A perfectly adequate junior fiction romp, "The Traveling Restaurant: Jasper's Voyage in Three Parts" by Barbara Else does exactly what it set out to do, which was to write a whimsical tale tracking a boy named Jasper through his various adventures. It is, unfortunately, the victim of poor timing; several other similar books were all released around the same time, and this has the potential result of discouraging parents from investing in this specific iteration. That said, Else's voice is engaging, her characters appropriately spirited, and the plot well-paced. It will make quite a nice set, once finished.
