This was an entertaining and heartful novel, and it passed by quickly. Some of the elements of the story felt a little unbelievable, but I enjoyed this coming of age story, and cheered for the character's successes.

The subject matter had real potential for an excellent read. However, I found the details contrived and unbelievable.

Enjoyable albeit slight novel. I liked Laura's narrative the best, although I didn't like her character. I am not sure I believe someone could be able to write beautifully yet speak ungrammatically, but that might take the place of a strong accent, which could seem culturally insensitive.
