Quick, steamy and sexy read. Callie and Dallas had off the charts chemistry. I can't wait to see what the next book brings.

Oh, did Dallas Easton ever capture my heart. There is something about Dallas that just made me love him. The whole bad boy image he has going on just made me want to read more of him and know what his story was. The glimpse of him you get in Hard Stick, had me dying to get his story so when Blocked was released I was dying.
Dallas is so cocky, on and off the ice, but there is a side to him I think that surprised himself when he met Callie. The chemistry between these two is unreal. I love that they weren't exactly looking for love and that they had hurdles to get their happily ever after. Callie was just what he needed. She brought out a side to Dallas that was sweet and caring and made me love him even more.
The secondary characters in this story were off the charts as well. I couldn't get enough of them and I hope we get Maverick's story here soon too!
Dallas Easton is a man who is used to acting how ever he damn well pleased for years. Being the goalie for the reigning Stanley Cup hockey team means women throw themselves at him. All but the one Dallas is chasing after Callie Davis who is not falling for all his usual charm. Dallas and Callie are a couple who have to work through their issues before they can have an HEA.
Written in Dover usual great style with lots of emotions and a twist or two you don't see coming.
Dover never disappoints, and she didn't with Blocked either. I love me some sports romance this one had it all drama, the bad boy with a temper, and the nurse to take care of the said bad boy. This is a fast-paced book that will capute you from the first page!
It was such a sweet book with just the right amount of love and heartbreak.
Dallas and Callie were a match made in hockey romance heaven. Callie grew up with hockey-playing brothers and can hold her own with them on and off the ice. Dallas was in for a surprise when they met, and they both do their best at keeping each other on their toes. Fun and sassy.
I admit I’m a sucker for sport romances. I like reading about the arrogant, full of themselves athletes who fall for women that make them work for a place by their side. Blocked is about hockey bad boy, Dallas and sassy tells-it-like-it-is Callie.
Dallas has made hockey the top priority in his life and he doesn’t apologize for it. He pretty much lives and breathes hockey and the perks like money and women might be entertaining fringe benefits but by no means his end game. Dallas He is arrogant, cocky and ambitious. But that all changes when he meets Callie. She doesn’t instantly fall at his feet, in fact she doesn’t have a very high opinion of him after her less than impressive first impression of him and she definitely makes him work for her good favor.
But Dallas’ life style doesn’t offer much in the way privacy. Add the fact that her brother and Dallas are at odds and his wild reputation and womanizing track record make for a shaky foundation. But there’s something about Dallas that calls to Callie and she’s willing to give him, give them, a chance. Will Dallas learn from his past mistakes or will Callie get burned by his bad habits?
Lol, it’s a romance so the ending is obvious but it’s the obstacles the MCs overcome and the choices they make that makes the story. I recommend it if you like sports romance with just as much action on the ice as off.
What I liked:
Callie and Dallas were both likable MCs once you get to know them a little better. They both have smh moments that left me undecided at times and questioning their true motives but the author uses it as a growing/learning experience. I loved Callie’s brothers, they definitely need their own stories! The pace of the story was just right to keep it from slowing down and losing momentum and the angst and drama level were both pretty mild.
What I didn't like:
The opening scene at the party. I wish we could have just skipped that whole OW scene. I really didn’t like the descriptive inner dialogue of Dallas and it took a bit longer for me to warm up to him because of that. It would have made more sense to include that scene if there had been more interaction between Callie and Dallas but after he goes for an easy lay with the OW that gets interrupted by a beer bottle to the head, it just fades to black and we only get hints at what happened after than scene but nothing conclusive.
That scene was easy to put out of my mind until we get backstory on Dallas’ last serious relationship and how he is still friends with his ex and works on a regular basis with her since she is a reporter and a regular in his scene. I don’t do OW/OM and Dallas has two OW (however brief their appearances were) it still felt like one too many.
Then there's Callie, at first I couldn't get a clear picture of her character. She was a bit all over the place when it came to Dallas and her feelings for him. One minute she thinks really little of him and the next she's panting and daydreaming over him. I admit I thought she was unworthy of the heroine role when she decides to "test" Dallas. That was a low blow and not heroine material (imo) I get why she thought she was justified but I didn't have to like it.
Recommended for those that don't mind a slow start, characters with flaws, slight outside drama and a bit of angst, Blocked might be a hit.
3.5 stars
Blocked by L.P. Dover was a good read.
I enjoyed watching the relationship develop between Callie and Dallas, they had great chemistry and both were likable/entertaining characters.
Overall, a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

I liked the book. The couple involved learned a few things along the way. It was a good solid read. I would recommend it to anyone who likes sports romances. It had a couple of humorous parts I quite enjoyed.

Synopsis:
He’s got every reason to be cocky . . . until a female cuts him down to size.
I’m Dallas Easton, the best goaltender in the league. I make a damn good living playing hockey, and with women falling at my feet wherever I go, why not enjoy it? I get whatever I want, whenever I want—that is, until I come across the one player who gets the best of me on the ice.
When I try to pummel the dude, all hell breaks loose. Imagine my surprise when the helmet comes off to reveal a woman underneath. And not just any woman, but the sexiest woman I’ve ever seen. Callie Davis is the complete opposite of the puck bunnies I usually go for, a good girl with sick moves and a selfless streak a mile wide. I need to make amends, but she dodges me at every turn. It doesn’t help that Callie’s brother hates my guts, or that my agent thinks she’s bad for my career.
But I could care less what they think. I can’t let our little run-in on the ice be the end of our story. Because when I set my sights on something, I won’t rest until I score.
My Thoughts:
This is the second book in the series and it definitely had more hockey in it than the first book did; and that made me very happy.
Dallas really had to work hard to get in Callie’s good graces after he realized after their altercation on the ice that the player he was up against was a she. Her brother set Dallas up to take him down a notch or two. The two teammates don’t like each other, at all.
Callie grew up with brother’s, so she knows the player status that comes with the professional hockey player. She wanted nothing to do with Dallas. Callie tried to avoid his attempts to woo her. He persisted!
Will Dallas be able to get Callie to give him a chance to prove he’s someone to take a chance on? You will have to read the book to find out. This is a fun, sexy and at times laugh out loud funny sports romance. I savored every page! I am definitely looking forward to the next book in this series!

I totally enjoyed reading this book! The best part is that the female was a bad ass female and not some love sick puppy.
Dallas Easton is the top goal tender in the league but his reputation in the league is terrible. Now he meets a women one night at the rink when he finds out that she was the one who got the puck past him in practice. He ends up knocking her down and then her brothers who set her up of course are pissed at him. Turns out it is the women who he remembers at the hospital when he woke up from having his head hit with a bottle. Callie Davis the women he pummeled and the women that was also at the hospital when he woke up is a nurse, but is also someone who knows all about Easton and his manwhore ways. He sees in her a women that he wants to change for, to be a better person. The problem is no one thinks he can change. From her, his teammates, his manager. The only person is himself, and his sister who knows he can be different. He starts to show her he can be different, the way he goes about it really makes this story and just when you think everything is going to work out it does not. The evil manager appears. How will he fix it to show her that she is the one for him? He must do something that is totally over the top, and that he does. A very good story to go along with the first book, but you don’t need to read the first one.

Dallas Easton thinks he is God’s gift to hockey and women. He is the best goalie in the NHL and he gets his pick of any woman he wants. He is hot-headed, cocky, and ready to fight at the drop of a hat. But when he gets into a fight, it is an angel who stitches him up and he has to find her to say he is sorry.
Callie Davis is a surgical and ER nurse and loves what she does for a living. She is also the sister of Justin, new teammate of Dallas. Which means that Justin and Dallas hate each other. Growing up with three brothers, they all played hockey. Callie loves to watch her brothers on the ice and she loves to practice with them too.
Dallas wants to know more about Callie, but she wants nothing to do with him because she knows about his past with women. She doesn’t want to be next notch on his bedpost. As he tries to win her over by sending flowers, which she gives to her patients, asking her on a date, which she turns down, he has to figure out some way to get her to see he can change for her.
Can Callie give him a chance to change? Will Dallas screw things up before he gets a chance to show Callie he can chance? Will his past come back to haunt him? Will her brothers step in and keep them apart?
I am loving this series and I love L.P.’s writing style, especially when she is writing about hockey and MMA men. They are so yummy. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with in the next book.

M/F Romance
You don’t necessarily have to read book one, but it helps because characters do make an appearance again from book one.
Dallas is cocky, arrogant, and kind of a hot head. He thinks that he is going to keep living the single life and love it. He has an agent who is constantly harping on him about image, so that was somewhat annoying for me. Dallas meets Callie one night when his teammates are giving him extra practice. Despite being a great keeper, he allows several goals from a teammate and is riled up – he pulls the mask off to find Callie.
Callie is working as a nurse and loves her job. Even though it’s hard to see the sick kids, she loves what she does. She lives with her brothers and even has her cousin, Maddox, constantly checking in on her and protecting her. It is a little over the top in terms of the protection that Callie is given by her brothers.
I also really loved the relationship between her best friend and brother – Hannah and Corey. I thought that it brought some balance to the book, given the dynamic of Callie and Dallas.
Dallas has to work very hard to prove himself to Callie and sometimes that seemed a little one sided. However, there was great chemistry between Dallas and Callie.
I really hope that Maddox gets the next book because I can see tons of drama to come for him.

I really looked forward to the sequel to the first book in this series. I loved Kellan and Kristen in book one. Book two does not let us down either! Dallas and Callie were so fun to read about.
Dallas and his anger issues, then Callie comes in and just sweeps him off his feet. I loved it. It was hilarious watching him fall over himself when she shows that she isn't a pushover and she is much tougher than she appears.
Dallas cracked me up because he was so determined to fix his mistake when he'd first come at Callie (because he thought she was a man) that I couldn't help but love him. And while he was trying to make it up to Callie, he ends up becoming a better person and that is always a beautiful thing to see happen.
I really appreciated how hockey was a big part of the story, but it didn't take over the romance and the character development.
I will say it is a very light-hearted and fluffy story that's cute and lovey dovey, but it was very entertaining and I enjoyed it as a break from the heavier and darker books that I tend to lean toward.

I’m a huge L.P. Dover fan and she never fails on giving a fantastic 5-star read! I seriously couldn’t put this book down and wound up reading the entire thing in one sitting. I think I’m going to go ahead and call this my favorite book of the year.
Dallas Easton is a textbook player – he’s a hockey player in his prime and has a new woman every night. He winds up being bashed over the head and a beautiful angel stitches him up. A few days later, Justin, one of the newest hockey team members, and his siblings challenge Dallas to a duel on the ice and when one of them bests Dallas he attacks… to find the beautiful angel underneath all the hockey pads. Not having realized it was Callie, Dallas feels bad about having attacked her and is now doing everything in his power to get a chance to apologize. However, Callie’s family isn’t letting Dallas anywhere near her. Dallas tries relentlessly to get Callie to agree to a date with him, but Callie makes him jump through a ton of hoops before finally accepting. Then once the two become close, Dallas’s prior commitment to a dating show comes back to bite him.
I absolutely love Callie’s brothers being such a huge part of this book, it made for a real page turner. Dallas is one of my favorite book boys in a long time, he’s hilarious, caring, and fierce – all the best qualities of a book boyfriend! I also love how the author has set up (what I hope) is the next book in this series with Dallas’s trials with the dating show becoming... well I won’t say because that would be a spoiler, but I’m excited to see where this series goes next!

We all know guys like Dallas Easton, the lunkheads, the assholes, the guys with few redeeming qualities. That being said, we also know that most of them do have a few things that make them special and when they let their guard down, we see what that is. Most times, it takes a lot of patience and determination to see beneath the bullshit to see the mushy center. Sometimes it’s worth it and sometimes it’s not. This is one of the times it’s worth the time and effort.
Dallas Easton is a bully on the ice. As he’s one of the best goalies in the league, so he can get away his attitude on and off the ice. He’s also a love ‘em and leave ‘em kind of guy, not one for long term relationships. One of those hook-ups lead to him being struck in a head with a beer bottle and an angel stitched him up. Imagine his surprise when that angel busts his chops on the ice a few days later, and is the sister of one of the newest players on the team.
Callie has been around hockey players her entire life and knows how they play on and off the ice. She’s not surprised by Dallas’ antics that got him hurt, but she wants no part of it. She’s steadfast in her resolve until he surprises her by agreeing to visit the children’s wing of the hospital.
As Dallas and Callie’s relationship grows, factors beyond their control seek to tear them apart. Trust is essential to any relationship and once trust has been broken it’s hard to repair.

This is the second in the series, and any fan will also see links across to the previous book – which is great! I do think that this story stands well on its own, but is even richer with some history, so do go and read Hard Stick.
Dallas is your pretty typical hockey playing stud – with an excess of aggression thrown in – so it isn't really a surprise that any other player would not want him to target their sister as the next woman on his list. However, Ms. Dover has cast him as a man who suddenly understands what he needs and who he might love, which is terribly inconvenient given his next promo project!
We get to see both sides, so we know of the impending disaster, although not quite the cause of it. The buildup is well done, the romance cute – especially for a big burly goal keeper – and the passion is chemistry laden. Lots of fun things thrown in, and an intriguing mystery to be solved regarding Maxwell and "Paige."
The potential for many more stories from this bunch of hockey players is looking good, which makes me super happy – and hopefully, Ms. Dover very busy!

I absolutely loved the moment when Dallas and Callie meet. He’s a competitive NHL goalie with a bad temper and she’s an unknown nobody who keeps getting pucks past him. It’s only after his temper gets the better of him that Dallas realises Callie is a woman – and his teammate’s sister.
This is the start of an unlikely romance between two fiery characters. Dallas isn’t terribly likeable at the start. He’s miserable and quick to anger. He has a puck bunny habit and a terrible track record with women. Callie, on the other hand, is fantastic. She’s a surgical nurse and a hockey player. Before she’ll consider dating Dallas, she sets us a series of embarrassing challenges for him.
This is a light and easy read. It is a fun romantic comedy and I really love the way Dallas evolves through the book. There are tons of characters in this story and I’m looking forward to some of them getting their own books.
I’m going with four stars, not five because the last third seemed to ramble and it felt like the story lost focus for a time. But this is still an entertaining hockey romance.
Sexy & Sweet! Goal! Great read! Blocked is funny, heartwarming and hot! Between a hot as hell hunk with all the moves that don't quit and a smart witty, beautiful sister of a fellow player, who turn his world upside down. his book will keep you glued to the pages.
Dallas was one lucky guy, he had it all. Good looks, ripped body, more money than he could spend and more woman then he could handle. It was great to be him! As the starting goalie for the Charlotte Strikers, and soon to be on the reality TV show Rich and Single as their bachelor, life was good. But when he trips up a fellow players sibling and pulls off their mask to punch them, he comes face to face with the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. He will have to grovel and beg as well as change his bad boy ways if he wants to get any time with this teammates sister.
Callie works full-time as a emergency and surgical nurse. Living with her siblings. But when Dallas, her brother’s team mate with the bad boy reputation and a drop dead gorgeous hunk sets his site on her and doesn’t want to take no for an answer, she has to set her true feelings for him aside, to make sure she wasn’t just another notch on his hockey stick.
But with a sexy hunk putting out all the moves in his repertoire to get her in his bed, will she be able to trust what they have? Will Callie let down her guard long enough to fall? Will Dallas find something he never knew he needed? You will have a hard time putting this down, as you find out the answers to these questions.Don't pass this one up get it now!

Blocked is my first book by LP Dover. 3..75 stars
It was a sexy and easy read that made me laugh and swoon.
This is the second book in the 'breakaway' series by this author. This is a hockey romance story with lots of humor, hot and steamy scenes and some romance. This is an easy book to read with some angst. Reading this book will make you crave to read more. I enjoyed the characters, they were well developed. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future.
Highly recommended

Great funny read! I really enjoyed this book. The first scene had me laughing out loud. Dallas is use to the ladies falling at his feet but when he opens his eye and sees an angel above him he's gone. Callie is use to hockey players, she grew up among three brothers and a cousin, she learned to play rough against them, but they're very protective of her so when Dallas shows interest in her. When Callie puts him to the test he's not what she expected! Great characters, funny story lines, wonderfully done humor makes this a good book to snuggle with.
I found myself dnfing about 25% in. I enjoyed the premise-bad boy redemption & frenemy's little sister romance-only I found the main leads immature and ridiculous acting for their age and careers. The heroine required the hero to humiliate himself repeatedly to show his attraction was sincere. When she forced him to wear a pink bikini to prove his attraction was serious, I was done.
Blocked is my first book by L.P. Dover. This is the second book in the Breakaway series. I can assure you it stands on its own nicely. I enjoy sports books. Mainly because they allow me to escape into a world that I only see as a spectator. The men who are lucky enough to be successful in sports need a type of tunnel vision with most of their energy spent on making it in their competitive world.
Blocked is a sweet story with a hockey player (Dallas Easton) who has the position and fame that he wants and is now, expectantly, ready to work for a woman who steals his heart. Dallas doesn’t get emotionally involved with women. You can find him with a different woman on his arm every other week. His agent comes to him with a reality show deal that he can’t wait to get started. It is ten women in a house with him, and he gets time with all of them until Callie Davis makes him question his decision.
Callie Davis is a nurse and the sister of Justin Davis one of Dallas’ teammates. She knows the life of hockey players from a young age. Callie knows Dallas’ type and won’t be easily fooled by his smooth ways. Callie is aware that once he gets her to bed the challenge will be over and Dallas will move on, so she promises herself that she won’t fall for his tricks. Dallas will not be dissuaded and jumps through all the hoops she puts in his path.
For the most part, I like these two characters. They are realistic and the challenges Callie gives Dallas are funny. I can see a girl growing up with three brothers pulling pranks to get the better of them. The big hurdle for this couple is predictable and a little unrealistic. I’m not sure a man in professional sports can participate in a reality show during the season. His agent should know his contract. Most professional athletes are expected to concentrate on their game during the season so as not to become distracted. That storyline required me to give a couple of hand waves, but it played out sweetly.
My most significant negative about the story is the hockey references. Throughout the novel, Dallas is referred to as the goaltender. While that is technically true, I don’t recall any player, coach, sportscaster referring to the “goalie” in hockey as a goaltender. I may be wrong, but it didn’t feel right when the other players or Callie (who grew up with the game) continually call Dallas the goaltender. It feels like something out of a textbook or another equally dry reference material. Also hockey has three periods, not intervals. That is a huge penalty.
The other not too critical comment I have is that I never understood why Justin Davis dislikes Dallas so much even before he starts dating his sister. I get that he used to play on another team, but once his contract is signed, he needs to be team Strikers. The Strikers are a winning team albeit with some unrealistic stats. Justin needs to have his goalie’s back. Fans would rebel, in my opinion. It is possible that this is a storyline carried over from book one but an explanation sentence would be nice.
The ancillary characters in the book and to the story and stir interest in finding out more about them. One couple is featured in the first book. However, I can see where three or four more books can spin-off from these characters. I’m sure that Maddox and Lacey have a story and I want to know what that is.
If you like hot athletes, steamy sex scenes, and fun characters, you will enjoy Blocked. It is a fast read and a relaxing way to spend a weekend sitting comfortably by the fire.
Awesome contemporary hockey/sports romance. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Dallas is considered to be the best goaltender in the professional league. Some of his problems are his arrogance (somewhat deserved), the way he reacts to things he doesn't like (beating other players to a pulp), and that he's a womanizer (women do line up for their shot at him). Callie is the sister of the newest member of the team. She loves her job as a nurse but also loves hockey as a sport. They hit it off but it doesn't take long before the pressures and Dallas's popularity take a toll. I received a complementary copy of this book via Netgalley. I look forward to reading future books by this author.
