Elemental Mating

Elemental Mating had a good starting at first. It tells the story of Melinda Caster who works in a virus research lab in Uganda, Africa, and has found a new virus that might give powers to the children of the infected. As Melinda mentions this to her superiors, Perish Hamel arrives under the disguise of and Oversight doctor, but he’s actually there to protect her. The moment that Hamel meets Melinda, he finds out that Melinda is her mate, whom he as a shapeshifter has been looking all his life. After having the sexiest dream, Melinda has ever had featuring Hamel, the next day her lab is broken into and some of her research is stolen. From this point on, is where I feel that the story started to fall apart and take a different turn that it appeared it was going.

I didn’t like the character of Melinda, other times female characters that act tough and smart work well for fantasy/paranormal novels, but in this case, I don’t think she worked right. Melinda came out childish and being a smartass, and seem to not care for the dangers around her.

Another problem that I had was that I had a hard time following up the conversation between characters. At one point, I wasn’t sure which character was saying what, it seems that the same character sometimes asked a question and answered it itself, but it actually was the other one who reply.

I’m a fan of paranormal and fantasy books, and I started reading this book because of the idea of shapeshifters and supernatural creatures, but once the story got to the villains, I wasn’t expecting that. I don’t think that ghost-demons balance well with shapeshifters, and then it became too farfetched for the first book in the series.

I started reading the second story, but I just couldn’t get my head into it, so I don’t have much to say about it. It advertised as books 1st, 2nd, and 3rd of the series, but the actual 3rd book was just a preview of the whole story.

This is such an awesome deal getting to amazing books and one. Blow our reviews for both books individually, and I have to say that I love this new series that Milly Taiden is writing and I can’t wait to see more!

Book 1 Elemental Mating
I love Milly Taiden books! She does something special with shifters and is able to captivate her readers from the start. I was excited to see she was going to have a new series and once I started I knew it would quickly because one of my favorites.

Hamal was awesome! Watching him from right the mating Instincts was funny but at the same time, he's protective nature was amazing to see. I loved his personality.

Melinda was headstrong, and very smart. I'm not sure this author knows how to write a week heroine. It's a very good thing in my book. You could see her live for her job, and I love that.

The plot was interesting. I will say that some of it confused me with the whole viruses and it trying to understand the different things, but the author did a good job at outing in layman terms. It was fascinating to see not only working inside the lab, finding out the results, but I love the mice!!! Once you read the book, you will understand why. Towards the end, we get a whole new setting that blew me away. I would love to see more about it!

Overall Milly has done it again. She makes not only the settings seem so erotic, but each character has they one unique characteristics. I can't see where the author is going to take the rest of this series and the other characters. I wish we had gotten a chance to really meet them, so that we could anticipate their books, but I'm still excited! 4 Stars

Book 2 Mating Need

I love this author. She doesn’t let me down when I’m in need to an awesome love story that has a sassy, make no apologies type heroine. If y’all haven’t read her books you need to. The PDA series is one of my top paranormal series and I hope it never ends, and while this is part of a new series, I have to say I love it just as much.

Amerella was spunky and charismatic. She had such a huge heart when we get into the met of the story that you can’t help but be inspired by her. Frank was alllll man! Totally yummy and understanding. I couldn’t help it root for them from the start. Their attraction for each other and the fact that they are faded mates was easy to see and accept even through everything else that was going on.

The author has a real talent for pulling me in and keeping me intrigued from start to finish. There is action, heat, humor, and an awesome corky small-town that you can’t help but love. This book had a significant impact on my emotions while I was reading it.

The main thing I wish had been different and hard to rate was the lack of shifting. This is a shifter book with action and while it was an important aspect of the story, I felt that it was pushed back behind everything else. So because of that I can only give it 4 stars. even with that, I can’t wait to see what’s going to come next in the series. #2OCCJD
