A heartwarming, fun, romantic novel, where the guy has to prove himself! And that he does in ways you'll never guess. I loved this book, it was fun, romantic and had surprises in it I didn't see coming. There has to be a sequel to this one, because there is unanswered questions left unanswered. I look forward to the next one! This is one of those novels you will read straight through, unable to put the book down! Bravo to the author for well developed characters and a story line that will actually leave you waiting for the next segment!

The title, Blocked, could stand for a couple of things in this book. Dallas is a Goaltender, but he's also blocked from getting close to Callie from her brothers and herself. She really made him work for it. Humiliated him in front of his team and everything, he was such a good sport about it all though. I think I would have fallen in love with him just from that.
Blocked is a great book and there's a lead up to other books coming in the series that left me craving more.

I was so looking forward to a good hockey romance.... but this one missed the mark. I ended up DNF it. It was immature and kind of boring.

I was a huge fan of Hard Stick when I read it. It is rarely a book can blow me away and Hard Stick did that. So when I saw that Blocked was up for review on NetGalley, I immediately requested it. I squeed like a little girl when I saw the book on my shelf as approved and waiting to be downloaded. I couldn’t wait to read it but at the same time, I was nervous. Usually, when I love a book that is the first book in a series, the second one never lives up to my internal hype.
Blocked exceeded my expectations. While I didn’t love it as much as Hard Stick, I enjoyed reading about Callie, Dallas, and their romance. I enjoyed that Charlotte, NC was again the backdrop for a great hockey romance. I enjoyed the humor that was peppered throughout the book. I was laughing my butt off while reading. A book that can make you laugh is a book that you need to keep.
There were parts of Blocked that I didn’t like. I thought that Callie’s brother, Justin, was a grade A idiot with anger issues. He got on my nerves, big time. While I could understand why he was being so protective of Callie, I kind of wanted to tell him “She’s 28, brah. Let her make her own decisions.”Callie had to hide that she was dating Dallas because of how Justin would react. Which made me do an internal “Ugh“.
Dallas was a manwhore. No beating around the bush. He liked the ladies and they liked him back. Not only that, he was going to be on a Bachelor like show called Rich and Single. Callie was well aware of his reputation. She was there when he got his head beat in by the boyfriend of a girl he was going to screw. Even I was a little surprised when he stopped his manwhore ways and decided to try to settle down with Callie. Only that things can never go as planned and in this case, everything went sideways….fast.
While Callie was a sweetheart and I liked her, she was a tad immature. When the going got tough for her and Dallas, what does she do? She refuses to listen to Dallas’s side of the story. She thinks the worst….even though he has done nothing to prove otherwise. Other than that, I thought she was sweet and had a great sense of humor. The whole Dallas skating around in a hot pink bikini because she lost a bet scene in the book cracked me up.
The sex scenes between Callie and Dallas were hot. They were like bunnies and did it everywhere. My favorite sex scene was the pool one. I am not into sex in the water but this one almost made me rethink my stance on it.
The end of the book was great. I ugly cried during it because it was perfect. The epilogue was even better. I am hoping that Maddox and Lacey’s story is the next one because I want to know the secret that Lacey has.
My Summary of Blocked: 4 Stars
Blocked is the great 2nd book in the Breakaway series. Not falling to the 2nd book curse, Blocked is a fun, sensual read. This will be on my keeper shelf. It has fleshed out characters, a great plotline and in-depth world building.
Will I reread: Yes
Will I recommend to family and friends: Yes
Age range: Adult
Why: Sex, language, and some mild violence

I really like this one I am a sucker for hockey romance books and Ms. Dover delivered again. This is the second book in the series and I have to say I liked this one a lot better than the first one. I think Dallas is one of my new favorite characters. I did like that we got glimpses of the characters from the first book, looking forward to the next one.

I love hockey romance, so I was excited to read this second book in L.P. Dover's Breakaway series, but unfortunately I struggled with this one quite a bit.
Dallas Easton is a great hockey player and is one of the "bad boys". He's known for being a womanizer and not wanting to commit to one person. Dallas ends up meeting Callie Davis in an unconventional way and when he realizes that he he both needs to apologize for what happened when they met and he is attracted to her, he wants to apologize and explore that attraction. Yet she wants no part of it.
Callie works overtime to avoid Dallas. When he finally is able to talk to her, they end up making a bet and dependent on who wins they either start over from scratch or they stay a secret. Part of all of this is the dislike Callie's brothers have for Dallas because of his attitude and playboy ways. They don't want to see their sister hurt.
As Callie gets to know Dallas better, will she see that he's really not the person she thought he was or is she in for a rude awakening that her instincts were right from the get-go?
Dallas was in the first book and while he had the "bad boy" rep from the beginning, I felt like there was nothing at the beginning of this book to make me like him. He was arrogant and he almost felt sleazy. With Callie, I felt like her antics were very juvenile when she felt she had to "test" Dallas to see if he was really being sincere. They aren't in high school, they are both professionals and while I wanted to be endeared to these two, I just didn't connect. I also felt like there were some things in the book that would never happen in real life where hockey is concerned and as a rabid hockey fan, that bothered me a great deal.
With all that said, I am intrigued by Lacey's story, which I anticipate might be next in the series and if so, I would like to see how that one plays out.

I have read a few hockey romances and they were ok. But Blocked was better than just ok. It was really good. I love Dallas and Callie's relationship. It did not start off well at all but Dallas did everything he could to get his girl. Even go through some very protective brothers.
Dallas seemed to mature more because of Callie.. BC (Before Callie) he was arrogant and not a team player. After Callie he stepped up when needed.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to review this book.

Oh I just love it when a bad boy is brought to his knees by love!
Dallas Easton is the sexy bad boy of the NHL. The best Goalie around and he knows it. When he meets his match on the ice he is shocked to learn it is a woman, even more shocked when he can't stop thinking about her.
Callie Davis is new in town, working as a nurse, and living with her brothers. One of them the newest member of Dallas' team. Justin is overprotective, overbearing, and will do whatever it takes to keep Dallas away from his sister.
While at times I felt that both characters were acting a bit immaturely. I mostly found them endearing and loveable. Some scenes were so funny I couldn't help but laugh out loud, even in a room full of people who looked at me like I was insane.
This book also has some amazing side characters that I'd love to see get a story of there own. I can't wait to see what Dover brings us next in this series.

Very well written with a different sports romance. I loved the story because of that.
Drama, action and romance makes this a great read.
Both main characters has to struggle to come to a place in life where they can have their HEA. They have lots of chemistry between them and their characters are well described. I like that there is a woman who fights to become a known hockey player.
Absolutely worth the read.

Loved Callie and Dallas' story. Emotional read with some laughs. Very engaging. There's an instant attraction between Callie and Dallas when meet. Dallas is a player and Callie is his teammate's sister. They face a lot of challenges trying to have a committed relationship. Recommended read. Love this series. Can't wait for Maddox and Lacey's story.

Dallas Easton, 29, goaltender for the Charlotte Strikers. He is Rich and Single, handsome and a man-whore with a hot temper.
Callie Davis, 26, the feisty sister of the new addition to the team. She is a nurse who likes to shoot the puck at times.
Upon meeting they are immediately taken with each other but, because of Dallas’s reputation with women, Callie keeps him at arm’s length. The chemistry between them is sizzling and off the charts. With the help of Kristen Carter she starts putting him through some (IMO childish) tests to see if he would stick around.
They do banter back and forth but eventually do get together.
Reading Blocked left me wanting to read the next book in the series. I even wouldn’t mind reading about all the characters from this series.
ARC kindly provided by Netgalley in exchange for a honest review.
Part of the Breakaway series that can be read as a standalone

I was looking forward to read about Dallas. I liked him so much in the previous book but all I can say is Meh!
(insert a frustrated imoji here)
Callie drove me up a wall and annoyed the hell out of me.
Full review to come close to release day.

A good light read, with a typical sports man storyline. Good fun but predictable!
Looking forward to reading the next book.

Would love to read something by this author again! The story was well thought out and the characters were very likable!

I was given an arc from NetGalley in exchange for an honest and independent review.
Another fun and sassy romantic story from LP Dover with an extremely hot hockey player Dallas, a true bad boy in every sense. I really enjoyed the way he pursued Callie romantically and the way she held him off, something quite clearly he was not used to.
Although the storyline is fairly formulaic, with a predictable ending, I enjoyed reading it. Pure escapism, steamy and sweet and a quick easy read.
3.5***

I loved this book. This was the second book I have read from L.P. Dover. The more I read of her books the more I fall in love with her stories.
Blocked was a sweet story and had more hockey than the first book in the series.
Dallas is a NHL goalie and a player. Callie is an ER nurse and the sister of one of Dallas's teammates, Justin. Justin and Dallas do not get along.
Callie doesn't trust or like Dallas, but Dallas is determined for the first time to make Callie seem him differently. Will Dallas's player past come back to haunt them? Will Callie be able to overcome the rumours and tabliods?
I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

Wow I love Logan. He is one confident take no prisoners kind of guy. He sees what he wants and goes for it. Callie is one feisty fun loving loyal women. She stands up for what she believes in. They make for one feisty explosive couple. Could not wait to see where the story would go. A must read.

The characters were very immature in this book. It was hard to really get into this story and look past the pettiness and immaturity.

This is the first book I have read by LP Dover and even though I started with second in the Breakaway series, I didn’t feel left behind (I am going back to read the first one). The characters were believable. Hockey player Dallas Easton who happens to be the goaltender is your typical bad boy who has all the women he wants. What he didn’t count on was wanting the one woman he can’t have. Callie Davis’ brother plays on the same team and does not like Dallas – at all. But Dallas is not one to let things go and Callie isn’t making it easy on him.
Great book and can’t wait for the rest of the series.
