story was intriguing. Would definitely read more in this series!

Protecting His Interests is an easy read, if fairly predictable. I did, however, enjoy the twist where the hero plays the role of escort. An entertaining story, but not my favorite.

My thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the opportunity to read and review this story by Suzanne Rock.

The first in a new series for Suzanne Rock.
We meet Scarlett as she's in a lurch looking for a date to an important event. Insert Gabe, the escort whom happens to be undercover cop trying to solve a murder case. What could possibly go wrong?
The story has some pacing issues early on, but seemed to get on track. Scarlett was a little too "I'm not going to take it" whiny for me. Gabe came across as the guy trying to do the right thing. And the steamy scenes Is rate as a 4 out of 5, they escalated into their "relations" quickly and got somewhat inventive.

Protecting His Interests is a second chance romance/romantic suspense with a fun hook. The problem is that despite being loaded with smoking hot sex scenes I wasn’t feeling the love until the very end. It took way too long for the heroine to wise up. The mystery was predictable but enjoyable. I’d chalk this one up as check your brain at the door and enjoy.

While on the hunt for a serial killer, FBI agent Gabriel Ferreira is undercover as an escort. The case has gone cold until a beautiful art dealer hires him for an event. Scarlett Bishop could become a distraction but Gabe is determined not to let that happen. Gabe manages to stay in contact with Scarlett and as the case progresses it looks like Scarlett could be in danger. Staying close to her is no longer an option. For her safety as well as his heart.

Nice romantic suspense read. It's steamy, sexy, and action filled. I did think it got bogged down here and there but for the most part it moved along nicely. Overall a very enjoyable read and one I would recommend.

Fantastic story you can not put down! This author knows how to craft characters that leave you wanting more and more

eh. I didn't really love it. When I read that it was basically Pretty Woman but where the man is the prostitute, I couldn't get my hands on this fat enough. but it really wasn't the case at all so I was very disappointed. Taking that away from the story and I have to say that it was okay but read a little immature. not one I'd probably read again honestly. I appreciate the opportunity to read the book and Thank Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for a honest review.
