I really liked the voice and tone of this book; it really grabbed me when I started, but then it really slowed down. There was too much time spent with each of them thinking they couldn't be together. Once Lia and Max finally got together, I wasn't sure what else could happen in the book. I thought it was odd after that they had sex after they went home from the hospital after the baby broke her arm. If they felt that guilty, it didn't seem like the time to start a physical relationship. I respected Lia's decision to take a job away from Max, but it seemed too easy for him to be able to join her - didn't he pay rent for his new building?

The Right Kind of Reckless is closer to Young Adult romance then I expected. Or maybe it's just that Lia and Max are not as mature and set in their lives yet. Max is so dead set on keeping Lia in the friend zone until Lia says one sentence to him. Then it's no holding back their feelings for each other. I like the closeness that Max, Collin and Gavin share.

Please note: I received a copy of THE RIGHT KIND OF RECKLESS from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to the publisher and author.
Five stars and here’s why:
Holy hotness! I loved it. Couldn’t put it down! This is my first book by Heather Van Fleet and I can’t wait to go purchase her earlier books and read those, too! This is a second book a series, but you don’t have to read the first book to fully appreciate this one.
This is friends to lovers and falling for a brother’s best friend rolled into one hella-hot romance. **swoons** I love a strong female character and Lia doesn’t disappoint. Max is just the kind of guy a girl dreams about – he’s caring, attentive, and smart enough to play his cards right to win the girl. If you love romance with a side of sexy and an adorable scene-stealing baby, this book is for you.

4.5 Stars A heart-warming addition to the Reckless Hearts series, The Right Kind of Reckless is a great read. Lia and Max are great character who know what they want but need to address the obstacles in their way. This book had me hooked from the start and I look forward to reading more of this fabulous series

After Reckless Hearts I was already eagerly awaiting the next part, hoping it would be about Gavin or Max. (See my review of Reckless Hearts here). Because there was already something brewing between Lia (Collin's brother) and Max. But it was unclear why there was so much tension between them.
The story picks up right after where Reckless Hearts has ended with Collin and Addison getting together. Of course, there's also still cute little Chloe, who is getting a little bigger now (and talking, ahhhhwwww). Maxwell and Gavin are still helping out Collin in raising Chloe, which still creates some hilarious situations.
Max is definitely the most charming character of the three guys. He is the knight in shining armour... However: Lia is not the damsel in distress who wants to be rescued... So she basically tells Max to take a hike with his steed and she will be the tough chick who saves herself. But in reality this is just a protection of Lia as a reaction to previous encounters with the opposite sexes, so Max has his job carved out to get through the thick walls Lia is creating around her heart. Their banter is hilarious as well as the situations they get into.
Gavin is the more broody guy, who gets more mysterious throughout the book. So I'm very curious about the last part of the series as well!
This books makes you swoon, cry, laugh and it warms your heart. So definitely five out of five stars from me. And I'm rooting for team Gavin!!!
With a special thank you to Sourcebooks Casablanca and Netgalley for providing the arc.

Second book in the Restless Hearts series. Collin’s sister, Lia, who we saw as a flighty, hardcore girl, in the first book, is shown here as a broken girl who was attacked by the “nice” guy she was dating in college and almost raped. Before that incident, she was a nice, sweet and shy girl. After the incident, she dropped out from college, hid in her parent’s house for a while, then went out to work menial jobs. She changed her personality and her appearance. Now she sports a lot of piercings and tattoos and hot pink hair. She assumed a new personality, snarky and hardass, but deep inside remains the same sweet girl. She just keeps her hidden very deep. She’s always loved Max but kept her distance because he’s her brother’s best friend. Likewise, Max has always been in love with her, but kept his distance, interacting only as best buds, so as not break the bro code.
During the book, we see Max acting as her protector various times, as she works in a bar. She protests and tries to keep him away, because she gets jealous when he flirts with other girls. There is a lot of back and forth between them as their attraction runs hot and they do the impossible to resist.
Meanwhile, Lia has been finishing her studies, paying for them from the couple of jobs she has, as a barista in Java Java and a bartender in a Jimney’s. Her plans are to get a teaching job, which means moving from her little town where jobs are scarce. As she and Max get closer, her professional plans complicate matters.
Max was also dealing with his meaningless life. He, Collin, and Gavin had enlisted in the Marines and finished their round of duty. Now Max doesn’t know what he wants to do. He had inherited a big chunk of money from his father’s life insurance, so he had no immediate need for money, and was working at odd jobs, not keeping the jobs for long. He was accusing Lia of living an aimless life and she accused him of the same.
I liked in this book that the rest of the gang appear again as strong secondary characters. Lia’s brother Collin and his girlfriend, Addie, Collin’s adorable little daughter Chloe, and Gavin. Also Collin’s and Lia’s parents, and Max’s family appear less frequently. I like the strong family and friends group, their constant support to each other. What we saw as flighty in Lia was really that she was studying and working and was scattered in several directions. She was very devoted to her little niece. There was a lot of introspection and growing up for both Max and Lia.
What didn’t work for me was the constant back and forth between Lia and Max, which made the book drag a little halfway through.

What a great book and a great series! My favorite part about this book is that Max and Lia know they are meant to be together, but have to figure out how to get there. They both have demons and obstacles to face, but never second-guess their love.
Friends to lovers stories always grip my heart, and THE RIGHT KIND OF RECKLESS is no exception. I highly recommend for people who enjoy a sexy, steamy, contemporary romance. When you find a book written by an amazing author, with a swoonworthy hero, a quirky, adorable heroine, an overbearing brother, and an adorable baby, you know you can't go wrong. So read and enjoy! You can thank me later :)

I love friends to lovers stories. This is a sweet story and Max definitely has it bad for Lia. Ditto for her, too. I would prefer a bit more maturity in the characters (such as Max needs a stable job). Starting off with Lia getting arrested was definitely an attention- getter for me!

Van Fleet has carried forward this second book in the trilogy about three Army vets finding love really well. In the first book, she set up both Lia and Max as good secondary characters in the romance between Collin and Adi. In this book, they are figuring out their own paths in life while trying to deal with their passion for each other, with all its conflict and misunderstandings.
I connected more with the MC, Lia, in this one. Her character had more depth to it in some ways, because of all she had to deal with as she faced Max's unconditional love, and I loved all the descriptions of her hair and tats. It was also fun getting to see Colly and Adi again, along with getting to know Gavin a little more.
It has some steamy moments in it that build as the book moves forward, just as with #1, and it looks like Gavin's story will blow the lid off that aspect of things. If you like hot and heavy books with a HEA, this is the series for you.

"The Right Kind of Reckless" was just as good as Reckless Hearts, if not better, in my opinion! I fell in love with little Chloe in the the first book and absolutely adore her in this one -- especially now that she's learning to talk....;) The characters are so real that I want to be best friends with all of them. These are very emotional, heartfelt reads -- steamy, sexy, swoony. You become invested in all of the characters, not just the main characters, but the entire "family" as a whole. There are issues and some angst, but just enough without being over the top. I loved both books and can't wait to read Gavin's story next!

Oh my goodness, I was so excited to jump back into the Reckless Hearts series!!!!
The Right Kind of Reckless centers around Max and Lia (Collin's best friend and sister). The two have always danced around their chemistry, but never truly acted on it because of the fact that Max is Lia's brother's best friend. Well fresh off a break-up, Lia now more than ever thinks Max is the knight and shining armor she's dreamed of, but there is one problem....he's a notorious ladies man. What Lia doesn't realize is that Max only has eyes for her and no one else even comes close to comparing. Can the two finally get on the same page?!!? Will Collin freak out if his best friends dates his sister?!!?? I really enjoyed what Heather Van Fleet had in mind for them!!!!
This romance novel had sweetness, steaminess and lots swoony moments!! You can read The Right Kind of Reckless as a standalone, but I highly encourage you read the first novel (Reckless Hearts) first. I loved started this book already knowing the main characters (they were supporting characters in the first book) because I already felt invested in Lia and Max! I thought Heather Van Fleet did a great job with the storyline and flow! Of course I loved catching up with ALL of the characters and I am excited for the next installment (Recklessly Ever After)!! The Right Kind of Reckless is a 4.5 star read and I encourage everyone to 1-click it!!

After reading the first book in the series, I didn't think I could feel a more emotional attachment then to Collin and Addie...but Max and Lia upped by emotional attachment quota.
The way the author brought Max and Lia together...drawn out as it was, created the perfect storm that drew you into their story. Where Collin and Addie's story was more lighthearted, Max and Lia's had a measure of darkness to it. There were many memorable moments of self discovery that brought the story to a different level of healing and acceptance.
You just know that Gavin's story will be amazing, his isolation and sense of detachment to those around him, will make for the perfect end to the series of the three brothers, not through blood, but circumstances.
This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

This is book 2 in the series. I LOVED book 1 and this story continues the story started in the first book with Addie and Collin and baby Chloe. In this story the stars are Collins best friend Max and his sister Lia who are in love with the other but who both think the other just sees them as friends.
What I did not like in this book is that Max and Lia are dating/having sex with other people at teh start of the book. Luckily we don't see much of it. But there is a lot in what I call part 1 of the story, where the two don't realise they are in love with the other and so there is a lot of angyst.
All in all this is a well written story. I really loved the first book because it was light and fun and sweet. This book is heavy on the angyst and is not light and fun. Max and Lia each have their own issues and demons. They also are both immature in that they sorta shiftless job wise at the start of the story.
This story is not only about them finding love but finding themselves and their future. I really enjoyed it and cannot wait for book 3.
