It's the average Christian book. There are bits in it that are useful and make sense even for a person who's been a Christian for a long time. However, I am not sure I agree with everything this book has to offer. At times the truth it so badly wanted to offer was diluted. It is very Christian pop culture-y in my opinion. Not bad, just not the best.

This book is so good. I love the Bible story of David and Goliath. His analogy of our giant being already dead and conquered is a great illustration that I can recall fairly quickly. He reminds us that it is dead, but just as a snake illustration he shares with us--the snake may be dead, but the head can still dangerous. I love how he incorporates the Word of God into this book. It is the Word of God that changes, and he often references scripture throughout the pages. I greatly appreciate the stories he shares too. They are both memorable and relatable.

The way Giglio unfolds and uses this well known passage in Scripture is simply enlightening. I have read the story of David and Goliath many times, and I now see it with newness.

I have to admit in each chapter there is a lot to take in-- Louie Giglio dedicates chapters to each of the giants. This is a book I definitely have to set aside time for. Each chapter causes me to think and really have a hard look at what's going on inside. I have to set out time for reading just one chapter--they are pretty lengthy and there is so much to glean!

In the Chapter dealing with Anger, he hits home on different points that I can relate to in my own life. As in each of the other giants, Giglio always goes back to replacing our initial responses with biblical truth and scriptures. He calls for us to remember that this giant, this sin, is cut down and dead. We are forgiven. Then he continues to share simple principles that we can equip ourselves for changing the way we think and respond.

It took a while for me to get into this book honestly, but after getting through I really appreciated how he teaches and goes about this book. It is logical and stays right in line with the Bible.

I always enjoyed listening to little snippets from Louie Giglio on the radio so I was excited to read a book by him! My biggest giant is fear and this book helped me face it head on by teaching me keep my eyes on Jesus and not the giant. One of my favorite quotes from the movie One Night with the King is "David's victory came not because he fought well but because he believed well".

Louie Giglio is the pastor of Passion City Church and the founder of the Passion Movement. This is the first book I have read by the author and probably won’t be the last.

In this book, Giglio’s focus is strongholds. He refers to strongholds such as fear, rejection, anger, and addiction as giants. Whole chapters are dedicated to these giants and the many forms they can take.

The book revolves around the story of David and Goliath. The author retells the story with Goliath metaphorically being our strongholds and David being Jesus. David killing Goliath is compared to the finished work of Jesus on the Cross, which is the only solution for any giant. I highly recommend this book.

I enjoyed this twist on the story of David and Goliath. Louie Giglio brings up several "Goliaths" in our lives that might hold us back - but thanks to the cross, our Goliaths have already fallen! Thankful for this truth!

I am a HUGE fan of this book. I read this book as I did the Bible study and watched the corresponding videos. This book has definitely opened my eyes to a lot in my life as far as depression, fear, anger and rejection. I've learned about David and Goliath before as a child and understood parts of it, but reading this book I have found a whole new meaning to not just the story but the correlation of it to Jesus since the story was told during the Old Testament. I recommend this book and the study guide. Will change your life for the better.

Goliath Must Fall is the latest book from preacher Louie Giglio, the man behind the Passion Movement, comprised of Passion Conferences, Passion City Church, Passion Publishing, and sixstepsrecords, and the founder of Passion Global Institute.  If you're not familiar with the Passion movement, it's a gathering for the college-aged kids to help them to live in such a way that their journey on earth counts for what is most important in the end.

In Goliath Must Fall, Giglio uses the story of David, a mere shepherd, who takes a stand against insurmountable odds after the giant Goliath insults David's God.  David stands up and challenges Goliath after King Saul and his troops listen to Goliath's taunts for a full 40 days.  And he does so without the protection of armor or an army.

Many of us have been taught that we are David and we can defeat our Goliaths but that's just wrong.  Our Goliaths have been defeated on the cross.  That makes our David Jesus.

Giglio goes on to show how we can live a life of victory over our giants.  I really, really enjoyed this book.  I wish that I had read Goliath Must Fall much earlier in my Christian walk.  The book is an easy read and would be good for those in high school and older who are learning about how to live a victorious Christian life and how to increase their faith.  I highly recommend it.

God wants us to live free from the demoralizing voice of that giant, and because God wants to get glory in our lives by showing the world that he is greater than everything we face in our lives, then that giant's got to go down.

What are the giants in your life that keep your from living life freely? Can you identify them? In the passion that is known of Louie Giglio, he is passionate about Christians living life freely to give God glory. Another words, without this freedom from our giants, we are unable to give glory to God in our lives. The table of contents will give you an ideal of the adventure that awaits you.

Bigger than Your Giant
Dead but Still Deadly
Fear Must Fall
Rejection Must Fall
Comfort Must Fall
Anger Must Fall
Addiction Must Fall
A Table in the Presence
Fuel for the Fight

Giglio has taken the story of David - well known for his fight for Goliath in how the giants in our life must go down. David is not just another story but an example of Christ. Giglio has also stresses that this is not just another self-help book but one that identifies the giants we may be blinded too. It is here that I am wary because if it quacks like a duck, it is a duck. The trouble of any self-help book is that we focus on what we need to do and be instead of who God is and what he has created us for. His glory. The self-help can lead us to tread mill of doing instead of the glory of salvation.

Is this helpful? I believe it can help in identifying our giants. We may not think we have a problem with anger but anger comes in many forms and the roots run deep. It is our motivation that is telling. I think Giglio identifies this well.

Our giants can be the cause of stress, anxiety, and depression which in these cases, we need others to walk us thru it. This book is a great start for that journey not only being free but in that freedom living for God.

A Special Thank You to Thomas Nelson and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

I absolutely loved this book. My giant, if you will, has been anxiety. This book gave me everything that I need to face my giant with confidence, and to trust in the One who will help me conquer it. I adore the way that Louie Giglio writes, and seriously cannot recommend him enough! Everyone needs to read this book. Absolutely everyone.

We all have a mountain in front of us that we aren't sure we can conquer. We think that the answer to the conquering is in our actions, and while that is somewhat true, it's not the key. The key to conquering that mountain is in our mindsets!

David fell Goliath because he had a specific mindset, he had belief about God and who God showed Himself to be. We are capable of attaining that same mindset, the mindset of an overcomer, of a conqueror and this book is an excellent tool to achieving just that!

We all face giants and we constantly are wanting advice on how to fight them. Well, this book is that resource. As Louie addresses many "giants" we face in life, he also gives us some great biblical wisdom on how to fight them, pointing us directly to the fact that we have Jesus in our lives fighting for us. Once I started this book I couldn't put it down. I love David. I love Louie. Putting those two together makes for a great read and great insight.

Goliath Must Fall was a book I really enjoyed. I felt like it was a encouraging, informative while it held my attention . In the book, I felt like Lou gave great strategies that could be used by anyone and he also was transparent which was great especially in light of the subject manner. Awesome read.

I really enjoyed the level at which the author sets forth to show that the giants (those areas in life seeking to hold back your Christian growth and retard your joy) must fall in order for a Christian to live a full life. He then sets forth how to see giants fall in your life.

In his book, Giglio takes the story of David and Goliath and analyzes it deeply. He takes this short passage from the Bible and gives insight to what happened that day, and how, we, as believers can take this story and make it applicable to our lives daily. Instead of approaching this story from a perspective of 'we' are Goliath, he instead says that we should look at this story as Jesus being David.

This concept, at first, took a while for me to wrap my head around. By the end of the book, I appreciated this perspective and found it to be the better way of looking at these events. David did all that he did for the glory of God. Throughout the book, I was constantly pointed back to God and His goodness. He has already killed my giants, and he did that the day he died on the cross.

Giglio then goes on to explore the different giants that may be present in someone's lives. He breaks each giant down into the ways they may be affecting someone. He then presents solutions on how to start removing this giant from your life. On every page, I was turned back to Jesus, and how I can use him to help me move past the giants that He has already defeated.

I enjoyed the deep exploration of this encounter. His book challenges me to confront my own giants. I intend to take what I learned and apply it to helping me search for Jesus first and only Jesus. He wraps up by challenging the reader to read Psalm 23 for forty days and nights. This is a challenge I am going to try to pursue.

I think that I started this book in a similar fashion to others that picked up this title, and that is with the idea that there is a giant in my life--how do I make it fall? Ultimately, Louie expresses over and over throughout this title that focusing on Christ is how the giants of our lives will fall. And, really, he reminds us that it isn't us who makes them fall but Him.

After starting the book I began to shift my question from how do I stop the giant to who/what are my giants? Fear, control, anger... a lot of things. Not know who I am. Louie goes chapter by chapter explaining what some of giants in our lives might be, what they look like played out in our lives and how to let them go.

I appreciated the opportunity to read this book. I think it is a book that I will be coming back to from time to time as a reminder and refresher. I want to cut the giant's head off but sometimes I wonder if I might have just imagined their fall.
