This is a new Author for me and the story kept me wanting to know what would happen next. I will be watching to see if she puts out any other books, I can only see one more so far!! This is Samuel Hinton and Kathleen Campbell's story they meet when they are trying to find out why her sister was murdered, but will Kathleen be the next victim ? I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

It is 1910 and Sam Hinton is a detective with a rural Florida town. He has been assigned to solve the brutal murder of the local school teacher. Kathleen Campbell is the teacher's sister and she has come to town to fulfill her sister's contract as school teacher and find the person who murdered her sister. When she met Sam, there was an instant attraction between them.

Sam is a God-fearing man who wants to do the right thing and help others. That's why he became a lawman. But, as he gets closer and closer to discovering who the murderer is, he worries that Kathleen might become his next victim. In a race against time, Sam is relentless and working this case so he can find the murderer and bring him to justice before he strikes again.

This is a fairly clean romance. There is a little language and some violence, although, the description of the violence is kept to a minimum without the graphic details. It was a fast-paced story but it kept me interested in the book to its conclusion.

I was given an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

This is the first book that I have read by this author and I really enjoyed the book so much that I want to read about Mae's story. Samuel and Kathleen were such a sweet couple and truly cared for each other. It was very touching when then both were injured and thought the other had died, and did not want to live with out their loved one.

Samuel was pretty advanced for that time period to search for clues after the murder to try and figure out who the killer was. I thought it was interesting that this book kind of brought this story and parts of Mae's story to a closure. I loved that Samuel's mother had "helped" him but when he really needed Kathleen to have help, his mother was there for Kathleen. It was also cute that Mae had a dream of Samuel holding a little red-headed girl on his lap!

Only part that bothered me was Kathleen could never remember to carry her gun with her! If my sister had been murdered and the killer was loose, I would not just have a gun, I would probably have a spare hidden on me as well as some knives! For the most part, it was a very enjoyable, clean romance book that kept me entertained as Samuel worked to find the killer and he and Kathleen grew to love each other.
