The novel's central conflict—the return of a presumed-dead husband—is a high-stakes scenario with the potential for dramatic tension. Unfortunately, the author fails to capitalize on this opportunity. The reunion between Kate and Price, while initially shocking, quickly devolves into a series of implausible twists and turns. The characters' reactions often feel contrived and inconsistent, lacking the emotional depth necessary to engage the reader.
The novel's pacing is uneven, with long stretches of slow-burn romance interspersed with abrupt plot developments. The author's reliance on clichés, such as the brooding, mysterious hero and the long-lost love, hinders the story's ability to stand out. The dialogue, while occasionally witty, often falls flat, lacking the spark and chemistry that should characterize a passionate love affair.
It just didn't work for me.
Sorry for the delayed review. I have been working this year to catch up on my netgalley backlog. I appreciate the opportunity to read this story.
Misadventures of a Good Wife is a good fit for those seeking a heart-wrenching, emotional rollercoaster of a romance that explores the complexities of love, loss, and second chances.
Fun and sexy read, but not really my cup of tea. I think if you've read the other books then you will like this one.
Helen Hardt has become a one click author for me. There is nothing I won't read from her. Love fun and sexy? She is your girl!
A real page turner. The plot had a lot of twists and turns and you never knew what was coming! The connection between Kate and Price was undeniable. Good read!
Really badly written characters and a really bad plot. Lost all its believability when the plot twist was revealed.
I loved beyond words the Misadventures series! The banter & chemistry was off the charts!!! I laughed so much while reading Misadventures of a Good Wife!
I voluntarily reviewed this book.
I was not a big fan of the book. I did not enjoy the plot. I did not have any issues with the number of sex scenes, but there didn't seem too much thought put into the logic of the plot. I have enjoyed another misadventures book, but this one is not it.
This was a decent story and I somewhat enjoyed both the hero and the heroine, Price and Kate. However, nothing really stood out making it a great book.
I really wanted to get into this book but it just was not for me. it started off slow and was hard for me to get into. i was able to read about 3/4 of it before putting it down. i will try to get back into it another time.
Amazing. Totally hooked from page one ! You wont regret one clicking this title! Meredith Wild and Helen Hardt are always like fireworks on their own put them together writing one book and you have fire!
Nope! I really don't enjoy this series at all. The titles alone and cover should have told me to stay away, but I didn't listen.
Copy kindly received via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This has an interesting premise for a storyline - however I found myself 33% through the book and not much was happening yet apart from avoiding the topic at hand, and lots of sex. Not my kind of read right now.
I'm sure others will enjoy this, but it wasn't for me. The writing and writing style itself were good.
I'm beginning to think it's me. I just don't seem to click with these Misadventures books the way others are clicking. This story is okay.
Kate and Price experience a tragic event.
The story picks up a year later, after Price's death. That's not a spoiler, it's in the blurb. Kate is still trying to pick up the pieces, but what happens when Price strides back into her life--alive and well?!
Kate isn't sure how to handle it, Price just wants to get back to them.
But can love conquer that kind of betrayal? The kind of lies and games that have been played to keep them both alive?
Yeah, it isn't my bag either, but here we are.
Can’t tell you how different this books was. I had a time keeping up, but once I found the balance I was able to follow. Just took me longer than I thought
This book was just ok for me. I'm happy though that I got this opportunity. Will I continue reading more from this author? Yes just because this book was just ok doesn't mean I won't like her other books.
Thanks you
From the description of this book I was super intrigued, and unfortunately a lot of it fell flat for me. The writing was good, I feel like the characters could have been a little bit better developed. There is a suspenseful element to this book which made me happy. But I figured out the outcome long before the reveal which was disappointing to me.
Meredith Wild and Helen Hardt are one heck of a writer combo. They delivered a romance with twists and turns and hot. If you follow my reviews, you'll know that I'm not a big contemporary reader, however when it comes to Meredith Wild, she has the ability to add depth and a realness to each character she creates.
Suspense, mystery, twists and turns, heartbreak, secrets, danger, forgiveness, intense passion, lots of sex, and love... everything you want in a romance story.
