This was a great quick read! These characters have been through a lot, which ca make moving on difficult. These two figure out how to trust each other, and it's cute watching them try. I definitely would like more from this series!

Always a wingman . . .

Owen McConnell is used to being ignored. After all, it's only when he appears as the Colorado Avalanche's team mascot that he gets all the attention. When the costume is off, women tend to gravitate toward his famous hockey player friends. But after he meets lovely, damaged Paige Adams, he knows he can be the star player for her. She's raising funds for the hospital burn unit, and Owen's determined to help her out---and sweep her off her feet.

The burn unit has been near and dear to Paige's heart ever since the doctors helped her after a vicious attack. Yet the scars---both emotional and physical---haven't faded as much as she'd hoped. She's closed herself off from relationships, and the thought of opening up is terrifying. But Owen's sexy charm might be just the push Paige needs to start loving again.

Owen McConnell is an ex-hockey player who had left playing with the Colorado Avalanche to join the Marines. He had lived through an injury by a landmine but that meant he couldn’t play hockey ever again. He was now the team’s mascot (not that anyone but the players knew that) as well as the Colorado Avalanche’s team promotion manager. He heads to the local hospital to meet with a woman who would like his friend Ben to play in a golf tournament to raise money for the burn unit. The minute that Owen sees Paige Adams he falls hard. He will do anything to get her to see him but she seems to look right though him.

Paige was a burn victim herself and hasn’t let herself consider dating in years. She knows that Own is interested but she’s not. One thing leads to Paige being at the DMV where Owen. She’s in a hurry and he has a number that’s about to be called. Owen knows he shouldn’t bribe Paige to get her to date him but he goes for it anyway. Unfortunately Owen does an idiotic man thing and almost blows his chances entirely.

This was a cute novella that had a great premise and was well written. Paige had been a victim of a hate crime and had walled her emotions off afterward. Meeting Owen made her think that maybe she could be more than she had been for years – and let people see the real her. Owen was a jerk at times but he was good for Paige and that made me happy.

My major issue with this story was that I felt no romantic connection between Paige and Owen. Friends? Yes. But nothing more spoke to me in their relationship. It might have started when Owen fell all googly-eyed over Paige after one minute of knowing her but it didn’t get better as the story went on. I could totally see these two as great friends but nothing more. Still a cute story, though.

Owen and Paige were too adorable! He was so goofy and friendly in costume, and thoughtful and kind out of costume. She had a lot of mental and physical scarring to deal with, but she was willing to work at it and take a chance. I loved reading this book.

I was so happy when I got the chance to read and review Maybe This Summer. This story was just so Heartwarming. In this book, we follow Owen and Paige and I just loved these two together, the romance was just so sweet and swoon worthy. At first, it didn't start off that way , but as we got deeper and deeper into this novella. I began rooting for them more and more and fallling in love with there love story. I also loved seeing Paige starting to live more after what happened to her , seeing her take that leap of faith and letting Owen in and giving into her feeling was just fantastic and Owen was just such a fantastic male lead. This book was such a heartwarming, romantic contemporary romance , with such a good message that left me with that feel good feeling and if you love all these things in your books you should definately pick up a copy as soon as you can .

Just ok for me. I hadn't read any of the other books in the set. This is my first time reading this author as well. Just did not feel the connection with the main characters. I know that novella's move at a different pace, but our heroine went from denying, denying to sleeping with Owen without much more than a kiss and some stilted conversation in between.

I would read the author again. This one just did not do it for me.

Owen and Paige both have their own scars emotionally and physically. They pull on your heartstrings and quickly pull you in! Another great success from .Jennifer Snow!

Maybe This Summer
By: Jennifer Snow
📚💕⭐⭐⭐⭐💕📚

First let me start by saying this was a first read from author Jennifer Snow. Maybe This Summer was a super cute romance. For a novella this book covered a pretty strong subject. I wish it was had been a full length novel.

Paige is a seriously strong character even when she doesn't see it. I really liked her. Not only because she is a survivor of a hate crime but because she is dedicated to helping children in similar situations to have dreams met. I had a few conflicting feelings about Owen. Owen was well on his way to a great pro NHL career when he did two tours in the military overseas came back scarred emotionally and physically and without complete sight in one eye. Now he's the promotions manager for the Colorado Avalanche & their mascot, Bernie. He's managed to turn the corner & accept that he was different on the outside but still the same very loyal frIend. I really liked him, but he was a seriously very hard on himself. I loved that he was such a fun and loyal guy and I felt a lot of empathy for him when he felt invisible. His character was so complex I think he would have done better with a full novel.

I truly enjoyed this book and the message of self worth is so important.

Thanks you Netgally for letting me read and review.

Such a great story in a small package! Owen and Paige were sweet and had shared experiences, but had a few things to work through. Don't we all? A well told story in a short format. I'd read more from Ms. Snow.

This story just kinda snuck up on me and didn’t let me go. I love this series so to read a book that was indirectly associated with the original series, I was intrigued. I’ve said this before I HATE the Colorado Avalanche. I worked for the Dallas Stars so it is easy to do. LOL! What was interesting about Owen is the job that he does. I worked in promotions for the Dallas Stars so it was very easy to relate to him in that sense. I could understand all the secrecy about being the mascot and all. In fact, the ending when Ben…oops. Sorry, almost spoiled a plot point and it is HILARIOUS!!!

I loved seeing Ben again. Frenemies indeed. You can tell that Owen and Ben are friends to the end but Ben likes to give Owen a hard time every once in a while. I enjoyed their scenes together. In fact, all of the secondary characters are very good in the story. Isabelle, Paige’s mother, is just spot on. Understanding, not pushy, understanding but in the end, she knew what was best for Paige even when Paige didn’t think so.

Owen is hysterical. The gifts, stalkerish behavior (in humor), caring for Paige when they finally come together and of course, the awful first date in the end. I was in tears with laughter. It didn’t help when Paige walked in…oops, another potential spoiler. 😉 Owen truly is a good guy and knew his limitations and what his scars meant. He just needed Paige to see that.

Paige is great! She’s up there with Olivia as one of my all time favorite characters from Ms. Snow. She had a lot to overcome when it came to men. At one time, her appearance was everything but with Ben, he didn’t care. He only saw her as she was now. It was sweet without being sugary. She just needed to overcome what she saw when the mirror beckoned.

Overall, this is a great addition to the series. I’m hoping beyond hope that we get a glimpse into their lives in the next book. Do not miss out on this one. It deals with some major issues for both characters but Ms. Snow delivers an emotional, sweet and funny story.

To me this book was a wonderful little romance about two people who are broken in their own individual ways. Together they can either break into bigger pieces or be the gold that makes their broken pieces beautiful again.

If you have been reading the Colorado Ice series you wont want to miss Owen's story. I highly recommend it

After having read the first three books in this series, I jumped at the chance to read Maybe This Summer by Jennifer Snow! I was particularly intrigued by Owen after having read Ben's story and was happy to see that the mascot was going to get his own HEA. Paige, the heroine, was my favorite character. She's strong, intelligent, and kind while also never taking crap from anyone--including Owen. Owen, he's generally a sweetheart, but there were a few times when I was in his head, and I couldn't help thinking, "Why are you being so stupid?" And normally I don't hate on insta-love, but it was just too much too fast this time around. I think that's in part due to the fact that this is a novella and not a full-length novel. Regardless, I liked Maybe This Summer by Jennifer Snow, and I loved reading little snippets about the couples from past books. And I am beyond excited for Asher and Emma's story--especially since it will take place around Christmas!

I liked Paige and Owen's story but I found no connection with Paige and Owen. I think it would have been better if it would have been a full-length book.

This novella was cute and a decent read though.

A gloriously beautiful, touching, sexy, sassy, and oh so sweet romance that had me swooning for Owen McConnell and his caring heart, charming personality and his oh so gorgeous body! Paige is a one of a kind woman who is utterly compassionate, beautiful, perfectly feisty but is one of the most caring heroines I have read in this popular series. She is definitely an instant favorite of mine!

Maybe This Summer is the perfect summertime read. It has plenty of heat, perfectly paced, wonderfully seductive and just charming. I loved this so...SO hard!

Maybe This Summer gets a MIGHTY SWEET AS PECAN PIE FIVE SHOOTING STARS! Its fun, its romantic..its just GOOD!

This story was a nice bridge between the second book and the forth coming third book in this series. For a short novel, this book read like a full length one. It had a good storyline with engaging characters and a happy ending. Because, who doesn't love a happy ending. I loved that Owen was the mascot for the Colorado Avalanche and not one of the players. Of times the mascot is overlooked. Mascots need love too. Paige may have scars but so did Owen. Together they showed that scars can be beautiful with love.

While, the romance between Paige and Owen was sweet with mostly kisses, I still felt the passion. They made a good couple. After finishing this book, I felt like I missed nothing. I look forward to reading the third book in this series. The men are hot and the women are sexy.

My 3.5 to 4 star review is on Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1989089040.
Review will be posted on blog and social media on release and links will be updated at that time below. UPDATED 7/11/17

3.5 to 4 stars
We met Owen McConnell in Maybe This Love as he is Ben Westmore's best friend and I was glad to see we were getting his story. He is the team mascot, Bennie, and Promotions Manager for the Colorado Avalanche hockey team. He is also a previously injured ex-Marine. He gets a lot of attention in his costume, but often gets overshadowed by his friends when he is out of it. He uses humor and sarcasm as a shield, and is generally blunt and honest.

When he meets Paige Adams during a meeting at the local Burn center, he wishes she would really see him. He is a man who has lost his confidence, and is used to being in the background. But when he can't stop thinking about her, he goes into pursuit mode and is determined to get a chance with her.

Paige works tirelessly at the Burn center, but is hiding her own scars. She's guarded and fearful. She does not feel pretty and worthy. She has not dated in years and does not plan on it. She tries hard to hide her vulnerability and how her past has marked her. But she is still struggling with coming to terms with what she has been through.

She never expected Owen to come bursting into her life. And she is determined to avoid attachments and a risk of heartbreak. But he finally finds a way to make an offer she can't refuse. They actually begin to see the other person under the facade they hide under...their heart, passion, and kindness. But their trials at dating are complicated. There is a lot of push and pull and hurt feelings, And they both have to decide how they want to approach their own lives before they can figure out if they could fit together.

I liked the premise of this story and the messages it conveyed. I adored Owen and liked Paige although she was harder to warm up to. Due it's short novella length the pacing is fast and the connection develops pretty quickly. I would have liked it to be a bit longer to get more of the relationship building. But it is not just a romance, but also a journey of self discovery for two people who have to learn to become comfortable in their own skin and figure out what they really want out of life. And they have to find the courage to expose themselves, be brave, and go after it.

It fits well within this series of sweet and romantic books centered around hockey, and I am looking forward to Maybe This Christmas with the final Westmore brother, Asher.

I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Maybe This Summer was a light, sweet and quick read.

Owen was introduced in Ben's story Maybe This Love as Ben's best friend and wingman who is also the team mascot. Lately he has been thinking more about the future, and when Ben finds love and takes himself off the market, it prompts him to reevaluate where he is in his life. He is used to living in Ben's shadow but it is starting to grate on him. Just once he would like a woman to see him for who he is despite the fact he lives part of his life behind a mask- literally.

Paige used to live a life most would love to have as a successful model until a jealous rival took it all away from her. Now she hides behind long sleeves, scarves and turtlenecks to hide her scars and spends her days working to help burn victims. When Owen sparks long forgotten desires, it completely unnerves her and sends her running for the hills. Fortunately for her Owen is a persistent guy, and it surprises her to find out they have more in common than she ever would have suspected.

It feels like poor Owen is constantly taking one step forward and two steps back with Paige, but as I mentioned he is a persistent guy and it pays off for him in the end. There are some heartbreaking and heartwarming moments alike in this story, and it was definitely an enjoyable read. Although it is part of a series, Maybe This Summer can easily be read as a standalone so don't hesitate to get your 1-click on for this story!

Loved Owen He was adorable and understanding. Great with kids and so kind. He had some self confidence issues but he didn’t let them get in his way. he was patient with Paige but also persistent.

Paige had a lot of growing up to do. She hid behind her past and let this change her life. It should to a point but for her it was a crutch. She let it dictate everything. She felt that she wasn’t one to be with due to what happened. She felt people had motives when like in Owen’s case he just wanted to know her and who she was. She almost let her own fear and anger ruin something so sweet and wonderful.

Jennifer Snow in this book in the series took two people who had gone through a lot and had them help one another and fall in love. Owen was hurt in battle and Paige by a terrible twist of fate. For Owen he took ti to be a life lesson but for Paige she let it take over her world. She hid behind it and used it as a excuse. So when Owen came along she was like teflon Don there. Owen was so cute in how he kept trying to get her to talk to him. Even when he would mess up he would work hard to get her attention. I loved how he was there for her even when she didn’t know because he just cared. he was so caring and sweet. I hated to see him hurting and did get mad at Paige for some of her treatment towards Owen.

But Paige had a journey to find herself and accept her situation. She needed to learn that people will love her for her and that not everyone has a motive other than just to care. The interactions between Owen and Paige were fun and saucy. I loved Owen’s sweet and fun demeanor. In the end it was Paige who had to see that love is love and that not everyone has motives but will love her for her. Owen was that person.

Both characters had inner strength and learned to accept the deck of cards thrown their way. Owen was a little more accepting than Paige and had more patience. Both were loving and caring and hearts of gold. Owen was a genuinely great guy who just wanted someone to love and found it in Paige. A fun sweet book that has you root for Owen and sometimes growl at Paige as she learns to accept love in her life.

4 - Maybe... just maybe, she needed to be braver..." Stars!

Book 2.5 in the Colorado Ice series give the reader Paige Adams and Team Mascot Owen McConnell’s story.

"You need a warning label on that smile."

I haven’t been deemed special enough by the publisher to be provided with ARC’s of the previous two books, but it didn’t detract from the reading experience in that you can absolutely read this novella as a standalone.

"You are amazingly beautiful… I don’t know how to tell you enough."

This was quite a heavy story to try and deal with in a story of novella length, and for the most part I think the author did it really well. I loved Owen he was an absolute sweetheart, and although Paige took a little longer to warm to, you understand why she is as closed off as she is as the story-line progresses. That-said, I believe this story did have the potential to be a full length book, but the novella was a great little interlude.

No doubt when the next full length book is due for release the publisher will decline my request for an ARC, but I would definitely be happy to read more from Jennifer Snow, as this read highlighted that she offers up the right amount of drama and angst in her romance, that ticks all of this readers boxes.
