I completely failed to connect with any of the characters.
At the time I requested this for reviewing, I didn't realise that this was the third in a series, which may have contributed to the lack of connection - ie: coming too late to the party (and not for the first time).
Maybe when releasing books in a series for review, it might be apt to state that it is XX in a series - then this gives the reader the chance to either jump in or pass.
Max Maguire, NYPD and her father Hank, retired NYPD are visiting wine country outside of Paris. Oliver has invited them to meet his family. Murders take place rather rapidly and many are suspect . Lucy Kendrick, an American girl has come to work the vines and disappears, only to go missing. While the NYPD trace the girl to a mental hospital in the states the French police ask them not to be involved. Of course, as in fiction, they get very involved.
Family secrets, family land and inheritance as well as modern day drug use and a touch of romance keep the reader moving through the pages.
The reader will also learn a great deal about the French wine business and the business surrounding it. French phases as usually repeated in English so it has that touch of France.
More than a cozy mystery but one that will keep the reader happy as they catch clues to solve the murders.
