wonderful book showcasing the beauty and wonders of the people that risk their own lives in order to help others.
alone for that it’s a beautiful read because it really shows what’s going on in the lives and moments of a first responder that most people won’t experience in their own lives!
it also adds this element of god and faith/believe into it without being pushy or preaching about it, more or less stating or sometimes even almost questioning if in some moments those rescuers might have had a little help themselves.
defiantly a worthwhile read!
Thoroughly enjoyed this book and the many ways in which coincidences/ supernatural events occur and the many lives these have been able to save or improve.
I really enjoyed the book and recommend it.
I was given this book by NetGalley and the publisher. This is my voluntary review.
This is a wonderful book that gives not only insight but is an emotional read, or at least it was for me. I'm not sure what people think in general when or if they experience help of this kind in their lifetime but this book is a great example of some of these experiences you don't hear about everyday.
My husband works a second job in Emergency Management, so we know several police officers, firemen, EMTs, and ER nurses. I am already aware of many amazing EMS stories. Dr. Lesslie’s book is an engaging, even riveting, telling of even more. Dr. Lesslie has a writing style that flows effortless from page to page.
My schedule is honestly overloaded, and very few books fall into my “can’t put it down” category, but this one did. I had a very hard time focusing on my various responsibilities, promising myself “just one more story” before I’d get to work on whatever. This kind of storyteller is rare, and these kinds of stories are soul-satisfying. This is not one of those syrupy sweet, all’s-well anthologies. Rather, it’s full of hard places and tough decisions that must be made in split seconds. But it’s also full of truly heroic sacrifice and noble deeds.
I found myself thinking about Philippians 4:8 frequently while reading this book – whatever is true, honorable, right, of good repute, excellent, praiseworthy, think on these things. We’ve taught our children to be discerning in their consumption of media and that a story can be told many different ways, focusing on many different philosophies. Dr. Lesslie has taken the world of Emergency Services, a notably awful place full of the worst of situations across all spectrums of life, and he has turned a spotlight on what is true, what is honorable, right, pure, good, and so on. The reader still knows about the awful stuff, so salaciously focused on by other books, TV shows, or movies. It’s there. Dr. Lesslie doesn’t ignore all that. But he says, “Look! Right here! In the midst of this pain, look at this evidence of something or Someone much greater than the situation.”
This is the first book by Dr. Lesslie that I’ve read, but now I’ll search out the others to read as well.
I gratefully received this book as an eARC from the author, publisher, and NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased review. But I’ve put this book on our Christmas shopping list for a couple of special EMS people in our lives.
The title of this book captured my attention....who doesn't love angels? What a beautiful book....it does make you think, doesn't it. Thank you for sharing it w/ me....I have shared it w/ all of my reading friends.
Angels to the Rescue is an unreal book. It is full of first responders heroic tales of their lives on the job and how GOD(at least that is how I choose to believe) intervenes, gives them what they need to get through right there and then or after they have gone through what they have gone through. GOD is amazing and HE sure shows up in abundant, intense, loving, anchored, big-hearted and blissful way. The people put their lives on the live every single moment of every single day. This book is encouraging, enlightening, addicting, (you just have to share this book and the stories), exemplifying and a Blessing. You need to get this book to know what I am trying to say because I just cannot give it enough justice.
This is a fascinating collection of stories gathered by an Emergency Room Doctor from fire fighters, patients, police officers, paramedics, etc. They all have a thread of someone feeling prompted to do something or say something or go somewhere that resulted many times in a life being saved. It’s the stuff that gives you goose bumps. I found them very encouraging and amazing. I am even more thankful for all the first responders out there giving critical care in extremely stressful situations.
I particularly appreciated the stories of Doctors being led to the right diagnosis or procedure as I have seen that happen in my son’s life….a doctor catching an aneurysm in my son’s heart at just the right moment….or another doctor responding in time to save my son’s life as he went into cardiac and respiratory failure.
These stories make me want to listen better to promptings I feel. As these people found out, you never know how your actions might affect someone. The stories were riveting and I was amazed at the lengths some people would go to to save people who had hurt them drastically. The stories are beautiful tales of forgiveness and sacrifice at great cost.
In a day and age when most of the news is bleak, it was refreshing to read a book that highlights people who are making a difference.
Thank you to Harvest House for providing me with a free e-copy of this book. I was not required to leave a positive review. All opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed this book! It takes you on a journey to hospital rooms, car wrecks, suicides and burning buildings to show how God miraculously uses Angels and humans to protect people from danger, save lives and cushion a suicide victim from being seriously hurt after jumping off of a bridge!
Your faith in God and in how He is involved in our lives and the lives of other people without our ever knowing it.
These true-life stories would be a great gift for someone who needs to know that God is at work in people's lives today!
Wow what do I write?
This book is incredible. It is inspiring. It makes you believe.
It is full of short stories that our medical personnel experience. Some have you even contemplating divine intervention. How they survived, how they coped and how they got through it. These people put their lives on the line daily to try to save and keep strangers safe. Your respect for these people will increase exponentially. They are truly the heroes.
You want something inspiring to read then look no further. Enjoy!

ANGELS TO THE RESCUE by Robert Lesslie.. First hand look of the angels. who work in emergency rooms and first responders . How they tireless give and fight for life. The stories will uplift you in the work they do. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
Whether you know a first responder or medical professional or not this book will give you a deep insight into what they do to earn a paycheck. Not just that though but the things they do to save a life. you also learn about their feelings, how they cope to get through the day. But mostly you get to read some of the coolest stories of how not only they help people but some of the ways they survived some terrible and dangerous situations. After reading this book you will not only have a better understanding of how these people put their lives on the line daily but you will also have a new found respect for them. Some of these stories are so incredibly only God himself could of been watching over everyone involved.
I thoroughly enjoyed this collection of stories from ER doctors. Very well written.
This book is about various things that happen that are very inspiring. Even the non-believer will have to agree that some of these stories there had to be some time of divine intervention involved. Stories are short enough where you can read during lunch time, a doctor's visit, etc and be able to complete the full story. Or, you can absorb it in one sitting. This is a book I will recommend to my fellow readers. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC of this book in return for my honest review.
