FBI agent Declan Grey is in the chase of his life--but isn't sure exactly what he's chasing after. Threatened by a terrorist that "the wrath is coming," Grey fears something horrible is about to be unleashed on American soil. When his investigation leads him to a closed immigrant community, he turns to Tanner Shaw to help him. She's sought justice for refugees and the hurting around the world, and if there's anyone who can help him, it's Tanner.

Tanner Shaw has joined the FBI as a crisis counselor . . . meaning she now has more opportunity to butt heads with Declan. But that tension also includes a spark she can't deny, and she's pretty sure Declan feels the same. But before anything can develop between them, they discover evidence of a terror cell--and soon are in a race against the clock to stop the coming "wrath" that could cost thousands their lives.

This is the third story in the Chesapeake Valor series. It would be very helpful to read the first two books in the series to be brought up to speed on this one. There is two stories going on at once in this book. The murder of a beloved coach and the imminent terrorist attack threat. Tanner and Declan are being targeted by the terrorists to stop them from discovering their plans. Their lives are saved by an unexpected source.

The only negative I have about this book is that it doesn't really end. I do not like books that don't really end. It sets the stage for last book in the series.

I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.

This is the third novel in the Chesapeake Valor series and I highly recommend that the others be read before this one. There is much in this novel that relies on events in the previous books. The interaction of the major characters may not make much sense unless the reader is familiar with the back story of their relationships.

I was a bit surprised at the amount of romance in this novel. It seemed to overshadow the suspense aspect of the story. At times the romantic interludes seemed odd as they occurred during times when the agents should have been on high alert.

The plot was two pronged. Some on the team were working on solving a murder. Others on the team were working on a human trafficking case with a very possible connection to a future terrorist attack. The narrative alternates between the teams. I thought the plot of the murder was a little weak. The human trafficking case alone would have made for a good novel. I think a single case would have allowed for a deeper plot and deeper character development.

I do recommend this novel to those who enjoy a romantic suspense that emphasizes the romance aspect.

I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

I recommend reading the Chesapeake Courage series in order to get the full picture of storyline. Lots of action, courage and faith throughout this story. This story is so realistic with all the terrorism, immigration, human trafficking, murder and mayhem happening these days. It gives a glimpse into the behind the scenes actions of those who keep the U.S. safe. As always, there is a cliffhanger to keep us looking forward to the next book. Recommended!

This series by Dani Pettrey is fantastic! This is the third book in the series, and it only keep getting better. I kind of wish they were able to be released closer together because it's hard to wait so long to see what happens next! : ) But I'm thankful for all of thought that Dani puts into these novels because they are full of detail and indepth plot lines.

I'm finally starting to be able to keep up with all of the characters in this series : ). I'll admit, there are a lot of them, as there is a family feel to the group of characters and they're in each novel. This story focuses in on Declan Grey and Tanner Shaw and their role in trying to solve a muli-tiered, multi-murder mystery. Some of the circumstances are carried over from the previous books in the series. You still get to see other familiar characters as well, as they all work together to solve crimes.

The plot is action-packed from the beginning. There is never a dull moment as Declan and Tanner are being chased, shot at, and followed as they try to solve not only the circumstances surrounding the death of some friends, but a bigger terrorist plot that is brewing among them. Throughout all of this, the romantic tension between them is also building. I also enjoyed learning about their past and who they really are, especially Tanner. I loved her backstory : ).

You really can't go wrong with a Dani Pettrey book! I would definitely recommend Blind Spot!

I was dying for this book to come out. Whenever I pick up a book by Dani Pettrey I know I am in for a one of a kind ride and I can't wait to get started. Blind Spot is the third book in the Chesapeake Valor series. The Chesapeake Valor Series follows a group of best friends that have known each other since they were kids. They each have special skills, and when brought together can solve almost anything. When the fate of our country is at risk, the stakes are at an all time high. Not only do they need to use every skill they have, but they need to figure it out fast. When murder strikes close to home, what they thought they knew was tested. Can they uncover what seems nearly impossible before it's too late?

I had so much fun reading this book. I love the way the characters work together and have learned to read each other. Saying I'm dying to read the next book might be a understatement. I loved the way this story ended and can't wait to meet with the team again. I first met Declan and Tanner in the earlier books and was hoping they would end up together. You don't need to read the other books in this series to enjoy this one. But I'm betting once you read this one you'll be anxious to hear more about these amazing characters. I received a copy of this book and was in no way forced to publish an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

The intensity of this series keeps growing with each book. This is one series that must be read in order to really understand everything that is going on. Plus it will help you get to know the characters better, understanding their backgrounds and interactions with one another.

Declan and Tanner are teamed together to investigate a human smuggling ring. This teaming up forces them to spend lots of time together, really getting to know one another and leads them to exploring their feelings for each other. The rest of the gang begin investigating a fraud case that leads to a much complicated case.

There is a ton of action throughout the book, multiple threats to lives and lots of high stress moments but mixed in is a blossoming relationship. Without giving any spoilers there was another thread added that piqued my interest so much I could not put this book down. I loved that the characters felt real, personal stuff was happening in addition to their work stuff. I enjoyed how the faith of characters was presented, showing it is a daily relationship not a only turn to God in those desperate times relationship.

I have grown to care about each character throughout the series and have always looked forward to the Declan scenes in previous books, but in this one it was the Kate scenes I loved the most. As much as I enjoyed this story, I am frustrating with the ending as it ends with a cliff-hanger. It frustrates me when I have to wait, who knows how long, to find out what’s going to happen with this characters I have grown to know. It is for this reason that I prefer to wait for the whole series to be released before starting book one, but I didn’t realize there would be a book 4. Can I please have it now?

Yeah, so I finished this book at 2 am, my husband was out of town, and I had to fall asleep with the lamp on! Talk about intense! This is one of those can't-put-it-down books, where the pace is quick and the characters don't seem to stop for one second. Well, they do stop for some good kissing, but that's another kind of intense ;) There are two cases being worked by the team of friends, and by now we've gotten to know Griffin and Finley from Cold Shot, and Parker and Avery from Still Life. I've been so excited for Declan and Tanner's story since there was a great lead-in to their current relationship, so I recommend reading the books in order for the best experience. It can also be read out of order since there are no spoilers for the plots of the previous books (which I think is a good choice).

The case that Griffin is leading is creepy and a little gory. There's a lot of angles that the team had to work since it involves some obvious suspects but also options for hidden motives by others. Declan is continuing his investigation from Still Life, and now gets to work with Tanner as his partner, which gives them plenty of opportunities to get up close and personal. There is quite a bit of danger, running from bullets, and taking out would-be assassins. Declan learns more about Tanner's past and why she is so good at her job, and is able to trust that she can indeed handle the scary situations they find themselves in. Tanner sees a lesser-known side of Declan and as his walls come down, they grow closer together. I loved their developing romance and the great chemistry they have together!

I was impressed how the members of the team really lived their faith as they petition the Lord for guidance and safety as they search for clues and follow the leads to obtain justice and protect innocent lives. Another thread is woven in that will lead into the fourth book in the Chesapeake Valor series, and this one has been a long time coming, solving a mystery that was introduced in the first book, Cold Shot. I can't wait to read what I hope will be Kate and Luke's story! I highly recommend this series to fans of romantic suspense!

Love this series! The only negative throughout the series is that I keep mixing up the names of characters. Who is who, who works with who and who belongs to whom. This has been a struggle for me throughout all three books, but it didn't stop me from enjoying the storyline.
In Blind Spot, Declan and Tanner's story, it is their storyline that intrigued me the most and kept me glued to the pages. I really love their characters and how the author threw them together!
The secondairy mystery didn't grab my attention as much.
Overall, a great suspenseful read with enough romance to make it even more interesting.

“A war was headed for U.S. soil, and tonight there wasn’t a thing he could do to stop it” (Location 57). In the enigmatic epilogue, there’s finally more of a clue about where the mysterious Luke has been. He plays a bigger role in this book and it sets up the next book nicely.
However, Declan and Tanner are the heroes in this book as they follow the clues and try to stop the terrorists before they pull off something big on American soil. I loved how they work together. Declan learns he has misjudged Tanner in the past. They have a lot of zing when they converse (or butt heads). It’s fun to watch as they strip away their preconceptions and learn more about who the other really is.
This story feels very fresh and current with all that is going on in the world. It is fast-paced with a sense of urgency. It’s hard to stop reading. There are a couple mysteries going on at once with some twists. It is a very satisfying read. I’d highly recommend it to anyone, but especially to lovers of suspense.

Third in the Chesapeake Valor series, Blind Spot has two story lines going on. One is a murder at a retreat center. One person is found dead and two are missing and presumed dead. I pretty much was able to figure out who the murderer was in this story line although I did not know the reason.

In this book we are introduced to a new character who is described as a blend of Jack Reacher and Jason Bourne. He will play a pivotal part in this book.

The other story line involved terrorist which is a continuing story line from the previous books. Decker Grey and Tanner are heavily involved in this story. They were introduced in the previous books but we get to know them better in this one. Sometimes this story line was confusing due to the different characters but the story kept me engaged. Decker and Tanner's lives were in danger several times and I kept wondering how they would escape with their lives intact. Some situations were very intense and they escaped with the skin of their teeth. Just when you thought you could breath with one terrorist problem solved another one crept up but you were left with a clifthanger that will not be solved until the next book. I can't wait.

Blind Spot's release date is October 3. Thanks to Netgalley and Bethany House for providing me a digital copy of this book to read and review.

I absolutely loved this story. Declan and Tanner are great together and Luke is back. This was edge of your seat excitement, Luke was like Superman showing up when they needed him most. Declan and his team are fighting a war on terror on American soil, they just have to find who is behind it and stop them before it is too late. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

I’m a fan of Dani Pettrey and have really enjoyed the Chesapeake Valor series. I’m disappointed to say that this installment, while still a good read, did not live up to my expectations.

It took me a really long time to get into the story. In the previous book, Still Life, there is a subplot with Declan and a potential terrorist attack that I didn’t really like. That subplot becomes the main focus of this book, along with Declan and his romantic interest Tanner, so I think I started off the book a little biased. It took me until over half way through to really start enjoying it. There were a few well done suspenseful moments thrown in, but it wasn’t until the latter half of the book that I really felt the urgency.

It also took me a little while to get on board the Declan and Tanner ship. I did like Declan pretty early on, but I thought Tanner could be a little condescending. There’s also a reveal about Tanner’s big secret, shameful past that greatly annoyed me. There was absolutely nothing for her to be ashamed of and I thought it was kind of disrespectful to the real life people in that position. Tanner did eventually grow on me, though, and I was happy when her relationship with Declan finally progressed. I also liked how their faith was effortlessly written into the story. I didn’t think there was any “big lesson” they had to learn, but their Christian faith was evident in who they were and I liked that.

We also get Griffin’s POV with the second major storyline, the murder of a friend/mentor of the group. I have to say that I was incredibly bored with this storyline. With the terrorism plot, this one just didn’t really seem to matter. I thought that the answers came way too easily, too. And as with the previous book, I don’t understand how all these people are able to share details of official investigations. And how does Griffin have any jurisdiction to pursue someone out of the country? I also thought it was odd that Tanner, who is a crisis counselor, gets to be Declan’s partner once they’re done with her connection to a potential witness. I feel like you have to overlook a lot when it comes to the crime solving in this series.

We get one other person’s POV and it was the one I most enjoyed. We finally get some answers (though vague) on the missing Luke. I had some issues with the way different members of the group reacted to his reappearance, but I guess I can kind of see where they’re coming from. I just hope they get over it quickly in the next book.

Overall, I thought Blind Spot was Pettrey’s most ambitious book yet. I can appreciate the effort to elevate the central mystery to a national threat and not just something that affects someone in the group of friends, but it just fell a little short for me. I had a hard time getting into the story and while I did like Declan and Tanner eventually, I did not enjoy them as much as I did the central couples of the previous books. I did really like the appearance of Luke, though, and am really looking forward to seeing more of him in the next book.

Overall Rating (out of 5): 3 Stars

I should hat noticed that this is just part of a series. I was clearly missing some major information about previous events and the end is only partly satisfying. The romance part is quite sweet, their working on the foundation of faith believable. Why there neede to be two totally independant cases is not quite clear.
In order to relly enjoy this novel I suggest starting with #1.

Dani Pettrey has done it again. She kept me up all night finishing this next installment in the Chesapeake Valor series. This book dives deeper into the story of Declan Grey and Tanner. Like each of the books in this series each a minor character from the previous book is brought into the focus but still continues the lead story started in the first book. The threat of terrorism is getting bigger and the trail is heading in two directions. Declan wrestles with how to protect Tanner and his feelings for her grow. Her ability to keep each of the characters centered in their faith in God as well as create a deep suspense story keeps readers engaged. I can't wait for Book 4.

The group is investigating several different cases in this book. A friend of Griffin, Parker and Declan is found dead at an office retreat and it looks like he is being framed for murder. Then Declan and Tanner are investigating a human trafficking/terrorist smuggling ring. Both cases are interesting, but the story mainly revolves around Declan and Tanner's relationship as it develops. They are really a sweet couple. Declan's eyes are opened to Tanner's ability to care for herself as they encounter attack after attack. Kate is still searching for Luke and that could lead to danger for all of the team.

I really enjoyed Blind Spot! The exciting events kept the pace moving along to the very end. Not only did the danger that Declan and Tanner found themselves up against, but also the romance between the two, kept this reader entertained and unable to put the book down until the exciting conclusion. And talk about a cliffhanger! Ack! This one has just been released and I am already pining away for the next book! If you haven't read the first 2 books in the Chesapeake Valor series I highly recommend them.

Got approved to review this at 6:30 tonight and just finished reading it at 10:30. Book 4, PLEASE!!!!

I'm addicted to this group of guys (and gals)... I love stories of enduring friendship anyway, and there's a great example of that in this series. Honestly, I can never get enough of strong friendship stories, to the point of where friends are like brothers/sisters and are willing to sacrifice for each other—and I mean real sacrifice, not the "here's a chocolate from my box of chocolates" kind of sacrifice. You know that "Greater love has no man...than to lay down his life for his friend" passage? One character here puts life and limb in peril more than once to save a friend from certain death, and I do have to say, that person quickly became a favorite character, especially as the scenes unfolded and that character was revealed as being less than happy, longing for peace and a home, etc etc. To give to another from riches is one thing; to sacrifice out of poverty another. NO, I'm not telling you who that is. You have to read the book. (Caveat: you can't just read this book. It won't make good sense unless you read books one and two to get the scoop on the friendship and the ongoing backstory of the international criminal they're trying to take down.)

Then, also, the faith these guys have. What an example of faith in action in daily life. This isn't praying for help when pushed to the wall; it's a daily relationship with God and a real knowledge of "I'm stronger with God by my side at every moment" type of faith. Get in a sticky spot? Hm, God must have a plan. This is exactly what I look for when I pick up a Christian fiction book: a real, relevant, daily faith.

There are two threads in this book: the mystery specific to this book, and the overarching pursuit carried over from the other books and lasting into the next book.

Romance...not the first thing I look for in a book, but Declan and Tanner were truly a great couple.

(But can I just say, that scene near the end where Kate gets mad—or should I say scenes?—I ate that up! Laughed out loud.)

Blind Spot is the third book in the Chesapeake Valor series by Dani Pettrey. You need to read book 1 before this book as the plot continues. Declan Gray is back working on the smuggling case now with the help of Tanner Shaw who joined the FBI as an counselor. Be prepared for many twists as Pettrey has once again created characters with unparalleled depth and back stories. She has also introduce d several secondary characters who most likely will take center stage in subsequent books. Pettrey has done it again with another bestseller.

Warning: do not start reading this book unless you have a good few hours spare, because you are not going to want to put this one down! Non-stop action, heart-pounding romance, strong friendship, numerous high-stakes criminal investigations, high-speed motorcycle chases through traffic with bullets flying - this book has everything to keep readers madly flipping pages.

Declan Grey, FBI agent, knows in his gut that there is more to be uncovered about the boat he caught smuggling drugs and humans into the USA. But he is surprised when he is paired with Tanner Shaw, a recent FBI recruit and someone well versed in working with the immigrant population, to work the case, and even more surprised when she agrees with his assessment of imminent danger. Their proximity as they work the case allows them both to examine their growing feelings as they race against the clock to prevent what appears to be a planned terrorist attack.

The action starts right from the beginning of Blind Spot and never stops, and it doesn't take much longer for the romance to heat up either. Right from the first chapter, the first line, I knew this book was going to blow wide open one of the mysteries outlined in the previous books in the series. Knowing the characters and their backgrounds also meant the story could jump right into the action. Because of that, I suggest readers tackle this series in chronological order - the mix of suspense, romance, and friendship is well worth it.

I really enjoyed watching Declan and Tanner come together. They had butted heads so many times in the previous book, that is was fun to see them set aside their differences and instead focus on what makes them so well suited.

I read this book in one, four hour sitting. I didn't want to put it down. I was swept up in the crime solving. There are are two main cases that take the focus of this book's plot. As Declan and Tanner work their case, Griffin, Finley, Parker, Avery, and Kate work a fraud case that quickly dissolves into a complicated homicide. As well as these two cases, we readers finally get some more information about the disappearance of the group's friend, Luke. A satisfying climax only leads to more questions as the book perfectly sets up what is sure to be an amazing fourth book.

This Chesapeake Valor series is perfect for readers who enjoy crime fighting and suspense that leaves you unwilling to put the book down. Throw in some swoony romance, a strong band of friendship and unswerving faith, and you have a book just like Blind Spot. Highly recommended.

The publishers provided an advanced readers copy of this book for reviewing purposes. All opinions are my own.

"Blind Spot" is a Christian romantic suspense novel. It's the third book in a series. It's not really a stand-alone novel as main characters from the previous novels have point-of-view roles in this one and there are two ongoing cases being investigated throughout the series.

The characters made some progress on the ongoing cases, including uncovering a terrorist plot. They also had to solve a murder. The suspense came from trying to uncover and stop the terrorist plot before the bad guys pull it off or manage to kill Declan or Tanner (as they're on a hit list). With so much going on, the romance was mostly the two working together and feeling like they're a good influence on each other. Tanner revealed a secret about her past which actually helped resolve a source of conflict between the two.

The characters prayed to God to help them with the case and keep them safe. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this exciting novel.

I received an ebook review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.

I enjoy a good suspense with tons of suspense and a hint of romance. Like most people, I was introduced to Dani Pettrey's writing with her Alaskan Courage story. I really enjoyed that series, and I am glad that she has continued writing another series. With the third addition to the Chesapeake Valor series, Blind Spot, the story has just what I'm looking for. Plenty of nail-biting moments and characters who have gripped my attention from the first book, Cold Shot, and continue to Blind Spot.

I enjoy Pettrey's writing. She is great at inviting me into the story and capturing my attention from the get go. Right in the first chapter, Pettrey invites me into the tension and sparks my interest with the idea of something sinister. She also is good at making the setting come to life. Also, I enjoy how this series revolves around terrorist attacks and trafficking, which is completely relevant to the news today.

I enjoyed spending time getting into Declan and Tanner's head this time around. They have been on the fringes in the previous two stories, so it was nice to hear their story from their perspective. It was nice seeing what made them tick and watch their romance develop on a deeper level. Tanner is a smart, athletic woman who has a number of hidden skills that Declan stands in awe at. While Declan doesn't appear to be such a mean guy when Pettrey allowed me to come close and personal to his personality.

There are two mystery plots in this story. One has to do with a dead man and a "missing" couple. The other subplot has to do with a terrorist plot that I believe has been carried over from the previous novel. I enjoyed both stories and couldn't wait to see justice served. There were moments where I held my breath, waiting to see what danger the characters would end up in. Pettrey does a great job at actually leaving the end as a cliff-hanger, which I didn't see coming, but I can tell you I'm really happy she did. Makes me want to return for the next installment.

Overall, Dani Pettrey's Blind Spot is a thrill-ride of a tale with two different stories fighting for the central story with fascinating characters that kept me glued to the page. I highly recommend this novel for fans of Brandilyn Collins, Lynette Eason, and Carrie Stuart Parks. I really can't wait for the next book.

I received a complimentary copy of Blind Spot from Bethany House Publishers, but the opinions stated are all my own.
