This is the latest book in this series. If you are a hockey fan (like me) or love romances than you will enjoy these books. I know I sure have enjoyed reading these books. In fact, I don't even care that the hockey is not the main focus. Although, there are some brief moments featured on the ice. Yet, it is what transpires off the ice that counts.
Asher and Emma have been friends for a long time. They are ready to take their relationship to the next level. There was not a lot of build up prior concerning Asher and Emma's relationship. Yet, I was fine with this. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not when a couple hooks up within the first couple of chapters. In the case of Emma and Asher it works. They were hot together. I loved that Emma took charge as well. She did not just let Asher make the moves, she commanded him. Maybe This Christmas makes the perfect stocking stuffer gift.
Maybe This Christmas is another solid read in this series. The story is a bit predictable but I always like friends-to-lovers stories because the history and emotions are so rich between the characters.
Emma and Asher are pretty great together and like-minded in what that what and need from each other. I love their history and friendship along with the passion and chemistry in their physical relationship. On the surface they appear to be a match made in heaven. They both made assumptions without talking to each other which led them down a rocky road that was almost unrecoverable.
Most of the side characters bothered me in this story – except Jackson and Asher’s mother. Emma’s sister is an overpowering, self-center jerk to Emma and her running over Emma made Emma seem weak. Ben was frustrating until near the end. The new character we see briefly was pushy and while needed to push the story along didn’t make the story any better.
Again there were a couple of hockey factual inaccuracies that didn’t detract from the story but frustrated me nonetheless. I got past that and the major announcements unrealistically made on national television because they were sweet gestures that helped the story along.
If you’re in the mood for a quick read with a good friends-to-lovers theme, this is the perfect book for you.
Jennifer Snow's Maybe This Christmas was my first holiday read of 2017. This latest in Snow's Colorado Ice series is a best friends moving into something more than friends with benefits romance that had me ready to turn the pages.
I loved Asher and Emma together. A hockey player recovering from an injury, not quite ready to commit to more than his career. A snowboarder turned physical therapist, wanting more than friends with benefits. Add in family drama on both sides and Maybe This Christmas packs all the emotions in a sweet, sexy romance.
Jennifer Snow delivers a wonderful holiday read that can be enjoyed anytime but perfectly timed to get you ready for the season. And I'm definitely looking forward to reading more Jennifer Snow books.
Maybe This Christmas brings us Emma and Ash’s story. Friends for a very long time, benefits that came along quite naturally and for the most part their relationship drifted along just fine – according to Ash. He was unaware that Emma has taken that final step into love and was looking for far more than they now had, she was looking for forever.
Ash is facing, perhaps a career ending injury right before he could complete an important milestone in his career. An injury brought about by his own brother no less. While they both knew it was a game, they each played to win… for the opposite team. Now Ash is back home, doing his best to recuperate and get back on the ice. He has the best chance of success with Emma’s help. He wasn’t looking at changing their relationship. But now he has to possibly face a life without hockey and a life without Emma at his side. It’s decision time for a man who has always known what he wants, until he almost loses it forever.
There were moments in Maybe This Christmas that I seriously wanted to sit Ash down for a stern talking to – and tell Emma’s sister to butt out and mind her own life. Ash and Emma both have a truckload of issues on their respective plates and their changing relationship is only adding fuel to those situations. Emma has acknowledged that she loves Ash and wants more. Ash has always “loved” Emma, but what she’s asking is more than he can deliver right now with his career on the line. Neither are completely happy, both want more but don’t know how to get it and everyone is giving advice that isn’t helping, at all. A bit of family strife as brother blames brother for a serious injury, guilt at causing that to happen, parents supportive but sort of placed in the middle, unwanted and unneeded interference by well meaning family members all add up to some drama, some re-thinking of priorities and perhaps a happy ending at last.
I enjoyed this story very much. Ash definitely wanted it all and for nothing to change. Life is more complicated than that. And the love of a woman like Emma doesn’t come along every day. This couple is believable, stubborn, definitely steamy and right for each other. Sometimes it takes losing it all to see what the important things and people truly are. I’d recommend this story to any Romance reader whether you love Sports Romance or not. This one will touch your heart and have you believing in Christmas miracles again.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
he funny thing about asher and emma's story in maybe this christmas is that when the book starts they're in the middle of a relationship. maybe they aren't calling it that. but when you are exclusively seeing the most important person in your life other than your family, that's what it is.
emma spends a lot of time doubting asher's love for her. and maybe at first he doesn't label it. and maybe he pushes their relationship into a more "real" place due to jealousy. but i always felt like asher was being honest about his feelings, and it was hard to understand why emma had such serious doubts. just like i had a hard time understanding why she refused to hear him out after their confrontation on the mountain. i hate when characters shut each other out like that. you can't have a relationship without communication. emma is hurt and upset, but ignoring asher doesn't actually make it better. it's not until he forces her to listen that she can actually heal.
i really liked asher. i think that maybe the pain pill subplot wasn't properly fleshed out, because one second he's trying to score pills and the next he's flushed them down the toilet and he suffers no repercussions from it. i think there was something there that needed more time and space to really pay off. it also felt like everyone around him was just another voice criticizing his every move: his brothers, his sister, his future sisters-in-law, emma's sister, even emma herself. and i just never felt like he was entirely in the wrong. we were in his head and he was honest and knew what his failings were, and it felt like these were amplified by the other characters in ways that weren't entirely fair.
i don't think he was wrong about emma entirely. i think that her feelings about leaving snowboarding weren't entirely settled. i think he was right in saying that it didn't have to be all or nothing. i think emma's sister jess is possibly the most toxic character i've ever met. the dinner party scene nearly rendered her irredeemable. the subplot with the university of florida kind of ends up nowhere. is emma actually going to go? creepy sean was making it seem super unlikely.
here's the thing, at the end of the book, emma and asher are finally together the way they both have wanted to be since the opening pages of the book. the only difference is the fact that asher declared on national television that he loves her. i liked emma and asher. i was rooting for them. i really, really enjoyed reading their story. but for some reason, the more i think about it, their story felt a bit jam-packed with a whole lot of nothing. i think this is partly because things didn't go deep enough. my favorite book in this series was the novella, maybe this summer, and that's because it was the one that went the deepest emotionally. which is fascinating considering that it was a short format read.
They were Best friends first and then become friends with benefits. Now Emma wanted more but was Asher ready for more or would the thought send him running. It seemed everyone had a plan for what they wanted from Emma but no one asked her, does she even know? After an injury left Asher benched he starts to wonder what is next out side of hockey, especially when everyone around him seem to have it all figured out. He knows one thing it better not take long to be back on the ice because he is going back no matter the cost and no one will stop him. Then he would figure out what was next as he went. Can they figure out what they want out of life or will the cost be to much?
I have been following this series from the beginning and this book did not disappoint at all. I am not sure if there are more books to come in this series but I hope so its been completely enjoyable so far. This book has to be one of my favorites, I really loved Emma and Asher friendship and how everything wasn't perfect and I enjoyed Emma and her strong personality. I loved this small town of Glenwood Falls and I love how there was follow up to the other characters in the other book and you get to find out whats going on in there lives. I will say this book does have strong language and adult scenes so it may not be suitable for all readers. Otherwise grab this book its with it and a super fun read.
I have enjoyed reading this series and getting to know these brothers immensely. Asher was not what I expected but oh my goodness he was so unbelievably amazingly better than what I thought he was going to be. The plot was a fun one and I don't want to give anything away.
Asher learns a big lesson and his personal growth in this book is huge. Emma is a strong and amazing character. She is a perfect match for this Westmore brother. This was just one of those books that gives a reader super strong feels and I wouldn't want anyone to miss out.
Maybe This Christmas is perfect for warm cozy fire reading and falling in love with Colorado Ice series. This book can be read as a stand alone but getting to know the characters from the previous books would only enhance your enjoyment. I would suggest reading the books in order to get the full affect of the Westmore brother's and the dynamic of their family and friends. I highly recommend this book.
Maybe this Christmas is my first "holiday" read of 2017 and what a great way to start the season. I met the Westmore family in Maybe This Love where I hadn't an inkling about the sexiness of Ben's brother Asher. I'm glad to have made his acquaintance and that we get to spend sometime with in Glenwood Falls, CO.
When the story opens we find Asher unknowingly walking into a party to celebrate an upcoming milestone in his hockey career playing for the NJ Devils. We immediately meet his best "friends with benefits" bestie named Emma Callaway and witness his reluctant transition from friends/lovers to much, much more.
Snow's storytelling is impeccable and her characters endearing and genuine. Snow delivers the great scenario for making the potential change in their relationship happen. We get to see Asher struggle with the relationship he has with his brother, how he copes with injury and how he learns about what's really important in life. He's a bit stuck on the past and what he believes about Emma and what he feels for her. I immediately loved Emma and found her to be smart and brave.
There's lust, angst, and redemption to be gained. This a a great read to fire-up any hockey romance readers and get you ready for both seasons. 4 Stars and recommendation!
This series is turning out to be incredibly hit or miss for me. I've loved some, and I've not been able to finish others. Unfortunately this one falls into the latter category. Maybe it's because I missed some critical information in another book, but I felt like I was dropped into the middle of Asher and Emma's story and I didn't connect with it at all. I was confused and impatient and trying so hard to invest in characters I constantly felt three steps behind.
In the end, I chose not to finish. My blog partner, however, loved it! So it's entirely possible this is more about me than it is about the story.
I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to read/review. This was just a swing & a miss for me.
Maybe The Christmas is book three in the Colorado Ice series.
I loved the previous books so of course I couldn't get my hands on this book.
Maybe The Christmas is about Emma and Asher . I very much enjoyed it because It is fun, cute and sexy.
This story wasn't my favourite but I did enjoy it none the less. Very well written and like the others it was a fast read.
I do highly recommend.
I give this a 3 out of 5.
What's not to love about a best friends to lovers romance? Well, maybe more of a best-friends with benefits to falling in love romance?
I immediately connected with Emma and Asher. Immediately picked up on a whole lot of unrequited love . . . well, maybe not so much unrequited and unspoken. Emma and Asher have been the best of friends for years. Lovers for a while too. But are they ready to move this friends with benefits relationship to another level. Sex hasn't ruined things but will true love?
I really liked Emma and her inner strength, her ability to admit to herself that she was happy in her life. Settled. Ready to move on to true love, a marriage and a family. But Asher. His typical man ignorance frustrated me. He took a little while to get on the upswing--to realize there's a life outside the hockey rink. But once he did, whoa. Holy hotness.
This Colorado Ice series has been hit or miss for me, but Maybe This Christmas was a definite hit. I loved the sibling interactions--sibling rivalry at it's finest. Loved how Emma was a part of the family too. And I'm hoping there's at least one more tale to tell.
I've really enjoyed this series & particularly this book. This is a story about being friends and taking the next step in the relationship. If you're a fan of friends to lovers, sports, and holiday romances this is the book for you.
With a great combination of romance and sports, Maybe This Christmas is a must read. Being a big fan of hockey, even bigger since my team the Pittsburgh Penguins won the Stanley Cup. I really enjoyed the story about Asher and Emma.
Who remembers the TV series The Brady Bunch? You know how Jane was always in competition with Marsha. Well, Asher and his brother reminded me of Jane and Marsh. You see when you read the book what I am talking about. The competitiveness between these brothers, albeit a little one-sided, was very interesting read.
You see; NHL star Asher Westmore is going for his thousands game a major milestone in any NHL players life. And nothing was going to get in his way. Nothing except a bad knee injury. But even that wouldn’t keep Asher of the ice. Until in game 999, his brother bashes him against the hockey boards. Asher could see his career going up in flames. But with his long-time friend Emma Callaway in his corner, working out with her can improve his body and his spirits.
Even though Asher and Emma were together already; it wasn’t the relationship that Emma wanted. She wanted more than an every now again hookup. But Asher being Asher had his eyes on the price so to speak and could see that Emma want more.
What I come to enjoy about Maybe This Christmas was I could relate to Asher more than I could to Emma. Being not the oldest or the youngest I too went through the phase of trying to outdo my older siblings. Just to come to realize that no matter what! win or lose your siblings are the ones that would always have your back
Another fun visit to the land of hockey with the Westmore's! With the latest book in the series, we get Asher's story. He lives life in the fast lane, always giving hockey his all and always trying to keep up with his big brother Ben's accomplishments. He doesn't want to think of the future after hockey is over, he just wants to keep his head down and bust through every game. Emma is at a point where she wants more ... but she hasn't spoken up about it ... yet! This series is always a great read ... I liked them as a cute couple, but I didn't connect with them quite as much as previous books because they sort of kept themselves closed off even from each other in what they were thinking and feeling. Hoping there are more books coming in this series!
Asher Westmore lives and breathes hockey. He's on the verge of hitting a major career milestone with his New Jersey Devils team, and he's not going to let the aching knee that he's been ignoring for a year now get in his way. When his big brother and opponent brings a hard hit during the next to last game prior, it takes him out of the game and to the hospital ... with months of recovery on the table.
His best friend (with benefits!) Emma Callaway just so happens to live in his hometown and be a physical therapist, so he's looking forward to having her get him back on his skates quicker than the doctors are advising. Emma is on the cusp of changing up her life a bit herself, and she's happy to have some time with Ash to try to figure out where they are going in life ... she knows she's loved him for years and wants a future ... but she doesn't know if it's still just friendship and sex for him.
I have enjoyed the Westmore family in this series and I think Asher has been the funnest of them all. He is seems to be the one most not willing to change. Totally lost in the world of Hockey and everything it has to offer. The one constant in his ever busy world has always been Emma. They have made it work the best they could trying not to cross the lines more than they already had. But when life gets real and the thought of possibly loosing hockey or worse yet, Emma moving on with her life, he is forced to really evaluate things. Will he be too late.
Emma is ready. She has stood by Asher as his best friend, his secret lover and she is ready to take that next step in her life. She just has to figure out how to tell him.... Not sure when or how but she feels she has to do it now. Will she push him away with her want for more? Does he feel the same way? Will her chances for school ruin everything?
This was a great story of love that sneaks up on you. That hidden change from loving someone to being in love with someone. Needing them to be your constant in life. Will Asher and Emma find that love?
Ms Snow does a great job of drawing you into the story and giving you the full emotional feel of the turmoil these characters are feeling. Afraid to rock the boat but wanting more at the same time.

Asher and Emma oh my. they were besties who felt more but were afraid. Asher was actually trying to be noble he didn’t want to take her into his crazy hockey world. He knew she had roots and responsibilities and was hoping to wait. But fate can be tricky.
For Emma she was afraid Asher didn’t feel the same. At first she liked their friends with bennies but over time her heart grew wary and she wanted the whole package. When Asher gets hurt and needs to stay and get rehab she hopes this will be their time. And we see it begin. We see Asher and her start to connect beyond friendship. We see them both want to take a chance but things happen that overwhelm Asher and it has them go off kilter. Take that and Emma’s future into consideration and wow we have some obstacles to face.
I loved Asher. He was strong caring and considerate. He did seem to think of himself and the competition he was in with his brother and being in his shadow but that was tamed by his love for Emma. a love that he slowly realized was not something to fear but embrace. Except he also does think of emma’s dreams and his as well. He is a sweet guy but sometimes self absorbed and has many things going on. I do enjoy how he handles his struggles and comes to terms with things.
emma was a spitfire and sweet. She had hope and such positivity.Seeing her and Asher together was so wonderful. The chemistry between them was awesome. Watching her take care of Asher and help him get back to the ice was great. what was hard? Asher’s dependence on a way to take care of his injury. But he struggled and fought it. These two show great strength and growth in this book. We see Emma begin to take stock and go after her dreams. Asher learn what is important and a love shine through.
The intimacy of friendship and beyond is wonderful and the book is just so entertaining. The characters draw you in with their struggles, passion, love and just who they are. the banter between them is fun and at times sexy. We get a wonderful story of friends who love one another and finally take the chance on each other. A story of a man who comes to terms with who he is and where he belongs. but more important he remembers what truly matters. So does Emma. a great entertaining christmas friends to more story.

Asher has only had room for one love in his life since he was old enough to skate on his own: hockey. For the past several years, he has been enjoying a friends with benefits relationship with Emma and that has seemed to work out well for both of them, but lately Emma is starting to think about the future and whether they can ever be more.
When they first met, they were both professional athletes who shared a love of the thrill of competition and the adrenaline rush that came with it, but after Emma was seriously injured attempting a stunt on the slopes she walked away from competition and focused on healing injured athletes instead. Now, Asher’s own brother Ben injured him and stole his chance at achieving a milestone moment in his career leaving Asher bitter and angry that his brother took sibling rivalry too far. Emma agrees to help him rehab his leg but in the back of her mind she wonders if this is the chance she has been waiting for to finally tell him how she feels.
It quickly becomes obvious that her feelings are not one-sided but Asher is terrified to acknowledge what is in his heart if it means that he will lose his focus and his edge on the ice. He hasn’t accomplished everything he set out to do and he isn’t ready to give up on it yet. He also doesn’t understand why Emma walked away from her career so easily either and decides to show her that life one more time in the hopes she isn’t going to make the mistake of locking in a future career that doesn’t make her happy.
I was enjoying this story up until about the 70% mark or so, but then Emma turned into one of those heroines I really have no patience for. You know the ones who say they are going to fight for what they want no matter what but at the first sign of adversity they turn tail and run scared, sticking their head in the sand and refusing to listen to anyone else or even their own heart for that matter? Yeah, one of those. She talked a good game until it came time to actually back it up with action; then she folded and pushed Asher away at every turn despite his apology and understanding. Even her own sister who I could not stand for most of this book and who was most definitely not a Westmore fan took Asher’s side and tried to call Emma out on her behavior to no avail.
Fortunately it all works out in the end, and the holidays work a little magic for the last single Westmore sibling to find some happiness. We get to see plenty of the rest of Asher’s family along the way so there are plenty of lighthearted moments to go along with the sexy and occasionally dramatic ones. If you haven’t read the Colorado Ice series yet, each of these books can easily be read as a standalone so don’t hesitate to jump in to the series anywhere along the way if you want to give it a try!
This was another heartwarming, holiday read from Jennifer Snow about two best friends who found love with each other. You know me, I'm a sucker for a good friends-to-lovers story, and Maybe This Christmas delivered on the romance big time.
Asher Westmore and Emma Callaway have been best friends for years. Then they became best friends with benefits, which suited both of them just fine. Asher is a hockey placer for New Jersey while Emma is pursuing a snowboarding career. Then life comes at you fast.
For Emma, that change came when she took a serious tumble during a qualifying snowboarding competition for the Olympics, ending her career. These days, she's a physical therapist in her small town of Glenwood Falls. Her friendship with benefits with Ash is going strong but lately, she had been feeling adrift. Not really sure whether she should get back into snowboarding or pursue a doctorate in physical therapy. There's also her relationship with Asher. Emma's feelings for her best friend is definitely deepening and she's not quite sure if he feels the same.
Asher is about to hit a huge milestone of his career. He could almost taste it. But a knee injury and a hard hit from his own hockey-playing brother derailed that milestone for him. Now he's back in Glenwood Falls to recuperate with Emma's help, of course.
She was the one person in the world he always knew he could count on and the only one he wanted to be with.
While this book can be read as a standalone, I would highly recommend that you read the previous books in the series to get a background of Emma and Asher's relationship. I don't think it's necessary but I think it would enhance your reading experience.
That said, I have not read any book in the series prior to this one but I didn't feel lost and I was able to pick up the threads of the story very easily.
I enjoyed how Asher and Emma's relationship transitioned from friends to so much more. It helped that the author already established that these two have an intimate physical connection. At the start of the book, they've been FWB for a long time. Years, I think. So it wasn't a leap in any way.
Despite being friends and then lovers, they both had to deal with a lot of issues not just between them but also with their families and careers.
For Asher it's dealing with his feelings of resentment for his brother Ben, Emma, and the thought of having to give up hockey. who always seem to achieve every accolade that Asher wants without struggle. Emma herself is dealing with a meddling sister and a father who is losing himself daily.
And speaking meddling...Emma's sister Jess got on my last nerve.

I mean, come on! She was positively heinous in her treatment towards Ash, turns up her nose at her sister's accomplishment, and she makes decisions about Emma's lovelife and career without consulting her. Sure, I believe that she's doing it because she loves her sister but gah! It was still annoying. I had to resist the urge to throw my Kindle against the wall whenever she was in the scene because I just can't deal with her meddling.
Fortunately for me, Jennifer Snow was able to write a really convincing romance between Asher and Emma. Despite some hiccups along the way, they were able to deal with their issues like adults. No unnecessary flouncing, drama or whatever. And Ash proved himself to be a really sweet and caring hero worthy of Emma and that one revelation in particular (which I won't spoil here) sealed the deal for me.
So if you're a fan of sports romance and the friends-to-lovers trope, I would recommend this book!

Maybe This Christmas was my introduction to author Jennifer Snow. Who can resist a #HockeyHottie, right? Certainly not me. I really enjoyed the witty banter and family dynamics in this feel-good holiday romance. A good dose of competition and sibling rivalry made it very entertaining.
Asher is the youngest of the Westmore brothers. His two older brothers led the way into hockey and he followed. Now that Ash's brothers have found love they've forgotten their 'sticks before chicks' bro code. He's the only one holding out, refusing to claim a girlfriend. He'd rather focus on his hockey career and when he has the time he enjoys his best-friend-with-benefits, Emma. She used to be an athlete too, but after a career-ending injury, she became a physical therapist. His competitive spirit and drive to win was something she could relate to. They had an easy relationship and could talk about anything. Well, at least they used to be able to when they did it long distance. Now that he's back in their hometown recovering from an injury, they find themselves face-to-face. Will their 'arrangement' stand up to a closer inspection? Will Emma want more than he's willing to give now that he's not traveling with his team?
Emma's been wanting more for a while, but she's been too afraid of losing her best friend to tell him. But now that he's home, it's hard to deny all of those qualities that make him so irresistible. Especially when he's not wanting to deny their chemistry. It's their feelings that are off limits. Will she find the courage to risk it all for the win, or will she just keep pretending she doesn't want more? Would it be better to just walk away than staying to watch him find someone else? Or to watch the 'puck bunnies' chase him when she has no claim?
Oh, and then there are their families. Each has siblings and parents that require their attention, and obligations that force them to evaluate their relationship and their future. Maybe this Christmas will be a new beginning for them... or it might be the end.

This is my first time reading Jennifer Snow, which means that I stepped right into the middle of this series. However, I don’t feel like that had any effect on this story for me.
Ash and Emma are immediately established as longtime FWB so it’s already clear that they have a connection that goes beyond best friends.
Forced by an injury to face head-on a rivalry with his older brother, a possible addiction to pain medications and a future that might not include his best friend, Ash is dealing with a lot. However, he came across as too self-absorbed and assuming. I didn’t like how he just expected that Emma would be sitting around waiting for him to be done with his career so that they could start their future while never having such a conversation with her about it. He’s seemed so caught up in his career achievements and goals that he couldn’t see much past all of that.
Although I didn’t appreciate the way Emma’s sister went about criticizing and judging Emma and Ash, I did agree with her on certain points. Emma did kind of seem like a pushover when it came to Ash, except when she finally wasn’t anymore. It’s like I was waiting for that moment where she would stand up to him and stand up FOR herself.
Overall this story was a simple, easy read that was a good way to meet a new-to-me author. I could see myself picking up the other books in the series sometime soon.
