Quick, hot, and dirty in a really fun way. ;)
I really wanted to like this book when i read the blurb, i was excited to sink my teeth into the book. UNFORTUNATELY i didnt get past the fourth chapter.
Amy's boss Thomas Hartford is as uptight as they come, he's a stickler for rules and runs his company with an iron fist. When he brings in his best friend Abel as the new CEO Amy's shocked by how different the two men are, where Thomas is stuffy and abhors anything personal getting in the way of business Abel is down to earth, fun and makes his attraction for Amy very clear from the beginning. It's not long before Abel and Amy are a couple but what shocks Amy is that Thomas seems jealous of their relationship and when Abel starts putting ideas in her head about the three of them together she finds it impossible to resist acting out her wildest fantasies.
This is the first longer story I've read by Charlotte Stein and there's no denying she can write incredibly hot books, the chemistry between Abel and Amy was fantastic and the spark was there between them from the moment Abel walked into the office. I enjoyed their relationship and the fantasies they shared with each other but I have to admit I struggled a bit when Thomas joined in. I found him a really hard character to connect with because he came across as so cold and because this is a novella there didn't seem to be much of a build up to let me believe he was really attracted to either of them. With Abel and Amy you could feel the passion they felt for each other and for Thomas but with Thomas it was more like he was scratching a biological itch. That would have been fine if the story hadn't been trying to convince me that they were going to end up in a permanent three way relationship. It would have been easier to have accepted Abel and Amy as a couple who just liked to add an extra partner for the occasional bit of fun.
As far as short and spicy stories go I did enjoy this, the heat levels were certainly there, but I did end up more than a little disappointed with the romance side. I think if it had been just a few pages longer with a little more time spent getting to know Thomas it could have been so much better.
Eh. It was a steamy story but the characters didn't mesh well for me.
The character 's were definitely not what I expected. Totally opposite. But attraction was there, heck it was burn the pages and leave you wanting more. This was a short story. I expected full on Novella. I think it could have portrayed the characters more with it.
This is definitely an erotic menage. Who doesn't like hot alpha billionaires? I like the premise of the story with the fact that Abel is sort of laid back and easy going. His opposite is Thomas. He likes to control the situation and does not let himself be anything other than professional at work. The sex is definitely off the charts hot and you may find yourself rereading those scenes. It is MMF.
I had a hard time getting into the book. I think the dialogue did not flow as smoothly as I would have expected. The premise is good, the characters make sense, it's explicit...but maybe it was too short? I realize it is a novella, but it was a little abrupt and the dialogue could have flowed a bit better.
The cover is definitely smoking hot and would be something I stop to read the description. But I think the story itself was just ok.
This was yet another hot and incredibly well written one from Charlotte Stein. Everything I've read from her has been very steamy but not over the top. Or actually, over the top in exactly the correct way. If you're looking for erotica Charlotte Stein is an excellent place to start and end with!
Due to certain circumstances I wasn't able to finish the book. However, I read about 40% of it and quickly came to the conclusion that it wasn't really my thing. I couldn't get into the story and didn't particularly like the writing style.
If I had to give this book a rating based on what I read, I'd give it 2 stars. However, seeing as I didn't actually finish the book, I'd rather not rate it at all.
I voluntarily read an advanced reviewers copy of this book
This book can definitely be characterized as hawt and quick. I can honestly say that I did not expect this book to end the way that it did but boy was I hooked. Overall a pretty good book with lots of heat for a great price!
HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT
My only complaint was that the book felt unfinished. I wanted to read more about how they made it work especially with all three working together. Did they keep their relationship a secret or did they let it out in the open (in which case how did others react)? How did things work long term?
This short, intense novella surpasses similar erotica because its heroine is intelligent in both the usual sense of the word and emotionally. Her exploration of the psychological aspect of the liaison benefits everyone involved. The author’s intriguing use of metaphor (“It felt like being on top of an insane rollercoaster that ran in almost complete darkness”) and description engages the reader, even if the sexual situations and dirty talk aren’t one’s usual cup of tea. As a result, this book involves the mind as well as other things. But this is the talented writer Charlotte Stein, so of course it’s good. A recommended read for genre fiction readers seeking quality spice.
It was super hot, but I just couldn't connect with all the characters. Something about Hartford just turned me off totally. Amy and Abel were amazing though. For a fast, smoking read - give it a try.
When three coworkers with a passion for each other get together, you get the circumstances that happened in this novel. While the passion was there, I felt as though it was forced and fell a little flat for me. Yes, Hartford and Abel were friends before Abel joined the company and seduced Hartford’s assistant, Amy. And, yes, Amy was a lot more open minded and kinky than her uptight demeanor let on, but adding Hartford into the mix did not comprehend to me. I wasn’t wowed by the dynamic or excited about the possibility of the ménage.
So, what was good about this book? The writing was well done and the characters were very well developed. Hartford and Abel had a strong connection as well as Hartford and Amy. It was the connection of the three I had a problem with, but that did not make it a bad book at all. I think any fan of a short ménage would enjoy this story. Unfortunately, I didn’t.
HOT! This book was super steamy! Short and steamy, this is the perfect book if you're looking for a quick, sexy book!
I don't read erotica for the story. This novella moves into steamy territory FAST. Like...within thee pages. Amy, Abel and Tommy have a VERY sexual, very even sided relationship. Tommy was Amy's boss, Abel is his best friend.
HOW DO I EVEN REVIEW THIS? IT WAS HOTT.
Thanks NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book.
A corporate woman shows her new boss around the office on a weekend, and they end up having sex there. Turns out big boss, the cold humorless type, has cameras installed and saw the whole thing, firing her. . . but not him. Hmmm. Turns out there was an ulterior motive, but in which direction is he jealous?
This is a novella, short enough that I didn’t have time to make notes, write down impressions as I went along. On the other hand, it was short enough to remember. The one thing that really annoyed me was that she hated the big boss for firing her, yet oh so willingly let him have her, even if her lover was part of it. By the end she was claiming to love him. That didn’t strike me as anywhere near true; this would have been simpler if she’d done it just for the sex, or even to please her boyfriend. This three-way relationship was just too dysfunctional to bear.
Plenty of erotic sex, but the actual story line was lacking.
Good story but too short. The story have well narrative but is rushed to the end. The sex scenes are hot.
Amy has been a personal assistant to CEO, Thomas, for quite awhile. He has rules and he is unbending- a real stick in the mud type. He hires a friend of his, Abel, as his new CFO. Amy has been tasked with getting Abel up to speed and settled in at the company.
Abel is opposite of Tom in every way- fun loving, care free, and a lusty, hot blooded male. The chemistry is off the charts between he and Amy. They try to fight it, but after a couple of days they give in to their passion.
Tom finds out about the tryst after watching surveillance video he has from cameras all over the office. He is devastated as he's always lusted after Amy himself and has always had feelings towards Abel. Abel makes Tom confront his feelings and after a meeting with all three of them, they dive into what they were craving.
This is a very short novella. There is not much character building or plot-it's just intended to be a quickie as they say! And boy oh boy! The sizzling meter was off the charts throughout this one! Definitely a well written book when it came to the sexy scenes! I loved how Abel was the catalyst for both Amy and Tom to realize they had something neither realized was there. Abel brought that out and it worked.
The only caveat was the ending. It was rather abrupt and left you wanting to know how it came about. I think it needed to have been expanded just a smidge and I would've been a happy camper! I did love the story, however, and it's a great choice when you want something quick and spicy!
