If you have (or can get) hot glue, scissors, colored paper, felt, fabric, cupcake wrappers or balloons, you can make most of these wreaths. Others suggest uses for fresh herbs, embroidery floss and even faux succulents and flowers. Some need floral wire/foam/other wreath forms, but not all.
Some ideas I'd seen before on other websites, so I docked a half-star, but on the whole these looked inspirational and within realms of possibility, even for the craft- or time-challenged. Best of all, they won't break the bank!
A person could make these in a day. However I don't feel that they would look enough like a store bought wreath to make people want to try.
As someone who has never made a wreath before but really wanted to try, I thoroughly enjoyed this book! There were a lot of interesting ideas that I couldn't have thought of otherwise, unconventional items if you will such as ballons and cupcake wrappers.
Not only are these wreaths cute and creative, but simple and fun to make as well. My 8 year old niece could easily makes these, and, since they are so quick and easy, be able to complete it in one sitting. Not to mention they won't cost you an arm and leg to make!
A very informative and well presented book. A few crafts here that I will attempt myself at some point.
My only negative point is the galley I was sent didn't download very well at all, and despite trying a few times it stayed the same so it was difficult to follow the instructions. However, I believe that is an issue with my laptop. This book would work much better as a print copy.
I've always been interested in wreaths and this book gave me a lot of information and ideas to make some. Brilliant.
This was a fun and inspiring DIY book. If you are crafty at all (or like to pretend to be) this book is for you. All the instructions are easy to follow and includes several pictures along the way. I found myself visualizing areas in my house that needed some decoration.
So many different wreaths with different materials ....... wonderful crafts to decorate our home......
Who would have thunk it? Wreaths from fabric balls, balloons, cupcake baking cups, crepe paper and more. As usual, this Dover craft book is filled with colorful photographs and easy instructions that enable you to design the selected craft. You'll come up with your own cleverly-created wreaths.
While this book had a few really cute ideas a few had my scratching my head - they just didn't look that good. However, the wreathes that looked cute actually looked easy enough to do and didn't need a whole bunch of supplies. I appreciated that the wreathes looked like something I could tackle and it would turn out cute. It also could be fun for some library crafting!
A fun filled idea for wreaths using things most people don't use for wreaths. Birthday, sure use balloons, plants, paper cut into shapes, sure. There are some cute ideas in this book. Mostly, it's a base for ideas and a way to think outside the box of just using silk flowers or burlap and rolls of colored burlap. My daughter made the balloon wreath and we didn't even use a real wreath base but a cardboard circle.
Great ideas to get your creative juices flowing.
Make in a Day: Modern Wreaths by Victoria Hudgins is a craft books of 15 different styles of wreaths. I probably wouldn't use many of the styles, so I won't recommend the book, but it might be a great fit for someone else's craft style.
Filled with colourful wreaths designed for an array of ages and abilities, wreath making is made fun!
Made with everyday items from shops such as straws, embroidery threads and craft polystyrene balls as well as simply coloured card, these wreaths are an everyday twist on a usually Christmas only decoration.
The wreaths may look complicated but the guide is clear and they really aren't as hard to make as they look on first glance, many folding techniques and threading helps to achieve their look.
Set with an easy to follow and read layout, you can make these alone or aided by someone else and can enjoy making something fun together!
Many thanks to the publishers for allowing me to review this book for them!
