Unfortunately this book just wasn't for me. It wasn't the writing or the story or anything like that. I just didn't end up enjoying it as much as I had hoped. This is a widow story (even though she was engaged not married, but technicalities) and I'm just not a huge fan of them.
I know there are people who will like this. If you don't mind the widow storyline, then I recommend it. It just wasn't for me, unfortunately. I will read more from Jennifer Hoopes though!
This book was in my opinion a really sweet read.
I adored the characters and the plot so much.
And just breezed through this one it was such a good and easy read.
I would definitely suggest to anyone looking for a good cowboy romance to go and grab up a copy of this one. It won't disappoint.
A 5 star read for sure
A deliciously sexy slow burn romance. I absolutely loved this book!! Beautifully written, heartwarming and realistic characters. What’s not to love. A complete, utter and unrelenting delight. Happy reading everyone!!
This is a great story: one of renewal and new love. It's based in a small town which usually has its pitfalls of nosy neighbors and such but this one a really good, quality story that any reader will love.
While this story deals with some heavy subject, including loss of a loved one, survivors guilt and forgiveness, I don’t feel that it was either a dour or depressing read at all. Jennifer Hoopes did a wonderful job of bringing the reader along on Emily’s journey to learn how to live and love again.
I thought was plot was fresh and original, with a bit of a twist that this reviewer will keep to herself. Adam is patient and kind while trying to draw Emily out of the shadows she’s been existing...not living...in for 3 years. Emily’s spirit is sparked by Adam, the first person in her new home that she’s connected with.
While many small towns are inhabited by at least one nosy, intrusive gossip, Fly Creek is Home to many nosy characters, but each one is only looking out for Emily, who they instantly take under their wing as one of their own...whether Emily is aware, or wants that is irrelevant.
Great story building, fun and quirky characters and a beautiful backdrop makes Her Cowboy’s Promise a definite must read!
Her cowboy's promise is the first book in a new series. It was a good beginning and it established a lot of characters. I would like to see Levi get this own story one day.
I read this book twice and I am happy to say that I wasn't bored the second time I read it. That 's good in my book. To be honest, I didn't remember many things about the story, but everything was slowly coming back to me as I was turning the pages.
The main characters are both pleasant and I liked them. I was very happy to see them in Peyton's book (#2 in the series) and how far they have come from the people we met on the very first page of this book. The story is good and while I wasn't a big fan of the hero's secret, I could see why he never said a thing about it until the end.
My original 4-star rating will remain because once again, I feel that's the appropriate one. I wasn't blown away, but the story was one I liked and the characters were likable.
Sorry I was not able to read you book but it went to archive before I could get to it. Sorry once again.
Nice sweet romance for those looking for the sweet reads. No over the top love scenes. REAL feeling plotline and easy read.
Fantastic book with great writing and a surprise I didn't see coming! This is the first book I've read by this author but I can't wait to read more!
Jennifer Hoopes’s debut, Her Cowboy’s Promise, is a touching and poignant romance in which a woman learns to live and love again after losing her heart to tragedy. Emily White moved to the small town of Fly Creek, Wyoming, to start anew after her fiancé died in a disastrous accident, but three years later she’s still mired in pain, isolating herself and struggling to enjoy life. She meets town newcomer Adam Conley and is shocked to feel desire again, and, although she can’t quite get a read on the sexy, gentle cowboy, she’s intrigued and wants to get to know him.
It’s no coincidence that Adam is in Fly Creek and meets Emily. He made a promise to her fiancé to find her and help her recover from her grief; therefore, he’s conflicted when he finds himself attracted to her. As they get to know each other, Adam wants to do more than just fulfill an obligation, but he is choking on his guilt over his feelings, although he can’t seem to stop himself. They gradually and sweetly fall in love, and their chemistry and connection is compelling. Emily’s tentative willingness to love again is heartrending and inspiring, and Her Cowboy’s Promise is a moving and hopeful romance that will squeeze the heart.
i dnf it at 15%
i just couldnt get into i dont if its because im in a book slump or what
It would be so easy to read the cover description for Her Cowboy’s Promise and think “light hearted romance”. It is, yet it is so very much more than that. This is an emotional story for both Emily and Adam. It’s learning to deal with grief and the guilt of being the one still living in a couple separated by death. It’s learning to live and trust again, putting yourself “out there” to see what happens next. It’s not easy to start over again, but Emily is trying in this small town that rallies around her at every turn. She’s building a new life, and if the sadness and grief from her previous life still steps in, well at least she’s doing better. Soon she’ll have the chance to grab a new future, one with every promise still to be given… if she’s brave enough to take that chance once more.
Adam hadn’t intended to stay in this small town a moment longer than necessary. he had a promise to keep, and he’d do that but no more. This town brought back too many memories – and the one woman who could change his mind.
Her Cowboy’s Promise is an emotional romance. One that will hit some people hard. There is an intense focus on Emily’s grief. That will affect some readers who don’t want that deep of a reality in a romance, in my opinion. Everyone grieves in their own way and in their own time, for Emily this was her way. Eventually she comes back to the reality standing right in front of her, but it’s not an easy journey for her. There are intense moments, yet also lighthearted ones. As Emily and Adam begin to see beyond grief and the past their path to their own happiness lies open and waiting for them. The question becomes, will they reach for it.
I enjoyed this story, it’s emotional, and real. It also has me curious as to what the author would bring us next. And that I’ll be watching for.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I found the book to be well written, loved the characters and the beautiful Wyoming setting. I recommend to all readers of romance.
Emily is existing. After losing her fiance in a horrible accident she moves to a town that reminds her of the one her fiance wanted to settle down in and run a ranch. Adam promised his cousin, Emily's fiance, that he would make sure she's happy. Emily steps outside of her comfort zone after she's attracted to Adam. The two are made for each other if they can let their pasts go. I love Adam. He's the cowboy girls dream of.
Though the story started a bit slow the explosive chemistry between Adam and Emily help the book move faster. If you enjoy a romance that's filled with redemption and forgiveness then I recommend checking out Her Cowboy's Promise.
Tragedy caused artist Emily White to move to Fly Creek, Wyoming, three years ago. She’s opened up her own gallery there but kept herself emotionally disconnected from the world until Adam Conley enters her store. He, too, has moved to the area but his motivation is to fulfil his promise to his cousin regarding Emily. She’s totally unaware of his connection to her dead fiancé but both are very aware of the instant attraction between them. As emotional barriers are broken down, will love find a way to help the two of them find romance together or drive them apart forever?
Packed with emotion, this story journeys from devastating grief, through love, deception, courage and romance. It involves fighting the past to move on to the future and is written in a way that draws the reader in and makes this such a memorable story. It is the first in a new series, with a brilliant, caring community that I can’t wait to read more about in future, I’ll certainly be looking out for more by this highly talented author and have no hesitation in highly recommending this book.
I requested and was given a copy of this book via NetGalley and this is my honest opinion after choosing to read it.
Even though I did enjoy this book, if I'm honest it did have its moments where it felt like it was dragging and I really have to push myself to read or get through some point of the book. Even with that said, I really did like the book the characters where book, the story line was interesting and when it came down to the story in general it was a pretty good book. Maybe it's me, maybe I just wasn't in the mood to read it. The book does have its generic story line that I usually find appealing there just wasn't enough in this book to really be different and stand out with its own set of drama. Overall I'd rate this book 3 of 5 stars.
Entangled Publishing’s Bliss imprint is all about sweet romance, family, everyday men and women, and small towns, with caring if not nosey and pushy townspeople. Her Cowboy’s Promise encompasses all that and more.
After the heartbreaking death of her fiancé Drew, Emily White left everything she knew including her family and friends to escape the pain. She moved halfway across the country and started over. It’s been three years and she’s only living a shell of a life. She doesn’t socialize outside of greeting and interacting with customers at Painted Glass, her art store. She doesn’t eat out. In fact, she doesn’t go out at all. The townspeople of Fly Creek, Wyoming seem to understand that she has a past and is carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders. They’re happy to sit back and wait for her to come around.
Adam Conley managed to escape small town ranch life and never wants to look back. His desire not to be a rancher earned him a finance degree and jobs in New York and Chicago. But he still isn’t happy. His cousin Drew made him promise to look after Emily and to make sure that she’s happy and moves on with her life. It’s this promise to Drew that finds him where he doesn’t want to be, as a ranch hand at Sky Lake Ranch in Fly Creek, Wyoming.
For weeks, Adam has been in town, interacting with people to get a feel for Emily. When they finally do meet, sparks fly and neither is prepared. Emily hasn’t felt anything for anyone since Drew’s death. She simply hasn’t wanted to really live. But Adam makes her want to touch a man and step out of her self-imposed exile. Adam wants to fulfill his promise, but he doesn’t know how to handle his sudden feelings for a woman he knows he can’t and shouldn’t have. Together, Emily and Adam set out on a journey of self-discovery, healing, forgiveness, and ultimately love.
Her Cowboy’s Promise is a very impressive debut from new author Jennifer Hoopes. This story is heartbreaking at times, so be sure to have tissue handy. But it’s also about healing and moving forward. Surprisingly for me, I didn’t hate the small town, nosey citizens. They actually added to my love of the story. In fact, all the characters are great, from Piper who wants to be Emily’s friend, but is like a steamroller when given the chance; to Shelby, owner of Sky Lake Ranch who’s like a mother hen and grizzly bear rolled in one. Adding to this amazing cast of characters are Levi, Adam’s older brother, Dan, Adam’s friend and another ranch hand and Polly Brooks, Piper’s grandmother.
Her Cowboy’s Promise is a definite bookshelf keeper. Jennifer Hoopes has earned her place on my auto-buy author list and I can’t wait to return to Fly Creek.
I received this ARC copy of this book from NetGallery for an honest review. I give this book 5 stars. The storyline between Emily and Adam met at the Sky Lake Dude Ranch. A must read book. Will Adams secret break them up.
Survivors guilt and a cousin's promise are the premise of Her Cowboy's Promise. Emily lost her love in an accident years ago and has basically put her life on hold. She moved to a tiny Wyoming town and lives an isolated life as an artist. Adam made a promise to his cousin (Emily's dead lover) and he has come back to Fly Creek Wyoming to see it through. However, cracking Emily's hardened exterior is going to be more challenging than he expected.
Emily's grief is understandable. She certainly has survivor's guilt and feels bad because she is forgetting her lovers smile. She has no problem remembering the horrible accident. Stuck in a rut of simply existing, she certainly isn't living a fulfilling life. My struggle with Emily is that she has been isolating herself for years, and after meeting Adam twice, she is ready to sleep with him. It felt disingenuous to me.
Adam has no plans to say in Wyoming and only came back because he promised. He doesn't want to be attracted to Emily because he knows she was in love with his cousin (and, you know, he is leaving town ASAP). He keeps his secret for a bit too long and this ultimately causes the tension and climax of the story.
Her Cowboy's Promise is a sweet, emotional contemporary romance; while predictable, the emotions are well written and easy to empathize with so you can understand the characters. The book is poignant and heart felt so be prepared for some heavy emotions. The townspeople are enjoyable and add a touch of levity, but overall the book is more of the emotional type.
