As a first time reader of Robin Bielman's books, I didnt know what to expect. I am so happy to say that I absolutely fell in love with Talk British to Me!
Mateo Gallagher happens to be the host of one of the most popular radio shows in LA. The problem is no one knows that. He is required to keep his job a secret so that way he can find out and report back on the single dating scene in LA. The other thing that helps to keep his identity a secret is by speaking in a British accent. Up until he meets Teague he was good with the single life, but she changes everything and now he is not sure if this is still the job for him.
Teague is trying to find her way after only been in LA for a few months she has her job at a coffee house and her best friend Harper. Then she meets Mateo she does all she can to resist his charm and sexiness. Then when she starts to work for his mom - a wedding planner she knows she needs to stay away. Though the more time they spend together as friends the more her feelings deepen even though she knows nothing will come from it until everything changes and you cant change things back.
I really fell in love with Mateo and Teague; they compliment each other so well that you can see the sparks fly off the page. I appreciate how Ms Bielman doesnt rush their romance, she allows her characters to become friends first while the chemistry between the two stays fresh with each new situation they find themselves in. The story is told in dual POV's which I happen to love since that allows us to get to know each character. The dialog is crisp and witty not only between the two main characters but also with the secondary characters we meet throughout the book. There is some great mystery and chemistry between the secondary characters so I am hoping Ms Bielman is gearing up for another story with these characters (Harper and Levi); if she is I cant wait to find out what happens next.
All in all this is a great summer read!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The slow build-up from friendship to something more was sweet and endearing. But, unfortunately, all good things come to an end and maybe his secret is the one thing they won't be able to get through.
Mateo has a secret, one that even his family doesn't know. He is the Dating Guy- he likes going out with whomever he wants, whenever he wants. And he gives a report on his date on his morning radio show. How does no one know who he is, he speaks with a British accent. When he meets Teague, he is drawn to her and he fights his feelings harder than he thought possible. Even though he tells himself to stay away, he can't. She is his magnet.
Teague is happy and is annoyed with he preconceived notion of who and what Mateo is. She friend zones him, but ends up falling for him. As they grow closer and closer she falls harder and harder. When he pushes her away, she is heartbroken but comes to move on with her life.
Will Mateo confess why he pushes her away? Will they admit how they feel about one another? Will he continue with his job and walk away from love? Pick up Talk British to Me and fall in love with Mateo and Teague. ARC received via NetGalley in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.
I've enjoyed reading Robin Bielman and couldn't wait for Talk British to Me. A great cover with a blurb that had me wanting to crack the book open and ignore all else.
I loved everything. Matteo and Teague are hard to resist. The dialogue had me laughing out loud. As much as Ms Bielman had me turning the pages, I didn't want to get to the last page. I can't wait to see what happens next in the Wherever You Go series.
I LOVED the Secret Wishes series and the Watters crew so I was beyond excited to read Teague's story!
Mateo is very popular with the ladies, both as himself and his alter-ego Bennett- The Dating Guy. Mateo is loving his job but while out one night, he runs into a woman, literally, and can't take his eyes off of her. Except Teague wants nothing to do with him. It seems like fate is working its magic with these two when Teague starts working for his mother. There's amazing chemistry between Mateo and Teague but she doesn't want to risk her job and he's contractually obligated to be single.
I loved the interactions between Mateo and Teague. The friendship that they built was an amazing foundation for what they developed. This book was a fantastic check in with the Watters family and introduction to a whole new group of characters. I can't wait to get to know this group of friends!

This book surprised me a lot and I had a great time reading it. With a first person narration, the author introduces us to Teague and Mateo, the lead characters, and let us know their dreams and fears. Teague works in a coffee shop and she’s follower of a radio show called The Dating Guy. In this show the guy, Bennet, advices about dating and relationships. His British accent is a magnet and every girl in the copy shop just stop wherever she’s doing to listen to him. Mateo was a soccer star in college, but after a lesion he had to change of profession. He helps with some charity causes but, to his parents he hasn’t a steady job. The truth is Mateo has a job, but it’s a secret. Mateo is the man behind the mysterious Bennet, the sexy voice with British accent.
When Mateo first met Teague, he was intrigued. But that intrigue quickly turned in something more. He was in love with this girl, but he had a contract with the radio station and… he have to stay single for as long as the contract lasts. After meeting Mateo, Teague started to work as assistant for a wedding planner, what she doesn’t know is that bossy woman was Mateo’s mom.
Funny moments, lots of sexual tension and humor filled the pages of this book. The characters were adorable. I enjoyed their inner dialogues and their particular brand of humor. I loved Mateo’s friends and Harper (and I hope the author would write about them in the future), their friendship and how easy to like they are. The plot wasn’t complicated and, in some points, seemed to be predictable but the author has a way to surprise you. Then, after all the problems, misunderstandings and self-sabotage, Teague and Mateo found a way to make their relationship work while they’re traveling around the world.
This is a fresh, sweet and romantic story, recommended for fans of British accent, romantic comedies and, of course, HEA.
Thank you to Entangled and Netgalley for a copy of the eARC in exchange for a fair review.
Teague is working in a coffee shop a little worried about money when she stumbles into a job as assistant. She meets Mateo by accident when she literally drops hot wings on him. Mateo has a bit of a secret, he is Bennett, The Dating Guy, and he has a contract with the radio station that says no relationships.
He has never had a problem with that until he meets Teague. He does stay upfront with her and say that he doesn't want a relationship with her, but he can't stop thinking about her. Teague can't stop thinking about him, but when she finds out he is the son of her boss, the reasons they can't do anything keep stacking up.
They spend more and more time together trying to maintain that they are just friends, but things are spiraling out of control. Mateo has to figure out if he loves his job more or if Teague is the one for him.
This was a super cute and fun read! I literally couldn't stop reading it, and I loved that they didn't hop in bed and fall in love and then struggle. Like they didn't hop in bed, struggled not to have a relationship, then sort of had one and then he messed it up. It worked though, I really like them as a couple and as characters in general.
Since this is the beginning of the series I hope to see them again!
Talk British to Me by Robin Bielman has been my first book by this author. I found it to be fun and entertaining, a romance that really thrives on the characters and their connection over lust.
The characters, Teague and Mateo, are what really drive this novel. These two are incredibly likable. Mateo has that easy and lovable charm. Readers, just like Teague, sense that he is a player, a limitless flirt, and yet he still retains that factor that draws women to him. He is open and honest, as much as he can be with his job, which only serves to heighten his attractiveness. Underneath this flirtatious nature hides a man with a heart of gentleman. As the readers get to know him, it is clear that he is raised right, and it is this personal side of him that makes readers swoon for him. Teague is a fantastic heroine. Being the youngest in her family, she has left a life of protection to make her own way in a new place. She is confident yet sweet, and she has a determination to be successful on her own. While she has the attributes needed to succeed in a big city, she still maintains that small town charm that makes her appealing to the reader as well as Mateo.
The plot of Talk British to Me is a very slow burn. There are dalliances between the two, but it takes a good portion of the novel to get to the fruition of their attraction. There is tons of tension between the two as they navigate trying to fight their attraction to each other while maintaining their friendship, but their relationship feels authentic and real. Robin Bielman also introduces readers to a host of secondary characters that are just as wonderful, and she leaves us with just enough between two of them to interest readers for the next book (I'm assuming).
Talk British to Me is another romance filled with a cast of lovable characters and authentic romance. Readers will really enjoy the friends to lovers romance, and they will certainly be intrigued with the the possibility of more to come.
I have never read anything by Robin Bielman but this book sounded interesting so I just had to read it.
I read this pretty quickly because I was just so hooked into this story. I loved Mateo and Teague together because were likeable and very relatable. I loved the chemistry too.
If you are looking for a good , laugh out loud and cute book I do recommend Talk British To Me by Robin Bielman.
I give this 5 out of 5.
Alright, ya wankers! (I've been dying to say that.) Talk British to Me had me from the title. That was before I saw the cover... I am proud to say that I am the equivalent of an accent ho. Meaning your accent turns me on, I could listen to you spout utter bull at me for hours if you have an accent. So a book where the guys speaks with a British accent- yeah, I had to!
What a fun book it was! It's definitely more on the sweet side than steamy. But most of the book is built on chemistry and tension. Plus everyone knows the more powerful the build up the better the explosion!
What you don't know is that book is actually a lot of fun. It's an easy read with no gut shredding, and of the world experiences. It has some feels but nothing that will make you need to do a makeup check because you were hiding in the bathroom at work to finish it. Just don't drop it (lame toilet joke).
So that was a:
yes- read it
no- dropping your copy in the toilet
yes- it's fun
no- if you work for BBG, you cannot show her this
yes- I hope to find out the interesting little relationship drama we got a glimpse of before it ended!

“He’s a major heartbreak waiting to happen. And unfortunately I don’t know any other way to be than to lead with my heart.”
When Teague literally bumps into Mateo, she finds him hot but his God’s-gift-to-women air puts her off. She tries to downplay her attraction to him but it’s difficult when fate steps in and puts him right in her path.
“I’ve never been platonic with a girl whose pants I want inside of almost more than my next breath.”
Mateo can’t get enough of Teague, even though his circumstances dictate that he needs to stay away from her. He knows that she’s not a one-night-stand girl but it doesn’t stop him lusting after her.
“If I were into a one-time thing, or Mateo were into a long-term thing, we could make this work. But the truth is we want different things.”
As their friendship flourishes and they get to know each other, both find it difficult to keep the other in the friend zone, even though they want different things. Mutual desire and genuine affection get in the way.
“I’m completely taken with this girl. Her kiss. Her body. Her humor, intelligence, and genuine sweetness. She’s the kind of air I want to breathe in every single day.”
The more time Mateo spends with Teague, the more he realises that she is the one for him. Unfortunately, his career is a massive hindrance to his love life.
“Here’s the thing. She’s my one-and-only type. She’s my perfect f*cking type.”
I ADORED this book!! I loved Mateo and Teague together. They were fun, adorable, and freakin’ sexy together! They were friends with a tonne of chemistry. Their relationship was a slow, sizzling burn, as Teague tries to keep Mateo at arm’s length because they obviously want different things. Teague tries to keep him in the friend zone but his care of her and obvious desire for her makes it really difficult.
I loved Mateo’s POV and how adorable and attractive he found Teague. He was so obviously falling in love with her and questioning everything about his life. I loved how territorial and possessive Mateo was of her.
GAH! This book was a sexy, sweet, humorous romance! It gave me butterflies and couldn't put it down! Thoroughly recommend!
Tune in every morning and listen to The Dating Guy, the top L.A radio show host with his perfect British accent. That is what Teague and her friends do every morning when they are busy working in the coffee shop. During her work day, she heads over to the Wedding Event Planners next door and delivers the boss her coffee. During this occasion, she learns that the boss has fired her assistant and needs a new one. One thing leads to another and Teague ends up with two jobs - the coffee shop with her best friend Hope and the wedding planners. This part of the story felt very much like The Devil Wears Prada with Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep. During one of her nights out with Hope, she meets in an awkward position Mateo. For Mateo he fancies Teague, and she might be the one to change his playboy ways. Mateo kicks himself for not getting her number, but he will find his chances as turns out he will be seeing her more often than he realizes. As the relationship starts to form, will Mateo be able to keep up his double life as he has a secret that keeps him from being able to be in a committed relationship? Personally, though I found Talk British to Me a little disappointing as I had hoped that there would have been more of a UK/British feel and that we would have gone more into the real identity of Bennett - the Dating Guy. Overall, however, if you want a good romance read that's a mix between The Wedding Planner and Devil Wears Prada then check out contemporary romance novel Talk British to Me by Robin Bielman.

Every morning, the coffee shop that Teague, our heroine, works at goes silent as everyone is glues to the radio and Bennett's radio show about being a single guy dating around. She wants to be a travel journalist, though moving to LA is the furthest she has been from home. She bumps into a gorgeous guy - literally - not just once, but twice, after accidentally getting a second job as an assistant to a high profile wedding planner.
This starts off with instant attraction between Teague and Mateo (the actual identity of Bennett), but they fight that attraction for a significant portion of the book. Mateo helps show Teague around LA and their relationship slowly builds to more. I'm not sure why, but I had a harder time connecting with Mateo, and he felt a bit too arrogant to me a lot of the time. I think that he may have been less sentimental than I would have liked, and that made these two feel more like friends who lusted after one another than two people falling in love.
I typically love "alter egos" in stories, so was really looking forward to the "Bennett" aspect. It didn't come up much, except that Mateo had a secret he couldn't share and we got a synopsis of how he felt about Teague via the show every once in awhile. I really wanted some sort of interaction between "Bennett" and Teague!
This was definitely a fun read, with some excellent sexual tension! The wedding planning parts were a fun way of showing Teague's development, and the "LA tourist" bits were a delight!
I really had fun reading this story. It was very interesting and the plot was captivating. This is a light-hearted, fun and sexy romance that kept me entertained with all the interesting characters interwoven throughout the story. The main characters Mateo and Teague were a great pair. They had fantastic chemistry with witty and flirtatious banter. This is a story that is set on the radio, with L.A.‘s top morning show and its not a inta-love story but more of a slow burner romance which definitely throws off a lot of heat and heart. Talk British to Me is the start to the Wherever You Go series. I loved book 1 and I would be interested to see what the next book will hold. I adored Mateo and his sexy accent , I loved Teague and her sweet ways. If you love contemporary romance , especially NA romance, then you will love this story. I do not want to give too much of the story away, this is a book you need to experience!!

This was the first book by Robin Bielman I have read and I can say it won't be the last. The story is written in first person point of view, which isn't always my favorite because I love getting both sides of the story from characters. But overall the story is still amazing. I loved the chemistry between Mateo and Teague. Watching they try to resist each other had to be the second best part, agreeing to be friends at first and yet, the never ending flirting. You can't help but fall in love with them and want more. Robin did an amazing job at introducing us to secondary characters inthe story, which I hope we see in books to come in this series.
Wow. This book was not what I was excepting. But it was a fabulous read! The book is light hearted and romantic, with a bit of drama thrown in. I'm really impressed with Bielman's writing style and her character development is wonderful. I wouldn't hesitate picking up another book by this author.
Note, I did receive an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.
Robin Bielman is a new-to-me author and I have to say, I am completely hooked!
Talk British to Me is a light-hearted, flirty and fun romance full of swoon worthy moments. This is one of the slow burn romances that I absolutely adore.
Mateo is a radio host that gives advice about dating. However, no one knows that he is actually Bennett and has a fake British accent. Oh, and that there is a tiny stipulation in his contract...he can’t be in a relationship. Which suited him just fine...until Teague.
Teague is a girl who is just working her way through life. She works in a coffee shop in the morning and she also fell into the role of assistant for a wedding event planner. Both jobs keep her extremely busy and she has no time for love.
When Mateo meets Teague, all bets are off. He is bound and determined to spend time with her, as a friend. Teague wants nothing to do with him. Especially when she finds out he knows her boss.
Mateo and Teague were amazing. The chemistry between them was fun and flirtatious and left me wanting so much more! Mateo is just the ideal man. Sexy, charming, sweet, fun and gorgeous. Teague is a loveable, strong, quiet and intelligent woman who has no qualms about what she wants. Which is a relationship...which is exactly what Mateo cannot give her.
One of the things I loved the most about this book? The slow burn that led up to the turn in their relationship. Hell, over half way through the book before the hot, steamy sex (and yes, Mateo is one hell of a dirty talker) and it was well worth the wait!!
Can Mateo and Teague remain friends even though there is a undeniable chemistry between them? What will Teague do when she learns Mateo’s secrets?
Talk British to Me is a definite must on your summer to read list!!

I had such a good time reading Talk British To Me by Robin Bielman.
The writing was well done, the storyline was engaging and the characters Mateo and Teague were likable and very relatable.
I loved watching them get to know each other, from their first meeting I knew these two were going to entertain me. I enjoyed their friendship, I loved watching them open up themselves to each other and how their friendship grew to love.
These two might not have been looking for love but when you meet that special one you can't help but follow your heart.
It's no secret I'm a huge fan of author Robin Bielman and her writing. I love her passion, I love her storytelling and I love her beautiful heart. And for me she's once again delivered a heartwarming and entertaining read in Talk British to Me.
