This was a fairly good title and I bought several copies for our library system. It circulated well at only a few library branches though.
When you're ready to tackle your sleep issues from all sides, this is the book for you. This book is packed with suggestions. You could do all of it surely, nothing is too difficult, or you could pick and choose what works for you, but I would definitely go back and re-read this book to see if different techniques call to you at different times.
Sleep is important to the mind and body. This book provides holistic ways to improve sleep. This is a great step help book for anyone struggling with sleep. It is a great meditation if even if you do not struggle with sleep.
I have heard some of the advice before but found original material to make it a worthwhile read.
I received this galley from NetGalley.
I enjoyed this interesting and comprehensive book from Tzivia Gover.
I enjoyed the meditations and breathing exercises and loved the "beditations”.
I have since purchased a paperback copy of this book for myself and a friend.
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.
This novel has many interesting and, what seems to be, successful techniques to increase the chances of having a good night's sleep. The discussion of mindfulness and yoga are mentioned. There is a great deal of time spend on dreams and the attention that should be given to them. The author suggests having a dream journal to keep track of your dreams and what they are about. Tzivia Gover does a very nice job of encouraging the readers to take better care of themselves by studying sleep and reading this novel carefully. Gover reminds the reader that we spend on-third of our life sleeping so why aren't we paying attention to this important part of our day.
I would recommend this book to others. It is an insightful and well done self help novel about a Good Night's Sleep.

This is a wonderful sleep companion for any kind of dreamer or insomniac. The author uses a creative and informative way to improve the sleep hygiene of the reader.
This book has lots of suggestions for achieving better sleep, put together in a nice comprehensive package. Even for people without big sleep issues, it is good to know the habits to promote good sleep -- turning off electronics, de-stressing, etc.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley to read in exchange for a fair review. I really enjoyed this book and have put many of the ideas from the book into practice and have noticed a significant to me improvement in my sleep and I do feel that continuing with the practices in the book my sleep may improve even more. It's not an instant fix but most things are not and I do recommend trying this book if you like I do have sleep difficulty.
I appreciate that this book takes a scientific and mindful approach to subject matter that affects far too many people. I think it provides a decent amount of basic information in a way that is easy to read and understand.
This is a lovely and well presented book which would be a great present. Unfortunately for me I had already done most of the tips in this book and didn't learn too much more. I'm not one for journalling thoughts so that part of the book did not appeal to me.
If you are looking to give someone good advice about sleep then this is the book to give them. Well laid out and nicely written.
This a valuable and helpful self help book about improving your sleep habits. I found the authors suggestions easy to follow and incorporate into my routine. I suggest following her lead and your sleep will improve adding to your overall life. The journaling and mindfulness is always a good practice and works. I improved my sleep after reading this book by adding hours I was missing . It truly works and I highly recommend this book.
THE MINDFUL WAY TO A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP by Tzivia Gover, Director of the Institute for Dream Studies, offers some workable and useful information in order to sleep more deeply. Gover writes, "This isn't simply a book to read. This is a book to do." From there, she advocates trying just some of the exercises and writing prompts – keeping what works and moving on from the rest. In various sections, such as one titled "create your sleep sanctuary," she offers suggestions about getting comfortable, using soothing scents and light reading to promote restful sleep. In addition, there are several methods for incorporating mindfulness (being grateful as you make your bed each day or washing away worries and regrets when brushing your teeth or following some of the breathing exercises). We have been doing some mindfulness exercises at school and I can see possibly incorporating some of these (like the quietest sound, p. 53). If you are looking for sleep help, you may already be aware of several of her ideas and a significant portion of the book is devoted to dreams, with suggestions for keeping a dream journal and for understanding dream language. The final section is about waking up well; throughout her book, Gover includes quotes like Rainer Maria Rilke's "Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves."
I received this book free from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This book was a little hit and miss for me. A lot of it I found was things I could look up on the internet if I wanted but it was handy having it all together. The books layout was really beautiful and I liked that it wasn't just pages and pages of paragraphs. My favourite pages were the ones with quotes, some seemed more relevant than others but the images were stunning. The whole feel of the book exudes calm.
I tried a few of the exercises and did find I was sleeping better. I am a sleep talker and will often have a conversation and not remember any of it. With this book I find I've been doing it less.
I also feel like I learned a lot about the science behind sleep, and really took an interest in the information about dreaming, adding this to the book I personally loved. It made me feel like I was understanding why sleep and taking part in these exercises could be beneficial to me.
A really short and easy book to help you learn and improve your sleep habits if you so wish.
3/5 stars
As this book was not available in Kindle format I had to use Aldiko which has an expiry date for books and this book expired before the publication date so I am unable to read it. If you can resend it to me I will read it.
I really liked the first part of the book. The one about how to mindful go to sleep. I have a head that imagine all different scenarios right before I should go to sleep, preventing me from going to sleep peacefully and when I want. There was definitely some technics that I am going to try out.
The second part of the book was the largest and devoted to dreaming. I wished it would have focused some more on insomnia, troubles about waking up or the fact that people suffer from night terrors. I would love to learn to deal with those problems.
In the end there was a small part about waking up. That part could have had a lagrer part of the book, taking some spase from the dream section. All in all I liked the book, it is one I would liked to have at my night stand. There are some things I feel the book is missing and things it could take out, but it is still one of the better books I read about improving my sleep.
This book caught my eye because my overwhelming anxiety has greatly affected the quantity and quality of sleep that I have been getting. The Mindful Way to a Good Night's Sleep appealed to me for its approach to sleep. I have been using yoga, exercise, and journaling, but never tried meditation and dreamwork.
Grover has organized The Mindful Way to a Good Night's Sleep into short chapters which easily lend themselves to a calming, relaxing short read as you unwind before bed. There are many physical and mental exercises that can be employed immediately. This is a great book to own and keep on your night stand to read, and reread, a little of each night.
Sleep eludes many of us at one time or another. What can we do to sleep better? Then we also wonder about the dreams we have when we do sleep, what do they mean? Tzivia Gover writes an interesting interactive book, The Mindful Way to a Good Night's Sleep, that can help readers sleep better and discover what their dreams are trying to say.
The Mindful Way to a Good Night's Sleep is divided into three sections: A Good Night's Sleep, Sweet Dreams, and Good Morning. This book has some great quotes on dreamy looking pages, advice on your sleep environment and sleeping, journaling space with some good questions to make you think, great meditation exercises that are truly relaxing, and advice on starting your day off in such a way to have your best day possible. It is a real positive, fun and uplifting book.
I would encourage anyone interested in sleeping better and studying their dreams to read The Mindful Way to a Good Night's Sleep. It is fun, interesting reading and includes exercises in both journaling and meditation that are quite easy to do to help yourself both sleep better and to remember your dreams better. For my Christian readers, some of this book does lean towards Eastern religious philosophy. However, there is still a lot of good information and helpful exercises in this book that make it worthwhile for my Christian readers who want to sleep better and understand their dreams.
I received an electronic copy for review through NetGalley and the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review in exchange for the book.
The Mindful Way to a Good Night's Sleep really wasn't anything I haven't read before. It's a combination of all the articles and other books that have crossed my path in the past couple of years since making sure you are getting enough sleep became popular.
I liked the layout of the book and if this was your first time looking into better sleep this is a great book to start with. The Mindful Way to a Good Night's Sleep lays out all the basics on getting better sleep in helpful little chapters that are easy to read. The changes and improvements are easy to understand and implement too.
Overall this book really wasn't for me, but for someone just starting into the better sleep journey it would be perfect.
Thank you to Net Gallery for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
The aim of this book is to show the reader how to, with the use of some mindfulness techniques, learn to sleep better. It provides some clear instructions on how to wind down, go to bed and fall asleep more mindfully and more efficiently. The parts concerned with falling asleep and waking up are the most interesting by far and contain helpful information. Importantly, the author emphasises that her book is not a step-by-step guide, but, rather, a set of ideas that should help the reader to re-arrange their sleeping patterns.
A large chunk of the book is also devoted to importance of dreams and I have to confess I didn't find it that interesting. While keeping a dream journal may be helpful to some, it isn't for me, and the same goes for attempts at lucid dreaming.
The book looks very pretty, it is very nicely edited and designed. It's definitely a very nice idea for a gift for someone who is interested in more mindful approach to life.
The author’s choice of words is so soothing that I liked reading a few pages before bed. Early on in the book, when faced with prompts to fill in with my thoughts of how I felt about sleeping, I discovered that part of my problem with sleeplessness, is irritation of having to spend too much time in bed; there are so many things to do, and this takes away from them.
With a lot of wonderful tips that I found helpful: yoga poses, relaxation techniques and even the knowledge that really need a new mattress, I’m finding an appreciation in this time well spent than I had before.
