The charming tale of the Merry Ghost Inn and it's owners is an engrossing read. On their first guest booking one of the guests is murdered. After the murder, Melanie and Liza Harris snoop on their own because very soon new guests will be arriving and they will need the current rooms. The investigating detective is stymied by the guests refusal to be forthcoming and doesn't seem to care about the urgency for the owners.
The pair uncover clues, a few are red herrings, supplied by the murderer, but eventually figure it out with the help of Oliver the resident ghost. Well told it kept my interest throughout and left me wanting to go read the first and add the series to my 'watch for' list.
I requested and happily I was granted an ARC copy. I highly recommend it.
This book was fun and relaxing to read. I liked that the story didn't end in a cliffhanger, but that there are things that happen in it that make you want to read the next book in the series.
I liked the first book in this series and was happy to get the second from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
The inn is finally open and the first six guests have arrived. Someone dies, of course, and the path to whodunnit was enjoyable. I like the relationship Melanie and Liza have, I guess it's not unnatural, but less of Liza pushing men on her granddaughter would be better for this reader.
Most readers wouldn't care, but my hospitality background popped up and the fact that Mel and Liza have an employee irritated me. I don't think she added the color (despite her colorful appearance) the author may have been trying for. It also made no sense for such a small place to have what appeared to be a full time staffer in addition to the two owners especially since money was tight.
It's the grand opening of A Merry Ghost Inn and Melanie and Lisa are ready to go.
When their guests arrive, everyone settles in for an exciting time.
Unfortunately, the death of one of the guests makes everyone a suspect and Melanie and her grandmother, Liza have to do everything they can to save themselves and their bed and breakfast.
This is the second book in this fun series and the first one I've read. I enjoyed the story and meeting all the characters that make up this charming story.
I voluntarily read an ARC of this book provided by the publisher and NetGalley.
