Hot and Badgered is the honey badger story to fall in love with if you were still on the fence. Charlie is the oldest of the three MacKilligan honey badger(ish?) sisters followed by Max and Stevie. All of the sisters are unique in their quirks and neuroses, but Charlie's live takes an unexpected addition in the form of the Dunn triples. Britta, Dag, and Berg are the bears that everyone needs in their neighborhood, and Berg falls sweetly for Charlie as only a sweet bear does.
Non stop and action packed, the MacKilligan sisters bring light, joy, laughter and tears to this crazy world.
I couldn’t get into this one but others have enjoyed it and I will say it just might not have fit me. Enjoyed some of her other books.
One of the most entertaining books I've read in a long while - I'm definitely a huge Shelly Laurenston fan now and must proceed to devour her entire catalogue. She may just be a new go-to comfort read author for me.
5 out of 5 wine glasses.
I've been a fan of the Pride series since its very beginning. I've enjoyed all the stories and characters, so when I found it that the author was planning this spin-off with the Honey Badger sisters I couldn't wait to get my hands on it.
This book has everything I've come to expect from Shelly Laurenston books -- humor, action and intrigue. I enjoyed the sisters' antics, their bickering and most especially their loyalty to one another.
Charlie was an amazing character to read. She was a survivor and took her role as her sisters' protector seriously. So of course, when she finds out that her little sister is in danger, all bets are off -- even the cute grizzly that follows her around can't stand in her way.
And Berg was cute! He was the perfect partner for Charlie. He understood where she was coming from and knew how to comfort her when the stress became too much. He was also funny and sexy, which Charlie was oblivious to from time to time.
There is a lot going on in this story and although the romance between these two was awesome to read, it did feel like it took a backseat to everything that was happening around them. However, being as this is book 1 in a brand new series, I understood why it was done that way. In truth, I liked that the romance was slow burn, because I wouldn't have believed it otherwise.
I can't wait to read more about the MacKilligans sisters.
Book one in the Honey Badger Chronicles series another well written story by Shelly Laurenston. I really have to look at my bookshelves more, this was in the pile on my nightstand. I see there are now more in this series which I will be buying. This book had me laughing from the start. It’s not every day that a beautiful naked woman falls out of the sky and lands face-first on grizzly shifter Berg Dunn’s hotel balcony. Definitely they don’t usually hop up and demand his best gun. That is the way he meets honey badger shifter Charlie Taylor-MacKilligan. I will say do not start reading this book at bedtime as I could not put it down.
I voluntarily read an Advance Review Copy of this book through Netgalley. This was only the first chapter but it was full of action and suspense.
ARC received for review...well just the first chapter
I wish I had been a little more through in my reading before requested this one. The chapter was great, but y'all know I have ebook pricing issues...almost $8 for an ebook...I can wait
Any time Shelly Laurenston puts out a new book I'm immediately excited for it, but this one I was even more excited then usual because this is a whole series about Honey Badgers!! My favourite characters from the other books are the Honey Badgers, they are completely batshit crazy and hilarious. And I could read 100 books about them. This series starts with Charlie, who's the oldest of 3 honey badger sisters, and Berg a 1000 pound grizzle shifter. We jump right into the action from page 1 and we don't slow down through the whole book. Its fast-pasted and engaging, pulling you in to the crazy family that is the MacKilligan's. Charlie and Berg were super cute, the build up was a little slow but once they got together it well worth the wait. Berg was a very chill character and he was definitely a good match for Charlie, he understood how her sisters would always be a huge part of her life and was okay with sharing her. Charlie was a badass and she very much stole the show for me. She is someone I would kill to have on my side in any situation cause she'd handle that shit no matter what it was.
This is a action packed, hilarious shifter romance that I can't recommend enough. The storyline is on going so although I wouldn't say this one ends on a cliffhanger there's still a lot of stuff to resolve with the next books. I don't know if Max or Stevie's book will be next but it doesn't matter because I can't wait to read either one, though I'm pretty sure Max and Stevie's guys are going to have to be a very interesting people to handle them lol
ARC provided by NetgGalley for an honest review.
Another great book from Shelly Laurenston. I’ve read other books by this author this one was just as good as those. I really enjoyed the story and the characters were well thought out.
I loved this book, it makes you just want to move into bear town and hang out to watch the drama. I can’t wait for more!
This was a sample of the book, only containing the first chapter, but what a start! Within the first pages just the initial meeting of the two main characters was during an attack scene. You also get an idea of four of the characters within. If you are a fan of this author, this definitely seems a perfect addition. I can’t wait to read the entire book!
**I voluntarily read and reviewed this book
Hot and Badgered is the first book in Shelly Laurenston’s Honey Badger series and I am so glad to see her return to her roots with the Badger series. I cant wait to read more from Ms. Laurenston in this series if they are all as funny as book 1.
In book 1, we are introduced to he MacKilligan sisters, Charlie, Max and Stevie, the sisters are hybrid shifters who each have different mothers/breeds but share the same criminal honey shifter dad. This is Charlie’s book and we get to know all about Charlie while also getting to know about her family and the dysfunction that rules it. Charlie is the oldest of her sisters and the one who is super protective over her sisters. We meet Berg, the bear who happens to be Charlie’s mate and how he steps in and helps Charlie in her times of need. Their love story is zany and so cute!! There are TONS of secondary characters that make appearances in this book, including fan favorites from the other series by the author and I cannot wait for the next book to see who else shows up. I hope we get Max’s story next because she is insanely funny as well as insane (smile). This is such a fun read, full of action, laughs and shifter fun.
My Rating: 4.7 stars *****
“I received an advanced copy of this book from the author at no cost to me."
The story of the honey badger and the bear, Charlie and Berg, is just so darn funny, well except for the being chased by killers thing. But really, this is a story that you want to read again and again. Berg is a big sexy hero who is a true protector and Charlie is feisty and fearless. Loved it.
When Charlie landed on Bergs balcony and he helped her he never thought he would see her again but sure enough he did and her crazy sisters too. Charlie, Max and Stevie share a bond they are half sisters and honey badgers of course each is mixed with another shifter which really makes the story interesting. When Charlie and Max try to check up on Stevie in the institution she checked herself in they won’t let them see her because someone in the institution is trying to kidnap her. Barely making it out of there the girls meet up with Bergs and his family who are a group of bears, Bergs is crazy attracted to Charlie but the situations that the girls get into are scary and funny but the underlying story here is that you would do anything for your family even if you have to kill.
Destined to be a hit with Shelly Laurenston fans, her books always keep me laughing. Who wouldn't want to be a super genius werebadger?
The Honey Badgers are BACK! I have been waiting to read more about the Honey Badgers and this book didn't disappoint. They're loud, crude, on the other side of the law, but they have their own code to follow and I loved them. This story centered around three sisters and their issues (what Honey Badger doesn't have issues) and how they deal with them. We do see some other characters from previous books (yay for the Jean-Louis Parker crew) but also new characters and their total bemusement with the badgers.
It was action-packed, total riot of a book. It set up the other characters and books and was a blast revisiting this world of Shelley Laurenston. I can't wait for the next one!
I wouldnt normally choose the Shifter genre, but Shelly Laurenston can be counted on to bring the humor along with the passion. Hot and Badgered is a great addition to my library and The Honey Badger Chronicles look to be a strong series. Ms. Laurenston struck a nice balance between story and series set up. The dialogue is absolutely witty, sharp and appropriate to the characters. The characters could have been a little more layered for my taste. I think they suffered from the need to also launch the series. Hot and Badgered is a sexy, funny, entertaining romp, and I look forward to the next book from Ms. Laurenston (they are always too far apart!).
So as with all of my reviews for this author's work, I have to preface everything I’m about to say with the fact that if you are looking for something even remotely normal—be it characters, writing style, or plotline—I recommend you look elsewhere. Shelly Laurenston is an amazing author, but her sense of humor is a little bit off and if you aren’t ready to deal with that, jump ship right now…
Now, with that being done, I will share that this new spin-off series kicks off with some seriously hilarious moments and sexy as all get out characters kicking ass. I loved every single second of this story despite the fact that these characters are even more odd than in previous series. There is a continuation from her previous shifters series with many characters and places carrying over, but some fun new people as well. I loved getting to know the honey badger family dynamic a bit more, beyond having just met Livy in previous novels. Charlie and Berg were hilarious together, neither of them really understanding one another, but Berg’s protectiveness toward her was beyond sweet and seeing them working together to solve their families' issues was entertaining. I loved Berg and wish I could find one just like him to make my very own. He was a serious badass in one moment, but in the next his brain would lead him to a more strategic fix and he’d actually use his mind instead of his body or muscles to get his way. Charlie on the other hand has been leading her little family out of the trouble they get into for decades already and knows just what needs doing, even if she resists having to do it sometimes. I enjoyed seeing her plotting mind moving chess pieces until she was able to call checkmate on her opponents and the game was over. In the end Berg and Charlie realized they work best together and despite the craziness that would become their lives, a mating between a honey badger and a grizzly was just what the doctor prescribed. I am looking forward to what comes next.
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest
I love, love the MacKilligan sisters.
They crack me up.
Stevie is totally Kyle # 2. That is why they get along so well.
( They do not understand their geniuses! )
Max is Olivia # 2. However, Olivia will definitely claw me for saying that.
Charlie, sweet Charlie, until you threaten her sisters. Then watch out!
( Just ask Dee Ann )
I hope that Max + Stevie get their own books.
I can't wait to meet their mates.
I loved the storytelling + the characters
The storytelling + the character's build were awesome!

New to reading paranormal & thought I would try this read ...
Hot cover - but I found this book confusing a number of characters kept being introduced found it hard to keep them all straight ..,
I think the storyline would have flowed better had it concentrated on just a few of the main characters ...
It was however neat & could relate to having some of the characters super strengths / powers 👍
I would still be inclined to give another paranormal read a try ..,,
