I very much enjoyed this book. It was HOT and sexy. I couldn't put it down.
If you want a book with a lot of sex scenes then Misadventures of a City Girl by Meredith Wild and Chelle Bliss, Misadventures book one, is your book. Madison Atwood is in dire need of an escape after her recently publicized divorce. She runs to a posh retreat in Northern California hoping to re-center herself so she can move on. Veteran Luke Dawson lives off the grid, preferring to avoid society and interacting with people. When Luke encounters Madison soaking in the hot springs on his property, he cannot help but watch. Although she is a guest at the retreat on his property, he can’t help thinking and fantasizing about her. City girl Madsion soon discovers Luke’s secluded cabin where the two decide to spend time acting on their mutual attraction. When the outside world interrupts their sexual sanctuary, Luke is not ready to say goodbye to Madison, the only one who’s made him feel anything in years. Madison does not want to leave Luke behind after he brought her back to life. These two need to find a compromise to meet their needs for each other.
I enjoyed reading this book and had trouble putting this book down, reading it in one day. There was a lot of time in this story spent with Madison and Luke sharing sex, in detail, overpowering some scenes. I recommend this book to other readers and am looking forward to the next book in this series.

A mountain man may love a city girl, but where will they live?
Such a beautiful love story! Yes, there is a lot of sex - a LOT of hot, steamy, detailed love scenes, but there's also a wonderful story of how love requires us to compromise, to grow into our better selves in order to be part of a lasting couple. Madison thought she had that with her marriage, but finding out her marriage is over because her husband had been cheating on her nearly destroys her sense of self. Luke, also left hollowed by divorce as well as uncomfortable in crowds because of what he endured during his military service, believes that he is happy living the life of a hermit on his mountaintop. To say that these two have instant, explosive chemistry is putting it mildly. Their physical attraction merely provides the opportunity for their hearts to open up fully and take that terrifying fall into love. The crux of their relationship, and that of the book, is how these two opposites can possibly find a middle-ground solution that doesn't strip either one of what they value most about themselves. It's a beautifully detailed story, one that gives hope to all hopeless romantics and reaffirms that love does indeed conquer all. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book through NetGalley.
I really liked this fast-paced and steamy read. Madison and Luke are great character with off the charts hot chemistry. Both characters have been through a lot and found solace in each other, I would have liked to know more about them. Overall this is a very entertaining and steamy read.
Madison Atwood is a recently divorced Hollywood makeup artist. She seeks refuge from Hollywood at Avalon Springs Retreat. Luke Dawson is a former Navy Seal suffering PTSD is now a mountain man recluse. They seek solace in each other in the form of HOT sex. This is the story in a nutshell with no spoilers as storyline is lacking.
A 300 page HOT read that needs a storyline and character development. Lots of unanswered questions.....
Who is Susan? - ex mother in law thrown in the story with no background.
States Luke has PTSD but no elaboration.
What happened with Luke's ex wife? It is vaguely mentioned he has one.
Madison and her ex husband have been with each other since they were teenagers but that is all the background info given.
Madison is recently divorced and needing an escape from everything involved in her life that is splashed across the tabloids, she ends up at a retreat. When she arrives, she sets out exploring the area and heads up a mountain trail and meets a sexy, recluse mountain man named Luke.
Luke is an honorably discharged SEAL who, to cope with life after all he’s seen and done, lives off the land, far away from society in his secluded mountain home. He is set in his life of solitude, not needing or wanting companionship. All that changes when he meets Madison.
What a tale of two complete opposites that, like a magnet, have an undeniable pull to each other. They connect sexually in ways they have never experienced. They connect emotionally in a way neither expected nor can deny. They both have emotional pains from past experiences. Together, they find they heal each other and feel more complete than ever. Can these two polar opposites, the city girl and the mountain man, step out of their comfort zones and find that common ground where they will both be happy?
Wow, what a great sexy and steamy read! The passion and sexual chemistry between Madison and Luke is sizzling and off the charts hot! The tenderness and compassion is breath-taking. Watching these two open up to each other and really see themselves in each other is emotional and powerful. I thought this was a great story of second chances, redemption, and learning to live and love again knowing that what we have been through or done in our past does not define or determine who we are for an eternity.
I really enjoyed this story! I still laugh out loud when I think back to a couple of scenes from the book! Fantastic characters who could not seem more opposite but come together so beautifully. Well written and a very quick read.
This book captured my interest from the beginning and though it is written by two different authors it reads smoothly and you would never know!
Madison Atwood is a recent divorcee and her business is spread all over the tabloids, as her husband is a famous Hollywood actor. She is devastated and ashamed and she decides to leave and go to Avalon Springs in Northern California to escape all the madness and find a way to heal her broken heart. Madison is beautiful but she does not see herself that way, only as not being good enough to keep her husband's interest.
Luke Dawson owns the property that Madison is staying at. Luke is a recluse, he finds he can't deal with society any more. He is an ex Seal who saw more horrible things than he could not ever forget so he lives in a rugged cabin up on the hill away from the hot springs and barely goes to town either.
Madison wanders on the property the first day and winds up at the hot springs and decides to go in not realizing that Luke is watching her. What he sees is seared on his brain forever!
The next day Meredith goes back to the springs and sees Luke's cabin up on the hill and decides to go up there. What follows is a "meet and greet" of the sexy persuasion! After Luke goes to cut wood, she steals out of the cabin to go home, embarrassed at her own behavior. However fate steps in and after twisting her ankle, she is in no shape to go anywhere! Luke brings her back to cabin as there is going to be a bad snow storm.
They both get along well, however Luke does not know how he can keep a city girl in a place like he needs to live to survive. On the other hand Meredith feels so safe around Luke she does not want to leave.
Can a city girl and a rugged 6"7" ex Navy Seal find any common ground? Read this book and find out. It has everything, it made me laugh, cry, get frustrated on occasion with the characters and there is great chemistry between the two of them.
I gave this book 5*****stars and can't wait to read more by these authors!
MISADVENTURES OF A CITY GIRL by Meredith Wild and Chelle Bliss is the first installment in the multi-authored MISADVENTURES anthology series. This is Hollywood makeup artist Madison Atwood, and former Navy SEAL Luke Dawson’s story line. Each installment in the MISADVENTURES series is a stand alone, and can be read in any order.
Told from dual first person points of view (Madison and Luke) MISADVENTURES OF A CITY GIRL is an erotic story of romance; of insta lust between two people, far off the grid, struggling to move on with their lives. Madison Atwood is a newly divorced, single woman whose escape into the wilds at the Avalon Spa in Northern California will bring her face to face with a grizzly, mountain man Luke Dawson. Hoping to relax and recover following the revelation of her Hollywood hotshot husband’s infidelity, Madison embarks on a month long spa vacation but doesn’t intend to follow the retreat’s day to day itinerary. Enter Luke Dawson, a former Navy SEAL who struggles with PTSD, and the social anxiety of big city living. His reputation, whether earned or untrue, precedes his introduction to the people who live and work near the Avalon Spa. What ensues is the quick developing, sexual relationship between Luke and Madison, and the fall out as Luke struggles with his need for a woman whose entire life has been spent in the public eye.
MISADVENTURES OF A CITY GIRL is a quick read; an erotic romance based on sexual attraction, want and need. Opposites in every aspect of their lives, Madison and Luke’s physical relationship is all about the here and now. The character building is limited; the world building focuses on the woodlands of Northern California, and the back and forth relationship between our leading couple but saying that I struggled with some of the immaturity and actions of a man who has seen the worst and lived to tell about it, and of a woman who reacted without thinking about the consequences. There were also some discriminating reactions towards our leading couple that I felt needed some further explanation. While Madison begins living in the moment, Luke struggles with memories from the past. The premise and characters are interesting; the romance is erotic and intense.

When I first heard about this series and read the list of incredible talent that would be writing in the series, I was immediately intrigued. I wasn't sure how the series would connect but the more I read into the series itself (I'm already at book 3), the more I understand the thread. You guys are gonna enjoy the frikk out of these stories. They're not quick or short by any means but they are also not long and drawn out. They're fun and flirty and sexy afternoon reads with seriously kick-ass heroines and alpha males!
City girl, Madison Atwood is hiding. She's been thrown a curve-ball in her personal life and just needs to escape the public eye so she can catch her breath. Cue our handsomely rugged loner, Luke Dawson! These two had chemistry that sparked off my kindle. They were so perfect for each other. They brought out what the other needed the most in each other. It was really enjoyable to read and I hated to see it end!
I'm having a really good time with this entire series and I hope they're all as good as what I've read so far :)

I saw this book and it sounded AMAZING! And yep, it definitely lived up to the book summary! I LOVED it. I was wholly consumed by it and absolutely devoured it in a couple of hours. Yes, I realize I read faster than most, but it was that good of a story. I was lost in Madison and Luke's world. They are completely different and couldn't be more "mismatched" but it just worked for them. What began as instalust, because so much more!
I loved that he was a "mountain man." He served his country and sadly, couldn't handle living among civilians. He was raw, honest and he wasn't expecting or wanting a woman in his space, but he was drawn to Madison. It was a carnal want that he figured would never happen. And Madison surprised herself when it came to Luke. She was in the mountains to lick her wounds and find herself again. She was hurt from her ex-husband and just needed a getaway. She got WAY more than she bargained for and it was just what she needed. I enjoyed watching their relationship develop and the push/pull they had on each other. Their story was sweet, sexy, hot and made for an all-around great read! I highly recommend this writing duo!
It feels like I've been anticipating the Misadventures series forever. I was looking forward to reading the first book in the series, Misadventures of a City Girl. I'm not sure that I had any real expectations before sitting down to read the series debut.
Meredith Wild and Chelle Bliss give readers a sweet and sexy read with Madison and Luke's story. I loved how they meet and couldn't wait to see how their relationship would develop. The pages kept turning with this opposites attract romance.
I'm very much looking forward to reading what else in store with upcoming Misadventures.
4.5 Hot Stars This is an erotic romance between Madison a recent divorcee from a movie star and Luke an ex Navy Seal that as gone off the grid after his last tour of duty. Madison goes to a mountain retreat to lick her wounds and meet Luke in a very sexy way near his cabin. Their attraction is instant and smoking hot. Luke thinks he is a loner but Madison shows him that he can't live without her. Their adventure to work things out so they can be together is epic. I just wish the story had been a little bit longer to explain more about their younger lives.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book provided bu Waterhouse Press / NetGalley.
I think this is my first time reading both of these authors, even though I have been intrigued enough by the blurbs of other books they write to purchase some of their work. As introductions go, this one wasn't the greatest of starts, as it is really more of a 2.5 star read for me.
I loved the premise of this book, in so much that it focused on an older-ish couple, and Luke's "wild woodsman" characteristics. However, I felt that I didn't get as in depth with both Luke and Madison as I could have, probably due to the fact that the book focused more on the sexual aspect of the relationship, than the getting to know you part. I also didn't care for the "whiplashing" of emotional extremes, as it seemed like one or the other of them were getting pushed out of the budding relationship. There was more than one occasion where I was thinking "Make up your mind already!", and it really lessened my enjoyment of the book overall. Yet, I loved the descriptions found in this book, as I could easily picture things in my mind, and with great clarity!
All things considered, this was a decent introduction to both the series and these authors' writing style, but it could have been much better.
***3.5 Stars***
Having never read anything by either author, but always wanting to, I figured this would be a good way to kill two birds with one stone and while Misadventures of a City Girl was a smexy, quick read and I liked both MC’s when I finished the book I felt like I didn’t get enough insight to the characters. I did get enough to like them and have my heartstrings pulled when it came to what they were both going through, but in the end I felt like something was missing.
After all the atrocities Luke witnessed, and had some part of, while in the military he found that being back in civilian society wasn’t all it was cracked up to be and decided a solitary life was what he needed in order to maintain what sanity he had left. At heart, Luke was a good man with a big heart that just needed an outlet. He had his moments, but considering how long he’d been alone, his reactions weren’t unreasonable. Madison just had her world turned upside down and decides to leave the rat race, and gossip mill, behind and take time to work through it all. I had a weird relationship with Madison. I liked her. I thought that she handled everything as well as she could, but there were moments when I wanted to reach out and give her a little smack upside the head. But, she is sweet, sassy and has a good heart.
Luke and Madison’s journey definitely started out with a bang and just kept rolling. The smexy was hot, it does start more on the erotica side, but does end up sliding over to the erotic romance side. But this was most definitely an ‘insta” situation, whether you want to put it under lust or love, it was insta. And though I had no problem with that because they did open up about what led them to the mountain, I do wish they’d dug a little deeper with each other so that the insta could have been balanced out a little bit more. The issues that they were dealing with did get tied up quickly, but it worked for me.
Though I would have liked a little more out of Luke and Madison, I enjoyed the journey. The pacing was good and the writing was seamlessly done. So if you’re looking for a fun and quick read with a whole lot of heat then this is the book for you!
This was a nice, effortless quick read. It isn't particularly in depth, however, Misadventures of a City Girl was a fun, sexy, super hot, insta love read. If like me, you love Alpha Males and Sassy Females, then you will be sure to enjoy this snappy read - 3.5 stars
I was provided with a copy of this book from the Publisher via NetGalley; there was no inducement or obligation.
Misadventures of a City Girl by Meredith Wild and Chelle Bliss was sweet, sexy and full of hot chemistry. Two people who were a bit lost and lonely who found each other when least expected.
Madison Atwood is licking her wounds. Her high school sweetheart, whom she later married and supported in pursuit of his dreams betrayed her in the worst way possible. And what is worst? It’s all over the tabloids. She needs to get away and regroup. Newly divorced and still hurting, she heads to Avalon Springs retreat. What she did not expect was to encounter a man who would turn her world upside down.
Luke Dawson is happy with his life. Lonely? Maybe, but he needs solitude to survive. After serving his country for years as a Seal, he is devastated over what he did and saw. Living within civilization is just too much for him. Living in the mountains on his own gives him the peace he so desperately needs. But when he stumbles upon a woman soaking in the hot springs, he feels a pull he cannot deny.
When Luke first comes upon Madison at the hot springs, he cannot look away, but he is determined to keep his distance. But when they encounter each other again and mother nature interferes, they are drawn to each other. Their chemistry is intense and instant. But what happens when reality settles in again? Madison has her life in Los Angeles and Luke needs the peace the mountains bring him.
I loved Luke. Though he was suffering from past demons, he was a good man with a good heart. But he also knew what he needed in his life. Could he give Madison what she needed? Madison was devastated with where her life was at the moment. Lost and feeling rejected, she needed to find her purpose again. She never intended to find Luke, but he opened her up in ways she never knew.
Misadventures of a City Girl was such a sweet, sexy and quick read that includes a hot and sexy mountain man! I loved Luke and Madison and their story. I could not put the book down!
Have you ever wanted to read a love story that was fun, sexy, and just HOT?
Have you ever wanted to find a partner that completed you in every way?
Have you ever wanted to step outside of your comfort zone, but was scared to make the leap?
The collaboration of Meredith Wild and Chelle Bliss, two of the best authors in the game, gives us all of that with Misadventures of a City Girl. The writing of this book flows so well, you can’t tell where one leaves off and the other picks up.
Luke and Madison are as mismatched as any two could be. She’s a city girl, and he’s a country boy. She’s soft and demure, he’s rugged and strong. She’s outgoing and fun, he’s introverted and brooding. Finding each other in the kinkiest way, they develop into the most loving couple. They learn and grow while taking each other out of their comfort zones. They’ve both been broken, but together they heal.
The sex . . . awww the sex! It’s sensual, it’s often, and good gracious it’s HOT!!!
If you want a great, hot, fun read from two amazing authors, grab a copy of Misadventures of a City Girl. But I suggest you have the air on, the ceiling fan spinning, and the coldest thing you can find to drink . . . because it will set you on fire.
If I could give more than 5 stars I would because it would be deserving of every single one!
Absolute Perfection!!! I love when two authors can come together and flawlessly write a book. You can’t tell where one author begins and the other ends. The plot is well planned and I love how the story unfolds in two POV’s. You get the full story from both sides and a better understanding of the characters. The characters couldn’t be more different from one another but the attraction between the two is undeniable. This book is lighthearted but sizzling hot at the same time, it’s the perfect summer read. I can’t recommend this book enough it’s just one that you need to read.
I was lucky enough to win a hardcover for an honest review.
This book was fine. I don't really think the characters have enough in common to last as a couple. So, I have a hard time believing in the happily ever after. Also, both main characters annoyed me. I guess the hero is supposed to have ghost broody, uncommunacative thing going on, but I find communication great!
