Received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.

What a perfect, delectable little bite! I didn't know what to expect from a book whose main character is a mascot, but Owen was absolutely perfect. He was funny and sweet and persistent and fought for what he wanted (without being a creep). Paige was fighting her own battles and clearly ready for someone to push her into the next phase of her life. Watching these two come together was just all kinds of sweet and now I'm wondering who's hiding under the Mr. Met costume....

I loved the characters and the storyline development of this book. It was absolutely one of my favorites so far and I can't wait to delve in to the next one that this author writes. The storyline was simple, enjoyable, and entertaining.

Another great Novella in the Colorado Ice Series.

Owen and Paige are made for each other. I adored Owen right from the get go, I could feel his hurt at always seeming to be invisible around his hockey friends. Paige wanted to be invisible so she hides herself in her office, hides behind clothes.

They didn't hit it off right away. Both scared and scarred. Owen messed up badly. But Owen does not give up easily. He's set on showing Paige that her beautiful is more than skin deep. Because the more he knows of this woman, the more he sees the real her, the beautiful woman she is. And who better to understand her, then someone who hides himself.

I loved this novella. I love this series. Go read it, you'll love it, I promise.

This book had so much potential. I was really looking forward to it thinking it would be a sweet romance about two people overcoming physical and mental injuries. In the end though this bored me and I found the characters really hard to get on with.

Ultimately,I was unable to really get into this, even after stopping and coming back to it.

So this story had so many feels in it that I had to confine myself to my bathtub with my glass of wine and plate of chocolate covered strawberries to keep my family from thinking I was hormonal as I read the story. One moment I was laughing the next I was crying and then I would be on fire from the heat of passion between these two. I won’t deny that there are often many emotions in a romance novel that grab me by the heart strings but this story was exceptionally emotional and so well-written that I could not put it down. Owen and Paige have both been through so much in their lives and neither of them are the best at putting themselves out there for fear of getting hurt, but when push comes to shove they are so perfect for one another that I was thrilled to watch them fall in love. This series has been one that I enjoyed form the very beginning after stumbling onto it as a netgalley first in a series read, a new to me author and one that I have added to my auto-read list. Owen runs into Paige when he is playing backup, again, for his best friend and though she doesn’t seem to see him, he remains determined to get her attention and to show her that the connection he feels is reciprocated. Paige feels that connection too, but it scares her; after a tragedy left her scarred she hasn’t been able to trust any man to love her for who she is now and hasn’t the courage to put herself out there for the rejection. Owen slowly wears her down and soon she sees that the sweet and loving man he is will never let her down and that he just might be right that he is the man for her. The heat between these two when they quit fighting it was enough to keep my bath water from needing to be replaced (wink* wink*) and I was thrilled to see the way they handled one another’s perceived physical defects. Ms. Snow obviously understands the human nature to take even the smallest physical flaw and amplify it in our own minds until it is entirely out of proportion until the right person reminds us just how beautiful we truly are. I enjoyed every second of this story, even though I was exhausted emotionally after reading it, feeling like I had lived every moment right along with the characters, and I cannot wait for the next in the series. I can see that I will be keeping Jennifer on my shelves for a long time to come. Thanks for another great experience Ms. Snow, keep the masterpieces coming.

Review: I enjoyed returning to the Colorado Ice series even though Maybe This Summer was a novella at only 118 pages that had a lot packed into it! Hockey was still at the core but since it’s off-season it’s more about appearances at charity events and delving into some of the players lives namely Ben and Owen.

Owen has a twofold presence in the story as both the Bernie, the mascot of the Colorado Avalanche Hockey team but also as the team’s promotions manager where his face is seen. When he and Ben meet with Paige, at the Burn Treatment Center, regarding sponsoring an event, Owen can’t take her eyes off of her. From there it’s one stalkerish moment after another, but is it really? There’s immediate chemistry but Paige has some secrets she’s not ready to share but is Owen the one that can break down her barriers?

There are family and friends, the burn center and the children being treated there, the fundraiser, sadness, fear, tears, hurt, sorrow, happiness, laughter, loving and love. The story flowed nicely and tied up loose ends. There is a happily ever after in the offing with the epilogue tying up loose ends. I look forward to reading more books in this series with Maybe This Christmas being released in the fall.

Snow is one of my go to authors having enjoyed her contemporary romances in the Brookhollow and Beyond the Cage series in addition to those in the Colorado Ice.

4 stars.
Sweet and tender romance.
My very first by Jennifer Snow and I don't know why I waited so long to read this. I see her name often in my updates feed by other book friends.
I really liked this story and her writing style is just so easy and enjoyable that I also finished really quickly (it helps that it is only 118 pages long).
I loved the overall message here about "the importance of inner beauty". And even though it dealt with a devastating trauma that happened to Paige in the past, this was still a light, sweet and fairly humorous read.
Will definitely look out for more books by this author.

Maybe This Summer is another sweet read from new to me author Jennifer Snow. Once again Snow delivers an easy to read, easy to lose yourself in story about facing down fear and taking chances. This is a novella length book making it perfect as a summer afternoon escape.

Our main characters, Owen and Paige are brought together through work circumstances. Though they are immediately drawn to each other, Paige has major blocks with dating and intimacy, while Owe n is full steam ahead. They story is really about Owen breaking down Paige's barriers and how she works through her hesitancy. Owen is straightforward, which is charming in it's own unique way, making his pursuit of Paige entertaining. For Paige letting Owen is is confusing and frightening making her journey all the more delightful.

Although it's a part of a series, you can read as a standalone. That said, I love the interaction with the secondary characters ( mostly Ben and Olivia from Maybe This Love ) and Paige's mom. 4 Stars and recommendation!

Owen is an ex-hockey player, who is now the team’s mascot and also the team’s promotion manager. When Owen and his friend Ben go to a local hospital to meet the woman, who is raising funds for the hospital burn unit, it’s the first time Owen and Paige meet. Paige is a victim of a vicious attack and working in a burn unit is something really close to her heart. She’s been avoiding dating since the attack, but ever since she and Owen meet there’s an attraction between them, but it takes time for Paige to open up again. Are Owen and Paige ready to leave the past behind and be happy in the present?

I absolutely adore this series, I wish it didn’t come to an end soon. Even though it’s a novella, it didn’t feel rushed to me and the romance between the main characters came quite naturally, it was packed with a great story and characters and worked all together really well. I had a great time with this book and I’d definitely recommend this series to anyone, who likes sports romances.

I love this series by Jennifer Snow!
Owen McConnell is used to being his best friend's unnoticed sidekick, but it worse since he is also the the team's mascot and no one knows that it his him in the costume. Having left NHL to serve in the military had been his choice, but getting wounded ended his military career and him ever going back to the NHL as a player so playing the mascot was his only choice. Meeting Paige changes all of that.
Paige has wanted to stay unnoticed and under the radar, but Owen is making that more difficult each day since they met. He is drawing her out of herself and making her want new things in her life that she has denied herself for years.

Paige Adams used to be one of the beautiful people. She was drop dead gorgeous and was doing well in her modeling career. But that all changed when she was brutally attacked. Her outward beauty was gone, replaced by scars, both inside and out. She has to reinvent herself so she becomes very active in a hospital burn unit, working hard to ensure that children that have been burned get the best chance of recovery. Even though that did not happen for her, she wants all the children to have a better outcome.

Owen McConnell used to have it all. He was a hockey star and had the world in his hands. But he decided that he needed to serve his country so he enlisted in the armed forces. His life changes dramatically when he is injured while overseas. He becomes the Public Relations Manager for the Avalanche hockey team. He is also the Team Mascot, Bernie, the dog. When he is Bernie, everybody love him. When he is Owen, not so much.

When Owen meets Paige, it is love at first sight for him. He thinks that Paige is perfect inside and out. He pursues her harder than he has ever pursued anyone. But he does not make any headway, Paige is just not interested. He thinks it is because he is somehow lacking, but in reality, it is because Paige is afraid to let herself go and look for happiness. She feels no one will think she is good enough because of her emotional and physical scars. It will take a lot of patience and persistence if he is every going to win her over. Will they be able to find their happily ever after?

The characters are well rounded and well developed. I enjoyed getting to know Paige and Owen, they are both good people but they unfortunately were dealt hard blows from life. It was great to see them be able to accept their fate (especially Paige) and move forward.

The writing style flows smoothly and the novella is a quick easy read. I like that the author took a serious subject (burn victims) and wrote a tale of hope, second chances and accepting oneself as we are. That was a very positive message.

I would recommend this novella to anyone who enjoys a well written women’s contemporary. I plan on checking out the author’s other titles and reading them, you should too.

Fun romance that is a perfect beach read. Sparks fly when a former hockey player turned team mascot meets an emotionally and physically scarred woman bent on keeping him at arms length. Will love triumph in the end or will scars from the past keep them chained? Readers will be intent to find out. Definitely recommend.

This is a short story but is full of punch. Owen McConnell is the mascot for the Colorado Avalanche hockey team. One time he was a player, but then decided to enlist and a roadside bomb has left him with scares outside and inside to deal with. When he goes with star player and friend to a children’s burn center for a request of players and gifts for a fund raiser Owen also brings up the mascot of the team which is a Saint Bernard to show up for the children as well. Which works since he is the mascot. Paige Adams the director of the program cannot believe that the only man who showed up for the meeting wearing a suit was Owen and that was the man she was attracted to. Not that she was planning on dating anyone soon. She at one time was a top model and when she got a top job the person’s boyfriend who she was chosen over scared her by throwing acid on her. Now she is covering her scares and herself. After a weak moment she agrees to meet Owen for drinks and just when everything is going good he blows it. Now he stands no chance with her and it is time for the fund raiser and looking for the mascot she finds him with the Saint Bernard head on but his body is scared with burns and tattoos. She is also feeling an attraction that she has not felt in a long time. The problem is the mascot does not talk to her when he is out with the children and the same thing happens a few days later when he shows up at the hospital for the children who could not go outside. After her own surgery which Owen finds out about her mother tells her that he was their all day at the hospital and that she thinks he is the mascot. Now when she gives into her feelings for him it scares her to the point where she does not call him for a while. When she does there is no response and when she finds one of his friends from the team he tells her that he went on a road trip and where he is. Now it is up to her to take a leap of faith or not. This is a good story with a few good twists for a short story. I also enjoyed the whole mascot story. A very good book.

This is a novel within a series but I did not read the earlier books. This is definitely just fine as a stand alone novel. Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I especially liked the fact that both the hero and heroine have physical challenges which isn't something you see a whole lot in romance novels. I love how these two characters helped each other overcome their fears. I really liked the characters (especially Owen) and how they developed over the book. Given that this is more of a novella than a full novel, I do wish there was room for more character development. I think that was not quite as good as it could have been if the book had been a bit longer. There was quite a bit of humor along with the a really well done exploration of overcoming obstacles.

I really love the Colorado Ice series by Jennifer Snow.

This is a short story about Owen (who is Bernie, the hockey team mascot). Owen meets Paige who works with the burn unit patients at the local hospital. He is hiding the fact that he is the mascot (he used to be an NHL player and a member of the military). Owen was discharged when he was blinded in one eye during his tour of duty. Paige is hiding the fact that she used to be a model, but had acid thrown on her several years ago due to a jealous boyfriend. whose model girlfriend didn't get a modeling contract.

I just loved Owen's happy go lucky attitude and sense of humor and the behind the scenes life of a mascot. I really felt Paige's anxiety about her looks and lack of trust in letting someone get close to her.

Once again, I really enjoyed this short story, wish it were longer. I'm looking forward to the next Colorado Ice story.

Amazing story. It's sweet, touching and heartwarming. It's beautifully written story with characters you will love. Follow Owen and Paige's journey of overcoming insecurities and learning that true beauty is what's inside. Looking forward to reading more. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.

This book was a very cute and short story about two people with scars on the inside as much as on the outside.
Paige works as a director in the burn unit. She coordinates fundraisers and camps to bring awareness and some comfort to those receiving treatment.
Owen is a NHL team promotion's manager and the mascot. While coordinating a charity golf event to benefit scholarships for the burn unit's summer camp for young patients, Owen and Paige enter into a tolerating relationship. Her physical and emotional scars from her past hold her back from truly being happy with Owen. Paige has to learn to open herself up and allow Owen in.

This is a quick read with a fantastic story. This story is light, sweet and funny at times. Fantastic characters you will fall in love with as you read. This is a stand alone novella story. you can still read this book even if you haven't read the others. Another fantastic summer read. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future.
