Book 2 of the SpinDrift series, and much like the first, this is lacking in everything that makes a VC Andrews book good. The story of Donna is another quick moving and overwrought. We get it, she's smart. We get it, she's not like the other kids.

This is book 2 in the Spindrift novellas. Just like in the first book we have a girl who's too smart for her own good. Donna is a genius, who even intimidates her teachers. The only one who gives her the time of day is a classmate named Greg. When he asks her on a date, she agrees to go not knowing it would turn into a nightmare.
The story takes on underage drinking and youth violence. Donna blames herself for what transpires, yet the whole thing left me confused. She never really faced any consequences for what happens, or anyone who blamed her. Greg even gives her a pass, and still wants to date her. Yet she just avoids any real conflict and runs off to Spindrift.
This left me feeling the plot was sort of blah. Once we moved pass the date, it was poor me from Donna. I was interested in seeing a bit of Spindrift and to see Corliss again, but most of this installment seemed phoned in.

I think The Girls of Spindrift is going to be a great new series! So far the characters are well developed, the writing is great, and the setting is intriguing.
