While I’ve thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the Clarkson family, it’s definitely Sage and Belmont’s story I was most curious about.
The big brother. The silent guy. The one who stood a bit apart from the rest, though whose love and loyalty was clear to see. The man who’s so lost in his love for Sage it almost blinds him.
Having that love, that unwavering support, it’s almost crippling Sage. So used to relying on each other, Sage knows she can’t ask any more of him. Having to go back home, and fix the people she left, she knows she can’t take Belmont with her.
Somehow in her mind Sage believe she has to do this on her own. Belmont disagrees. Just the thought of her walking away destroys him. Belmont protects Sage, that’s what he does. So her having to fix things on her own is just not happening.
Though fighting her battles is not what she needs. While being there, and getting to know each other in a whole new way, Belmont will have to face some deep buried down demons.
Belmont is such a unique, and amazing character who’s captivated me from book one. The bond he and Sage share makes me swoon, and filled with longing for that kind of love. Too Beautiful To Break is a stunning conclusion to Romancing The Clarksons series. It has been a privilege to be taken on this journey with the Clarkson family.
*I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review*
Oh my stars… Belmont stole my heart. He has been slowly chipping away at it with each book, but after finishing his and Sage’s story it’s completely gone. What a sweet, complex, gentle giant. Now, don’t get me wrong, he has his hang ups and his demons, but after reading this book I understand his story so much better. Not just his trauma but also Sage’s. ‘Cause lord does that girl have a story to tell. I couldn’t have imagined a better person for Belmont if I tried. They truly needed each other, and were better together then they ever could of been apart.
I can’t say much about what develops throughout Belmont and Sage’s story, the truths that come out, the reason for certain behaviors, etc; because that would ruin the whole experience for you and I can’t have that, now can I? But what I can say is that the very talented Mrs. Tessa Bailey, has once again hit this out the park. This book, this series, these characters, and the amazing love that surrounds all that is the Clarksons. I know they are fictional characters, and families but my God they are so real to me. I have been following this magnificent author since she has started gifting us with her very talented work and stories. I pray she doesn’t stop anytime soon, and I can not wait to see what else is in story for us by The Great Mrs. Bailey.
I recommend this book and series to anyone who’s ever dreamed of that forever love, the love that makes this thing called life worth it.
The last in the Romancing the Clarkson series, Too Beautiful To Break is great read and a wonderful conclusion to the series. TBTB is the story of Belmont and Sage, characters that fascinated me from the other books. With all of the Clarkson stories, this is about family, and this time it's Sage's family that we come to know. It's a tragic story, about a girl from an impoverished family, the 3rd wheel to her parents tumultuous marriage, who finds away out her situation only to be pulled back in by her devotion and honor.
The story line is fast paced and Bailey's writing is poetic and engrossing. She paints a picture of Sage that captures her past and shows us who Sage is, why she's willing to sacrifice her own life to help them:
"She’d been raised in this squalor. No, she hadn’t been raised— she’d reared herself, instinctively knowing from a young age that her parents weren’t capable."
There's something that's pure about the connection they share. Both innocents, are now facing this connection head on. FINALLY!! As well, they both face down deeply ingrained fears, for the sake of each other. It's scary at times, the sacrifices they will make for each other.
I really enjoyed this book and the series. 5 Star and recommendation.
I like Tessa Bailey, I really do. I think her dialogue is typically funny, hot and sometimes very deep. But I could not finish this book. The characters were so melodramatic and it kept pulling me out of the story. I just kept getting annoyed with the fact that two characters who obviously visibly cared for each other did not communicate and made big gestures like "running away" and "facing a debilitating" fear without explaining the actual circumstances. It may have gotten better as the book went on but life is too short to be annoyed by a book.

This is the final book in a four-part series about the Clarksons, adult siblings who began a road trip from San Diego to NYC at the behest of their late mother. They were meant to bond with each other–because this is a rather dysfunctional family–and all jump into the ocean on January 1st. While you can read this one on its own, I know I enjoyed it more for having read the first and second books already. As the books progress, one of the Clarksons find his/her soulmate and stops traveling with the promise of reuniting for the Big Plunge.
Now, with Rita, Aaron and Peggy building love and life with their soulmates, Belmont Clarkson and Sage, Peggy’s best friend and wedding planner, are in the big ol’ Suburban on their way to NYC. Or, not so much. Because Sage decides she’s leaving Belmont and the dysfunctional friendship they have built.
See, Belmont fell into a well when he was ten–and it took four days to rescue him. He’s been a reserved, “gentle giant” since that time. A silent protector to his younger siblings, and now Sage, whose presence quiets his mind. Sage, for her part, loves cuddling with Belmont, loves him, but can’t be his security blanket anymore. And, she’s got a family obligation to attend.
Sage comes form tiny Sibley, Louisiana. The main employer there is a salt mine–and the owner is Augie, a wealthy, lonely man who fell hard for Sage’s mother way back when. Her mom chose another man to marry, and Augie’s employed that man his whole life–and lent him money when needed, relishing sending Sage’s father into the worst areas of the mine. Now, Sage’s dad is (supposedly) only a couple months from retirement, but he’s physically unable to do his job. Sage bargains with Augie to take her daddy’s place, if only he’ll let her work the final couple of months, and her daddy will get his full pension.
Belmont’s fear of the dark, and of enclosed spaces has followed him since his descent into the well. He has some black memories of that experience, including the reason he was down there in the first place. But putting his Sage in the ground, working a mine, is an untenable situation. He is going to take her place no matter what.
So, this book is long on self-sacrifice, yet contains a good amount of communication for characters who’ve been so muted to this point. I liked how Sage and Belmont both acknowledged their co-dependency and worked to reveal more of themselves to one another–to banish the misconceptions between them. Sage believes that Belmont can’t see her as a woman–and Belmont’s stunned because so much of his reserve was keeping himself in check physically; he’s wanted Sage a long, hard time… Meanwhile, Belmont saw the polished Sage and thought she was perfection, an ideal she couldn’t hope to live up to–but it doesn’t mean he loves her any less upon seeing her faults.
I’ve learned that Tessa Bailey will include some outrageous sexy scene in each of her books, but the double-first in a house of god was a capper, hands down. The tentative loving was to be expected, and the unleashed passions was frosting on the cupcake. I loved how Belmont’s siblings came to support him in his hour of need, and how the judgemental townsfolk of Sibley stood up for what was right at just the right time. I bet Augie didn’t expect that, as he turned his Machiavellian screws.
And this series which I fell in love with hard has come to an end.
And it was one Heck of a ride.
I just loved it all.
Oh my man Belmont & the lovely Sage.
I've been waiting for their story and it was well worth it.
I feel in love with Belmont even more reading this story because Author Tessa Bailey created such a great, loving, HUGE hearted man who has a secret side that I was invested in from the first book.
Letting his feelings for Sage come out was such an emotional ride.
I was crying and swooning big time with these two.
They both are soo innocent yet with each other they bring out the pent up energy they have held back from themselves as well as with each other.
My emotions were on overdrive. I simply loved it!
A perfectly beautiful way to break and end the journey of the Clarkson family!
A Top 2017 Must read!

3.5 Stars
I have enjoyed all of the Romancing the Clarksons novels, so I was looking forward to the last in the series...in the way that you want a story to end, and don't, all at the same time.
For this one, I wasn't sure. Belmont is pretty damaged, and you know that about him from the beginning of the first story. So, would enough happen, would he heal enough on the road trip, to be ok (or at least on the way enough) to be a convincing hero? For me, yes...and no at the same time. I think I wanted there to be more of him as someone strong and on the way to ok with her...but it seemed like it was a lot "because" of Sage.
There are parts at the end where this shifts, so the book as a whole works for me. I liked the resolution of the family story, I liked that it left them in a good place, and in one that they can move from, and I liked seeing where they all ended up.
The sex was, as always, hot, steamy and fun...with a twist I don't think I have encountered before in a book, so it felt different (good I promise) and I do recommend the title overall.
I’ve cooked up several beginnings for my review but I just can’t seem to settle on one for this book. I don’t know why. It felt like forever to wait for this story, but once I started reading it, done in a flash. All swallowed up, and it felt like two minutes. One moment I was so excited to be starting this and the next, finished. I have no idea where time went between those two points.
It is my obsession to read a series in order but usually can’t help but think people can go out of order if they want a particular story. Characters show up here and there but they’re not necessary to be known if you want to enjoy the book you’re reading. But, it is my opinion that to truly enjoy this book, people should really have read the previous ones. Because I think Belmont and Sage were not just one book in the making. They started from the very first book of the series and only now concluded their tale.
I’m talking about two people who have already fallen in love. They’re already in love when they first appear in the series, they know each other, they feel each other, and though they haven’t yet sealed the deal shacking up-pardon my French, dear readers- they are a couple. You know it. The book though, is their story of calming down a little, cooling things off and taking a step from each other to strengthen the bond. Thinking this is less romantic than the couple actually falling in love? Think again. Because these are two damaged people who know how to heal each other already. Their chemistry is off the charts from three whole books not having any sexual contact. Restraint is all good but when that snaps, hold on for dear life, folks.
I enjoyed this book. Maybe it’s because I’ve been waiting for it for what feels like forever, and I already loved Belmont and Sage, who broke my heart in tiny pieces but thankfully put them back together again, I don’t know. I’ve had my expectations and yeah, they were delivered. Very sad to wave the Clarksons goodbye, gotta tell you.
I’m rambling and don’t have the necessary words to describe this book, with its story having started all the way back in the beginning of the series. All I can say is that you’ll enjoy this one if you like people who are a little damaged, a little broken to find themselves and heal. If you like your hero a bit withdrawn, a lot thoughtful, a giant with a heart of all that is precious. If you like your heroine strong enough to claw her way out of anything.. In short, if you appreciate a deeply emotional romance.
I’m adding five spoonfuls of this story into my hodgepodge, and clinging to my iced coffee for dear life because now it’s time to say goodbye to the Clarksons.
5 Saving the Best for Last Stars!!!
I've been wanting Sage and Belmont's story since the very first Clarkson's book and oh my the wait has certainly been worth it. This is by far my favorite of this series. It broke me in so many ways but by the end I was uplifted again thanks to Ms.Bailey's uncanny ability to write a story that allows us to have these overwhelming emotions but feel completely healed at the end of this book.
If you've read the previous three books in this series you know that Belmont is a broken man and has struggled throughout this series and so many times I cried for him. But this book brings everything full circle and luckily Sage was by his side. Don't get me wrong, Sage has secrets of her own that very well could tear these two apart. Our H/h definitely struggled in this book and there were a few times I honestly thought I wasn't going to be able to go on because the emotions were so overwhelming, again thanks to be grace of Ms. Bailey's words I continued on...I HAD to forge ahead so I could make sure they get their HEA.
What it all comes down to is that this is a book that went out of the normal realm of what we have read by Ms. Bailey in the past in all the best ways. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for her dirty talking alpha heroes, but this book has now moved its way up to the top of my favorite books by one of my favorite authors. This is a definite must read make sure you've got your tissues handy!!
Too Beautiful to Break has been of the short list of my most anticipated books this year and it sat in my queue waiting for the right moment and when it did, *Breathes Deep*, Belmont and Sage stole my heart. It is everything I wanted it to be AND MORE! It is an achingly gorgeous story that will turn even the coldest of hearts into a puddle — mine included.
If you haven’t read the first three books in the Romancing the Clarkson’s series,
GO. NOW. READ. THEM. IN. ORDER.
With the Clarksons series, Tessa Bailey has woven a tapestry that is truly something to behold – 4 estranged siblings, each more different than the next, on a mission to fulfill their mother’s last wish. What could be the road trip from hell is actually a four act play about love and loyalty between people who just needed to see it in action again to be reminded of how truly precious they are to each other. None more so than Belmont, the oldest of Miriam Clarkson’s kids. This man is the ultimate Bailey hero, a protector with a heart too big and too good for this world. Here we finally get inside his head, as well as that amazing heart to understand what makes this man tick (Spoiler alert – it’s love). Bel is a man of very few words, whose actions speak volumes and here we hear every syllable loud and clear.
Sage. She is his. She his purpose, the voice in his head, the reason his heart beats so strongly. With a just a glance, she soothes him. Her story was as powerful to me as anything, because beneath the surface is a woman who is so selfless, which could be mistaken for passive or weak, which she is anything but. She is a warrior for the people she loves, whether they deserve it or not. I loved her strength and most of all, her heart.
Sage and Bel are the ultimate Love Story – it’s pure, it’s messy and it is soul-deep. It is impossible not to be pulled into their orbit and be held there mesmerized by two of them.
Something I don’t want you to miss are the notes from Miriam Clarkson. They have a power all their own that not only gives you a view into her children, but just how much she loved them. I have re-read her note about Bel and even now it makes me cry. Seriously. You will fall in love with both mother and son with each and every word.
Too Beautiful to Break is the great big red bow on this gift of a series. Tessa Bailey has crafted a true family of characters that you are happy to welcome into heart and love for years to come. Enjoy this series (I am very serious about reading them in order).
Happy reading.
Laurie’s Rating: TEN+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ STARS.
Too Beautiful to Break was one of my most anticipated reads of 2017. This is the fourth and final book in the Romancing the Clarksons series by Tessa Bailey and the build up of Belmont and Sage's book was happening right since book number one. I really did enjoy myself while reading Too Beautiful to Break. I have been following this series right through the beginning and it was bittersweet to see it end. But I'm quite satisfied with the ending we got.
So let's start with Sage. Sage has been Peggy's best friend and wedding planner so she has been through thick and thin with the Clarkson siblings during the course of the road trip. Sage may come off as shy and sweet and classy but underneath she is hiding a background which she ran away from. But Sage knows she can't keep running and to get back to reality she has to leave Belmonte behind. I really liked Sage. She was a sweet girl and her heart was always in the right place.
Belmonte is the quiet brother. An incident in his childhood left him scarred and he is still struggling to deal with it. The only person who is steady in Bel's life in Sage. He feels right with her and only she can calm the demons inside of him. When Sage decides to leave him Bel will do anything to get rid of her problems for her. I love Bel. He was the sibling who probably needed love and affection the most.
Sage and Belmonte made for a great pair. Sage fears that their dependence and neediness for each other may end up ruining them both but Bel is always there to prove her wrong. The chemistry between Belmonte and Sage was amazing and as always Tessa Bailey delivers and steamy and angst filled romance. Bel and Sage both have vulnerabilities and they both overcome them with each other's help.
We also finally get to see all the Clarkson siblings together along with their better halves. All the siblings have come a long way and it was great seeing them finally be a family who loved and protected each other. The climax of the book was definitely dramatic but Sage and Bel deserved their happy ending. I would definitely recommend this series to all romance and Tessa Bailey fans out there.
*Note: A copy of this book was provided by the author/publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. We thank them.
Belmont Clarkson is the focus of this story: he’s never been particularly comfortable with change – and this family has had tons of change happening of late. He’s always appeared as the most withdrawn and damaged of the siblings, and his full story is yet to be shared. But, he’s had one constant along the way – his girlfriend Sage – whose presence seems to keep him on a more even keel. But all is not well in Sage’s life either, and she is worried about the codependency issues that seem to keep them together even as both are too broken to really be good for the long term.
Now faced with a choice, and her parents needing her, Sage decides to go to them, knowing Belmont wouldn’t be able to function in that new world: she’s never shared much of her own issues with him – thinking he needed her more to listen than to share, and she’s wondering just how well he’ll survive without her. But, her choice is clear (to her) and away she goes.
Such a different story from the earlier books in this series. Watching their struggles: Sage with leaving to return to a family life that wasn’t ideal, and Belmont’s struggle without the touchstone that keeps him calm and loosely engaged with the greater world. He’s forced into situations that are uncomfortable and unfamiliar – and his path is never without missteps, but the growth and revelations he experiences will be, eventually, good for him. Even as he (and readers) don’t always see it at first. What comes forward most strongly is that until that growth happens, for the both of them, neither is truly understanding what love is, or how to function with and without it. And not surprisingly, it is Belmont who makes the sacrifices for Sage that show that love in many enduring, heartbreaking and even poignant ways.
Bailey has done it again – taken what was expected and toss that to the wind, bringing a wholly unexpected set of issues to the table, giving us characters that fit well with the others in the series, yet stand out for their heart and the need to see them both find the ending that is appropriate and oh so welcome.
I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

I have been waiting for this book since I first met Belmont in book one where I fell madly for him and it just got worse as the series went on. Sage peaked my curiosity even more with her quite sweetness. Their whole relationship did! And to finally get into the nitty gritty of their relationship in this final book about the Clarkson's was so exciting. And to FINALLY get to there story was like getting a rush from decadent chocolate.
Once I had read it I couldn't decide if I liked this book or not. I was a bit crushed by that. There was so much push and pull angst and bad choices that kept being repeated by both of them. I was expecting some drama from these two but I wasn't expecting them to completely lose their minds and act like this. So I was a bit disappointed, BUT overall I did enjoy the book and my favorite character is happy at the end and to me that was what mattered. I definitely thing many will enjoy this book especially if they enjoy this type of angsty romance.
Received in exchange for an honest review.
this was so wanted and anticipated-Belmont and Sage and let me say it didn’t disappoint. The only part I take issue with is the Belmont/his dad resolution. this has been a bone of contention for Belmont for so long and it was a quickie resolution. To me it needed more. Other than that this is one emotionally charged gorgeous book and if you read this series you knew this was how the book would be.
Belmont feels more than we think and he will have you bawling. This is one amazingly gentle and sweet man. He understands Sage but also needs her like he needs his last breath. When at the beginning she does what she does you just cry for Belmont. It’s as if she is paralyzing him and taking away a part of him it is crushing. But Belmont gets it sort of and his brother is there for him. The kisses that Sage gets from him are so scorchingly hot they sizzle your page and curl your toes. This man is just so just so....And the mine scenes you melt...Or how he ended up in the hole as a child really has you bawl and melt...Or when he sees the woman at the drugstore and doesn’t shun her but treats her with kindness and honesty you just turn to goo...This is one incredibly awesome man. Just captures your heart and doesn’t let go.
So why does Sage do what she does? Well fear and to face her past. She doesn’t want the need for Belmont to become like her parents where everyone else do not matter. And this is actually a good thing. Sage is now facing and owning her feelings, past and actions. what is awesome is that Belmont doesn’t take what she does lightly. He figures out where she is and goes to her.
He goes to help her and support her. But what they do end up doing is learning and growing. they learn that yes they need each other and love each other but that they don’t need it to be smothering or all encompassing. It becomes more that it is what they want. they learn to communicate and talk out there feelings and issues. They learn each others fears, desires, wants and who they are. they become each other’s support system but not by just grasping at each other but by being there and encouraging each other. We see more intimacy through how they grow and become closer through learning about one another than by the intimacy of touch. Don’t get me wrong that intimacy is tender and sensual. Belmont has you melt with his words and actions in that area. And with both of them facing their fears we see them become stronger.
Belmont overcomes so much and grows. When he takes the burden of Sage’s past it’s the sweetest thing. And when this becomes more we see what is behind Sage’s debt and why and watch as a town shows strength and courage. The ending is perfect and just them.
this is a wonderfully beautiful and emotional story. You are just get absorbed in their life from the beginning and stay there until the end. You feel their emotions and go through the gambit of feelings with them. You root for them and see them grow and mature as individuals and a couple. A story that just has you melt and love them more than you thought possible.
Too Beautiful To Break is hands down my favorite of the Romancing the Clarksons Series. THIS BOOK was utter perfection. It was EVERYTHING you could have wanted from a Tessa Bailey book. It had romance, passion, raw emotions and all the feels. As far as the characters, Belmont and Sage stole my heart!!!
Too Beautiful To Break was a perfect and fitting title for this book. It showcased how Belmont and Sage were two broken souls who were absolutely perfect for one another. Yes they were co-dependent on another and yet they found healing, peace, and love together. If there is ever a character that called to you, it was Belmont. His intensity, sincerity, and flawed personality was absolutely beautiful. This book was poignant, heartbreaking, gripping and most importantly too beautiful. So if you are looking for a story that captures the true essence of love, sacrifice, and healing then I highly recommend you to read this book.
TOO BEAUTIFUL TO BREAK is the fourth installment in Tessa Bailey's contemporary, adult ROMANCING THE CLARKSONS erotic, romance series focusing on the Clarkson's siblings. This is eldest sibling Belmont Clarkson, and wedding planner Sage Alexander's story line. TOO BEAUTIFUL TO BREAK can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from previous story lines is revealed where necessary although I recommend reading the series in order for cohesion and backstory as Sage and Belmont's story have been developing throughout the series.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Sage and Belmont) TOO BEAUTIFUL TO BREAK follows the friends to lovers relationship between wedding planner Sage Alexander and salvage boat owner and operator Belmont Clarkson, a co-dependent relationship that places our heroine in a position to walk away claiming her sanity and her sense of self as she struggles with the push and pull of her love for a man so broken he is physically or emotionally unable to let go of his need for Sage Alexander. What ensues is the emotional and heartbreaking revelations about one woman's past, present and possible future, and man who is willing to sacrifice his freedom and his life for the woman he loves.
Belmont and Sage are kindred spirits; two broken souls whose backstories are heartbreaking; whose memories of the past come with pain, sorrow, loss and the darkness of emotional, physical and mental abuse. Belmont's siblings are unaware of their big brother's tortuous past; Sage keeps hidden a past awash in embarrassing secrets and threats against the people she loves.
The relationship between Sage and Belmont is a friends to lovers romance that struggles with the innocence of virginity; memories of the past; and threats that are meant to coerce and control. The $ex scenes are seductive and provocative.
All of the previous story line couples including Belmont's siblings Peggy and Elliott, Jasper and Grace, Rita and Aaron, play secondary and supporting characters. The Clarkson's are a tight knit group of siblings, very protective of the people they love. We are also introduced Sage's parents Peggy and Thomas Anderson.
The world building continues to follow the Clarkson siblings as they search embark on a cross country journey to honor their mother's final wish. Along the way each sibling will find love, them self, and their purpose in life.
TOO BEAUTIFUL TO BREAK is an emotional and heartbreaking story line.Throughout the series Belmont and Sage's story has been building with hints at the potential breakdown of one man who is unable let go of the past and the woman he loves. The premise is engaging; the characters are broken, colorful and lost; the romance is exploratory and sensitive.
