I really enjoyed the book, it has everything I love in a novel from start to finish. I can’t wait to read what the author has planned next!
This was not at all what I expected from a rocker book. It was a pleasant surprise. Sam is coming off tour and he fears he is turning into an alcoholic. He has his manager find a remote place for him to stay for a couple months to get himself back into shape and to write the next album he is in contract for.
Faith is a widow and single mom who took a chance and bought a bed and breakfast that also has cabins on the property. This way she can raise her daughter close to her while working. This so happens to be the place Sam's manager chooses to send him for his regrouping.
For a rocker book, this was actually pretty cute. You got a 5 year old little girl, a dog and a down to earth bombshell who doesn't know who Sam is. There attraction is immediate but not pursued. It was more a slow burn that allowed the reader to see these to get drawn in slowly.
I kept expecting to for a nasty ex or groupie to pop up in the story and was pleasantly surprised to see the author kept it all about Faith, her daughter and Sam. She did provide us with some great side characters that had me immediately researching to see if they have their own books. I'm happy to say they do and pre-ordered them on the spot.
Great story! ARC provided by NetGalley.
I found myself wanting to finish this book but not loving it too.
It's a small town romance which I love as all the characthers are very supportive and know one another well, the twist is a rock legend comes to hide away.
Faith is a single mum, she is a widow and runs a b&b in the quiet town of Dale, it's her quiet season so she happily takes a long term booking. Faith is a woman with morals, and a strong mummy that knows how to fight when she has to. She has forgotten to be a woman of late, until her new guest arrives!
Sam Castle is a star, his successful and has a supply of woman wanting him, he also has no focus and is slipping down a dangerous path of alcholol. He wants to hide away from the world and pull himself together and hopefully write an album. He doesn't expect to find a sexy widow as his temporary landlady.
The romance side is very gradual and there is another storyline thrown in to add some angst.
It's an easy read, with some sexy scenes. Sometimes there is a sex scene that doesn't work and this book had one for me- when Faith is pleasuring Sam she cups her breasts around his 'piece' while pulling him in elsewhere?? It's worded differently, that's just my explanation. I found myself lifting my boobs and tilting my head trying to figure this out - hubby did come in and ask what I was up to and offered to test it out lol!!
Im giving this 3 stars.
ARC review
in this contemporary romance, musician sam castleton finds love in the hills of georgia with faith evans, the owner of a small bed & breakfast/hunting lodge. he's got a serious case of writer's block and a record due, and on top of that his last tour has left him so empty and overwhelmed that he's resorted to drinking to excess.
renting out the entire lodge to secure his privacy and find a way to get himself back on track, the last thing sam expects is to connect with faith. she's a single mom who has no idea who he is. she couldn't be further from his rock-and-roll lifestyle if she tried. and yet, maybe someone who has no expectations from him is exactly who he needs.
the fact that he is attracted to her doesn't hurt either. and the fact that she inspires him. well, that's even better. even if the music is a departure from his angry, anti-authoritarian rock anthems. what makes sam and faith such a great couple in storming the castle, is that they bring out the best in each other even as they learn that they are more than what they thought they could be. when they are together they really are their best selves.
i also loved that there was no huge drama or crazy separation where they had to beg each other for forgiveness. they had a little fight, stewed about it for about half a day and then had a rational adult conversation. i love it when the couples in romance novels behave like rational adults. too often they suddenly become soap opera caricatures to create drama and i find that so unnecessary.
but that is not the case here. it's a sweet, enjoyable romance. the perfect thing to read on a lazy summer afternoon.
This was quite a sweet romance! I liked it quite a bit and plowed through it! It was so readable and fun! I loved the characters and the whole set up. A rock star and a small town girl ... yes, please! I love that trope! Faith and Sam were a great couple from the start and I loved watching them come together. I especially like that Faith was such a wonderful mother and a strong person in her own right. Sometimes in romance, the female can seem all 'save me' so I enjoyed that Faith was portrayed as a strong single mom who doesn't need to be saved. I liked the side characters a great deal and think they added that something special to the story. I really enjoyed this sweet romance! I definitely recommend it!
This was a good story I really enjoyed. Sam a musician who has lost his desire to make music and is lost in life period decides he wants to get away from everyone and clean his life up. He ends up in a small town in Georgia at an hunting lodge. There he meets the owner Faith, who is happy in life overall just trying to make ends meet to support herself and daughter. Faith lost her husband 5 years ago and is happy with her life the way it is, though she hasn't let herself live either. Its been all about the lodge or her daughter. During his stay at the lodge Sam and Faith grow closer to each other and there feeling grow but with him only there for a limited time they are both taking things slow. This was a great story about learning to live again and I really enjoyed it. Loved the supporting characters in the book and the love story was perfect. I look forward to more of Ms. Hart's work. Honest review in exchange for ARC.
I'm not a huge fan of rock star romances but I did really enjoy this one. Granted there isn't much about is rock star life in the story. It's simply a feel good romance with very little angst and a nice build to the conclusion. The writing is excellent and the characters are very well done. My only minor complaint about the book is that it got a bit bogged down in the middle. I would have like a quicker pace to the story. Overall a very entertaining read and a book I would definitely recommend.
Sam Castle has been working and touring for what seems like all his life. Living hard and fast, drinking way too much. He knows he needs to get away and reset his life so after his last tour stop he falls off the grid and stays at a small B&B in never heard of Dale, GA. That's where he meets the very beautiful innkeeper Faith Adams and her young daughter. The time they spend together and the simple life of this community heal Sam's tattered soul. Now all he has to worry about is his heart.
I really enjoyed this book, especially once Sam opened up and we got to see the real Sam. Watching him grow and accept that what he once wanted is not what he wants anymore made me fall in love with him. I also couldn't help falling in love with Faith and all her friends, it almost made me want to move to a small town lol . Read this book you won't be disappointed! It's a great celebrity romance and overall a really sweet romance.
Sam was so sexy and his relationship with the people of Dale, Georgia was fun and down right supportive. Him and Faith though, combustible sexual fit. They were like steak and potatoes. Who would have thought the owner of a small town bed and breakfast could have made all his needs come true; quiet, muse, escape, and life. She was his means that would not end (If he had anything to say about it) and he was the strength and support she needed when her world came crashing down. Don't forget Piper, she was a worldwind of adolescent energy that made all things fun and her way.
I loved the small town close knit feel and the girls and guys that made up friendship and support regardless of the situation.
Sam Castleton is a rock star with a drinking problem. He's looking for an off the grid location to dry out & write his next album.
Faith Adams is a widowed mother who owns a bed & breakfast in the middle of nowhere, small town, Dale, Georgia. She's just trying to support her daughter & run her B & B when an unbeknownst to her famous man asks to be her only guests for a few months. Can she help him get sober? Can he show her how to trust again?
I really enjoyed this book. I picked it up hoping to get a sweet, small town romance with a likable cast of characters. That's exactly what this story gave me.
I'll admit the first chapter had me thinking twice about continuing. Sam seemed like a big headed jerk & I can stand those heroes. However once he arrives in Dale his true self is shown & much more likable.
I appreciated the way the author betrayed Faith as a strong, independent, single mother. A lot of times I read romances with children in them that are conveniently absent through most of the story making it completely unbelievable.
This book is perfect for a light hearted, sweet, quick read.
I've heard that Arianna Hart has other books set in Dale, GA with characters we from Storming the Castle. I'll definitely be checking them out soon.
a potientially good book if you can get past the foul language.
A nice romance with a side dash of sweet. This book took me a couple of hours. It was a smooth read. At times I might not have liked how something was written or implied but it turned out to work for the characters.
i couldn't finish this book i stopped at about 44%
i just could'n't finish this book, Faith's inner thoughts where just plain annoying and i just couldn't seem to connect with the Faith or Sam
Sam Castleton is one of America's greatest rock musicians, and he's completely lost himself in the rockstar lifestyle. Terrified that he's well on his way to alcoholism, and in an attempt to get his muse back, he checks himself into an out of the way hunting lodge/bed and breakfast for some peace and quiet.
The bed and breakfast is run by Faith Adams, a young single mother doing the best she can. Her husband died before she even knew that she was pregnant, so she's used to doing things on her own. She's lonely, but her daughter is her priority and no sexy rock star is going to change that.
Can Sam and Faith put their fears and misgivings aside to give into their mutual attraction?
This book left me feeling very... indifferent. It's not that it's a bad book, it just wasn't amazing. It follows the standard contemporary romance plotline and pacing, although there are a couple of twists thrown in to keep us on our toes. None of this is necessarily bad, but it didn't make for the most exciting book.
There were some things that threw me off, like the former in-laws suing for custody. What was the point of it? They'd never wanted anything to do with Piper before, and even during the custody battle, they didn't seem to care about much aside from just winning. I had hoped that their motivations might be made clear at the end, but the brief answer we got seemed half-hearted and underdeveloped. The whole plot line just seemed to be there to prove that Faith was A Good Person™ despite everything that had happened to her.
And, brief spoiler ahead...
Can we talk about her dead husband for a second? Like, yes, it was awful that he cheated on her and I myself could never set that aside and carry on with a relationship. But, #1, he's dead, and #2, of all the ways to be cheated on, I feel like the reveal here was kind of weird. Matthew was quite literally coerced into sleeping with his boss to further his career. I suppose he consented, but is it really consent if your job is on the line? It doesn't matter that he's male and his boss was female, it's still disgusting and wrong. Whatever his boss said about "In my circles, that's vanilla" doesn't make it right. I don't care what kind of circles you run in. I don't care if sexual assault is the most common, most normal thing where you come from. It is absolutely 100% wrong for someone in a position of power to use that power to garner sexual favors from someone who reports to them. Even after finding out that Matthew literally wanted no part in these sexual encounters, he's still vilified. I feel like I came away from that revelation with a different impression than I was supposed to because honestly, I just felt bad for the guy.
Anyway. I also thought it was kind of weird that Faith was so adamantly against casual sex and then she was just flinging herself at Sam. I mean, good for you, Faith, I'm glad that you're finally getting back out there after five years or whatever of celibacy. Clearly, I have no problem with reading about sex (I mean, look at my recent reviews), but there was no transition. It's just like one minute she's super anti-sex, and the next she's like, "Wait, how many condoms do we have left?"
I also thought that the ending wrapped up a little too neatly and quickly for my liking, but overall, I did like the characters (particularly Sam) and I appreciated the strong female friendships that constantly figured into the plot. This book was, more than anything else, very readable and I really did fly through it. Piper was the cutest and I loved how much she loved Sam. He was adorable with her as well, and much like in real life, I like the guys in my books to be good with kids.
If you're into books about rock stars looking to settle down, you're sure to enjoy this one.
Final rating: somewhere between 2.5 and 3 stars
STORMING THE CASTLE is a perfect addition to your summer beach reading list! Arianna Hart gives us a wonderful tale filled with romance, fun, intrigue, and redefining yourself when your life is at a crossroads. Bad boy rocker, Sam Castleton, has it all: money, fame, and hot women throwing themselves at him. Despite all of his success, he feels lost and at sea. He doesn't like the direction that his life is going and he makes the decision to step away from everything and really evaluate what he wants out of life. It was a bold choice to make and took a lot of courage and strength. Running away to Dale, Georgia to a small cabin in the woods, he begins to divest himself of the trappings of fame and rediscover what he loved about music to begin with. While he is working on getting his life back on track, he meets and starts to fall for his neighbor, Faith Adams, who owns the cabin and property. Faith has her own baggage and battles but she is powerless to resist the charms of Sam. Readers will enjoy watching them navigate their way throughout the story. Definitely recommend.
This is my first time reading this author. I grabbed it based on the synopsis. I enjoyed the twist on the typical rock star trope. Oh, that's not to say Sam Castleton didn't behave like the typical rock star. He just decided to have his come to Jesus moment in small town Dale, Georgia. He needed to change his path and despite wanting solitude, he found himself drawn to widow Faith and her young daughter. I always like when the big, bad, gets stung by the love bug. The mighty fall pretty quick sometimes.
Enjoyed the small town quirkiness and the tight group of women supporting each other. Overall, a nice, light read. It is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone.
Wow! This was a great story, I hope to keep my eye for more by this author. Loved the bun pun at the end.
This is a voluntary review, I do not get paid for this review. My thoughts are my own.
Aaawwwww. I really liked this. Still swooning.
A hot Rock Star hero, a bunch of amazing supportive characters, adorable dogs, funny kids and a low-angst romance make for a beautiful feel-good read full of heart and Southern charm.
This is the perfect novel to read on a beach and get yourself out of a lazy summer book slump.
This book contains both on-screen sex and cursing including f-bombs. It is not technically part of a series, but contains characters that are from other books by the same author. You do not have to read those ones to enjoy this one and it comes to a satisfying ending and *does not* end on a cliffhanger.
Despite my hesitation about reading another rock star romance story, I really liked this book. I enjoyed watching Sam grow and change as a person, and watching Faith figure out how to allow herself to love and trust again. They were both extremely interesting and likable characters, so I never once wanted them to not work out. The story line with her in-laws and her late husband was really interesting, and I loved how Faith dealt with all of that in the end, despite how difficult it must have been for her. I also thought Piper was adorable and very accurately written which is something that isn't common in romance novels.
This was an fun and entertaining read that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys a story about two characters that are just really good people finding their happily ever after despite a bunch of road blocks and challenges being thrown in their way.
I was generously granted an ARC of this book via NetGalley and was under absolutely no obligation to write this review.
