The Scandalous Flirt by Olivia Drake is an amazing, well-written book. Ms Drake has furnished her story with phenomenal characters. The characters made this book a joy to read. Lucas and Rory's story is full of drama, suspense, adventure and sizzle. Be warned though, the housework may be put on hold. Once you start this book you may not want to put it down. I enjoyed this book from start to finish and look forward to reading more from Olivia Drake in the future. The Scandalous Flirt is book 6 of the Cinderella Sisterhood Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy of this book that I received from NetGalley.

Usually I am wary at picking up a book that is in the middle of a series that I have not read before. I always fear that I will feel lost and not know what is going on. Luckily that was not the case with this book as I did not feel lost or that I was missing anything.

In the beginning I definitely liked Rory way more than I liked Lucas. While they both had their struggles, (Rory being banished from London after a scandal with a lover and Lucas dealing with debts) Rory seemed to have grown more and become stronger than Lucas. Lucas was just a plain jerk in the beginning and I feared that he would be like that throughout the book. Luckily the more that I read the more I began to like him.

I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed this book. I did enjoy that this was not dominated with steamy scenes but instead you really got to know the characters. Don't get me wrong there were some great steamy moments between Rory and Lucas.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the galley.

A different twist on Cinderella.
Aurora Paxton made an error in judgment and paid dearly for it. Her stepmother's servant caught her in a private compromising position and made sure everyone knew about it......but there were forces at work that she had no idea about. She was sent away to an aunt's home, but Aurora made the best of the situation and made sure she did all she could for her Aunt Bernice.
Clarissa Milford noticed many things and noted things were off with Aurora's stepmother...and that brought Aurora to her mind. Ms. Milford meddled to bring Aurora home to ostensibly help solve her stepmother's problem, but it really was to give her a chance to find a suitor.
The tale contains greedy callous people, troubled characters, some sweet and innocent, hard working and honest ..in short a mix of characters that add life to her version of this old tale.
I asked for and was granted an ARC to peruse.

This "romance" was about a young lady trying to find out who had stolen from her step mother. She met people along the way and possibly fell in love too. The book never stopped and there was never a dull moment, unfortunately the romance itself was very poor.
There wasn't much in terms of romance and deeper feelings. The heroine was terribly shallow and had a big mouth which I think is just a bad combo.
The hero too was as deep as a puddle... how the heroine fell in love with him is yet another mystery.
I'm glad I was able to get an early copy but I don't think I'll read more of this series. I remember enjoying this author in the past so maybe I'll try her again.

The Scandalous Flirt is a fairly run-of-the-mill historical romance. A mysterious and hunky hero, a slightly scandalous and swooning heroine, and a touch of a meddling older gentlewoman.

Aurora (Rory) Paxton returns to London after a years-long exile upon discovering her self-absorbed stepmother is being blackmailed and her darling half-sister is engaged to a man almost twice her age. Lucas, the cold and rude Marquess of Dashell, has known Rory for years and continually scorns her. However, she finds herself falling in love - and falling deeper into the blackmailer's plot - in this novel.

I have read several historical romances by this point, and I wasn't particularly enthused by either the hero or heroine. Rory seemed spirited enough as the plot suggested and it seemed improbable that she would fall for Lucas who was genuinely awful sometimes. The book is a quick read and good enough if you're looking for a quick romance fix, but it's not particularly memorable or intriguing.

Thanks to the publisher for an ARC in exchange for a fair review.

Absolutely loved this story. The heroine is strong and intelligent. Even through her downfall, she persevered. She is beyond loyal, willing to help a woman who had her exiled. The hero, a determined, stone faced man with a heart of pure gd. A man who loves his mother and brother so much he's willing to sacrifice his own happiness. The plot is one i havent read in a while and it was a great change. Matchmaker, stolen letters, blackmailers, a fall from grace, and so much definitely keeps the reader entertained and captivated. The secondary characters are a perfect mix of elegance and excitement . The villains are descriptive, unlikable and down right conniving. The is also a secondary story here as well. It's not overbearing or intrusive. It works in well with the main story line and helps bring every thing together in a neat little knot. I truly enjoyed every aspect of this story and look forward to reading many more by Ms. Drake.

Oh how i love brooding/arrogant heroes and sassy/independent heroines.. They are so much fun to read rather than those supposed rakes and naive/innocent witless heroines! I got what i wanted in this book..

Rory Paxton and Lucas Vale were the perfect couple for me as they are both intelligent, they knew what they wanted and were determined to get it no matter what it takes.. Rory needed to help her stepmother who was being blackmailed and Lucas needed to wed an heiress stat to help pay off the gambling debts of his deceased father..

The buildup of the couple's romance is a little bit slow as they were too focused on finding out who was blackmailing Rory's stepmom.. I almost thought for a second there that this was going to turn out to be a "clean romance" despite the sexual tension between the couple.. I finally found them in bed together but this came almost towards the end of the book but hey! i'm not complaining! It's a good book- perfect for when you're out by the pool sunning yourself...

I have love Olivia Drake's Cinderella Sisterhood books since the beginning. I love her writing style. The story is about Aurora Paxton, who was once the belle of the ball. Rory was banished to live in the country. Now she's been summoned to go back to London on her stepmother's orders because she is being blackmailed by Lucas Vale, Marquess of Dashell. Lucas has his reasons. I hope you will read the book and enjoy it as much as I did.

This is an engaging story of two people, Lord Lukas and Lady Aurora, or 'Rory', who met several years before as younger people but are now thrown together by a series of unexpected events. Rory has been out of society as a result of a past incident, and Lukas is attempting to keep his family's legacy afloat by marrying well. Throw in some truly entertaining characters, an intriguing plot, and plenty of heat between the Lukas and Rory, and this book was thoroughly entertaining. I highly recommend this to readers who enjoy some mystery and passion with their HEA.

I've only read a couple of historical reads but the blurb on this had me intrigued.

It was novel for me, to read this type of book. I found myself reading in my head in an posh English voice! It was evil and scandalous in an innocent sort of way!

But alas it was not for me. I didn't particularly gel to Aurora or Lucas and the romance fell a bit flat for me.

I can't say I won't ever read another story from this era again or this author as I probably would as I enjoy variety in my reads.

3 Stars! I liked this book. It didn't really have any "fairytale" magic in it though which is what I was expecting. Lucas, the hero of the book, was a cold, stone faced jerk! Supposedly he has loved Aurora since her season but he forgot all about her when she was banished for eight years?! (And why didn't one of the men who claimed they loved Rory step up and marry her so she wouldn't be banished?) Lucas was continuously rude to Rory, so I don't see how she could fall in love with him. The book did have a few good surprises in it & I really loved the ending surprise! Still, for a romance, there wasn't a whole lot of romance in it. I was a little annoyed with all the 'big words' that I had to look up the definitions for. Now, I'm not stupid but I started to feel stupid when I had to stop reading to look up a definition so I could completely understand the scene. I was angry on Rory's behalf-banished & cut off from her family like she was, that was so unfair! That's just a major case of "slut-shaming"! I hated Stefano & wish he would've gotten in as much trouble as Rory but since he's a man, he just went on with his life-talk about a double standard! I'm glad I live in modern times & that women have equal rights & we can be almost as "loose" as the men & we only get a fraction of the censure as women did in the 1800's! (We still have a ways to go but it's getting there!) For the most part, I enjoyed reading this book.

This was such a good book it was a pleasure to read! The characters were very realistic and seemed so opposite in personality that I think they brought out the best in each other! Rory was very brave and strong for the times even though scandal had ruined her she made peace with it to an extent! And Lucas was just a serious seemingly stuck up prig! What he really needed was someone to bring out his softer side! And throw in a good mystery you have a best seller! I would definitely recommend this to everyone!

I liked this book, it's a bit of a grown up fairy tale. But though I enjoyed it, I don't know why it had the fairy tale format, other than as a gimmick, nothing in the story seems to be relevant to the magic slippers, and the woman who provided them really played a minimal role in the story. The story was well written and interesting, and the H and h were likeable, and had great chemistry. (Though he was a bit of an ass in the beginning!). Nonetheless, he redeemed himself. Recommend for a fun read.

Terrific story. I felt for Rory being shunned for 8 years! I was angry at Lucas for caring so much about her past and his finances ! Lucas's mother and Rory's aunt Bernice were too funny! I enjoyed their scenes together! Great read !

This book was really good and I enjoyed it but it was very different than I imagined from reading the description. It was very suspensful as the two main characters are trying to find a blackmailer throughout the story. I also thought that the ending and the way everything worked out was a little too easily. But I did really enjoy the story.

The two stars of this book is Rory and Lucas. Rory has been banished for 8 years to the country when she is brought back to town by her stepmother because the step had an affair with Lucas father several years before and their love letters were stolen.

Lucas is broke and he feels he has to marry for money. Throughout the book until the very end he keeps saying he has to marry for money and while he never gets engaged, everyone knows he is wanting to marry this heiress.

Anyways so Rory in trying to find the letters, ends up as a companion to Lucas' mother. He never brings her out to society, she just accompanies his mother as the companion. Meanwhile her and Lucas have many adventures as they search for the letters.

This was well written, with an interesting plot and characters I enjoyed. It was a fun historical.
