Dallas is the regular hockey bad boy. The Charlotte Striker's goalie is arrogant, hot tempered, and he assumes he's God's gift to women. With encouragement from his agent, Dallas signs up to be on a reality show like The Bachelor. How can his life get any better?

Dallas thinks women should fall at his feet, however he got his ass kicked at a party because he was hooking up with someone else's girlfriend. Full disclosure- He didn't know she had a boyfriend. He assumed she was a puck bunny. Callie's a nurse, so she jumped in and saved the day. She didn't realize the man she's saving is her soulmate. Dallas thinks she's his angel.

Callie is new to Charlotte. Her brother is a newbie on the championship Charlotte Strikers. Her brothers are overprotective, but Callie can hold her own. She knocks Dallas down a few notches when she kicks his ass in a hockey game. Callie handles Dallas' ego like cake. She gives him a few "tasks" before she agrees to a date. Did I mention the tasks are humiliating? Oh yes, his team have serious blackmail material.

Callie's overprotective brother Justin warns her to stay away from Dallas, but Callie's a big girl. She trusts him, but she doesn't want to be seen as the gir

l who tamed The Charlotte Striker's bad boy. Dallas convinces her he wants to change. Under the giant ego and hot temper, Callie finds out Dallas is a good guy. Must to Justin's horror, Callie continues to see Dallas and dives right off the cliff into the love pond.

Tabloid photographers follow the lovebirds. Hang on! They don't ride into the sunset yet!! The tabloids almost crush the couple like an aluminum can when they publish a fictitious story about Dallas! One substantial truth was in the story—the reality show. (Dallas conveniently forgot to tell Callie about it) Dallas orders his agent to get him out of it, but his agent is a self serving bastard.

If you enjoyed L.P. Dover's "Hard Stick" you'll enjoy Blocked. Good news Kristen/Kellan fans- Kellan and Kristen have a subplot storyline! Kellan and Kristen play matchmaker while enjoying wedded bliss. Their storyline continues as a subplot.

Blocked is an entertaining, comedic romance, although it has a little angst. If you aren't searching for something huge, you should pick up Blocked or Hard Stick.

This one just didn’t do it for me. The writing was pretty good, but the characters left something to be desired. The heroine is unnecessarily combative (despite how the two first meet) and the hero just takes it and takes it (not really his personality). The chemistry also felt forced or not as obvious as it’s written. I’ve listed a few things, but at the end of the day, it just didn’t move me.

I received an ARC of this book, from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I am big fan of hockey romances and so I requested this book early on prior to reading Book 1 in this series.
Book one unfortunately missed the mark for me and this book was a bit better but still lacked something that would have had me rating it a higher.

The story starts out with a bang and the way in which Dallas and Callie meet definitely had me excited for this book.
I did enjoy some of the banter back and forth between the two of them and definitely enjoyed some of the conflict that this book had due to Callie's brothers. There was just something lacking for me and I didn't feel the chemistry between Callie and Dallas.

While yes this is a bit of an insta love that I truly didn't mind as I do love insta romances I felt that this storyline lacked the connection between the two to back up the insta love if that makes sense. Perhaps I was wanting more insight into Dallas and Callie's feelings of that insta love.

I will say that the other characters in this story did intrigue me and I am curious to see Lacey and Maddox's story as well as Justin's.

If you loved book 1 of this then I do think you will most likely love book 2. However for me it missed the mark a bit.

Another great hockey romance from LP Dover. I liked the characters and the story was fun, but the chemistry wasn't quite as strong for me as in the first book of this series. I will definitely read more by Dover though, always fun, quick reads.

Dallas Easton is the hot NHL goalie for the Carolina Strikers and he knows it and the fans know it. His fame, skills and good looks have made him quite the playboy. When one player gets a few pucks past him on the ice, Dallas gets ready to pummel him, only to realize it was actually a woman, Callie Davis, a selfless nurse with who is good on her skates. Dallas tries to makes amends with Callie but he has to get past Callie's three brothers, one of which is Dallas' teammate. But Dallas doesn't care what they think, and he is used to getting what he wants, and he wants Callie.

From the start, I was SO into this book. I mean by favorite hockey player is a goalie so I am all about goalie, hockey romances and this one did not disappoint. Dallas is cocky, but Dover does a good job still giving him redeeming qualities and his cocky nature made all that Callie made him do extremely gratifying. Callie makes Dallas jump through all these hoops and he does so with a sexy smile and a wink. He also catches her off guard with some of his attempts to prove himself which were silly and cute. This book was fun and made me giggle and keep reading for more.

Blocked also has some some great characters. Besides Callie and Dallas, I loved Callie's brothers and how much they all cared for each other. It was a great family dynamic. The other characters on the peripheral did a good job adding to the story rather than just being another name or another hockey player (which is a trap some hockey romances fall into is just naming everyone all the time).

Additionally, I liked how this book can be read as a stand alone (which I did) but it also hints at further books to come in the series and the book before it following Kellan and Kirsten (which I just bought and can't wait to read). It was a really good stand alone romance that also offers more if the reader wants to continue with the Strikers team. I definitely will continue to follow this author and series. I love a good hockey romance series and I think this series is going to be a good one as it continues.

I liked the story overall. Some of the antics of the characters was a little childish but life and brothers are like that. Not quite sure I agreed with one of the trials Callie puts Dallas through or the fact that she jumps to believing the worst of him very fast but then again this happens in most stories you read as well as in life. People act on their emotions first rather than think through things logically. They are a cute couple it was worth it to see their transition from pre-relationship banter to actual relationship. Even Callie’s brother’s reactions and how protective they are of her are pretty true to life.

I love reading hockey romances, and was looking forward to reading Dallas's story. However this story was so-so for me. The characters were okay, I just didn't connect with them. I've read numerous books from this author and I've always liked them.

I received this from Netgalley.

Blocked started off with a bang that immediately grabbed my attention! Hot hockey goalie? Badass babe that challenges him at every turn? Hell yes. Totally my jam. But sadly, after the first few chapters, I found myself bored. The progression of the relationship was a little too easy, and I'm not entirely convinced that there was any chemistry between Dallas and Callie. Idk. A minor case of insta-love that just didn't sit right with me, maybe? And it's not like I'm an insta-love hater. It just didn't work with these characters. With that being said, the story picked up again closer to the end, making this an average read.

As much as I adored Hard Stick, I think I might've loved Blocked even more. The characters and the romances in the Breakaway series just keep getting better and better. I am freaking addicted.

Quick overview. The Breakaway series is about the Charlotte Strikers hockey team and it is filled with some really cocky and charming players. Each new book is filled with enticing swagger and all consuming romantic storylines. They're awesome books.

This time we're getting to know the man in front of the net. Dallas is sexy as hell and one of the best goaltenders in the League. But he also has an awful temper and is a bit of man whore. So when he finds himself smitten with one of his teammates sisters, Callie, he knows he's going to have to work twice as hard to prove to her that he is worthy of her time and affection.

It is an amazing courtship and it left me a completely smitten momma. But as much as I wanted to devour Dallas, I wanted to be friends with Callie. She's clever and funny. Real. And I loved how she put him through the paces - that she didn't just rip her panties off and let him have her goods.  It made for a wicked entertaining book.

However, what truly endears me to this series is that as a hockey fan, it feels realistic. The unchecked aggression and passion that these athletes have comes across the written page so well. L.P. Dover deserves a massive round of applause for the series.  It is a must read recommendation from me and I cannot suggest reading it enough.  Grab your copy today!

This book would have received a 5, however, I have a big issue when women are called female by the alpha male in the story and vice versa....REALLY!!! In what story does someone say....I didn't know is was a female????

3.5 stars

I liked the two characters a lot, they were fun and likeable. But what did they see in each other? Why did they fall so hard and fast? It's a shame that the author didn't show us any of that. I didn't understand why him wearing a pink bikini would show he had the ability or desire to be faithful. He is known for his big personality and he's a high jinx kind of guy, so pink bikini wearing is hardly a test??? Weird.

I really liked the fast pace and the interactions with the wider cast, I felt it was well written esp the dialogue but less well thought through.

Why on earth would any sensible girl encourage a complete man whore not to wear a condom?! Yuk! Turned me right off her. Same with the ending - giving up everything for him - urgh.

The hockey playing scenes read really well, less so all the other hockey stuff. You're about to go into the final play offs for the Stanley Cup and you let your goalie start filming a new reality TV series? Surely he would have been sequestered away with the rest of the team? And as for no one knowing? What stupidity is that - if the team are going to be filmed and their venue used they need to have signed waivers etc.

The Maddox side story has potential but I didn't think it was well executed which was a shame as Maddox came across so well. I thought the hockey playing genius who hadn't gone to college but could coach a graduating doctor in bio chem also wasn't believable nor was the new team coach. Nor was the coach bit needed.
Shame as it is well written and there was a lot of good stuff that developed could make this 5 stars.

He’s got every reason to be cocky . . . until a female cuts him down to size.

I’m Dallas Easton, the best goaltender in the league. I make a damn good living playing hockey, and with women falling at my feet wherever I go, why not enjoy it? I get whatever I want, whenever I want—that is, until I come across the one player who gets the best of me on the ice.

When I try to pummel the dude, all hell breaks loose. Imagine my surprise when the helmet comes off to reveal a woman underneath. And not just any woman, but the sexiest woman I’ve ever seen. Callie Davis is the complete opposite of the puck bunnies I usually go for, a good girl with sick moves and a selfless streak a mile wide. I need to make amends, but she dodges me at every turn. It doesn’t help that Callie’s brother hates my guts, or that my agent thinks she’s bad for my career.

But I could care less what they think. I can’t let our little run-in on the ice be the end of our story. Because when I set my sights on something, I won’t rest until I score.

So Dallas comes across as a total tool...you have to know that going in. He's not the greatest person and it's really hard to like him....like ALOT!! However Callie is hard not to like. Her brothers are hockey players and my favorite part is where they put Callie in the hockey practice game and Dallas "tries" to beat her up...ummm it doesn't go the way he plans because her brothers have her back. She's one great player though. There's a lot about Callie that just touches your heart. She's good to the bone and once again LP did an awesome job on this series. I'm loving it and cannot wait for Playmaker...that is going to be awesome!! If you haven't read this series....get on this ASAP!

I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own and do not reflect anyone else's.

Whilst I enjoyed this book I did find it a little predictable. The story of Callie and Easton is a story of story of star crossed lovers in the ice hockey world who try to overcome her family and other issues. Whilst I understood where Callie came from not sure about Easton.

Being sucked into that literary vortex of all things melancholy and depressing for quite some time now, I needed to put aside the dark that I generally love and read something uplifting. She picks! She scores! lol I LOVED this book! I really wish I could give this book a higher rating. It was a steamy and fun read. Dallas and Callie were both likable/lovable characters with plenty of chemistry. The storyline was good and the plot moved right along. L.P. Dover never disappoints and I am looking forward to the next book.

Great well paced sports romance with a unique opening! Hilarious scene when cocky hockey goaltender Dallas goes after the dude who slips the puck past him in a practice session with mostly nonprofessional hockey players. Turns out the dude isn't; it's one of his teammate's sister, Callie.

It's insta-attraction for playboy Dallas but Callie thinks he's just another "love 'em and leave 'em" kind of guy...which he is. She has a lot of reasons to believe that's all Dallas is...like her brother and cousin who are on the same hockey team as Dallas. Plus, having had to tend to Dallas's injuries sustained at a party when he was in a compromising position just a few days earlier didn't help his reputation with her.

Even as Dallas tries to show Callie he's changed and she's different from all the others, she's bent on "testing him". Some of it is sweet, in a "he can be a thoughtful guy with others" way (don't want to reveal a spoiler here) while some of what she asks him to do is completely outrageously embarrassing (bordering on humiliating). Not a fan of that...there goes one star...

However, once you get beyond that, Dallas's determination in showing Callie she's the one is sweet. Though their road isn't as smooth as ice (hahaha!), it's a very satisfying journey to follow!

Looking forward to Lacey and Maddox's story...

I didn't have a strong opinion of this book. It was a good book with likeable enough characters but nothing out of the ordinary. It needed more of a bang .
Also, I wasn't sure if this was a new or young adult book. The biggest issue I had with the book is that they are in the NHL but act like high schoolers

Dallas Easton, a goaltender for North Carolina Jaguar is a cocky, an arrogant and a womanizer. He was never been rejected by a female until he met Callie who happens to be his teammate Justin Davis’s sister.
Dallas was called to practice some more with Davis’s brothers. He blocked all the pucks except couple by one of Justin’s brothers and he was ready to charge and hit but when he finds out it was female. He couldn’t believe he lost it to a girl.
All the humiliation a side, ever since he lost to Justin’s sister, Dallas couldn’t get her off his mind. She looked familiar and he wanted to know more about her. He also wanted to explain his actions but she won’t give him any chance. Callie being around brothers growing up and she knew all about Dallas’s reputation.
Dallas was determined to talk to Callie by using all his resources including his captain Kellan and his wife Kristen (1st book hero/heroine) and her work. He was sending flowers and he was willing to anything Callie was asking. Callie was so sure he would give up soon but he was persistent and determined to win at least a date.
Callie was warming up the idea of going out with Dallas. He was willing to change his lifestyle for her and she wanted to give him a benefit of doubt. It was big step for both.
She doesn’t like to play games and doesn’t want to keep everything a secret from all her brothers and Justin really hates him.
Once Callie and Dallas started seeing each other, everything was publicized and everybody was skeptical. More Dallas knows about Callie, he feels she is the one for him but his agent is pushing him to do reality show.
One thing Callie can’t stand is someone who lies. What will Dallas to do to win her heart? He was bind to do the show or he would financially broke. What will he do? And plus cliffhanger about Maddox and Dallas’s sister Lacey Paige...

Dallas did really cute things to win Callie’s heart. I did like all the characters and Dallas did warm up to me as the book progressed. It was perfect summer read.. I am sure there will be more books from this series.. I can’t wait to read about Maddox and Lacey.

I read romance as a guilty pleasure. When I'm tired of the mysteries or horror I come back to romance as a palate cleanser and I really enjoy that. Sometimes you need a guaranteed happily ever after!

This, however, I did not enjoy. I DNF at about 75%. This is the first book I've read by this author and I will not pick up another. The author throws a ton of characters at you right from the beginning and I had trouble keeping track of who was who. Their actions were over the top and immature, especially Callie's. Do you really need to humiliate and emasculate someone to "prove" their love for you? I get that Dallas is kind of an ass but would we accept this if the genders were reversed? I also get that this is a book about hockey, and hockey is a violent sport, but when Callie punches Dallas because she "had to" I almost stopped reading right then. Again, would this be acceptable in reverse? This author, and book, just weren't for me.

Loved it! I'm so glad I got the chance to read this book it was so good. I loved the drama that Dallas brought to the story but I also loved the playfulness that he brought as well. Callie was a strong character & just the right person to set Dallas on his ear. I truly loved it when he went to all kinds of trouble when apologized not once but twice. The emotions ran on high during this story. With the antagonism of teammates between Callie's brother Justin & cousin Maddox & Dallas you didn't know if the fists were going to fly or if the hot sparks arcing between Callie & Dallas every time they were near each other were going to set something on fire besides them, to the anger over the cruel things that Dallas's agent did & the awww of Dallas's last grand gesture, we got to ride that emotional roller coaster with them. I also enjoyed how Kristen, Kellan & Hannah were all quietly (or not at times) pushing them closer to each other. This book is definitely a recommend to read. I can't wait to see who the next one is about now!
