Such a fantastic story! 4.5 Stars!

I've been following the series of books and I finally got chance to read and review one of these stories. And what a great one I chose.

This book follows along the familiar story of the pretend to be my fianceé plot but with an added twist that made it unique and super enjoyable.

This is a fast-paced, not too long and not too short, book which I absolutely enjoyed. Not a lot of fluff; not a lot of filling conversation. Just get right down to it story with all of the hot, steamy love connection that we need in our lives.

Because of the fast pace of the book, it can be difficult to find a connection with the characters. However, the author did a marvelous job giving us a guy who was down to earth, loving, caring, but a little bit of a bad ass too.

I just loved how he was all in once they realized how fiery hot they could be together. His connection to his "fiancée" was written in such an amazing way that you almost felt like you were in the room with them. Sizzling.

I'm glad I got to check out this book. I love the concept of the series and definitely will be picking up more. These hot stories will get your heart pumping and your motor running. Just what we need for these cold nights.

Just Wow. Shayla Black has written a story that pulls you in gently, taking small pieces of your heart as you fall deeper into this amazing story.

Ella and Carson’s story flows with ease and the chemistry is off the charts. Sometimes in life all the words can be spoken but yet it means nothing and it takes a gesture no matter how small to be shown what you really mean to someone.

A story with hidden surprises, not everything is as it seems, moments you find yourself smiling and laughing and moments your heart simply melts

A stunning 5 star read.

Misadventures of a Backup Bride by Shayla Black was a delightful, steamy, and all consuming romance that I could not put down! From start to finish this book had me hooked in to everything I was reading with these characters, it gave me a story that was fast paced and worked so phenomenally well, and it gave me a reading experience that was fully enjoyable through every word. This story was well written, it was enrapturing as all get out, and it gave me a love story that made me blush and hit my heart in the same breath!

This is the first book that I have right by Shayla Black, but I know that it will not be the last. I absolutely loved her writing style. She made it so easy for me to fall right into the story with these characters, and I love how she let me feel and experience it all with them. Her effervescent writing gave me these characters, their personalities, their story, and it just gave me them. I loved that. I loved how I felt like I was living this book with them and it made this book even more enjoyable to read because of that.

What I loved about Misadventures of a Backup Bride was the premise of the story, how this author perfectly blended a story of steam and sexy with sweet and heartfelt, and how I just fell in love with these characters.

What you get with Carson and Ella as the story unfolds will melt your heart among other things, and will have you rooting for them! This story follows them as they see if a bargain and an agreement between them could lead to much more than either of them thought. Carson needs a bride. He's trying to save his family business, and he's trying to be a good guy who does the right thing. Ella is an actress who is trying to help Carson do just that. What starts off as the two of them agreeing to help each other out, soon find them falling hard and fast for each other. This story follows them through every twist and turn, through every high and low, and as these to try to see what could be with the very real and very heartfelt feelings that have grown between them.

What I loved about Carson was that he was so genuine and was a good guy trying to do the right thing for everyone involved. That pulled me into his character, and it seared me to him with what I got with him in the story. He was a man that completely stole my heart through every word that I got with him. Ella was a female character that I immediately connected to. She was real, she was sweet, and she was an independent woman ready to do what needed to be done. What she didn't expect was to fall for Carson so quickly and so deeply, but I loved that throughout all of those feelings she had for him, she was still smart and headstrong and not afraid to fight for what she wanted. I loved both of these character so much, and the way that Shayla Black makes them so real, so authentic, and so easy to love will have you rooting for them every step of the way!

This was another phenomenal addition to the Misadventures Series. This book had it all. It had the spark and fire between these characters that I could not get enough of. It had their love and the world a feeling that developed between them. It had a story that was unique and consuming. It had the writing that brought it all together, and I truly can't say enough how much I loved it! This was a well-written, fast-paced, and all-around phenomenal read. If you are looking for something quick and enjoyable, then run yourself to this amazing book this second!

It will make you blush and melt and you will love every single sweet and sultry second you get within its pages!

Misadventures of a Back up Bride was as quick, easy read. No girlfriend, no problem. But to find a girlfriend who will agree to "marry" you in two weeks may be a bit tough to find. Not to mention that you need to convince the competition who has agreed to help your and your newly inherited company out of bind. Once the wheels are set in motion it's hard not to cross the boundaries of the contact and even harder to no completely fall in love.

I bow down to the master story telling of Ms. Black. I adored this story from start to finish and couldn't help but root for Carson and Ella to make it "real." A funny, smart, well written story I couldn't put down.

A desperate man to save his company searching for a fake bride, oh yeah this one has interesting story.
It was supposed to be a fake relationship, but when the attractions is so deep and they're begin to feel more towards each other, everything become complicated.
I'm a bit dissapointed with the ending, but with all the smiles and laughters and some steamy moments, I really like this book.

As for characters. Love Ella and Carson. Their banters are my fav part in this book and I can feel the pull between them.

I love the story, I like the characters, so overall, I like this book.

“Hello. Ella Hope? I’d like to hire you to jilt me.”
I couldn’t possibly have heard that right.

In order to secure the funding he needs to keep the confectionary he inherited from his father in business, Carson Frost is forced to make a deal with his father’s rival and biggest competitor. To get the money, he simply has to marry the man’s daughter. With the wedding fast approaching, Carson gets cold feet and does the only thing he can think of to get out of it – admit that he is in love with another woman. Not buying his claims and hoping to call his bluff, Carson’s competitor/financier agrees he’ll still hand over the money if Carson agrees to marry this supposed woman he’s in love with. Ella Hope is a struggling actress in Los Angeles so when she gets a call from Carson, the handsome man she met at a party a few months earlier, she sees it as a way to earn a few month’s rent. And having to spend time pretending to be in a relationship with the charming and sexy Carson Frost is just an added bonus. Their relationship may be fake but their chemistry is very real and it doesn’t take long for things to heat up between the two. Will they be able to stick to the plan or will their newfound feelings toward one another throw a wrench in things?

'Hours of being near Carson Frost? Days of kissing him? Weeks of being “in love” with him, even if it’s only for show? Yes, please. '

This was another fun and sexy addition to the Misadventure series! As is true of these stories, this one is a fast-paced, sweet and hot romp that was quite fun to read. Carson and Ella’s attraction was instantaneous and the insta-love was soon to follow. Carson was stuck between a rock and a hard place when he called up Ella and enlisted her help. She was sweet and a good sport when it came to the ruse they were playing. They had great chemistry resulting in plenty of steamy scenes, I never knew bread pudding could be sexy, but Carson figured out a way to make it so! Even though things moved very fast, there was still plenty of heart and even a few surprises thrown in. If you’re looking for a quick and easy read that’s low in drama but high in fun then I would recommend checking out this latest misadventure!

“Everything’s changed, hasn’t it?”

It's very hard for me to be convinced when it comes to insta-love and I didn't buy it in this story. That's my only complaint about this book. I thought Carson and Ella had amazing chemistry but to be in love after four days is too far fetched for me. This would have been more believable if the story had been stretched out over a couple of months and I think that could have worked in this book. Other than that, it was very romantic and perfectly steamy. I liked the little twist at the end with Shaw. An epilogue a year or so into the future would have been nice too since this story takes place over the course of about two weeks.

4.5 Hot Stars This book had a different twist to the fake relationship genre. Carson the CEO of a billion dollar candy company needs a fake girlfriend to get rid of his real fiancee. He hires Ella, a Hollywood actress that he meet in the past when she had been dating his friend. His future father-in-law Gregory Shaw agreed to loan Carson the money he needs to save his company if he will marry his wayward daughter Kendra but the closer he gets to the big day he knows is needs to get himself out of this doomed marriage. Carson hopes that if he can prove he is in love with someone else Shaw will let him out of the marriage part of their agreement. Let the performance begin.

This book has many twists and turns. Things are not always what they seem. Be sure to read this creative romantic adventure. I think you will pleasurably surprised.

This was a wonderfully funny romance. As the title suggest it is about a fake bride who becomes a real bride. It was really well written with lots of hot sex scenes. The story moves at a great pace and the characters are very believable. Even though this is the forth book in the series, it can be read as a stand-alone story.

I am really enjoying all the books in the Misadventures series! The various authors and their stories are such a variety and it's all very entertaining. Ms. Black's story of the backup bride is romantic and funny!

Carson Frost inherited a candy company from his late father that he never really knew growing up so he was surprised by the inheritance. However, the company is in dire need of cash to pay off debts even though the company is profitable. There is obviously a cash flow issue so Carson makes a deal with his competitor to get a loan - Carson has to give up a percentage of his company and marry the man's daughter! Carson tries to get along with his fiancee but there's an age difference (8 years) and he feels that she's just not ready for marriage!

As the wedding gets close, Carson gets cold feet and decides to lie and tell his future father in law that he can't marry his daughter because he is in love with someone else! His future father in law wants proof so Carson hires Ella Hope (a woman he had met and was attracted to once when she came to a party with his friend!) to play his fiancee!

Ella Hope remembers Carson from the only time that they met and she knows she's attracted to him. Ella needs the money to help pay off expenses and since she wasn't getting any parts in her acting career currently, she decides to take Carson up on his offer.

When Ella and Carson meets face to face, there is instant chemistry between them. This of course makes their fake romance a lot easier. As they get to know each other, Ella and Carson falls for each other for real but since everything is so new they are not sure if they are ready for a real future together. However, Carson's future father in law forces both Carson and Ella to make decisions about their future together with some threats of his own regarding Carson's company and the loan that Carson needs. Carson and Ella has to decide if they are ready to go through with the terms of agreement that Carson's competitor has laid out for them.

This instant attraction and romance between Ella and Carson is such a lighthearted read and is very entertaining with how they go about their fake romance. Loved them both!

5 A Quick But Passion Filled Read Stars!!!

I'm loving the Misadventures Series and this latest installment by Shayla Black is SMOKING HOT!! Imagine having to come up with a bride very quickly and getting her to leave you at the altar all so you can save your company. This is the premise of this book and it's so good!!!

Carson is a man that will do just about anything to save his candy company, even if it means getting hitched. The problem is there's no girlfriend, no friends that are girls or anyone he knows that's willing to take the proverbial plunge with our Hero. Enter Ella Hope, a woman that is just who Carson has been looking for....let the fun times begin!

She has a way of drawing me into the story, this time with a tenderness and story that nudged its way into my heart, just like Ella did with Carson and I adored every word. There's some major heat between our H/h and they can't stop themselves from taking advantage of their matrimonial status!

Have you ever wondered if love at first sight really exist? What about true love over time never fades or that all time favorite Love is Blind. Are there any merits in those quotes? Misadventures of a Backup Bride will have you giggling and wondering about all these questions.

Carson is an ambitious businessman thrust into an industry he has limited knowledge of. To support this venture he enters into a business arrangement. As the reality of what he has done settles in, reservations creep in, yet with his “jewels” in that very tight noose, he is not sure how to separate certain provisions from the rest of the deal.

Ella is a starving artist, looking to make ends meet. A paying gig that had the potential to cover expenses for the foreseeable future brings her into contact with Carson. This was supposed to be a simple gig, but at times she is left wondering if she can really do as he ask. Her goal, purpose,. and limitations have been clear since their first conversation. Yet, with them working so closely, sometimes goals and purposes are skewed by the heart.

As Carson and Ella maneuver their social and business calamity, how they bond is nothing short of amazing. They discover they really do work well as a team, and I found myself cheering them on with each page turned.

Misadventures of a Backup Bride is a great story of an unexpected past encounter where neither party really forgot the other, and how sometimes there are indeed second chances. Loved this book and happily give it five (5) stars.

MISADVENTURES OF A BACKUP BRIDE is the fourth installment in the multi-authored MISADVENTURES anthology series of novellas. This is billionaire, candy company owner and CEO Carson Frost, and actress Ella Hope’s story line. Each installment in the MISADVENTURES series is a stand alone, and can be read in any order.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Ella and Carson) MISADVENTURES OF A BACKUP BRIDE follows the fake relationship between billionaire owner of Sweet Darlin’ Candy Company Carson Frost, and struggling Hollywood actress Ella Hope. With the recent death of his biological father Carson Frost became the sole owner and proprietor of the Sweet Darlin’ Candy Company-a company over extended on funds, and struggling to survive. When Gregory Shaw, his competition and rival at Dulce Lama makes an offer Carson cannot refuse, our hero finds himself engaged to a woman (Kendra Shaw) he does not love. Enter Ella Hope, Hollywood actress, and the woman Carson hires to be the woman he truly loves. What ensues is the insta-lust/love relationship between Ella and Carson, and the potential fall out when Gregory Shaw get wind of the ruse, and forces our hero to go through with a different set of wedding plans.

MISADVENTURES OF A BACKUP BRIDE is a story of one man’s desperation to save his father’s business, and one woman who struggles with a future originally designed for someone else.

The relationship between Carson and Ella is one of instant attraction. Our couple previously met six month earlier but since haven’t spoken to one another. The author quickly reveals some of the individual backstory and history of our leading couple, as well as Ella’s struggle between her head and her heart. The $ex scenes are numerous, erotic and provocative.

MISADVENTURES OF A BACKUP BRIDE is a fast paced, spirited and energetic novella. The premise is engaging but predictable; the romance is passionate; the characters are charming and inspiring.

FULL DISCLOSURE: There’s really no Shayla Black book I won’t read. I’ve paid ridiculous amounts of money for them sometimes because the woman delivers. Her story-telling skills are always realistic fiction. That means they could happen. It’s real. She may be spinning a fictional tale, but she makes sure that tale is realistic and relatable.

She did an outstanding job with Misadventures of a Back Up Bride. Not only did I feel Carson and Ella’s real attraction, but I felt their progression to love even more. I believed it. It was a very well thought out and unfolded plot. There were no holes. The good and the bad were entwined into the story and it made me very happy to read. I was rooting for these two from the very beginning.

One of the best things I liked about this book is the characters anxiety and trepidation about how fast their relationship was moving. Their insecurities about their fast-paced journey were written into the story. That’s realistic fiction. That’s how you write a proper love story that spans mere days. That’s how you make the reader believe in the love that forges in mere days. Because nothing that happens that quickly is all hearts and flowers … that’s Fantasy Land and I for one don’t care to read that. So excellent job with this journey! If you’re new to this author, I think this is one of the best books you could pick up today by her. However, there’s not too many I wouldn’t sing really high praises about so there’s that! LOL

I admit, I am a sucker for the fake bride then the couple falls in love type of stories and Misadventures of a Backup Bride is a great addition to this trope. This is a quick, fun, witty, steamy romance. Carson and Ella had an insta-connection when they first met so who else would Carson consider asking? But, when the fun and flirty begins to feel more real than fake, will they be able to stay with the original plan?
This is a quick, fun, witty, steamy romance with some crazy twists that keep you flipping the pages until the very end.

I really wanted to love it
3 stars

Oh, I really, really wanted to love this book. It’s just my cup of tea - a cute premise forcing our couple together - who realise just at the right moment that this fake relationship has turned into the real thing. It’s a tried and tested story trope but it’s one that I can happily read again and again.

The story started off well. I’m not familiar with Shayla Black’s previous work but in this book I found her writing to be refreshing, fun and its flow made for an easy and light read. Both Carson and Ella were interesting characters - I liked both of them, believed in their chemistry and enjoyed reading about their lives.

But…I just couldn’t believe in the pair’s love. I can suspend reality with the best of them - witches, superheroes and even some ridiculous coincidences - I’m game for it! In this case Ella met Carson once for 10 minutes, met him again, went for a quick dinner, fell into bed with him, spent a weekend in bed with him and she’s suddenly declaring her love for him and trying to figure out how to rearrange her whole life to be with him. And Carson is exactly the same. I mean pardon me what now? Calm down, folks!

Because of this ridiculously premature declaration, it really put the story on a different path for me. I felt it turned quite juvenile at that point and took the shine off the sex scenes. Yes, there was sex. Yes, it was sexy - but it lost the newness and excitement of a new, somewhat forbidden relationship, as soon as they both said ‘I love you’. If Carson and Ella had just pretended to be engaged and then realised at the end that they had fallen in love with each other, it might have been more obvious, but it would have made for, in my opinion, a more believable and well-rounded story.

Everything came together in the end - quite conveniently in some cases - but I did feel that if the characters were already in love by page 10 (slight exaggeration), any happily ever after would be just a little bit dubious.

It’s such a shame because I had such high hopes for this story. Hopefully this was just a weird quirk of mine and others will love the story. If you’re reading through the Misadventures series, this is still worth a shot as the writing was good and the storyline was cute and fun. Only 3 stars from me but I still want folk to try it and hopefully love it as much as I wanted to.
