Very good new instalment in the series. Offers more of what we've come to expect from Wagers: good actions, engaging characters, and well-moving plot. Recommended.

Hail is back, and she's trying to take back her empire. The second book in the Indranan War trilogy left us with Hail having escaped death and plotting her next move in the bid to regain her empire and kill the man who killed her parents.

Who is Wilson? He's obviously someone with a serious grudge against her family--he's wiped them all out, and he wants to see Hail suffer. If she's ever going to manage to get ahead of Wilson's planning, she needs to know who Wilson is.

This is a great conclusion to the trilogy--it's just as fast paced as the first two books, and Wagers doesn't skimp on any of the continuing character development. She writes a rich tapestry of nuanced characters and a story that makes you care about them, and it's carried me all the way through to the end. Given that this is just a trilogy, I'll miss these characters, but I can't wait to see what she'll do next.

This trilogy is a nice balance of character, story and action. It's well paced enough that you don't ever find it lagging, yet she works in enough backstory and development in that it's not without depth and context. Pick up all three, you won't regret it.
