Royal Pain is a good fit for those seeking a lighthearted, adventurous romance featuring a charming, womanizing prince and a strong-willed commoner who challenges his royal status.
I got this book as an ARC for a honest review. Thank you for the opportunity to read. The narrative did not appeal.
It was okay. Typical bad boy royal romance where the spare has to step up in the absence of the heir and be a grown up. I didn't connect with the characters or the story. I won't be continuing on with the series.
I really wanted to get into this book but it just was not for me. it started off slow and was hard for me to get into. i was able to read about 3/4 of it before putting it down. i will try to get back into it another time.
Unfortunately this book was a DNF. I don’t have a problem with trope-y books or ones with “instalove” if it’s done well enough and the characters are interesting. But this book was tedious to wade through, and it felt like every chapter had some kind of plot twist element thrown in Emeril Laggasse style *BAM*. So I chose not to continue reading.
I am new to Tracy Wolf’s writing and I found myself really enjoy her style. And add royalty to the mix, makes me a fan!
I voluntarily reviewed this book.
*3.5 stars*
Royal hotness indeed!
A jaunt into the downside of being royal still made for an intriguing, suspenseful, romance…
Savvy was my favourite character though Kian was a close second. How they met, the back and forth between them was funny and flirty. Until it got serious. And then, uh oh. The awkwardness set in between them, and honestly for me too. The unexpected twist to their story was something I didn’t see coming and, honestly, I’m not sure I liked. For me, it set a new tone for their relationship that took their course completely off-kilter…
Would I read more of this series? Of this author? Absolutely! Garrett deserves his story after everything he’s been through. I loved the characters and their banter. The schmexy scenes were some of the best I’ve ever read. They were passionate and emotional, effortless in the intimacy they projected.
I didn't really like this book and couldn't finish it. I don't think it would be fair for me to go into all the reasons why since I quit at 45 percent.
I wasnt sure what to expect since the beginning of the book intro'd with a scene so hot I thought the book was going combust in my hands. Kian is definitely a Royal Hotness, but he is no match for a fiesty, shoot from the hip American that swoops in an charms his pants off. Savvy thought she was doing a good deed, simply trying to save him from the claws of social crown chasers. She had no idea that she would fall for such a man. Knowing his reputation, she immediately tries to back away from the instant chemistry they had, but Kian is persistant and manages to track her down. From there, its just a push and pull between these two, as they try to work through their dramas and secrets, but steam the pages in the process.
Good, not great. It felt mostly about the sex. I didn’t really feel a connection to anyone. I mean steamy scenes are good sometimes, but this felt all steam no substance.
ROYAL PAIN - Tracy Wolff
#1 in the His Royal Hotness romance series
NOT MY FAVORITE - 3 stars
Plot - 4 stars - Actually there's a little more to this book than a typical romance, although there's definitely plenty of that. Kian is the "spare" prince and loves his life of royalty without the responsibility. But when his brother the crown prince goes missing, Kian has to step up to be the heir as well as find his brother. At the same time, Kian is smitten with a waitress who is doing her best to avoid him.
Writing - 2.5 stars - I was caught up in the story right away because of the flippancy and humor of the male main character, as well as the hint of a mystery right from the beginning. I've read Wolff before and enjoyed her books, but this one was all about the sex, so over-the-top that it actually got boring.
Characters - 2.5 stars - This is where the story fell a little flat for me. Kian turns out to be a bit of a jerk about women, actually, but he's entertaining and honest and, underneath, he cares about his family and about his country. Unfortunately, he's also all about the sex--I can't control myself, I need you, I want you, blah blah blah. There was a lot of potential there, but I didn't think it played out. Savvy is smart and funny, with a bit of snark and sarcasm thrown in to make her interesting. But her former relationship with Garrett seemed a little ick to me, and again, all she seemed to care about was sex. A good match for Kian, I suppose, but way too much of a good thing. Although Garrett is basically a secondary character (talked about a lot), I liked his personality and stability better than the other two.
Title - 3.5 stars - Cute play on words, pointing out the obvious fact that Kian is a huge pain to everyone, especially his security detail.
Cover - 3 stars - Good-looking guy who actually does look like a prince. The fact that he's in profile and seated (on a throne?) draws the eye. But the black and white cover didn't present a "royal" appearance.
Overview - 3 stars - This was a bit of a disappointment. I've read Wolff before and enjoyed her books, but this one seemed like she ran out of ideas. The premise was promising and started out well, but Kian and Savvy's relationship never really developed beyond the sex-all-the-time part and felt like a one-note tune. The mystery added a bit of interest, but it wasn't really enough to keep things moving. So there was both erotica and mystery, but they didn't combine particularly seamlessly. Although I didn't hate it, it was very put-downable. It's a relatively short book, but it took me a while to read it because it was easier to take in short doses. I will continue with the next book, giving this series another chance to see if something new develops.
This was a great book. Moved fast. I really enjoyed the authors writing style. Thanks for the Arc Netgalley
I liked aspects of this one, but that being said, it also had some issues for me. I'm giving this 3 out of 5 stars. This review is for an ARC, and reflects my honest opinion.
I did actually like Kian's character for the most part. He was pretty much a self-proclaimed manwh*re, but we didn't see a ton of that in the book since it focused on him and Savvy. I liked Savvy in the beginning; she seemed so confident, sarcastic, and smart. But later on she did a complete 180 personality-wise. And on that note, I didn't like how Savvy second guessed Kian and his intentions...but the second he popped back up, everything was fine again.
There was a lot of repetition in this book, especially when they were getting intimate/making out. Honestly the author could have cut half of those scenes out, and the book would have been even better. And no matter how much sex Kian has had, I don't think anyone has the kind of skills portrayed in this book. After their initial meetings and conversations, these two were pretty much focused on being intimate and nothing else. So it felt like the connection and feelings came way too early/easily.
It wasn't a bad book, but I felt like it could have been great if some things had been done differently. That being said, I will be reading the next book in this series.
R oh yal Pain is a hit and steamy read thatt will burn up your kindle from the first page. Make sure you dont read this book in public. Its to hot to read in front of an audience.
Prince Kian of WIldemar is a man who doesn't have to try real hard to get a woman in bed, in fact with his status he can pretty much get anyone he wants. That is until he meets sassy waitress Savannah Breslin. Kian wants her and for once in his life he is having to pursue her and is out of his element. While his focus on Savvy he gets summoned back to do his duty as the Prince. His twin brother has been kidnapped and now is not a time for distractions, especially with a woman who has her own share of heartbreak and is not wanting a repeat performance.
This was a surprising one, several twists and turns. I thought the interaction between Kian and Savvy was terrific, instant chemistry and some really funny moments. A definite treat to read.
This was a Cinderella type of story that focuses on Prince Kian, who very much enjoyed living the playboy type of lifestyle. This is all until he meets a waitress he can't get enough of...but what happens when your brother, the heir to the throne, goes missing?
This book just wasn't for me. I struggled to get through it. Though the story moved along well enough, I personally, didn't connect enough with the heroine (Savvy). There were also a few other little details that I just didn't love.
A little predictable and more graphic than normal so not for the prudish or faint of heart. Its a fun story and a good holiday read.
A quick easy read about Prince Kian and Savvy. They have an instant attraction that quickly becomes love. They overcome the obstacles in their way and get a HEA.
I read this one a while ago, and did a reread before writing this. I have to say, it was just as sweet the second time around. I love the commoner to royalty trope, like, seriously love it.
Savvy is a commoner who fell in love with not one, but two princes. The first was kind of a dick, but the second, His Royal Hotness, Prince Kian, just enjoyed using his. Their meet cure was hilarious, but perfect. Kian was the the playboy prince won over by Savvy.
Their relationship had a few rough patches, but Kian really was a good guy. I loved that he cared so much about Savvy, and I love where their relationship ended up. The dual points of view in this book were so well written I felt like I was there with each of the characters.
