I really liked this story a lot. A story of a girl who was kidnapped when she was 15 years old. It is now 10 years later and Claire Fletcher shows up in a bar, having drinks with a detective and proceeding to follow him home for the night. She leaves him early the next morning with only a note with her address and a second dirty wine glass as proof that she was there.

This begins Connor Parks journey on a decades old cold case. Because, when he goes to the address listed on the note, he discovers that the woman he is looking for disappeared 10 years ago.

The story is filled with Lynn (Claire) reliving her decade with her abductor. The horrors, the loathing and the detestation of the monstrosity that was her abductor. It's also filled with suspense, action and a jaw dropping reality of the monster.

I loved that this book was written differently than most abduction books I have read. With the historical aspect of the story, your not really seeing it happen, but just hearing about it.

An excellent read that I sped through, especially towards the end, and could not put down.

Huge thanks to Thomas & Mercer and Net Galley for providing me with a free e-galley in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

Looking for a terrifying, well-paced psychological thriller? Then this is the book for you.

"Finding Claire Fletcher" is about a woman, abducted when she was a teenager, separated from her family for ten years. She has an encounter with a man at a bar who turns out to be a police detective, and leaves her name and family's address behind. Connor is captivated by her, and then even more so when he realizes who she is.

The chapters alternate between Claire's story (including the grim, scary first years of her imprisonment), and Connor's quest to find out where Claire went and who abducted her. Claire's reaction to what has happened to her is completely realistic - there's a mix of grief, disbelief, shame. Yet when she realizes that the cycle of abuse/abductions will not stop, Claire rises from her physical and psychological injuries to put a stop to her tormentor.

There's a lot of novels about abducted teenage girls, but you don't often get to see the victim becoming a heroine. I loved that about this book! Claire has had so much ripped away from her, but she will do anything to stop her kidnapper from taking another young girl. Yes!!!!

I really liked a lot of the supporting characters too - Connor, of course, but also Jen, Claire's mother, who never gives up hope that her daughter's alive, and the colorful detectives who work alongside Connor.

This was my first introduction to Lisa Regan's writing, but I will be on the look out for more of her novels!

*Much thanks to Netgalley and Thomas & Mercer for a copy of this wonderful book in exchange for a honest review*

This was a very difficult book to read as it has some scenes that are pretty graphic and intense. The plot seemed a bit slow going and I took MANY breaks while reading it. There was a weird romance in there and it seemed more forced and rushed, not an actual attraction. I see what the author was trying to do with this story but it just didn't live up to the hype.

Finding CLaire Fletcher was published back in 2012 and had some changes done to it, and the copy that I read is the updated version. With that being said, I am a big fan of psychological thrillers/suspense as many of you have probably guessed. So, it was pretty much a no brainer that I would pick this one up. This is my first book from Lisa Regan and it most certainly will not be the last. I’m not going to restate the plot of the book, because the blurb tells you pretty much everything, and anything else I tel you will just give away too much of the rest of the story itself and I don’t want to ruin anything for you. But I will warn you that this is a raw and roller coaster ride of emotions.

With the alternating Pov’s, it give us the reader this perfect view of all that has happened and is currently taking place. Claire’s point of view is heart wrenching and the abuse she endures both physical and mental is horrific. Yet, somehow she has this strong will power to her, a strength that I don’t think I would have after everything she went through. But she did. There were times that my heart hurt to following her story. Connor, the Detective is broken, from things that has happened in his personal life and is just trying to pick up the pieces. And something about “Lynn” has drawn him to her. His determination to find CLaire was amazing and just adored him for it. Now as for Claire’s abductor, well, her abductor is epitome of pure evil.

Regan kept the pace steady, and had me turning the pages as fast as I could. Now, I had to stop every once in a while because there are some fairly graphic scenes, that tore me up and brought tears to my eyes. God, they were just terrible. In the end, I was happy with the way this finished out and the second book in the series, Losing Leah Holloway is set to be released October 17th 2017 and I am pretty excited for it.

Finding Claire Fletcher is one of those thought provoking and gut wrenching reads. But also a story of survival and healing and it was beautifully written. I believe that fans of dark and gritty suspense will like this one.

I liked this enough to finish it. Which is the only reason this gets two stars instead of one. The writing was very fluid and the characters and story were interesting enough. I actually really liked Clare and Connor. However: I didn't believe for one second a LOT of what happened in this book. Clare's reasons for the things she did just did not convince me that she would have acted in the ways she did, she was written as much too strong a character. I also felt the ending was severely drawn out. I thought I was at the end at a certain point (sorry for all of the vague-ness but I don't want to give anything away), but then I looked at the percentage completed and it was at less than 75%. In the end I just didn't appreciate this one as much as I would have liked.

While walking to school one day, teenage Claire Fletcher is kidnapped and held captive for more than ten years. Physically and mentally abused by her captor, she lives her life with him as “Lynn,” earning so-called freedoms for her compliance. She has tried to get away, but each attempt resulted in violent and deadly consequences for others, leaving Claire with feelings of guilt. Psychologically manipulated, Claire is desperate to get away, but terrified to leave. One night, Claire takes a risk and goes to a nearby bar where she meets Connor Parks, a detective with the Sacramento Police Department.

Mourning the loss of his marriage and facing a review board for the shooting of a suspected rapist during an arrest, Connor is eager for the distraction of the beautiful, but haunted, woman he meets at the bar. They end up back at his place where they surprisingly spend an innocent night talking. When Connor wakes the next morning, the woman is gone, only leaving behind a scrap of paper with the name “Claire Fletcher” written on it and an address. When Connor visits the address and asks for Claire, he is surprised to find that Claire isn’t there and that she’s actually been missing for ten years. He enlists the help of the Fletcher family and their private investigator to reopen the case and finally bring Claire home.

Alternating between the past and present, and Claire’s point of view and Connor’s, Finding Claire Fletcher provides an interesting look at the relationship between a violent pedophile and his victim and the mental torture that is inflicted. I think at first it might be easy to get annoyed with Claire because it seems like she has the opportunity so many times to leave, but she doesn’t; she always returns. If you look past that though, and consider that she was a child when she was kidnapped and has been in his clutches for nearly half of her life, you realize she really thought she didn’t have a choice – that it was her fault and she couldn’t leave.

I really appreciate that this book wasn’t detailed in its violence. You understand that Claire endured horrific things without actually having to read a description of what happens to her. I’ve read some reviews that commented on the violent language, but I didn’t get that.

I think my only complaint (hence the four stars, not five) is in the last third of the story after Claire escapes. Weeks and months go by in a single page and it feels like a “hurry up and finish” kind of ending. The actual ending is great and, I think, the best way it could have concluded, but getting there felt like it needed to be developed a little more.

I had not read any of Ms. Regan’s books previously, but after reading this, she’s definitely an author whose other books I’ll be checking out. Her writing reminds me a little of Lisa Jackson’s works. She has a great flair for the mystery and suspense without being unrealistic or unnecessarily graphic. Kudos.

Connor Parks is having a rough time, divorced and struggling in his work as a detective he heads to a bar. During the evening he meets a woman and is immediately taken with her. The following morning he wakes and finds she has left a name, Claire Fletcher, and an address. When he goes to the address he is shocked to find Claire Fletcher was abducted many years ago, as a teenager. He is determined to see her again.
Claire Fletcher was abducted and held for many years by a deviant paedophile. We see her abduction and corresponding years through flashbacks. She wants her family to know she is still alive but struggles with escaping and returning home.
This is a thrilling story, where I hoped that Connor and Claire would eventually meet again. Her abductor is a violent vicious and twisted individual but the "relationship" between himself and Claire is intriguing but very scary at the same time. I would recommend it to anyone to read.
Thank you so much to NetGalley, Thomas & Mercer and Lisa Regan for the opportunity to read a copy of this book for a fair and honest review.

-- SPOILER ALERT!!! --

This is definitely not your typical suspense/mystery novel. It's quite different to be exact. It's a gut-wrenching story that is beautifully written which includes amazing characters that truly takes this novel to a whole different level. It felt so real I honestly thought I was reading a personal memoir. You’ll definitely fall in love with both Claire and Connor, rooting for them all the way to the end. It’s a story that will elicit various emotions that will stay with you well after you’ve finished the novel.

The shocking and horrific issue of child abduction is at the heart of this story; a subject matter with which the author has written with such care and maturity that it’s hard to believe that this is the author’s debut novel. The one scene that pulled on my heart the most was when the mother came running in with tears to find her eleven-year-old daughter alive, while the father so overwrought with such emotion, unable to express his words of gratitude, hugs Claire tightly in an embrace of thanks.

So yes, I loved this novel and I highly recommend it.

Frightening, disturbing, and crazy intense. You know that urban legend where a man goes to return a sweater belonging to the hitchhiker he picked up the night before? He shows up to her door and is informed that the girl who had been in his car last night has been dead for years. Cue the creepy music. This book reminded me of that urban legend in a way, but took it to a whole different level and made it more sick and scary. We get chapters from both Claire's perspective and Connor's. The ones from Claire detail her current life and the last ten years, and are quite disturbing.

Detective Connor Parks has had a very bad day. His career is in danger, and his divorce is made final. He heads to the bar for a drink, and immediately a beautiful woman shows an interest in him. They go back to his home, where he learns very little about her other than her full name: Claire Fletcher. Despite that, they both feel a real connection. In the morning, she has vanished. She's left behind a note with only her name and address. Connor definitely wants to see her again, but doesn't want to look too desperate. He waits a few days before stopping by her house. That's when things get crazy: Claire Fletcher has been missing for ten years.

Shown photos of teenage Claire, he is confident she's the woman he spent the night with. Turns out he isn't the only one... other men have claimed the same thing over the years, but she's never been found. Why would she leave behind identifying information if she wanted to stay hidden? If she is being forced to stay, why has she left her family heartbroken all these years if she's clearly able to do things on her own?

Claire's last ten years have been filled with torment. She was taken when she was only 15 by a very sick man. Though she's allowed some time of "freedom", she hasn't contacted the police or her family. Why?

Unknowingly, Connor has put himself in danger by starting to investigate her appearance. The ten year old trail is ice cold, but he's determined to find out who took Claire and where she is. The problem is finding him before he finds Connor.

I was given an ARC of this book from Net Galley and Thomas & Mercer, thank you! My opinion is honest and unbiased.

loved this book. It was a dark emotional read. The author did a very good job of the emotions of the characters. She did this so well that I even got a little emotional. I felt every emotion while reading this book. It was a heart breaking roller coaster ride.

The characters are very real. Claire was so strong and fought for her life. I also loved Connor, he just never gave up. I loved the romance between him and
Claire. The author's psychological insight into her characters make the story as intriguing as it is real as today's headlines. This is a well written and thought provoking novel that will keep you turning the pages until the end of the novel.
The crimes in this book are dark, ugly and disturbing, with some very graphic scenes, but they happen in real life, we can’t just pretend that they don’t exist.

Claire Fletcher is a 15 year old girl who was abducted on her way to school one morning, and then subjected to years of torment and abuse by a truly evil man. Claire’s story will break your heart, but her perseverance and determination to maintain her own sense of right and her own sense of self will gain your respect even when she’s giving in to the darkness of her abductor’s threats. Connor spends a lot of his time looking for her and just never gives up.

I recommend this book to those that like a dark gritty thriller. It is not for the faint of heart.

Lisa Regan's new novel, Finding Clair Fletcher will evoke all combinations of shock and horror. I am still reeling from this book.

A one-night stand opens up old wounds for Detective Conner Parks. When the mysterious woman discretely leaves in the morning, she leaves behind a clue about her life. An address. This simple piece of paper will lead Conner down a gruesome path towards a pedophile and abductor who is holding Clair hostage.

Finding Clair Fletcher is a story told from Claire's, and Detective Conner's alternate points of view. As Detective Conner is navigating his way through this cold case, Claire depicts the horrors and depravity she faced as being a captor both the past and present day. As Claire is revealing her story, the reader is taken captive into the mind of a sadistic pedophile who tortures, rapes, and deprives his young victims of any sense of themselves. Even when there is a chance to escape.

Finding Claire Fletcher is a compelling, well-written psychological novel that both transfixed and terrified me. Lisa Regan has an eye for detail in both scene and character development. As Regan's words unfold, you are placed on center-stage along side the characters experiencing their world. The opening chapter was intense, as Clair's haunting voice takes you through her brutal beginning. The alternating views of Claire and Conner are seamless; as when he ends the phone call at the end of one chapter, she hangs up the phone at the beginning of the next. Claire's abductor is a very disturbing portrayal of evil. The penetration into the captor's eyes gives us a look into the dark realms of inhumanity. A beast who manipulates the victim in such a slow and devious way that they grow to enjoy any comfort he may bring. Detective Conner's gritty vulnerability is palpable, as a man on the brink and desperate to find Claire. And, the astonishing torture scenes are squalls of horror which stay with you after the book closed. "The strange wastelands of Lynn Wood's life."

Although the plot was well played out in the narrative, there were a few implausibilities of character's actions that left you wondering. But after all, this is Claire's journey. And I would not let this deter you from reading this outstanding novel.

The title is more about Clair finding her way into that locked door ten years ago, to discover the child on the street corner before she crossed it. "That when she smiles, it's beautiful and not broken."

As the first book in a series, Regan has created a great hook. I am probably not the only person ready for the second novel in the series due out in October, 2017-Losing Leah Holloway.

Thank you, NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This was a fantastic book! Was instantly pulled in and lost many hours of sleep just to finish. The ending was great too. I got a little scared I'd be mad at the author, but nope, great!

Solid, fast-paced thriller. LOTS of triggers for sexual assault. This is supposedly a first of a new series with Connor Parks and Claire Fletcher as the principles. This first book is the set up and both of the running characters are solid leads, but their being together is a bit bothersome to me given the set-up situation. Overall, a good summer read.

Wow, what a book! I loved the alternating POV, something I wasn't expecting, and I love the way the story unfolded, as well as the way the back story was told, as well. This isn't quite a "whodunit" as much as a "how will she escape?!" which was refreshing for me! The main characters were likable (other than the kidnapper, of course!) and I found myself rooting for them the whole time. I would have given it 5 stars if not for the fact that for a few chapters right around 3/4 of the way through the story seemed to stall to me, as I was waiting for something specific to happen. It didn't (which is fine, means I was wrong about the way the story was going!) and then a few chapters later the last main climax of the story happened, which I enjoyed, I just didn't think the last fourth of the book quite measured up to the rest of it. Still, it was a great read, and I'd recommend it for those who love thrillers/mysteries and who enjoy watching crime shows like Criminal Minds :)

This is an impressive debut novel and my first read by this author.

It starts off with a scene at a bar with a police detective who had a really bad day. Enter Claire Fletcher. They hit it off instantly and spend the night together. She disappears the next morning before he wakes only to leave a note with her name and address. He goes to the address she left him only to find out that Claire Fletcher was abducted ten years before and her family who still live there are distraught that he claims he spent the night with her. So begins this detective's motivation and determination to finding Claire Fletcher.

This book pulled me in and although a dark subject matter was an enjoyable read. I however found too many things implausible to give it 5 stars, too many things were a bit too far fetched for me. I am interested in reading the second to this series though.

An amazing book! The story seems so real because the characters and situations are believable. Lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing. I could not put it down but the content is disturbing- lot of sick people in this world.

4.5 stars!

Excellent story. Well written and so sad and devastating.

A police detective meets a young woman he instantaneously likes in a bar one evening. They only exchange first names. He takes her home and they just talk and sleep in each other's arms all night. When he wakes up she's gone but has left an address scribbled on a piece of paper. As he begins to investigate he finds out the lady from that address has been missing for 10 years. What has happened to her? What is her story?

The story is told through Claire's eyes from the past and the present as well as in the present through the detective's eyes.

Lisa Regan is a talented and captivating writer. It is my understanding that there is a second book about this character coming out soon called, "Losing Leah Holloway." I will definitely read it. I highly recommend this book. Although the content and situation are sometimes disturbing and emotional it is a very good book!

Amazing read!! It is heartbreaking and sorrowful, joyful and everything in between. The characters are people you want to reach into the book and save yourself! I will recommend to all I know! I loved it, I will be reading more from Lisa Regan for sure!
