Hot, hot, hot! Calista has the steam full blast in this book! Great story!
Scarlet was not a person to let a question go unanswered. She was desperate to find out what happened to her clients insurance claim. Would the missing paintings ever be recovered. As a way to find her answers she meets Michael and Sam. Each brother captivated her and she fell prisoner to her desires. She was always willing to take chances, her adventurous behavior and inquisitive nature will give her everything she wants. Wickedly hot!
The Billionaires: The Stepbrothers is book three in the Lover’s Triangle series by Calista Fox. I read and loved the second book in this series so couldn’t wait for this one and I was not disappointed. I definitely need to go back and read the first book in the series. This book has a little bit of everything, red hot sexy times, some sigh worthy sweet times, and a mystery to solve which includes some suspenseful times.
We met Scarlet Drake who is best friends with Jewel and Bayli from the two previous books. Scarlet is an insurance fraud investigator and has been trying to investigate stolen artwork from the Vandenberg estate. An eighteen million dollar check was paid for the theft of the paintings and the insurance company wants one more chance at making sure that the robbery was legitimate and not an insurance scam.
When Scarlet takes a job, she takes it seriously and doesn’t leave any avenue unchecked. At the top of her suspect list are the two step brothers, Michael Vandenberg, and Sam Reed, who both have large sums of money that showed up in their bank accounts around the time of the robbery. Michael has been very elusive but she has finally cornered him. What she didn’t prepare for was the immediate electrical attraction between them.
Michael Vandenberg is otherwise known as the Wolf of Wall Street. He has no time for emotional connections but when Scarlet appeared in front of him, all he could think about was how much he wanted her. And he would have her. He knows something is there between them and without fully understanding what it is, is willing to explore it.
“This woman was a drug, and he was instantly addicted.”
When Scarlet accepts that Michael is innocent, next on the list is Sam. Sam runs a horse ranch in Montana. This man will definitely melt your heart. Sam lost his fiancé and unborn child in a car accident and has never recovered from the loss. He has no interest in connecting emotionally with any woman. This man saves abandoned and abused puppies from the side of the road for crying out loud. I swooned over him. When Scarlet comes into his life, though, just like Michael, he is bowled over by the attraction.
Michael and Sam have a history of sharing women and it doesn’t take long before they decide that they would like to share this experience with Scarlet. Scarlet has watched her two best friends flourish in their triad relationships and is completely open to the idea for herself. She also wants to explore this emotional connection she is feeling with both men. But, even though she believes both men are innocent of any involvement in the disappearance of the artwork, their family is still suspect. Does she dare move forward with this relationship before her investigation is complete?
As I said, though, Scarlet is like a dog with a bone when she is on a case. And she uncovers some facts that perhaps should have been left alone. Now she has to further torment this family by uncovering secrets long buried. Will Sam ever forgive her for what she is about to do?
This was a sweet story of an attraction that took all three of these people by surprise. Scarlet is one tough cookie but has a soft side as well. I do admit that she was a bit brash or forward at times and for me, this can sometimes be a little off putting. She was right on the border, though, so it didn’t turn me off completely. And the case she was working on kept me guessing right up to the end.
If I had one complaint, it’s that I wanted a little more from the epilogue. I wanted to know how they were making it work geographically since all three of them reside in different places. I did really enjoy this book, though and definitely need to go back and read the first book that I missed.
Just like book 2 in the series, The Bosses, and the 1st, The Billionaires, this is a MFM menage. The story has a similar thread through them all since the girls are all friends. They each land themselves into a menage situation and can we say yum?
Calista Fox created a delicious story that will rev up your engines! The guys are stepbrothers and have similar taste in women and enjoy the double pleasure. What woman could resist that? While there are a few hot ass scenes in here, there is also MF action too and plenty of heated anticipation. However, most of the story revolves around Scarlet and the mystery she is trying to solve.
This one disappointed me in a few places because the ending was somewhat of a let down to me. After all is said and done, this could have had a fabulous HEA, but it fell flat to me. Another annoyance was the fact that Scarlet seemed to press for most of the connection between the guys although they were not complaining! LOL I just prefer the man chase more, I guess.
This book can be read as a standalone, but you will get more out of it if you read the series as a few characters overlap. I always enjoy the author writing. Always a steamy read with hot men that you want to take home for yourself!
3.75☆
This was a good story that as it progressed did draw me in. Especially in the latter stages with the couple of twists that occurred. However I did find it very hard to get into and apart from the romance, which I really enjoyed. Everything else just fell flat for me. Yet I'm sure anyone who is a fan of this author or has enjoyed the two previous Lovers Triangle books will enjoy it.
The Billionaires: The Stepbrothers by Calista Fox is the story of Scarlet Drake, Michael Vandenberg and Sam Reed. Scarlet is looking to solve a mystery containing a art disappearance. Which leads her to Michael and Sam who may have information about its disappearance. But what they are finding is a stronger attraction between the three of them. This was another HOT and Sexy read from this author.
Sexy, smart and determined, Scarlet is going to figure out who stole the multimillion-dollar art collection before the time runs out. She knows there is something fishy about how the art collection disappeared. As an insurance fraud investigator, she is the best at her job and she doesn't leave a case unsolved. The problem with this one is, there are two men who block her at every step. Which one of them did this? Michael or his step brother Sam? Both received suspicious amounts of money during the same period. If she could only talk to them, she could rule them out as suspects or determine if they are guilty. It does not help that their father is even more bold in stopping all inquires from Scarlet.
Ms. Fox creates another delicious menage where the heat leaps off the pages. The chemistry between Scarlet and each of the brothers is hawt. Too bad they live in different worlds - rural, city and world traveler. How can they possible ever come together? Where could they be together? How can they make it work? Because when they are together, they are more than just physically compatible. These three characters match each other in the ways that they didn't even know they needed. This is definitely a complicated relationship with the added stress of criminal activity, even if it is a white crime where "no one got hurt". Ms. Fox creates gut clenching tension as more information is unearthed from the past. There is a reason why there is an axiom, "let sleeping dogs lie". It is shocking and the plot twists makes this story a bit unbelievable yet more understandable. The ending is bittersweet. Because even though love conquers all, at what price? This erotic romance is recommended to menage readers who enjoy explosive sex, betrayals and skeletons bured deep in closets.
This book had a great story line with twists and truths hidden being revealed along with some hot scenes between step brothers. Scarlett investaging a stolen painting worth millons comes across two step brothers Micheal and Sam and has instant attraction to both. This book has a little of everything that I like in books drama, love and suspense. Great book for a rainy Sunday to curl up with. Honest review in exchange for ARC.
The Billionaires: The Stepbrothers by Calista Fox
Lover’s Triangle #3
Scarlet Drake is an insurance fraud investigator and her gut feeling is that there is something very wrong with the disappearance of the Vandenberg art collection. She sets off to find out who might have been involved and begins by interviewing first the son and step-son of the paintings owner and ends up with more than she bargained for. She is drawn to both Michael Vandenberg, wealthy stockbroker, and his step brother Sam Reed. With a couple of her best friends in ménage relationships she is contemplating just what that might be like when she is presented the opportunity to give it a try. As with most of these books, the pleasure is intense and consensual and leads to a relationship – a relationship that might be long term. Scarlet does unearth some secrets and solve the case but it did not play out the way she thought it would. My main question at the end was where the three would live since Sam has a ranch in Montana, Michael is based in New York and Scarlet’s business is located in California. It won’t be the typical happy families, that’s for sure!
I enjoyed the book and would like to thank St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the ARC – This is my honest review.
3-4 Stars
Mystery, drama, secrets, intensity, hot sexy nights...what more could you want? Substance. There was something missing. This was overall a great story but it was missing something. Scarlet is an insurance fraud investigator looking for a thief of a multi-million dollar art collection and this leads her to Michael, a real estate tycoon. He didn't do it but he does Scarlet. Next up is his stepbrother Sam in Montana who is a horse rancher. He didn't steal it either but he does heat things up with Scarlet. Now she knows what her friends have been talking about. Will she get the thief? Overall, this was a good book, just not for me at this time.

An intriguing installment to the series. When Scarlet sets her mind to solving a mystery for her clients she usually closes the case, by any means. When faced with the elusive billionaire Michael Vandenburg she's not certain she'll be able to take the same road. Instant attraction times two throws Scarlet for a loop when she meets Michael's equally intriguing stepbrother Sam Reed. While these brothers couldn't be more different, they each ignite Scarlet. But she still has to focus on the case which creates friction since she's attempting to locate stolen art from the Vandenberg home. This careful balance of super steamy and sleuth creates a fast paced read.
This is the third installment of The Billionaires series. This is the story about Scarlet Drake, Michael Vandenberg, and Sam Reed. Scarlet is an insurance fraud investigator assigned to a case to see if a claim by Michael and Sam's parents of stolen artwork was legit. During the investigation, Scarlet falls in love with the two stepbrothers. Throughout the book, she has to figure what is most important her, her career or her relationships with those men.
I got disinterested around 1% of the book due to the fact that sex was placed at the forefront. There was no connection made between the characters. The story had barely begun. At 17% I had no idea where else the story could have gone. It seemed like the author wanted to focus more on the sex than the actual plot. Writing 3-4 chapters of a sex scene and a half a chapter worth of a plot does not constitute a storyline. The storyline really did not pick up until 75% into the book. At one point I had no idea the direction of the book. There were tangents that not convincing to this reader that there was a direction, such as, finding out the identity of Sam's father and that Sam had a twin brother, that did not add anything to the story.
Scarlet could have been a good, strong character but the author wrote her off as insecure and needy most of the book. She was a professional that had a great job. She seemed rooted in the fact that she was the best at what she did. However, the author made her look like a whore in her personal (romantic) life. She needed to have what her two friends had, a ménage relationship of her own. She had low self-esteem. She was not satisfied with her own accomplishments. "Everything she'd longed for as her best friends were hooking up with amazingly satisfying men and all Scarlet had was her work". This was sad to me. Scarlet's main objective in this book was to basically eliminate Michael and Sam as suspects in the fraud so she could continue to sleep with them.
I did not feel the connection between these characters at all. The reader does not learn too many things about the male characters. They like the same women and would rather enjoy them together. The author was trying to force the issue that there was more between the characters than a sexual attraction. At 58% into the book, this was not firmly established to my satisfaction. Everything around these three characters' relationship revolved around sex. That was the foundation the book was established on the first few pages and throughout when the characters met. Michael's bad boy image appealed to Scarlet's adventurous side and Sam's sensitivity appealed to Scarlet's sensual side. There were these brief conversations that the author placed in the book to make the characters seem as though they were so comfortable with each other to tell secrets they have never told anyone else, even though they have only known each for like an hour. If death of the people most important to them gives them a deep connection (Sam's wife died, Scarlet's parents dies, and Michael's mother died) then these characters have a connection deeper than a chasm. I had to wonder if Scarlet liked one man more than the other. She claimed that she loved them both the same equally. But it seemed as though she had something with Sam more than she did with Michael. With no real connection, the sex scenes fell flat for me. There was no real emotion emitting from the pages
There was nothing redeeming about this book, in my opinion. A weak female character that cannot make up her mind. She also feels like she has to basically sleep around with two men to have what her friends have. There were real connections between the characters and the readers. There was no development of a plot. Just a thumbs down for me all around.
*I received an ARC from Netgalley for an honest review. All reviews are my own opinions.*
I received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review. Scarlett, a fraud investigator, meets two men (Sam & Michael) who are stepbrothers, and becomes sexually attracted to both men. The investigation into an art theft brings them together but secrets uncovered could tear them apart but in the end they are still together. The book is well written and the sexual encounters are very graphic and erotic. Thoroughly enjoyed the book and would highly recommend it.
I loved it these are my favorite types of story's the author did a great job drawing my into the book as if I was right there living it with them
I have not read the previous two books in this series but they were not necessary to read this one. This was my first book by this author and I enjoyed it enough that I would read her work again. The characters were likeable and the plot interesting. I think maybe I needed more in the end. But all in all, if mystery and menage are your thing I'd give this a book a shot.
The Billionaires: The Stepbrothers (Lover's Triangle, #3) by Calista Fox ...This is the 3rd book in the series and I have enjoyed them all...I received a copy from NetGalley for an honest review. This is Scarlet, Michael and Sam's story... She is investigating the theft of art from Michael and Sam's (they are stepbrothers) family home. There is Chemistry, mystery, some danger and lot of heat...this book can be read as part of the series but it also works as a standalone....and of course there is a HEA.
This book didn't work all the way for me, I liked the sex scenes and the suspense element but everything else was a miss for me. Some of the word choices and there positions in sentences is what ultimately killed this book for me.
Scarlet is investigating an art theft from years ago where she meets stepbrothers Micheal who is all business tycoon and Sam who all about his Montana ranch. She is attract to both but wants to fulfill her duty to her company.
Wrote in traditional Fox style with high heat and great chemistry between the three people. Along with a well though out mystery that unravels slowly.
The Billionaires: The Stepbrothers is #3 in the Lover's Triangle series by Calista Fox. I did not feel I was missing any pertinent information beginning with book three. This book would appeal to those who enjoy a modern romance with a ménage à trois focus.
Scarlet is investigating a cold case involving a missing art collection of great value. During her investigation, Scarlet must question the stepbrothers, Michael and Sam. Scarlet is immediately enamored with both men when they meet individually, and soon she learns they have an affinity for enjoying their women together. Scarlet must decide how to handle her growing attraction to the stepbrothers while staying impartial during her investigation.
The good: Michael and Sam are both appealing for different reasons. Michael is spontaneous and a little aggressive, Sam is sweet and a bit tender. The characters had intelligence, indicating they did not exist solely for sake of the cliché. The chemistry between the couples did not feel forced and was quite sexy. There was a decent plot with a twist I did not predict right away. I appreciate the attempt to tell a story amidst the romantic fantasy.
The bad: The story fell a bit flat for me. It mimicked what I get out of watching a crime of the week television show. I felt the emotions where appropriate, intrigue with the art heist, desire for the men, sympathy for the loss the characters experienced, tension when new clues come to light, but now that it's over the story will fade and be forgotten. Perhaps I needed more quality time with the characters as a unit to feel more connected to them. Leaving the story as is, that connection just isn't there.
Despite its faults, this story was not bad. It was engaging and entertaining. If one is looking for a quick and easy read with some sensuality, this book will deliver that. All my opinions are my own and may not match that of others. I urge all readers to come to their own conclusions. I voluntarily received an ARC copy of this book through NetGalley.
Having read The Billionaires: The Bosses recently I was dying to dive into this one.
Scarlet is investigating an insurance fraud relating to the theft of some very expensive art. She needs to question members of the family, just to rule out their involvement.
She makes an appointment with Michael, who has been avoiding her phone calls.
Scarlet hasn’t been involved with anyone for a couple of years, so she is surprised when she feels a spark ignite within her.
She needs to interview Sam too, he’s Michaels’s stepbrother. Sam’s had tragedy in his life and his feelings have been turned off for a long time…..until he meets Scarlet. He feels a spark and Scarlet feels it too. She can’t believe after all these years she has feelings for two men.
Scarlet gets much more than she imagined when both handsome men make her temperature soar…and offer her the guiltiest of all pleasures—themselves.
This story is highly addictive and very sexy!
I usually read chick-lit and crime drama but I do love this kind of book.
I thoroughly recommend it. It has a really good storyline and isn’t just about the sex…of which there is some hot stuff!
Thanks to St. Martin's Griffin and NetGalley for my review copy in exchange for an honest review.
Will blog review closer to publication day.
