A light devotional book that offers not overly deep devotions.
If you are looking for something like that this might be right for you, if you want something that will make you think or give you real inspiration or anything that is not just a nice light quote -more or less even if that does sound mean- might not be the book for you.

Totally loved this book especially the poems at the end of each day's thought. This is a book I am glad I have read and one I will definitely return to at some point in the future.
I was given this book by NetGalley and the publisher. This is my voluntary review.

Coffee for Your Heart was an easy devotional to read. It wasn't too deep, but also wasn't too light of a read. I liked the way it was written and I did find some things encouraging.

All in all, I liked the book. I didn't love everything about it, but it was overall a nice read.

*I received a complimentary eBook copy for my honest review. As always. all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.*

Are you a morning coffee drinker? I sure am! I feel like my day hasn't really started until I have a nice, hot (or sometimes, iced) cup of joe in the morning. I like to drink my coffee in peace and quiet at my dining room table while I listen to Fox and Friends on the radio and plan my day, or while I do my daily devotional and Bible reading. On Saturdays I like to sit on the couch with a good book and leave Billy keep an eye on the boys for a few minutes. Coffee is like a sane place to start my day.

I recently mentioned that I've been trying harder to spend a few minutes in reading my Bible and working through some Bible studies the last few weeks. Having this time with the Lord in the morning is really changing my days. I don't really have time to sit and do in-depth reading and study, so I try to find books that allow me to be refreshed in just a few minutes. I've been a follower of Holley Gerth on Twitter for a while now, and I really like the things she says. She's always uplifting and encouraging. I hadn't had the chance to read any of her books before. But when I saw that Coffee for Your Heart was available for review, I knew I needed to give it a try.

Holly's book is just as uplifting and encouraging as her tweets. Just like my morning cup of coffee gets my physical day going, Coffee for Your Heart gets my spiritual day going. I have been so encouraged, and I am slowly changing the way that I look at myself, and speak to myself. I am so hard on myself. The lies that the devil makes me believe are usually filled with words like, 'not enough,' 'unaccepted,' 'unloved, and 'not wanted.' Deep in my heart I know that these are lies. But Satan is a powerful deceiver and he makes me believe these lies more often than not. I may be the only person who struggles with these issues, but, considering that here is a whole book written about them, I don't think I am.

As a woman it isn't always enough to hear my husband, my sister, or even my friends tell me that I am accepted, loved, chosen and enough. Their words may make me feel better for a few minutes, or even days, but when I find myself in a low spot again, Satan is ready to rush in with more lies and condemnations, tearing my spirit to shreds. But the one thing that the devil cannot change is God's Word. The Bible tells me exactly what He thinks of me, and what He says. And (spoiler alert!) He never tells me that I am unwanted or unloved. He uses words like, "wonderfully made," "chosen," and "forgiven."

I needed someone to put these things down for me in writing. I need to be reminded daily that God loves me, no matter how unworthy I feel, or how guilty my past is. In Coffee for You Heart Holley does just that. The book is a 40-day study, and each day begins with the reminder, "Today you are..." and then goes on to tell me exactly what God says about me. I haven't finished this book, yet, I'm working my way through it slowly. So far some of my favorites include:
•I am accepted
•I am loved
•I am wonderfully made
•I am free

I'm reading one chapter every day, and journaling as I go. If you've read much of this blog before, you know that I only use and believe the King James Bible. This book does not use that Bible, so I usually begin by finding that day's verse in my own Bible. (I don't mind because I use my Beautiful Word Bible for study, and it is beautifully illustrated. I love jus to flip through it and see all the beautiful lettering.) I will generally write down the verse that speaks to me the most from that day's passage, and sometimes a short prayer, or what I felt God saying to my heart as I read. In addition to the Scripture verses and lesson, there are a lot of practical stories and examples given for each day. There are also daily questions and things to consider. Sometimes I write those in my journal, too.

I love this book. I'm so excited for the opportunity to read it, and to be able to share it with you! Coffee for Your Heart is a great devotional for moms, or any woman who is busy, but still wants to spend time with the Lord every day. It's a great pick-me-up when you're down, and when you forget all the things God says about you and to you. I have this book in a galley form (meaning it's an ebook), but I'm really planning to buy a hard copy so that I can write and highlight the parts I like best.

Friends, I'm through letting Satan lie to me that I am not good enough, that I am not wanted and God doesn't have a plan for me. Holly does more than just tells me these truths, she also shows me through God's Word. Those promises are something I can't lose, and the devil can't take them from me. If you feel the same, I highly recommend Coffee for Your Heart.

When I'm finished with Coffee for Your Heart I will be buying another one of Hollye's books. Maybe You're Already Amazing, because, who doesn't need to hear that every once in a while? Have you read any of Holley Gerth's books? If so, what do you recommend?

I have enjoyed visiting Holley Gerth's blog and taking part in her "Coffee For Your Heart" blog linkup over the last 18 months or so and I have always found her writing encouraging and uplifting, so I was delighted to have the opportunity to read an advance copy of her latest devotional book.
The book consists of 40 daily readings, each focussing on a different truth that God speaks over us:
• You are accepted
• You are chosen
• You are empowered
• You are valuable
• You are victorious
Each chapter consists of a short reading which unpacks the truth for the day, followed by a Bible passage to read, some questions to reflect on to apply it to your life, the beginning of a prayer which you can complete yourself, and a section entitled "Remember" which is an encouragement to own and hold to the truth you have explored.
Holley's writing is warm, friendly and encouraging. At times I felt that I was sitting with her, over a cup of coffee, as she spoke truth into my life.
As we step out into the world, there are so many different voices talking over one another; there are so many people proclaiming different things over us by their words or actions. The truths in this book are a helpful way to start the day strong in the truth of who God is and our identity in him.
This book is a revised edition of a book previously published as "God's Heart For You."

Previously published as "God's Heart for You." "Coffee for Your Heart" is a 40-day devotional that encourages women using Scripture. The author looked at how we are accepted, forgiven, loved, chosen, free, secure, known, strong, beautiful, heard, His friend, His child, defended, guided, understood, valuable, victorious, pursued, comforted, supported, never alone, desired, and more.

Each day's devotional started with a verse, then the author talked about the verse and how it's come up in her life. For example, how we might struggle with feeling accepted and acceptable, but God accepts us. Or how we delight in our children (even though they aren't perfect), which helps us understand how God can delight in us. She included several reflection questions relating to the Bible verse and her commentary and a short, open-ended prayer (so you can personalize the prayer). She ended with a free-form poem reminding the reader of what you just learned.

Overall, this devotional left me feeling encouraged and closer to God. She made some excellent points. I intend to read this devotional again, and I'd highly recommend it.

A very well written devotional for women.

I received this ebook free from NetGalley.

This short book of devotions is explicitly aimed at female readers and is a re-issue of God's Heart for You.

Packed full of warmth and encouragement, this book aims to counter all the negativity we ingest, including our feelings of inadequacy and worthlessness, by reminding us of God's promises and love for us. It is divided into 40 sections, each beginning with a Bible verse, and ending with Reflect (another verse to meditate upon, and questions), Respond (a prayer with room for the reader's own personal praise/confession/requests etc) and Remember (this might be a poem or other concise piece of wisdom). Every day or section includes heart-warming encouragement such as: 'You're welcomed, held, cherished just as you are and encouraged to grow into all you'll become.'

Recommended.

Very clear and concise stories, with scriptures that were relevant to the chapter. This book was very good and I also liked the questions. To me this made me think deeper about what I had read and the scripture. This is a must have book for anyone, because it will bring comfort when needed. This is the first book I have read from the author but it will not be my last. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC of this book in return for my honest reveiw.
