Thank you for the opportunity to review Repercussions. This one did not do it for me. The characters were basic and the plot line predictable. I wouldn't say the writing is bad, but it could use some work.
Edie's problems were very repetitive. Did not finish.

this was a thrilling, high-octane book with some excellent, fast-paced writing and a tiny little hint of sci-fi. i also found that the balance between thriller and romance was well-done, with believable tension and obstacles.

however - the blurb does the most annoying, WORST thing a blurb could ever do - tell you a major plot point that occurs about halfway in. SO DON'T READ IT! all you need to know is that the main character, edie, is recovering from a car accident a year ago, she still has headaches and dizziness and things, and she thinks someone might be following her. so if you are looking at the blurb on GR, under no circumstances should you click that little "more" link!! (unless you like being spoiled, i guess?)

it was a little bit predictable, which is why it's four and not five stars. but it was still really good, and i'd definitely recommend it! most (if not all) of what i've read by bold strokes books has been solid, so i'm going to keep an eye on this publisher.

I loved this book! The author has balanced suspense and romance perfectly. The plot is edge-of-your-seat exciting. The writing immerses the reader. The action is plentiful with lots of twists and turns and there are some very interesting, creative ideas within the book.

Wow what a story that just grabs you. I suffer from a TBI and I was yup yup that makes sense to me. It does change your perception of things and so I could really relate to the story.

I’ve never read anything by Jessica Webb, but that will definitely change in the future. Repercussions follows Edie Black, who has spent the past year recovering from injuries suffered in a car accident. The most pressing of the damage, a severe concussion, has wreaked havoc on both her personal and professional life. Once an investigative journalist turned professor, the accident has left her constantly looking over her shoulder and unsure of herself. Edie is slowly picking up the pieces of her former life with the help of Dr. Wallace and a support group for brain injury sufferers.

When attending one such meeting, she runs into ex-soldier Skye Kenny and the two bond over a temperamental coffee machine named Bertha. They quickly realize a mutual attraction and it’s not long before they are planning a coffee date for after the next meeting. Unfortunately, things turn complicated and their budding relationship is put on hold when Edie’s paranoia turns out to be warranted. Both women are swept up in a dangerous plot and Edie finds herself under Skye’s protection for the nearby future.

Repercussions is very well written and has a wonderful balance of thrills and romance. The chemistry between Edie and Skye is palpable and both women were wonderfully developed. The two of them continue to grow closer together despite Skye’s insistence that they not pursue anything while she is protecting Edie. The storyline is intriguing and the plot moves at a good pace. Hopefully we will see more of Edie and Skye in the future; I’d love to learn more about Skye in particular.

I have read and loved everything written by Webb. I was a bit nervous going into this book. I loved Dr. Kate so much and I wasn’t sure if she could beat Kate and Andy. Edie and Skye though are nearly even. Webb is a fantastic writer. I lover her books. Once you start reading be prepared to lack the ability to stop. I couldn’t put it down. It is best to start early and plan on being a total lump that day. Skye may be one of my favorite characters ever. That strong butch, introvert that is super mysterious and genuine. Who wouldn’t fall for her? I’m adding this one to my favorite books and will be rereading all of Webb’s books. I own them in eBook and audiobook and enjoy listening or reading over and over. If you haven’t read Webb’s earlier books you are really missing out. I feel like Bold Strokes really hit gold with Webb.

I loved this book. Jessica Webb is becoming one of my favourite authors for her engaging and interesting novels which are diverse enough to not be the same as everything else out there.

In Repercussions, Webb creates a bizarre but believable plot and I look forward to her next outing.

Jessica L Webb has done something I didn’t think possible - she has surpassed herself and written a book that had me even more enthralled than her Dr Kate Morrison series. Edie is recovering from a head injury sustained when a car hit her a year previously. She meets Skye Kenny, ex-soldier and helper at a PTSD support group. When strange things start happening to Edie she confides in Skye and realises she is not paranoid and is in real danger. This was a fast-moving story, full of twists and turns and never let up. I was up all night reading as I could not put it down. I wanted to know if Edie was going to be safe, if Skye, her protector, was going to become much more. I really loved Skye. She was strong, fiercely intelligent but so shy and vulnerable when it came to Edie. Edie was unsure of herself, scared and in need of someone to be there for her. As well as being a brilliant thriller, there were some utterly beautiful and tender moments, full of passion and intensity. I highly recommend ‘Repercussions’ and give it 5+ Stars.

I was given this ARC by Netgalley and Bold Strokes Books in return for an honest review.

I've read several of Webb books and have been blown away and here she has done it again. Her books are so full of passion. I love her writing style and she has to be one of the best story tellers ever. She takes you through her story with loads of twists and turns and she has you just where she wants you. In the palm of your hand.

The books main character Edie is recovering from an accident that gave her severe concussion and its taken over a year to claw her way back. Her psychologist wants her to mentor people experiencing similar issues and it is where she meets Skye a military personal body guard. Skye is extremely intelligent and very shy. The two women hit it off immediately.

Due to Edie's brain issues she feels like she is being watched and followed. She doesn't want to admit it because she thinks people will say she is paranoid. As it turns out she is being followed. In steps Skye and a whole web of deceit is uncovered. The chemistry between the two main characters is electric. The book is full of action you even find yourself ducking or holding your breathe.

I am kinda hoping Webb continues with Skye and Edie. They seriously are a couple to watch and hopefully watch them grow. Or maybe even a sequel after all we did meet JC, Skye's fire buddy and the psychologist for the police is kinda stern but boy she would make an awesome main. Dr Crask is one scary individual :).

Would I recommend this book? Without a doubt. Has everything and more. Enjoy!

A well written and captivating story of intrigue and romance. The blub tells part of the story, yet the tale is suspenseful. With engaging characters and plenty of action this book is definitely worth a read.

I have no idea how Jessica Webb does it, she's like the James Patterson of the lesfic world, but she now has a total of four terrific plot and character-driven books to her name in just over a year. Pick up any of these and you're guaranteed a nail-biting thriller of a story.
While I adore her Kate Morrison series, I never really fully connected with these characters and found them a little too similar to those in her previous series. I'm willing to accept one perfect, superhero-esque, laconic character if written correctly (and 2 out of the 3 aforementioned Morrison books nailed it!) but here Skye just comes across as a less interesting carbon copy of Andy. Even Edie, whose eyes this story is told from, feels a bit too much like Morrison. They're perfectly fine characters, but there's just this sense of deja vu I had that these were the discount bin doppelgangers.
I found the story to take a little longer than usual to really get going, but once it did, it was an engrossing page turner. Although I'm not entirely sure I understood "the plan" in the climax, I was still along for the ride. Webb's real talent is in her storytelling, but I'm not so sure she really went as far as she could have with the themes she touched on around hypnotism and implanting of data and memories. Maybe that will be blown out in a future Morrrison-mystery (crossing fingers)?
This was a solid read for me, despite the qualms above. I'm beginning to expect a lot of Webb as an author, so I'm probably going to be more critical than others, but ultimately this was still a very enjoyable read.

I apologize to any offended parties, but Hell Yes! I have loved every one of Ms. Webb's previous publications, she has the rare ability to capture my interest and intent for full immersion into a novel by the conclusion of the first chapter of every work. Here, with Eden and Skye, when their vulnerabilities were exposed and they faced danger together, I was rapt. It was a pleasure to read this book and I wholly appreciate the opportunity to begin what I hope will be another series for the author, I only lament what will likely be an extended period until the release of her next publication. I had long considered myself lacking in enthusiasm for the butch-femme dynamic that lesbians on the written page are often conscribed to and while such undertones were visible in the interactions of Eden and Skye, their attractiveness as a duo kept me fully invested in more. Also, if only migraines could be cured as they were by Ms. Webb...the world would be a much brighter place.

This book was AMAZING!!! I couldn't stop reading. One minute Edie was running and the next minute the book was over and I wish I could read it all over again! And I'm sure I will!

Edie meets Skye one evening as they attend support groups at a local community centre, with Edie still recovering from a concussion and an accident a year before. The attraction is instant and the two cautious women take a chance on a first date. But their courtship is cut short when they discover that Edie is being followed, that she is a wanted woman. Somebody wants Edie dead. Skye is the only one she trusts to protect her and save her, as they take off on the run and as the international plot grows.

The action was incredible. The story logical and the action scenes very real and clear as day to picture in your mind. I love as always the way Jessica Webb weaves science into her stories in some form or another. The mystery is complex and believable and wonderfully paced to keep you guessing until the end.

While this wasn't a romance focused novel- throughout the story we felt the intense emotional and physical connection between Edie and Skye. It was beautiful and tangible and made my heart ache.

I loved that this book was set in my hometown. I think I've only read one other book in my life that was set in Ottawa so it was really extra special to see the city featured in such an amazing book. Silly as it might be, I loved picturing Edie running along the canal or walking through the Market, I felt like I was right there with her.

I received an ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The first chapter pulls you in then the page turning greatness just keeps you glued to the end. I liked that although this is such an action packed book Webb still balanced it with some romance in such a way that the chemistry leaps off the pages in this intense, steamy kind of way.

Webb is someone you can count on for accuracy and realism in her books which I love because it makes it so much easier to fall into the story and forget the world around you. Her dialogue is well written and sounds conversationalist. She has a fast pace, good writing style, developed characters, plenty of action and an exciting plot. She handled the subject of PTSD very well and wove it wonderfully into her story.

I was disappointed in a sense that she seemed to have written this to be a one off instead of the beginning to a series just because she had me really interested in her world building and character development so it would’ve been nice knowing more is coming down the pike. However with her talent I could see a few places how she’d do a spin off focusing on other characters.

Jessica Webb is an author that can’t seem to put out anything bad so if you haven’t read her before you need to go pick up another of her books.

Trust me when I say it pains me that I can't honestly give this book the 5-star rating I thought I would.

I try to avoid reviewing books in comparison to others by the same writer, but I'll have to do this here. It's not that I wouldn't have read this if it wasn't by Jessica L. Webb, it's that I would've read any new book of hers after the Dr. Kate Morrison mysteries. These books were some of my absolute favorites in lesbian fiction, so I had very high hopes, and Repercussions unfortunately disappointed me a little. :(

First of all, the mystery. For some reason, the blurb already reveals most of it. If you're reading this review and you haven't read the blurb, don't — I'd say it's like being spoiled. The characters take half the book to figure out what I already knew, and even then I thought they put all the pieces together too easily, given the whole sci-fi aspect of the plot. And besides what's in the blurb, there's not really a whole lot else to the plot — the rest of it felt unimportant and I didn't get a sense of urgency that I probably should have, seeing how the government agents kept talking about what a huge deal the whole thing was. Webb's debut novel, Trigger, also had a seemingly weird story (related to the human body being used for criminal purposes), but it was much better developed, leading to the big reveal being a legit gasp-out-loud moment for me.

I don't know what to say about the romance because the main problem for me is it happened in such a short time frame. There was the whole "oops I guess they'll have to live together for a while" thing, which is usually awesome, but Edie and Skye became overly dependent and protective of each other pretty quickly considering they had just met, and I thought that could've been developed more smoothly. I couldn't help but compare to Trigger again, where Andy and Kate found themselves in a similar situation as they had to stick close together for a while and Kate was in danger. Skye was similar to Andy in the sense that they were both kind of mysterious and kept to themselves, but Andy's characterization was more consistent throughout the trilogy, whereas the "aggressively protective" aspect of Skye's personality and interactions with Edie felt a little forced.

A lot of things felt a little forced to me. Faina's involvement was obvious from the beginning and we didn't get to see enough of her friendship with Edie for their friendship arc to have the effect it was meant to have on me. That disappointed me because I was very interested in Edie's character early on, the story of her injury and recovery process, and the parts related to that were some of my favorites in the book.

Yikes, I complained a lot, but overall this was still a good book. It just wasn't mindblowingly good like I expected, but maybe I'll just keep my expectations a little lower and still look out for the author's next works.

What a fantastic read. This was nothing short of amazing. I couldn't put it down. The author certainly knows how to capture her audience and keep the pages turning. It's a well written book with likable characters and a nice heartfelt romance. This is the second book I've read by Jessica Webb. I look forward to more of her work. I would recommend this book to all.

This is a fast paced story with great characters and an interesting plot. It is a rollercoaster ride of emotions and feelings. It has a lot of difficult topics that are perfectly put together and the story is written well around it. It doesn’t feel like as if there are too many “problems” in it since they all work together. It is different but well worth a read.
