This is the end of this series aand its really been a very different and fun series. This story was NOT fun. It is beyond heavy. It is very well written. Extremely well written and I am very impressed with how well written it is.Not that the author is not a great writer, she is, but this book was just an amazing story and the journey the characters take was extremely painful and the author really takes you there.
Now if you are expecting this story to be about Belmont you'd be wrong. This is Sage's story and she has a past you could not even imagine. It was extremely painful to read and see where she comes from and then what she ends up having to do.
It is an original story and plot as I have never seen it in a romance before. And Belmont, if you thought he was weak before, this book shows you how strong he really is and really is about true love. The depths he loves Sage was just amazing. I beyond LOVED how the whole family joins in saving both Belmont and Sage.
The ending ties everything up beautifully and I have really enjoyed this series.
Too Beautiful to Break is my favorite book in the Romancing the Clarksons series! It's a beautifully intense romance with complicated characters, but so down to earth that it felt real to me as a reader. I was one hundred percent addicted to this story. I wanted everything to work out for the characters and patiently waited while they got to where they needed to be in order to love each other. It was just an all around fulfilling read and I couldn't help but fall in love right along with the characters.
Having read many of the books in the series, I have to say this one is by far my favorite. Perhaps it's because of how intense the hero is. Or, it could be that his complexities are overwhelming. Either way, he is the one I wanted to succeed the most and I am so glad I was able to witness it through this journey.
This is a highly recommended read!
This is the one that our patrons are waiting for. They adore Tessa Bailey's Romancing the Clarkson's series.
"Sometimes the right thing was the most painful. Sometimes it gutted you and ruined you forever, so a single second wouldn't pass without a reminder."
"I have no greater weakness or strength than you."
Too Beautiful To Break is the fourth book in the Romancing The Clarkstons Series and finally we get Belmont's story. And just like the saying, they saved the best one for last....
When we catch up with Belmont and Sage, Sage has had to make one of the hardest decisions of her life. She must leave Belmont behind and deal with her family's troubles. She wants nothing more to confide in this strong and determined man, but the truth is just too much for her to bare, so she decides to try and deal with it all on her own...Belmont has known since the moment he laid eyes on Sage that she was meant to be his. So, being without Sage is not an option. He will move heaven and earth to find the woman that slays his soul. And while he knows Sage has something that she doesn't want to share, this determined man will stop at nothing to make Sage his...
Overall, I thought this book was a terrific read. It was the perfect way to end an amazing series. I've been dying for Sage and Belmont's story for some time now and I will tell you that it does not disappoint. It was sweet and intense with just the right amount of sexiness. Belmont was absolute perfection. He had me swooning all over the place and my heart is just so full with how much he truly cares for Sage. And Sage, I couldn't be more proud of her for not only facing her past, but taking a leap on the unknown.
Too Beautiful to Break was an amazing read from beginning to end. This story packed one heck of a punch, taking me on an emotional and heartwarming journey. In the end, it left me with all the feels and the biggest smile on my face. Simply put, a terrific story to spend the day getting lost in.
Received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.
Oh my god....I have been WAITING for Belmont and Sage's story forever and Tessa Bailey, meany that she is, made me wait for their story! I forgive her though because Too Beautiful to Break is the perfect ending to the Clarkson family's story. Belmont and Sage have this odd, co-dependent relationship where Belmont needs Sage to center himself. It's understandable after he was left in a well for 4 days as a child. Sage is hesitant about how much they need each other, which is understandable after you find out where she's coming from.
I was worried that having Belmont and Sage in the back of each of the other sibling's books was going to make me build up their book and set expectations that could never be met. I was WRONG. My goodness...I laughed, I cried a few times...it was great. And that scene with them in the church? Dear lord. Bailey can write some hot hot hot scenes.
What am I supposed to do now that I've finished the Clarkson's stories? I came to love them and root for them and while I couldn't have dreamed up a better ending, I'm going to miss them.
Side note - This is a standalone, but please please please do me the favor of reading the other three books first. They make this one so much better when you are able to see the history of the Clarkson's.
LOVED this book! Wow, just, wow... This novel opens with just Sage and Belmont in the car, as Sage prepares to leave him without him knowing why or where she's going. She's running from him to face her past - a past that is very ugly and makes her ashamed. Belmont finds Sage and fights to rescue her from her fate. Through all of this, the undercurrent of their relationship percolates. They have an intense attraction to each other, but have never acted on it. Add in the fact that Sage refuses to emulate her parents relationship and she would rather push Belmont away than do that, and you have all the ingredients for an intense romance.
This novel is an emotional roller coaster that had me turning pages just as quickly as possible - it went from incredible highs to incredible lows, then did it again and again. Wow, if I smoked it might be time for a cigarette.... This might be the best Clarkson story yet. If you only read one Clarkson novel, it should be this one. While their road trip ends, I hope the characters will show up in future books and I really hope to learn Libby's story.
This is a must read for fans of the genre. The author is a master of her craft and is on my must read authors' list.
This book has gutted me. I am wounded, and yet healed. I've been waiting for Belmont from the very start of this 4 book family road trip journey, and boy, was he worth the wait. I knew he would be, and yet, I had no idea how changed I'd feel by the whole experience. I feel like I know this fictional family, and I'm so glad I got to go along for the ride. To quote one of my favorite movies (and one of my favorite ladies ever, Dolly Parton), "laughter through tears is my favorite emotion." I felt that several times while reading this, and it felt so good. Seriously, this book gets All. The. Stars. 5+++!!
Belmont Clarkson is a unique man. He's stalwart, and almost a man of another time. He's big, but quiet. Fierce, but so gentle too. He loves his family, but almost from afar, afraid his feelings might be too much for them. He's the oldest of the 4 siblings, and the only one with a different father. He had a traumatic event happen in his childhood that scarred him, and he was never the same afterward. He's never quite faced up to it, and it's caused him a myriad of issues. He's used all sorts of things as crutches throughout his life: drugs, the ocean, his work on a salvage boat, and most of all in the last few years, Sage Alexander. His family and Sage set off on this road trip, from California to New York, to fulfill his mother's last wish: to have them all jump into the Atlantic Ocean off Coney Island, together, on New Year's Day. They've lost each of his siblings to finding their own loves along the way, and it's only he and Sage left in the giant Suburban. Until she tells him she's leaving too.
Sage is a wedding planner, which is how she came to know the Clarkson family. She was planning Peggy Clarkson's (many) ill-fated weddings, and they became best friends. But, she also fell into a bit of a co-dependent non-relationship with Peggy's oldest brother, Belmont. The need they have for each other, and the way they've been using each other, isn't healthy. It reminds Sage of her parents' own flawed relationship, and she doesn't want that for herself, or for Bel. On top of that, she's about to go home to the small town of Sibley, Louisiana, which she hoped to NEVER see again, to help her parents out of a big jam. And she knows she can't let Bel follow her, so she has to be ruthless, in letting him go. Sage has never really shown her true self to anyone since she's been in California, not even Peggy, so she isn't prepared for Bel to see what she's been hiding all this time.
Belmont and Sage's chemistry has been insane from the start. They love each other so fiercely, but aren't sure they can be what each other needs. They both have GIANT issues to overcome, and watching them do so is hard, and painful, and so worth the wait. I sobbed my way through part of this book, and smiled, laughed, and felt my heart explode through the rest. I loved the 2 of them together so much, and I am so beyond thrilled we got to experience this journey with them. What happens in Sage's hometown is not what I expected, not that I really knew what to expect, but it was often heartbreaking, and ultimately, healing.
Throughout this entire journey, though she's not there in person, is Miriam Clarkson, the matriarch of this family. She's the reason they're all there. Her words in her journal, and her final request of her children, has been the driving force behind this entire series, and their epic trip. As much as she wasn't the conventional mother, she loved her children fiercely, and she knew them, really knew them, often better than she ever revealed while she was alive. Their love for her, and each other, is what forced them on this quest to start with, and it's what makes the whole thing worth it. As a mother myself, though my daughter's not near grown yet, I found myself often having an emotional connection to her, and her words. I really enjoyed getting to know these characters, and their struggles to find themselves, each other, and ultimately, love, and their place in the world.
As much as I always love Tessa Bailey's books, this one, this whole series even, was very special. Her dirty talking alpha heroes are consistently THE BEST, and Belmont was no exception, though it took a little longer for his true colors to show through. I just love her voice, and how it comes through in every story she tells. But, I could tell this series was different, and special to her, and it was to me as well. I truly cannot recommend this book, and the entire series, highly enough. I will never forget this family, or their epic journey. You won't either.
Absolutely excellent story about fear, love and family. Sage is a wedding planner and Peggy's best friend. Belmont is Peggy's brother and is the quiet type. He works on a boat and owns a salvage company. Something about Sage calms him, so he relies on her too much.
When Sage's mother calls her to come home, she leaves Belmont and goes back home. Belmont doesn't take it well and when he finds out where she's working, he takes her place. At first Sage keeps Belmont at arms length but she realizes that they can need each other and still be separate people.
Fourth book of the Clarkson series. A little aggravating with Sage pushing Belmont away and then pulling him back. But by the end I understand more. Belmont knows Sage is it for him but will he be able to convince her?
