I really, really like this author. This book isn't indicative of their other works, but it's not a bad addition to her catalogue. Wins in this story include the virgin/celibate hero...a rough and tumble man who isn't jumping from bed to bed, woman to woman, until he meets The One? Yes, please! His level of devotion was a little much, but I can absolutely respect him having his sights on The One and not letting anything get in the way of who he knows she is to him.
There were some plot issues as well as dthings that weren't realistic at all that only served to increase the drama before the MC's give in to their chemistry and love. Overall it was a sweet story with a little too much to tackle to be truly satisfying, but the passion, commitment, and freedom were all there and even though it's not an awesome story, it's definitely worth a read.
To say I’ve been waiting for this story is a bit of an understatement, I honestly really NEEDED this story even though I knew it was going to spell the end of Tessa Bailey’s Romancing the Clarksons series. We’ve seen this couple interact during this series, there is no doubt there is some kind of connection, but no one, not even the two people involved have figured out what is going on between them and with time running out, desperate times leads to desperate measures. A poignant, emotional journey filled with past regrets and secrets and healing that only comes from letting go and letting love in, Too Beautiful To Break is a touching and beautiful love story and Ms. Bailey absolutely saved the best book for last in this series.
Belmont Clarkson, the oldest of the Clarkson siblings, is determined to fulfill his mother’s dying with for him and his three siblings to jump into the Atlantic Ocean on New Year’s day at Coney Island and although three of his siblings have found love and are now all over the United States, he plans to meet them there before he makes the drive back to San Diego with Sage Alexander, his sister Peggy’s best friend, and the only person who has ever been able to make him feel calm and whole. She is his heart, but he knows she is too good for him, too pure, so he allows her comfort, he gives it back but that is all. When Sage insists he take her to the train station so she can go home, where she grew up, not San Diego, both of their lives are changed forever in more ways than one.
I honestly don’t want to say too much about this story because I think all the twist, turns, and backgrounds on both Belmont and Sage need to be read, digested, and absorbed. Both these characters have baggage that has made them into the people they are today. Until Belmont met Sage he was barely getting by in his life; meeting Sage made him want to be a better man, get his act together, work hard and be able to provide for her when HE was ready to be that man. Sage was happy to help Belmont, but as time went on she began to realize there was something all too familiar about their relationship and she had to make changes in her life. When things get really bad, the rest of the Clarksons are there to see them through and give back to Belmont who helped all of them when they needed it the most.
This is not a pretty story, these two people overcome a lot of obstacles to be together, but the steps they take, the trust they place in each other as they work through it all had me holding my breath and turning pages as fast as I could read. The emotions I experienced in this book, the tears I cried both sad and happy, and the overwhelming sense of peace I had at the end made me realize I was reading an expertly crafted and truly exceptional story. Well done, Ms. Bailey, well done!
A sweet yet gritty romance, with a complicated past that will have you both rooting for the couple... and wanting to knock some sense into them.
*3.5 stars*
What I dream love should be…
After reading romance for a long, long time, my vision of love has changed over the years to encompass a lot more than the nuclear family. At the heart of any love though is respect, empathy, desire and supportiveness. Belmont and Sage have all these traits and more…
Sage is hiding something and instead of getting angry or defensive, Belmont is the opposite. He is determined to find out what is wrong, for himself but even more for Sage. He is relentless in his pursuit of the truth and his need for her to know how far he will go to love and protect her. Not swooning yet? Oh wait, you will be. At every turn he is simply there. With every resource at his disposal, with everything he can offer, he is not letting her go…
Bel and Sage ended this series so I know I have missed so much in the Clarkson’s sibling relationship. I can see how close they are and I need start at the beginning and learn it all!
I'm not sure what Tessa Bailey has done, but she's beginning to ruin me for all books. Too Beautiful to Break is an amazing, sexy, and breathtaking book that I needed more of with every page I read. It's truly amazing, and I would suggest everyone pick up a copy!
Strap yourself in because this book is one emotional rollercoaster. I am not exaggerating when I say that because I actually started this book a few weeks ago and had to put it down after reading just the first 10% of it because of how much emotion and heaviness was being foreshadowed. This is just a friendly warning that this book will make your heartache or even goes as far as ripping it straight out of your chest, so have tissues ready.
Belmont Clarkson is the oldest of the Clarkson siblings and after meeting him in Too Hard to Forget, I could just sense that this man has been through A LOT in his life. He is elusive yet has such a remarkable presence. At the same time though, I could feel the sadness and darkness surrounding him as he tries to maintain control of his life which has been a little difficult given the cross country road trip he has been on with his siblings. But, there has been one person who has brought some light and stability to this trip and that is Sage Alexander, Peggy's best friend. Sage and Belmont have this connection that is so palpable, I sensed it even from their small moments together in the previous book. That palpability skyrocketed within the first three chapters of this book as Sage leaves Belmont, to make the journey to New York on his own, while she faces her past back home in Sibley, Louisiana.
That is what Belmont felt for Sage after they met for the first time. It is the perfect example for me to give in order to show that Belmont is nothing like any hero I have ever read before. The feelings and thoughts that this man has are enthralling and also completely unexpected. His mind, though weathered by what he has gone through in the past, still has the capacity to feel so profoundly especially after Sage came into his world. It is his connection and unquestionable love for Sage that drives him to follow her to Sibley and finish what began many moments ago.
I have purposely not talked about the plot that much because it is the emotions felt by Belmont and Sage, both individually and towards each other, that drive this book. This is not an easy read, I repeat, THIS IS NOT AN EASY READ. It is intense and heavy and may drain you emotionally until you are a crying mess curled up in your bed but it is also so very beautiful and well worth the pain it might put you through (Remember, I did warn you in the beginning). This is by far the most emotional book I have read in a while but I would like to thank Tessa Bailey for giving us Belmont and Sage’s story even if I am still recovering.
Holy lemons, this book! It’s so cute and sweet and romantic. My heart couldn’t handle it!
Belmont is my favorite character (seriously, I always choose the guys as my favorite characters… it just happens), he’s sweet and caring. Him and Sage have been through a lot and all throughout the book I just wanted them to be together and finally be happy!
I enjoyed this book all throughout; every page, every chapter. It was so nice to read… even though I got a little desperate sometimes because Belmont and Sage deserved their happily every after, I couldn’t help it.
Belmont and Sage share such a special connection, it’s automatic and electric. They are so in sync but even though they like helping each other, they realized they both needed to overcome their problems on their own for their relationship to work and I loved that. Two characters with such an amazing connection who know how to draw a line so their relationship isn’t toxic? YES PLEASE. It was so amazing to read.
Basically Tessa Bailey is amazing and y’all should check this book out because it’s beyond good.
Too Beautiful to Break is the last book in Tessa Bailey's Romancing the Clarksons series and she really did save the best for last! This book was absolutely amazing!
A road trip with twist and turns.
The story starts out as stating issues of co-dependency but as we read further, it is that and so much more. Belmont and Sage are two broken Individuals who reveal their vulnerabilities thus showing one's real self and strength.
An intense read.
I can say one true thing, without hesitation. The Clarksons are one intense family. They come by it naturally, of course, imbued with it, as they were, by their mother, Miriam. And, of all of the Clarksons, a family that I adore beyond measure, Belmont is extra-special, the one whose book I have been waiting for. Thank you, Tessa Bailey, for doing this special character justice in TOO BEAUTIFUL TO BREAK.
Throughout the entire Romancing the Clarksons series, Belmont has stood out from his siblings. Stoic, quiet, intense, and ever-present, while the other Clarksons got their stories, their resolutions, the smoothing away of their life-hewn rough edges, Belmont, well, Belmont carried on. It's clear throughout the books that there is something else going on with him, something simmering just below the surface, something that only Sage Alexander truly understands.
The pull between Sage and Belmont is truly magnetic. Their relationship is absolute yin and yang, and Sage understands before Belmont that they have to break the bond in order to become who they need to be. They both have unfinished business in their lives, and only by learning to step into their own fears and responsibilities will they be able to move forward.
Tessa Bailey has such a way with words, with characterization, and stories that grab you and don't let go. I have no doubt that, like any good mother, she loves all of her characters equally, but I have to believe that Belmont holds a special place in her heart, because he certainly does mine. I have loved him throughout, and couldn't to see his relationship with Sage blossom into the fullness that it was destined to be. Finally, in TOO BEAUTIFUL TO BREAK, Bel and Sage are there, and I could not have enjoyed this book more. It's an easy 5-stars for me, and a great way to wrap up this series. Perfect for fans of contemporary romance with plenty of angsty twists and turns on the way to happiness, the Clarksons should definitely be on TBRs everywhere. And, while I'm sorry to see this series end, I can't wait to see what Tessa has in store for us next.
Too Beautiful To Break was a perfect and fitting title for this book. It showcased how Belmont and Sage were two broken souls who were absolutely perfect for one another. Yes they were co-dependent on another and yet they found healing, peace, and love together. If there is ever a character that called to you, it was Belmont. His intensity, sincerity, and flawed personality was absolutely beautiful. This book was poignant, heartbreaking, gripping and most importantly too beautiful. So if you are looking for a story that captures the true essence of love, sacrifice, and healing then I highly recommend you to read this book.
I was unable to finish this as I couldn't connect with the story or the characters. Thank you for letting me try this out though.
Ever since the very first time we met Belmont, I’ve been fascinated by his quiet intensity. Ever since we get introduced to his and Sage’s somewhat…borderline dysfunctional relationship, I’ve been anticipating their story with a rabid sort of glee. But I was also afraid. See when you anticipate a certain character’s story, you tend to build it up in your head, and it inevitably falls short. Belmont was such an enigma. He’s such a memorable, multi-layered, and broken character. And I’m thrilled to report that not only did Tessa Bailey do him justice, she blew all my expectations out of the water.
Too Beautiful To Break was entirely worth the wait and lived up to every single promise. Belmont’s story was EVERYTHING; Emotional, gripping, swoony and entirely unforgettable.
I’ve never trusted anyone the way I trust you. Not while wanting at the same time. And want…want isn’t the right word for this feeling inside me, Sage.”
“What is the right word?”
“Famine,” he ground out. “I’ve been in a famine.”
The Clarkson siblings tale concludes with this book, as they reach their ultimate destination. Four books in the making, they originally took off on a cross country trip in order to fulfill their mother’s last wish by jumping into the freezing water of the Atlantic on New Year’s Day for the Polar Plunge.
But as they near their destination, Sage announces that she needs to leave, shaking Belmont to the very core.
Their relationship is this combination of codependency meet suppressed lust. It’s such a fascinating dynamic. Sage is the balm to Belmont’s tortured soul. She calms him in a way nothing in his life ever has. And Belmont has been Sage’s constant in a life that has been anything but.
Sometimes, she swore they shared a fractured pulse.
Too Beautiful To Break shows just how very versatile this author really is. Belmont is not her typical dirty talking, uber alpha. He’s complex and while no less alpha, there’s also this endearing child like quality to him. His quiet intensity grabs you from the start and completely hooks you in this book. He’s a complete goner for Sage and he doesn’t even want to hide it. He just wants to prove to her that he’s worth it.
If you’re not my perfect Sage, let me learn you. Prove it. So I can prove to you I’m not going anywhere.”
I was dying to know what happened to Belmont to make him the way that he is. I was starving for more details of Sage and her past. While she paints the picture of the perfect little wallflower, there was always this hidden depth to Sage and you certainly saw it come out here.
This was a beautiful and gripping romance about two broken souls piecing themselves back together. It was romantic and emotional. It was swoony and the most perfect book to end the book with.
My one quibble is the somewhat rushed details at the end. There’s a particular revelation of Belmont’s past coming to light and I wanted more of it. Considering that that particular detail is what molded him into the man that he is today, I needed a little more on that end. Aside from that, I enjoyed this book from start to finish and I couldn’t imagine a more perfect book to close this series with.
As much as I love Tessa, her latest books have not been my cuppa tea. I'm really not overly fond of the heroes. They are way to dramatic and this really throws me for a loop. I love them tall, dark, dominating, and dirty. Lately they are nothing like her older heroes.
I'm sorry but I am moving on since most have become a DNF for me. Thank you though for the opportunity to read and review Too Beautiful to Break.
She runs away and hides instead of talking to him. He chases her and digs way into her private life when she doesn't want him there. Five minutes later they are happy and in love? The whole series arc of the road trip and the sibling relationships was weird and has been weird for four books now. Meh.
This book was beyond amazing!!! These characters I have fallen in love with and I didn’t want their story to end. There was something about it that made me fall instantly as soon as I read the first line I was hooked. Tessa Bailey words made love to your soul and you could help but to fall in love. So I would like to go on record and give you full disclosure to let you know that once you’ve started to read this book you will not want to put it down. I was an addict to Belmont and Sage, Belmont has stolen my heart and to be honest with you he can keep it because he deserves it.
‘You’re the tide. You’re everything”
Belmont and Sage’s story is filled with anguish, romance and love it will most definitely leave you with the ultimate feels. We have these two individuals who are suffering from hurt from their past, hurt from people who are suppose to love and protect you. The thing is they needed each other in order to heal. Sage thought that she could handle it one her own but she needed Belmont more than she thought. Belmont was beating himself up over his past but with Sage in his life he knew that he could become the man that she needed. Of course we had a huge obstacle in the form of a bitter man who was trying to keep the two apart but their love was too strong and too beautiful to break.
Belmont and Sage's story just gutted me. I won't lie, I haven't read every book in this series so maybe that's why I wasn't expecting such angst. Gah!
Belmont is haunted by what seems to be a million demons and Sage's are almost as bad. The way these two use each other as a crutch is heart breaking and yet beautiful because they (and the reader) know that despite their feelings if they can't work through their problems individually then as a couple they don't stand a chance.
The whole book is them working through their pain and trying to find a way to have a healthy relationship. The writing and characters are beautiful. So why the three stars?? I'm not sure if skipping a couple of the books just hurt my reading experience or not but the story was slow to me. Very slow. So I think anyone who is invested in this series is going to enjoy the book. But definitely not the place to start the series!
I love Tessa Bailey books! and The Romancing the Clarkson series has been a favourite of mine this year.Ever since this series started I have been anticipating Belmont'book soso when it came time for him to have his own book I was so happy and I start this story as soon as I possibly could and It was fantastic . I have been shipping Sage and Belmont together since the very first I they appeared in very first book , so watching there love story play out was fantastic .Tessa Bailey books always have those steamy sexy romances , but there was something different about this one . The devotion these two have towards each other , the way they are willing to go to extreme lengths just to protect and save each other and even the way they talk to each other it was just so uniquely Belmont and Sage . I loved the story and I truly thought that everything came full circle in the best way possible .Iam so sad to be ending this series and leaving all these characters but Iam so excited to get my hands on whatever Tessa Bailey writes next if you love all these things in your books you should definitely pick up a copy of Too Beautiful To Break as soon as you can.
Words cannot express what a ridiculously good series this was and how thrilling and exhilarating Too Beautiful To Break turned out to be. This was not your every day run of the mill romance story or series. The series itself had a story arc through all the books and Belmont & Sage’s journey was sooooo much more than a road to HEA. These two were ridiculously kismet. They were meant to be. They brought out in each other exactly what the other needed to forge forward from their respective pasts. It was glorious to read and SO EMOTIONAL. I’m crying right now just thinking back …..
This is one road trip no one should miss #TRUST

Too Beautiful To Break is the fourth, and sadly last, book in author Tessa Bailey’s Meeting The Clarksons series and highlights a couple we’ve seen throughout the whole series, but knew very little about. A couple comprised of a serious, handsome, thoughtful, broody Belmont and the beautiful, sweet, kind Sage. The connection they shared was always in the shadows and we didn’t really know the exact dynamic between them…until now. And now that I’ve finished this story I can tell you all the build up was so worth the wait. Oh, how I love this couple so.
If you want a little backstory on the Clarksons as whole, I’m going to direct you here because frankly I can’t wait to gush over Belmont and Sage…
Belmont, from the very beginning, has been the stoic older brother with a protective streak a mile long and a soft heart as big as Texas. We got to see glimpses of those traits throughout the series, but he always remained a mystery. His childhood was shaped around one nightmarish incident that, in a way, made him the man he is today. He was a great big teddy bear who maybe didn’t smile of laugh a lot, but a man you loved regardless. He was also a man you just knew loved Sage Alexander, even if he wouldn’t admit it out loud just yet, you knew the special kind of connection and tension between them would spill over into much more than a few stolen quiet moments together.
What’s not to love about Sage Alexander? She’s kind and beautiful and has a soft grace about her that practically jumped off the pages. They were mismatched in so many ways, but so well matched in the most important of ways.
So, when these to are thrown into a situation where they can’t deny what they feel for each other any longer, I knew I was in for an emotional ride. And oh boy, I think I cried through the entire second half of this book.
One of the things I loved most about Belmont and Sage was they were both pretty innocent when it came to relationships and handling emotions. So seeing them experience a lot of things that come with first love was rather refreshing and a bit unexpected. It really brought another layer to their story that made their bond that much more special and strong. It also made me need almost a whole box of tissues.
The road they must travel down is way more than just a rough one. Both of the have to battle childhood demons that they’ve been pushing aside for far too long but they do it….together. Man, is it something special to read.
Now, some of you may know that when Tessa first thought of this series, I was beyond excited. It was a series unlike anything out there, and still is. What you may not know is that we were at dinner when she told me it was going to come to fruition; I totally started crying right there in the restaurant. What you also may not know is on another occasion I forced her to tell me how Belmont’s story would play out. You can imagine I cried again. But what she managed to put down on paper, and into the words of this book, far surpassed anything I could have dreamed for. It was the most sublime of stories and while I am so freaking sad the series has come to an end, there is no better way to have it ended with these two. And yes, I’m crying again…
Thank you, Tessa, for giving us not only the whole Clarkson gang, but the loves they’ve found on their journey and for taking us along for the ride.
