Thankfully I read previous books in the series so i understood the backstory and who the other characters were. A pretty good book for someone wanting to read a quick romance book.
This was not the book for me. I may not have been in the mood but I found it kind of boring and couldn't move past the 2nd chapter.
*3.5 stars*
Intense, romantic suspense….
Oh man, did this story have a lot going on! If you haven’t read the first stories in this series I definitely recommend it. I started here and, honestly, was lost at first as I tried to figure out who everyone was and what got them to this time and place. Once I got a handle on things that allowed the intense action and drama to take over…
Bram and Jaelyn’s relationship was complicated by family and allegiance to career and country. Working through that windy web was made more suspenseful by danger that threatened their future together as well as their lives. Along the way, discoveries and actions allowed the lovers to grow as individuals and as a committed couple. Was it easy? Oh no, entirely the opposite, which made it that much sweeter on the other side…
The story was told from a number of different characters points of view and I found it chopped the flow as I tried to keep up with who was saying, and doing, what. Despite that, it probably contributed to the breakneck speed of the plot as it all unfolded so quickly. A riveting first read of this author and I’m going to circle back to the beginning before being grabby of the next in the series…
A hardened military machine, Bram Magnus is a tough, combat-ready, all-American hero who never surrenders. But the one thing he can’t fight? His smoldering, intense attraction to his girlfriend’s younger sister. He’s always kept his feelings locked deeply down. But when his girlfriend betrays him the night before he ships off to Afghanistan, Bram has one chance to show the woman he’s resisted for years that he wants her as fiercely as the first day he saw her. Ever since her older sister first brought home the soldier with steely hard muscles and piercing eyes, Jaelyn has wanted Bram, and when her sister casts him aside the night before he leaves, Jaelyn can’t resist one steamy hot kiss with him. But danger is not far behind, and even as a deadly enemy hunts them, their relationship only grows more explosive. It’s all Bram can do to keep Jaelyn safe, but with a threat this powerful, will they pay the ultimate price for their passion?
This book was decent. I hadn't read the other books before I read this so at times I was really lost. There was a lot of action, which I appreciated. I had a little issue with Magnus literally jumping from one sister to the other, but then again he was getting shipped off, so there you go. I would like to read the series from the beginning and give this a re-read to see if my opinion approves.
Fun, sexy, sweet romance with some action! This is the 4th book in this series, and can be read as a standalone, but it features characters from past books and has some side storylines that continue from the previous books, so I figure it's better to start with the previous books for the full experience. Each book deals with a different couple, one part of the couple is part of a secret military group that does very dangerous missions that have a lot of dangerous people after them. The other part of the couple is usually dragged into the danger and drama that comes with being involved with a member of this secret group. This book focuses on Bram and Jaelyn, Bram is the military guy and Jaelyn is the one pulled into something she was unaware of. Bram actually had a friends with benefits thing with Jaelyn's sister, which I thought wasn't great; especially since Bram needed to get that situation taken care at a faster rate; before moving onto Jaelyn. The author does a good job of portraying the connection between Bram and Jaelyn though, so that softens the blow a bit. There's some sicko connected to Bram that ends up causing some major problems for Bram and Jaelyn, so Bram's team is called in for help. Jaelyn's a tough cookie! She really holds her own! I loved the chemistry, and deep connection between Bram and Jaelyn. The sex scenes are hot! There's also a bit of humor that I enjoy, and Jaelyn's grandfather giving the guy's advice was fun. I love all the military stuff, and the guys military alphaness! I don't really care for the bad guy POV's, and the transitions could use some work, but overall, the book is great.
I am normally a huge reader of military books especially with my hubby being in the military but for some reason I just couldn't connect with this book. It wasn't bad but it wasn't amazing either. I think one of by bigger issues with the book was the fact that Bram was with one sister and it seemed like he moved right on with the other sister. Even though he had been on a deployment it and sent letters its the not the same as face to face contact for them to even try to work it out. I wish I had liked this book better.
I love Dawn Ryder she never disappoints her style is unique and interesting.
I loved the characters and the plot as a whole. Would love to continue with the series.
Honestly, I am NOT a fan of heroes sleeping with sisters. Having a sister, I find the idea distasteful and even disgusting. This is really the only aspect of the story which I didn’t like. Having said that, I am a huge fan of Dawn Ryder’s “Unbroken Heroes” series and the heroic and outrageously sexy shadow ops agents. Bram Magnus has always intrigued me. Not only because of his take no s**t attitude, but who isn’t intrigued by a man who has a name that sounds like a Roman general?
The day before Bram is set to be shipped to Afghanistan he discovers that his girlfriend is cheating on him. He isn’t surprised or really upset by this betrayal. His girlfriend’s sister is the one who he has always wanted but never thought would give him a second glance. With one scorching kiss to send him off, he has nothing more than that memory and the hope that Jaelyn will give him a chance upon his return. But it seems that there is more than just his ex-girlfriend who is between them when a psychopath wants Jaelyn all to himself and is willing to do anything to make her his pet.
Jaelyn has always admired Bram. Not only for his looks but also for his commitment to his job and his integrity. And even though she is ashamed to be listing after her sister’s boyfriend, she just can’t deny her attraction to him or that he is the perfect man for her. But it seems that his undercover work has led danger right to her door.
Another great addition to this highly exciting and addictive series. This may be a series, but have no fear if you have missed the previous books because it will in no way keep you from enjoying this book. Can’t wait to see who will be the next shadow op agent to settle down and find love!!!
Take to the Limit is the fourth book in the Unbroken Heroes series by Dawn Ryder. I have read one other book in the series, and think that each book stands well on its own.

Take to the Limit is a tangled romance with family and danger throwing up obstacles for Bram and Jaelyn at every turn. I liked both characters, and I liked them as a couple. The twists and turns their relationship takes is engaging, and I like the honesty Bram offers about his mistakes, faults, and feelings to those that are important to him. I found the family aspects of the story to be done well, and the complications to be done well. Jaelyn's grandfather was a great character and one of my favorite secondary characters. I found the big bad behind the danger aspect to be a little much, that aspect of the story seemed to be a little too convoluted and the clean up at the end to be a little too neat and tidy. It all works, but it just did not sit well with me. Readers that have been following the series will enjoy the continued storyline with some characters, and some of the danger involved. Newcomers will not be left behind, as the important bits are explained briefly but well.
Take to the Limit is a book that I started a couple times, but once I stuck with past the first few scenes did enjoy. This is not my favorite book, or series, from the author so it was a little bit of a let down for me. However, it is still a good read.
ARC received for review
This one was a little disjointed and not a smooth as the previous three. Bram got his HEA but not with who I thought it was going to be. Jaelyn was great and not a pushover. Grandad was a hoot, and I loved how he keep showing Bram and the other boys secrets.
Another good story in this enticing romantic suspense series. This time we have Bram finally dealing with his attraction to Jaelyn. A few years back, he dated her high-maintenance sister. She doesn't know that Bram broke up with Leah before he deployed because he found out about her cheating on him. And Bram is one hot alpha male. Lucky Jaelyn!

This is the first book by Dawn I have read and I was hooked right from the start. This is the forth book in the series however they can all be read as standalone books. Bram Magnus has just finished another tour. He has been dating a girl on and off for a while. He has always had a connected with the little sister of the girl he was seeing on and off. Before he left on this last tour something happened. He caught his girl with someone else. In a moment Bram kisses Jaelyn, the younger sister. While he knows he shouldn’t have done it he can’t get that kiss out of his head while he is deployed. Once he comes home he is determined to make Jaelyn his. Jaelyn feels the same way about Bram as he does about her. Things aren’t going to be easy though. Everything seems to be against them. Family, work, and so much more. Then someone takes Jaelyn and Bram and his team must figure out who it is and get her back. Jaelyn has been living with guilt over kissing Bram. Taking your sister’s boyfriend isn’t the greatest thing a sister can do. Bram has been working with a Shadow Ops team. Will the team be able to help Bram find and rescue Jaelyn? Could his work with the team be what brought this danger to Jaelyn’s door? I was hooked on the book right from the beginning. I love Bram. This book has intrigue, danger, mystery and more. I have already put books 1-3 in this series on my TBR list and I can’t wait to read them. I can’t say enough about this book and the characters in it.
I was given this book in return for an honest review.
DNF - i was unable to finished this book. It just didnt hold my interest.
Auto read author, Ms. Ryder pens another angsty romance with suspense and sensual tension. I realize this series is called unbroken heroes. They may not be broken but they sure are damaged. In this one, Bram Magnus is mixed because he loved his hawt girlfriend, only to be heartbroken when she cheats on him. LeAnn is about as shallow as one can imagine. Trading on her looks, she is a good for nothing slut. She's the type of person who will take her toys, break them and then toss them aside. The second someone expresses a bit of interest in her broken unwanted toy, she will snatch it back just out of spite. LeAnn is a disgusting excuse of a human being and worst as a sister. They way she treats Jaelyn is shameful. What kind of a sister does this kind of crap?
I loathed LeAnn but she was good for something - as accidental bait. The story isn't about that ungrateful harlot, it is about how Bram an Jaelyn fight their attraction for each other. Usually, I'm not into stories where siblings are involved with the same lover. Primarily because I feel that one of the siblings will be a total jerk about it. And, I'm right. LeAnn is a bloody beyotch about it and pulls dirty tricks. Still, the attraction between Bram and Jaelyn is too strong. Jaelyn is the responsible sister. She may not look at hawt as her sister, but that doesn't mean she isn't pretty and that she's boring. She is far from boring. She is a woman of substance and caring. She still loves her sister despite the horrible things LeAnn has done. Jaelyn also takes care of her frail grandfather whose been there for her and her sister.
This story is fun because there are misconceptions that led to interesting scenarios. Some of it is humorous as Jaelyn's grandfather's past comes to light. There is a real sense of family in this story which I love. Even LeAnn does turn herself around and is redeemable. Bram and Jaelyn's relationship seems to be on a constant path of being interrupted. It is as if fate is trying to keep them apart. Still, when they are together, the sparks fly as their chemistry is so good. Ms. Ryder does an excellent job of creating chemistry between her characters. I like the way she makes them long for each other and have to work to finally get what they want.
From a plot perspective, there are a couple of plot devices that were obvious from the beginning. This is because Ms. Ryder does switch to different points of view. It worked out well in this case and helped set up conflict. This romantic suspense is recommended to all romance readers.
I have chosen not to review this title. I appreciate the opportunity and look forward to the next title.
Thanks,

I voluntarily read an advanced reviewers copy of this book
I waited and waited for this book wand was very happy to finally get my hands on it. I think this addition to the series was great because you get to know more about Bram and you get to know more about the previous couples from the series. Overall not a bad book, I cant wait to see what else this series has in store.
TAKE TO THE LIMIT is action-packed, steamy and intense! There is so much happening I am not sure where to start. Bram Magnus has a particular mindset that only Jaelyn can twist, but his fear for her safety always has him pulling back. I guess you can say he is flawed but in a good way; he is thinking of the woman he loves safety, but he is forgetting that she just might have other ideas about what she wants in her life. There are a number of misunderstandings that are handled with realistic twists. I loved where he finally decided that she was more important than being in the ops team. That isn't giving any kind of spoiler because you really have to see what he goes through to get there. I started laughing when Jaelyn finally takes things into her own hands, forcing the issue in such a way that I think will have the readers silently, and not so silently cheering. The secondary characters are varied and, except for the bad guys, are all likable, mysterious, sneaky and snarky. The bad guys are definitely ones you never want to meet in any circumstance.
If you want a love that holds on (despite the hero's best attempts), bad guys to beat, action of the weapon kind and the steamy kind, laughter and camaraderie then TAKE TO THE LIMIT is what you need.

Sooooo! I've been in a bit of a slump lately. Books don't offer the same escape they once did. I'm sure it's me because even my favorite mainstay authors are making me feel edgy and unsatisfied. I stopped and started this book so many times I'm not even sure if I recall exactly how it all played out but ..............
Bram Magnus has always lived a life in the shadows. Son to a shadow warrior he grew up to become one on his own. He is seduced by the sense of home he feels with Jaelyn and her family so he promptly picks her flirty older sister to date. However when LeAnn cheats on Bram right before he ships out for Afghanistan, Jaelyn can't resist the burning hot kisses Bram bestows upon her.
Bram and his team have enemies in high places determined to bring the team down. The story starts out confusingly enough with one in a Mexican prison as the story opens, another one Bram picks up in Afghanistan and then yet another one who's found a place with a lot of political clout. Confusing Much? Then we have Bram on a guilt trip when his enemies pick up on the fact that he cares about Jaelyn more than he cares about LeAnn and kidnap Jaelyn. Fortunately for Jaelyn Bram and his team rescue her, unfortunately for them he plays right into his enemies hand by whisking her into a secret location which is what his enemies want him to do.
I felt the trope of the BDSM slave a little overdone with Jaelyn's kidnapper setting her up to be a sexual slave but she's a bright girl who manages to hold on for a rescue. Then Bram's 180 where he in turn becomes a sexual dominant with Jaelyn when he has her safe and buried in a top secret location. The surprises don't stop. Jaelyn's grandfather it seems has a secret past and has played his own share of cloak and dagger games.
My head just kept spinning with the surprises and trust me they don't end since the last chapter in the book will wake you up and leave you in suspense waiting for the next shoe to drop which you'll have to wait for. There's a lot of action both secret spy stuff and between the sheets so this book might be a great cup of tea for some readers while it just did not quite do it for me.

4.5 Special Ops Badass Stars from me xx
This was a tricky situation read.....Okay here we go.
Bram our leading guy is having a little buddy/buddy thing with Jaelyn his girlfriends little sister. Yep, see what I mean....tricky !!.
Anyhow, Bram and LeAnn's relationship ends abruptly and then Bram's mind has one focus = project I want Jaelyn, so lets make it happen !!.
For me, the whole having a relationship with two sisters was not my first choice for a read but Dawn really made this tangled, taboo, web of lust, need and love work.
Overall a great read, full of suspense, romance and angst.....check, check, check.
Well done Dawn x
Later Peeps xx
Bram found the one he always wanted to be with. Meeting Jaelyn kept his, hope alive they would be together again while he served in war torn countries. Their chemistry would not be denied and he would do everything to protect her when his past comes haunting back. Raw and gritty! Non stop action.
