Ah! What can I say?? Two of my favourites things: dumplings and cats! What's not to love? A great crochet instruction book, simple steps and super cute!
Dumpling Cats: Crochet and Collect Them All! by Sarah Sloyer is so cute. It has become an instant favorite!
The patterns are well written, the photos are clear and helpful and I think fans of crocheting amigurumi would love having this book in their pattern collection. Each cat comes with its own name and little storyline. I crocheted “Chuck”. I made two of these and the pattern was easy to follow. I modified mine a little and omitted the legs making the tail a little longer to wrap around the body.
With simple patterns you can make really cute cats. There are plenty of patterns here to try, 25 total. There is a cat with a mermaid tail and one with flower petals around its head that I want to make as well. I'd say these patterns are for advanced beginners and onward.
Dumpling Cats: Crochet and Collect Them All! is a pattern book to be used again and again, I love it! Special thanks to NetGalley/Dover Crafts for my review copy.
I really liked this book because come on, cute crochet kitties? Like, hello... what is there not to like?
From the cover to the end the book was aesthetically pleasing and kawaii approved! At first, I was worried on how the instructions for crocheting the kitties will be because I have some patterns are difficult for me to understand from the get go and I have to actually crochet it first and understand as I go and re-do some aspects of the pattern to get it correct but not for the patterns from this book.
The patterns were easy to follow as it had step-by-step detailed instructions and photographs, which by the way was superb. There is 25 patterns in this book as well as extra patterns for miscellaneous things such as food bowls, boxes and a pet bed.
I would highly recommend this book to anybody who likes to crochet as the finished products can be used for gifts or any of the sort.
Adorable and makes me want to learn to crochet just so I can stitch up so,e of these adorable critters! Some of the patterns seem complex but the photographs are inspiring.

This isn't a book for those brand new to crochet; but rather is for the advanced novice to intermediate crocheter. It presents a range of adorable tiny toy cats (amigurumi) to crochet, including food bowl and box! They are great gifts for children, cat lovers or to sell at a craft fair! They crochet up quickly and are so cute you might keep them for yourself!
Adorable projects with good instructions. Definitely a book that I might purchase for other crafting friends and family.
What a cute crochet craft book for those who love cats. These things are the perfect size for quick work and the feeling of accomplishment, which I love when crafting. With this book, you look through, pick the one you’re interested in crafting and have a great time creating it. I found the patterns very creative and nicely laid out with colored pictures throughout to help visualize where you are going with it. There are so many that I like but my favorite is “Cheeks”. I would recommend this to fellow crochet crafters.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Twenty five patterns for adorable dumpling- shaped kittens fill this crochet pattern book. Each kitten has it's own name and personality described along with simple drawings ans full-color photographs with easy to follow instructions suitable for beginners and experienced crocheters. There are also bonus patterns for cat beds and food bowls ,etc to create your own dumpling kitten village. Some of the kittens even have costumes and accessories. One kitten is a frog and another is a mermaid while one kitten is a good witch..this is a fun and whisical patternbook that will be enjoyed by crocheters of all ages.
This was so great! I loved her original dumpling cat on Ravelry, so I was excited to see a WHOLE book. So far I've only made the cardboard box, but I know that all the kitties I make will be easy as pie :) Love the illustrations and little stories that go with each pattern. 5 stars!
Wonderful book for the creative person who loves To make sweet little creatures as gifts or just to love. Photos and detailed instructions make this book a must have in every crafters book shelf.
Cats and yarn just go together. Why not make some cats out of yarn? The designs are all super adorable and there's a nice variety of shapes so any cat can be replicated in yarn. Even the kitties who fancy themselves lions or flowers or mermaids. The cats are all made from basic shapes so even someone new to crocheting should be able to make their own Dumpling Cat. More experienced crocheters can have fun customizing the cats and coming up with their own variations.

Dumpling Cats by Sarah Sloyer is a collection of 25 cats to crochet. The patterns are slightly advanced for my current crocheting skill level. I loved the descriptions of each cat. The patterns were well written and featured pictures throughout. Bonus patterns for food bowls, cat bed, and even a cardboard box are included. I am adding this to my wish list so I can make these adorable cats when I am a more confident crocheter. I suspect I will give them a try sooner rather than later as the cats are too cute!
WOW WONDERFUL TUTORIAL OF CUTE CATS WITH CROCHET......
Dumpling Cats is a great little book on handmade crochet cats, and friends, and even a kitty bed. There is a glossary of stitches, and a wonderful pictorial contents page so you can quickly find the project that catches your eye and start crocheting. The illustrations are in beautiful color, and are clean and crisp, and are easy to follow. There is a bio page about each character before the instructions for each little cat or friend. The projects are small enough to finish fairly quickly. Reminiscent of the popular Japanese style critters. Cute! For public libraries and needlework centers, and for gift giving.
This is an absolutely adorable book and a must-have for cat lovers. Beginning crocheters can easily master these patterns and they make great gifts. So much fun and work up so quickly!
Full of wonderful and adorable patterns and illustrations this book is purrfect for cat loving crocheters! The patterns were easy to follow for beginner amigurumists who're ready to step up their crochet game. I tried out the "Tater" dumpling cat pattern and it was absolutely adorable! (my cat loved it so much she adopted it) There are even some bonus patterns for the little dumpling cats. I highly reccomend this book for all crocheters, be you a beginner, cat lover, or just want to spice things up with these cute litte dumplings.
I like that this book offers both easy and intermediate level project and very clear instruction, I will purchasing this book for my collection.
This beautiful book includes so much more than patterns for a bevy of adorable felines. The instructions are perfectly spot-on with great tutorial photographs showing step-by-step how to create your own versions. There are kitties, kitties in costume, kitty accessories and a bonus 'cardboard box' pattern which made me laugh out loud. I followed two of the patterns (Wilbur - Bee costume?! HELLO?! and Bug - colorpoint and tiny and adorable) without any hiccups or problems.
Each of the cats has a backstory introduction with a cartoon potrait. The formatting and color are perfect.
Wonderful book, highly recommended!

This is a little gem for anyone both new and experienced in the great art of crochet and amigurumi. Each pattern is laid out simply, with both Supplies and Directions, with great photos that help with each pattern. These cute little kitties would be a welcome gift for the Cat Lovers in your life!
