This author is new to me and an ARC was provided by Random House Publishing Group - Loveswept via Netgalley for an honest review.
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Mature Content: Yes, but nothing too kinky
Type: Standalone
POV: First Person – Dual
Although this is the second book in the series, I love the fact that it can be read as a standalone. The characters, Davis and Grace, are well defined and are very likable. The writing style hooked me and i couldn't put down my kindle. The secondary characters are also well written and likable. But going back to Davis and Grace, they are the exact opposites. Davis is a handsome always wearing a suit type of guy. Grace is the snarky redhead barmaid with tattoo and nose ring. And then one night Grace dared Davis to date her. I believe the theme of the story is, the guy despite of what happened in his past he still wants to commit a relationship with Grace. While Grace on the other hand is having some issues moving forward. I will stop here now .... and no more spoilers.
Arm Candy is charming and sweet, and most of all not too much drama (considering the genre its in). I heard that Book 1 Eye Candy is going to be out in the market this July (I missed out on this one, but I'll definitely keep an eye on it).
I highly recommend this book 5 stars out of 5.
Jessica hit it out of the park again with this delightful sequel to Eye Candy. I loved the depth and growth of Davis and Grace. It was a superb balance of the reality of healing and wild passion. I can't wait to read more in this series!
Arm Candy by Jessica Lemmon
Arm Candy is book two in Lemmon's Real Love series and while it's certainly a standalone within the series, I'd strongly suggest reading book one if you want to fully appreciate the relationship (or lack thereof) between Davis and Grace.
Grace is the red-headed bartender -though she prefers to be called a beer mistress- at McGreevy's pub where the delectable Davis likes to frequent rather ahh frequently. Davis is the suit and tie guy who works from home and likes routine, from his breakfast to his seat in the bar. There's clearly a simmering attraction between these two and neither will act on it for pretty much the same reason: Davis seems to be intent on bedding every blonde at the bar. Never a brunette, definitely never a redhead, always the blondes which obviously rules Grace out. This stands firm until the night Grace issues a challenge in the form of a dare that Davis just can't back down from and that's when the fun and sexy times begin.
I really wanted this book having met Davis previously. I knew there'd be a reason for his attitude and I was determined to get to the bottom of it. I adored him. He's the kind of guy who when he finally gets his head around it, wants the perfect partner, the marriage, kids, the whole nine yards. He was really sweet and patient with Grace although I was inclined to give him a kick in the bum a time or two. Grace, on the other hand, has not had the best examples for a happy marriage and shies away from anything remotely resembling commitment. She's happy being free and doing what makes her happy. I think these two were the ideal complement to each other.
While this isn't my favorite of the two books in the series, it's still a highly enjoyable one. The characters both had problems and issues that they needed to work through and it was great to be a part of that journey. I'm looking forward to book three now but can't believe I have to wait till next year!

I liked this book although not my usual type of story. I had to keep putting it down and going back to it because I would lose interest. It was pretty good once I got through it. I recommend it if you like this kind of book
The instant Davis Price's eyes land on the feisty little redhead behind the bar he is completely enamored with her, but as appealing as she may be, he doesn't date redheads. The last one left a mile long scar on his heart and since then he has veered completely away from them, cause frankly it just hurts to damn much to want to go there again. But, the more time he spends with Grace, and the more sex infused one liners they trade, the more he starts to realize his attraction to her isn't going away anytime soon. So, when she issues a challenge, he can't help but want to take it, what harm could there be in one little date?
When you work in a bar you become accustom to being hit on, hell Grace Buchanan has come to expect it every shift she's behind the bar, and she has become quite good at deflecting it too... that is until Davis Price sidles up to the bar. Something about his suit and tie attire intrigues her, then he opens his mouth and the feisty banter ensues and she can't help but start to fall for him a little. But Mr. Suit and Tie has a type, petite, plain, blondes, and it's quite evident she is about as far away from that as she could get. Her bright red hair, tight sexy attire, and tattoos are surely not his thing... or are they?
The moment I started Arm Candy I was hooked, it was SO GOOD, I just couldn't put it down, so I wound up staying up until the wee hours of the morning just to finish, and damn was it worth the loss of Zzz's!! Davis wandered onto the page and I completely lost my ability to think, there is just something about a dirty talking sharp dressed man, in a suit, that I cannot deny, and apparently I wasn't the only one he had this effect on, cause he got Grace pretty good too!! They were about as opposite as two people could be, but that didn't seem to matter at all when they were near one another, the heat swirling between them would take over and all that mattered was their need for one another... and boy did things get hot!! I thoroughly enjoyed my time with these two, their story warmed my heart, gave me the feels, and left me aching for more... I really can't wait for Man Candy!! I have to say this is by far one of my favorite series from Ms. Lemmon to date, and I am certain if you give it a try her endearing characters are sure to win you over too, highly recommend this series!!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title.
Arm Candy was a glad change in reading for me. I have read some pretty heavy books and I needed something that was light and not so serious. Arm Candy was that book. I could read it without worrying that I was going to burst a brain vessel reading it or cry my eyes out because it was so sad. It was just what I needed!!
Grace was introduced in Eye Candy as the new bartender that caught Davis’s eye. I will say that Grace wasn’t your cookie cutter romance heroine and I loved it. She had tattoos and not just one teeny tiny one that was covered up. Nope, she had a few. I will say that I have very rarely seen a heroine that had ink and found it very refreshing. Also, she wasn’t afraid to put Davis in his place and she was sexually confident. Again, which is something that I haven’t really read in romance novels of late. I can count on one hand the number of novels that I have read that have a heroine who knew what she wanted when she wanted it and how she wanted it. She did have her issues, thanks to her parents and those issues almost caused her relationship with Davis to fail.
Davis was such a manwhore. He had a revolving door of blondes and he was getting a little tired of them. So when Grace suggested that he date a nonblonde, he decided to ask her out. I died laughing at the Davis packages that he offered her. I did like him, a lot. He was perfect for Grace in so many ways yet, also, in so many ways, they were opposite. His relationship with his grandmother, who was a spitfire, was pretty awesome too. I mean, when Grace broke his heart, who did he go running too? His grandmother!!
I loved the romance part of this book too. Instead of having Instalove, Grace and Davis’s relationship was allowed to grow from her first mention in Eye Candy. They became friends, then lovers and then they fell in love. The only thing that I even had a complaint about, though, was the eventual breakup. I think that the return of Grace’s father and her mother’s being so jaded (she was a divorce attorney) that kind of forced Grace down that path. I wish it didn’t happen but it did add depth to the book.
The sex was out of this world hot but it was also sweet. I could tell, before Grace and Davis did, how they felt about each other because of the sex scenes. They were powerful but sweet. Loved it!!
I loved the ending and I can’t wait to see Grace and Davis make an appearance in the Man Candy when it is published in 2018. Maybe I will get lucky and get an ARC!!
How many stars will I give Arm Candy: 4

Why: Sex and language

Feisty and fun. I liked both characters and loved their banter in the beginning that ratcheted up the tension
I am a new Jessica Lemmon reader. For me sometimes her books are hits and other times misses. This is book two about friends who find love and I really LOVED the first book so I was excited to read this story, it was a good story, just not as good as the first one. It does easily stand alone and we do see the first couple in this book but not much happened in the previous book for this couple so this book won't make you feel lost.
The stars in this book are Grace and Davis and I just didn't love them like I loved the first couple. For one they both sleep around a lot. They also are both anti commitment. I enjoy books with one who does that but with both it just distanced me from the couple. And Grace is a bartender, she is happy being one and has no career aspirations. Beyond sex I was not sure why Davis wanted her.
Anyways, the book was well written. For me my issue was that I did not like Grace. I had no idea why Davis was so into her. I LOVED Davis but it was not enough for him to carry the story.
I loved Arm Candy. Grace is a fiery red head bartender and Davis is a stock analyst with an aversion to red heads. Both Grace and Davis have trying pasts. Grace's parents went through a nasty divorce and Davis's dad died at a young age and his mom abandoned him. Davis has the added layer of being left at the alter on his wedding day by his red headed fiancee.
Grace and Davis have to discover how and what love is and what letting another person in can do to survive as a couple. It may be a long journey for them.
Jessica Lemmon wrote a wonderful love story in this book.
A great live story of 2 broken hearts. I fell in love with Davis in Eye Candy. I fell more in live in Arm Candy.
Grace was amazing too, loved her sass.
the name of this book confused me....The characters were never arm candy to each other, however, the story was great. I would definitely recommend this book to all my friends and I will keep this author in my sites.
This is the second book in the series but it can be a stand alone. We're introduced to Davis Price as Vince's best friend in Eye Candy. The guy who works from home bit wears a suit & tie everyday. The guy who has picked up every blond from McGreevy's pub under the watchful of the snarky redheaded barmaid, Grace. It might take the platinum package to make Grace fall for Davis or maybe it was what made Davis fall for Grace. Either way the spark between the two is off the charts. Lucky, for Vince & Jackie they now have another couple to hang out with. Thanks Netgalley for the ARC, in lue of a review.
So happy that Grace and Davis got their story! Loved them in the first book of the Real Love series (Eye Candy) and they didn't disappoint! Sweet and sexy!
3.75 stars
I love a good friends to lovers trope done well and this was enjoyable. It has the feel good best friends to more which can go both ways sweet or painful. For a new author to me, I was instantly attracted to the story. Very relatable how you crush on your friend but she has the hots for someone else. You know you guys could be something but one party is afraid try. In a bit of self preservation you push them towards their crush and hope it leads back to you. Well usually it's the heroine who does this but in this case it's Vince. I still think it's a plan that will backfire.
Jacqueline and Vince are both divorced and that's how they bonded aside from working well together. Jacqueline's good looking neighbor caught her eye and somewhat spurred their friendship forward. What happens now that said crush notices her too? We have a sorta triangle going on. Hart of Dixie reference is win. But it's not the super angsty triangle. They definitely needed to work on the communication part for best friends, that little bit was frustrating. I understand some of that is the residual effects their divorces had on them.
I honestly liked them how they bonded and hang out. I can truly sense the comfort and ease with them. Both are likable characters but I definitely felt the need to shake them. It's not unusual to be confused about in kind of situation for sure and transitions can get a lot of tension. While there are a few bumps on their way the HEA is satisfying and fun. I liked the author's writing and the rom-com feel of this. I get the swoony and the feels of the their romance. I definitely looks forward to Davis' book!
Grace works at the bar Davis goes to nearly every day after work. They are both attracted to each other but Grace sees Davis with lots of women and Davis says he only dates blondes.
The plot started out a little slow and I especially wasn't sure I was going to like Davis at first. However, as I read, Davis began to grow on me. Especially as you start to understand his past and how it's shaped him and his views on relationships.
I especially enjoyed getting both Davis and Grace's perspectives, sometimes the point of view switching even mid-chapter so the reader can see what they both think in the moment.
This is the second book in the series and I can't wait to read Vince and Jackie's story when their book is released. The author did a great job of integrating them into the story for those who have already read it, but not spoiling it for those who haven't yet.

Funny, witty, and engaging are the words I'd use to describe this book, it surprised me more than I though it would. A definite recommendation from myself.
Entertaining and great characters, but very slow pace. Once you get invested in the characters, you don't care about the pace anymore. Grace is feisty and adorable, Davis is kind. He has issues and at times comes across like a jerk, but overall, he is always kind.
I just wasn't feeling this book, but I'm obviously in the minority here. The book was predictable, as expected, but I really didn't like Grace and I think that is the reason I gave this 3 stars instead of 4. This was my first Jessica Lemmon book, so I obviously didn't read the first book in the series, but this can be easily read as a standalone.
Grace is a red-headed bartender with two divorced parents who are/were divorce lawyers. Her dad took off after her parents divorced and has been estranged since then. Needless to say, she hasn't exactly had the best role model for how a relationship should work.
Davis is a successful stock analyst that works from home and still wears his nice suit and tie to work every day (you have to respect him for dressing the part even when no one sees him). He was left at the altar years ago and hasn't wanted to deal with that heartache again. He has these 'packages' that he offers women as a way to set expectations before they even get involved and all of these packages are offered to blondes since his ex was a redhead. Yes, the whole package thing is a bit shallow and odd, but it works for him and at least he's honest with the ladies in advance.
Davis has been coming into Grace's bar for a long time and he finds her incredibly attractive and intriguing since she's not exactly his type. But she is a redhead and he still has a thing against them. Grace dares him to ask out the next non-blonde and she'd give him $200 if it was a redhead, so of course he asks her out.
Their relationship is anything but the norm for Davis. The packages are forgotten, the sex is hot and their relationship is sweet. I loved Davis, once you got past the packages part. He was cute, thoughtful, loved his grandmother and was generally a very nice guy. Davis was a great guy for her and put his heart on the line again, but felt she was the one for him. Of course, Grace screws things up, believes her bitter mother and breaks things off with Davis. Grace was just way too wishy-washy and a coward for my liking. Why let someone else tell you how you should feel? She ended up miserable, Davis was miserable, but yet he was still the bigger person in the end, despite her breaking his heart.
They get their HEA and it doesn't take too long for them to figure out they can't live without each other. The epilogue was a nice touch as well.

I was so intrigued when I read the blurb for this book and I was hoping that I would dive into it and it would be one of those books I couldn't put down. While I did enjoy it, it just wasn't that kind of book for me. The characters were likable, however the story line was fairly predictable and I feel like I've read this kind of book many times over.
Grace Buchanan is what she has termed a "beer mistress" or in layman's terms, a bartender. She has always lived with the pressure that her mother wants her to follow in her footsteps by becoming a lawyer, but Grace is more than happy doing what she's doing. She's also sworn off any kind of relationships and when she's asked out by patrons at the bar she always turns them down. She blames all of her reluctance in relationships on her parents and how their marriage crumbled. Grace is very intrigued by one of her regulars, but she doesn't want to be.
Davis Price is a suit wearing guy who likes to spend his time sitting in front of Grace at her bar. He is terribly intrigued by the redheaded bartender, but she is also the exact opposite of the women he normally goes after. He also is a one to hook up with women, but he's not into relationships.
When Davis and Grace end up embarking on a sex-only arrangement, sparks fly and the two realize that not only do they have wicked chemistry in the bedroom, they also enjoy doing "normal" things together like watching television and eating chips. Could this be a situation where opposites attract? Can these two people with complicated pasts fill the void the other has?
As I said before, I enjoyed this book, however it just seemed so predictable to me. I struggled to connect with the book for quite awhile and finally once I did, it was a predictable ending. I really wanted to love it more.
This is a new author for me, and I really had no idea what to expect. However, I was so charmed by her writing style from the very first paragraph, I was hooked! I can't wait for more in this series. Incidentally, this is book 2 in the series, and it was pretty obvious I'd missed book one, but it wasn't a bother. I will read it as soon as it's available. Her style is almost in your face, but it's not abrasive in the least. It sets a very authentic, conversational feel. She alternates the POV between the two main characters, and she skillfully makes sure they both have their own voice.
The characters, Davis and Grace, are well defined and are very likable people. They are both a bit of a surprise. The secondary characters are also well fleshed out, though not all of them are likable at all! This makes for some excellent conflict. The book is somewhat light on plot, but that worked for me. It wasn't full of contrived drama found so often in this genre.
All in all, I highly recommend this book.
