Thank you for providing a copy of The Hook Up by Tawna Fenske. I initially took a break from it, intending to return later, as I couldn't get into it at the time. Unfortunately, I’ve since lost interest in revisiting it. I appreciate the opportunity and look forward to exploring future titles that align more with my current reading preferences.

I have LOVED author Tawna Fenske’s First Impressions series and her latest release, The Hook Up, is quite possibly my favorite. Two people in very different places in their lives, with very different expectations about home, hearth, love and family find themselves undeniably attracted to one another in this funny, smart, sweet, and sensual story.

To say Tyler Hendrix and Ellie Sanders get off on a usual foot is putting it mildly, and they’d both so totally be snickering about my “get off” remark. Tyler works with Ellie’s sister in law and has agreed to give her some ideas on how to expand her business as well as renting out space for her parties and demonstrations, what Tyler isn’t aware of is Ellie’s business is Madam Butterfly, an adult toy company.

From the moment these two meet there is a spark even when they are clearly not discussing the same thing, but I loved that neither one got shy or stammered when they realized the mistake and more than that I enjoyed watching their interactions. Tyler has some big time hang-ups about long term relationships, love, family, and children stemming from a less than stellar childhood. Ellie is a single parent to a precocious and outspoken 5 year old who by the say is a total scene stealer. I enjoyed watching them going from friendship, to a “fling” to a relationship even with all their ups and downs because that is what real life is like. People develop feelings, they over think, they make mistakes, and they eventually either move on or figure it out.

I loved every step these two (well in all honesty three) took together, their candid conversations, the humor, the affection, the good times and the bad because it made for a delightful, sensual, and fun romance.

Like all of Fenske's book, this one did not disappoint in humor or heat. Who knew fixing a kitchen sink could be sexy? Ty is a marvelous, badass marshmallow of a hero (totally my type, as that's the kind of guy I married) who wants SO BADLY to be a good guy and believes he's not because Reasons. It's wonderful to see him fall for shero Ellie (sister of hero Jason from Book 2 in this series) and her boy Henry--and screw it all up because he doesn't think he's what's best for them. Very satisfying conclusion. Two thumbs up. (Reviewed June 20, 2017)

The was a good read. The writing flowed well, and I liked Ty and Ellie together. Ty was a good guy, and he was very hard on himself. I knew what Ty was going to do before his dad ever showed up. Ellie was a good h, and I liked that she stood up for her son. There wasn't a whole lot of drama in this book, but it was sweet. Henry was super cute, even with his habit of talking about things that are normally not talked about in public :) If you're looking for a light, quick read, this is for you.

Ellie is a single mother with a booming business and she meets Ty when he helps her with marketing tips. So they start working toh+gether on several projects together. Ty is hot and Ellie has not felt so strong attraction ever so she goes over her normal side and tries to seduce Ty. Ty is at first fighting their attraction because he doesn't need complication but after spending time together he surrender to attraction, and soon it becomes more. But Ty's upbringing makes him insecure and he needs time to see that he is a truly great guy who will not ruin everything.

I haven't read the first two books in the First Impressions series but I'm bumping them to the top of my TBR and reading them ASAP!

This book pulled me in and I finished it in one sitting. These characters are funny and their first meeting had me crying laughing. I loved the interactions and Elle's son Henry definitely stole the show. I can't wait to go back and read the other books in this series!

After a very unusual meet-cute, Ty and Ellie are off to a wildly entertaining start! He offers her marketing tips in exchange for her doing commercial video voice-overs. Both have very different ideas about home and family, and are if different places in life. As they spend more and more time together, they find they actually have a lot in common! Attraction to one another is undeniable so they embark on a hook-up plan.
I enjoyed the journey both of these characters took. Ty has major hang-ups about relationships and children. Ellie is a single mom raising a precocious child. It was interesting to see the transformations as they navigate a friends with benefits to a relationship. Even with a rollercoaster of a ride, it is either worth it or not. I am glad they were able to figure it out by talking it through. A fun romantic read!

Fun, sweet and sexy read!

This is another fabulous, funny book from Tawna Fenske. The book grabs you within the first few chapters with Ellie and Ty’s meet cute where the amount of misunderstanding is fantastic and hilarious. It’s probably best not to read this book in public, as you’re very likely to be laughing out loud! And Ellie’s son Henry is adorable! Great characters, a plot that moves along and a highly enjoyable, highly recommended book!

A fun, quick romance that is a nice addition to the First Impressions series.

The plot moves at a fast clip, and while I wish a few parts had been fleshed out more it is overall a great story. I liked Ellie and Ty a lot, but Ellie's son Henry stole the show. The scenes with him and Ty are especially cute!

This book hooked me from that very first conversation about bawling balls that cracked me up and had to read it right to the end!
Even this is the third instalment of the series it is first book ever from Tawna Fenske and I have no idea how did that happen! She jumped right on my list of writers that I have to read.
It is one very likable book with great characters and story that will make you laugh out loud right from the start... it was definitely case with me.
I totally enjoyed from the first chapter until the end and just because I don't like to spoil someone's reading experience I will just say...it made my day and I can't wait to find the authors other books to read them right away!

Ellie nd Tyler we’re definitely fun, which is expected from a Taiwan Fendke book. Henry pretty much stole the book, and it was a good read.

Ellie is a single mom working in "sales." No, she's not a stripper. Or in that kind of sales. Well not really. She sells passion products online. Ty is a partner in First Impressions, specializing in video. Seems like a match made in heaven. But will their pasts come to haunt their present and cut off any shot at a future?

Ellie is raising her six year old son with the help of her brother and his wife. With her son just recently deemed "cancer free," she's wanting to start taking control back of her life. Her deadbeat ex is making that harder with his plea to pay even less child support and spend even less time with their son. Her brother wants to fix everything for her and always "be there" but that's part of the problem. The one who's supposed to be there isn't and the one who is there won't let her be!

Ty is footloose and fancy-free. At least now he is. Growing up, he was raised by his grandmother when his dad was in jail until she passed away. Then he bounced around from foster home to foster home, none ever sticking. So he avoids all hints of commitment and anything really resembling being tied to something. Because that "something" will always leave you. Either that or he's just not worth it. In either case, he knows he's not good enough for someone as awesome as Ellie/ That doesn't stop his brain from conjuring all kinds of inappropriate images and scenes! Some of those include those passion products she sells, too.

Can two people with so much baggage, so much history.. can they put that all aside and make a go of it? Can they do a simple "Hook Up" without complications? Or is it true that there will always be complications when sex is involved?

With the blurb aside, I have to say that while I truly liked this story, I didn't LOVE it the way I do most of Tawna's books. First off, I read this immediately following The Hang Up, so the issue of the time error really made it hard for me to reconcile the two. The end of Hang Up should basically be the beginning of Hook Up, time wise--based on what's written. ***SPOILER ALERT*** But Miriam finishes a Tough Mudder competition and gets engaged to Jason at the end of Hook Up. And at the beginning of Hook Up, they're married and Miriam's massively pregnant. I just kept going back to those facts and it made it harder to fall into the story.

But that was basically the only thing I didn't love about this story. The characters are great. True to form, Tawna introduces us to a quirky but lovable couple trying to figure out if they can make it work. What starts off as just heat needing to be let out--kind of like a pot with the vent lid switched to open--has the chance to become something more. Something better. But will Ellie forget about comparing every guy to her ex and actually let someone in? Will Ty let his past dictate his future? Or will they get past the Hook Up and make it real? These are legitimate questions every single parent deals with when trying to put their toe back into the dating world. Few want to leap right back into those shark infested waters. It's scary to introduce a new person into your child's life. But then, on the flip side, your child is the most important person in your life and anyone you bring into the mix HAS to be good to your kid too. So when do you stop bringing a friend and actually bring your "other"?

As far as Ty goes, I know a lot of people who have been in or around the foster care system. They all say how hard it is to trust someone after that experience. After the shuffling around and being yanked from one home to be tossed into another. The inconsistency and false promises. It takes a toll on the kids. So his fears of letting Henry down are valid and noble really.

I give this story 4 out of 5 stars because that's really what it is. Maybe not the best Tawna Fenske book I've read. Maybe not the best-best book I've read. BUT it is a fun summer read that will make you feel for the characters and give you a reprieve from the mundane occurrences in your every day life for the 1-3 hours it would take you to finish it. The words flow as quickly and easily--just like The Fix Up and The Hang Up. Days and weeks pass on the pages, but again---it never has the feeling of being a FORCED story.

If you are going to read the other three books in this series, go ahead. They are fun and light and enjoyable. But you don't NEED to or HAVE to in order to be able to enjoy the story. That's another fun tidbit: This is a totally stand alone story. It's like it's the only child and Fix Up and Hang Up are its cousins. There's some relation there and it's good to know about it. But the success of one isn't going to hinge on your being familiar with the other.

The Hook Up by Tawna Fenske was a great read. Ellie has a booming career at Madame Butterfly pleasure aids. She meets Tyler to take her business to the next level. I loved reading Ellie and Tyler's story.

What do you have when you mix scorching chemistry, laugh out loud funny, and a charming kid? The winning trifecta that is this book--The Hook Up--that's what!

Great read. Fast paced. Well written. Strong characters.

What a wonderful read. I laughed, I teared up a bit...part of the makings of a good book. Ty meets Ellie when she meets with him to get some business advice, prior to using his conference room for a product party. He gets her confused with another customer which leads to some pretty fun laughs as he's talking bowling balls and she's think pleasure aids.

This story flowed nicely. Fenske has you rooting for Ty, no matter what he thinks of himself as a person. You have good character development - not just in the main characters of Ty, Ellie, and Henry but also their family and friends. You're not left wondering what happened to anyone or losing your place in the story.

This is the 3rd book in a series. I've not read the other two, but now I really want to!

Please note, that I did receive an advance reader's copy of this book in exchange for a review from NetGalley. And I'm glad it gets to be a positive one!

I'm a big Tawna Fenske fan if you haven't noticed yet, and The Hang Up is another one of her adorably quirky romances filled with witty dialogue and fun characters you can't help but love.

Miriam is a force of nature in her buttoned up and perfectly coordinated life. She's successful in running her own PR firm, but unfortunately that leaves her with very little time in the romance department. This all changes when faced with Jason Sanders outside her house. At first she believes the man to be homeless, but then she quickly finds out that appearances can be deceiving with a little help from her cat. Little does she know just how true that can be when she is also sitting across from him in her conference room and he's the new CEO of her largest account.

Jason has put his social life on hold to help his sister with his sick nephew. He even gave up his successful business to make sure they are closer to his doctors, so romance just isn't in the cards when his plate is already overflowing. As the new CEO, a job which fits him about as well as an uncomfortable suit, he's expected to bring his magic to an already struggling company with the help of the sexy girl from down the street. You know...the one he hasn't been able to get his mind off since their encounter.

Sparks fly instantly with these two and the chemistry is undeniable. It was entertaining to see them both break free of their shells, and I loved the way it was an opposites attract type situation. Overall, I think anyone who enjoys a good romantic comedy will love this book. It had just the right amount of light-hearted, sexy romance with laugh out loud moments to make it a thoroughly enjoyable read.

This is such a cute book! I loved Ellie and Ty. They both wanted something simple, he never wanted to have a relationship with a mother, so he tried to avoid his attraction to Ellie, but he just couldn't. Ellie had such a disastrous divorce that she never wanted a real relationship past a fling again. Things have away of changing. Henry was super cute.
