This book would be perfect for the class/school library or to read to your child at home.
It is about a little girl looking for God and discovering that He is everywhere. I enjoyed the story which was also very nicely illustrated.

This is a lovely book by Elisabeth Zartl.

‘Where Are You Hiding, God?’ is a beautiful children’s book.

I don’t have my own children but I do work with children and therefore like to keep up to date with new releases. The language in the book is easy for children to understand and I would recommend this book for anyone looking to explain God to a child, or children.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this children’s book.

While this book has lovely illustrations and simple, repetitive phrases, as a Christian who believes that God is with us and His Holy Spirit is given by God to comfort and convict us,the theology of this book promotes and teaches pantheism.
Pantheism is defined in this way:
1. a doctrine that identifies God with the universe, or regards the universe as a manifestation of God.
2.
rare
worship that admits or tolerates all gods.
My personal beliefs taught by the Protestant Christian church are that God created all things, including leaves, but He is above all things and He is the only God. Therefore, I would advise other Christians to read this book and consider its' teachings before purchasing it and sharing it with your young children.
Based on the illustrations and general writing ability, and not on doctrine, I am rating this book 4 **** stars.
I received a copy of this book from netgalley and Westminster John Knox Press in exchange for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own and I was not required to write a positive review.

Sweet book that tries to explain where God is. It is typical for younger kids to have a hard way to grasp the aspect of God being omnipresent—as they are very concrete literal thinkers. This book has simple words and though at a really young stage of age 2 to 4 years old it’s okay to describe God like how this book does.

Darling whimsical illustrations and good way to try tonpictire such a complicated aspect of God.

This is a delightfully illustrated, enjoyable and pleasantly-written story of a girl looking for God. She looks in all kinds of places and there are many wonderfully embellished drawings of critters throughout that were amusing. As I was reading, my girls loved discovering a new one on every page. I found it wonderful that she does in fact get to discover where God is in the end. Check it out with your little ones today.

Where Are You Hiding, God? by Elisabeth Zartl is published by Westminster John Knox Press. This is a lovely rendered easy reading picture book that helps a parent to explain who is God, where is he, to a very young child. It does not discuss Jesus or the Bible, just that God is everywhere and influences everything in our lives from the wind and leaves, to the drops of water in the bathtub. Just be careful to explain that God is NOT these items in our lives. He is not the flowers, or the water, but that that is how he has shown us how good he is by what he has made for us in the world. God is such a difficult concept, and we don't want to mislead our little ones. This book is a good aid to assist us in teaching about who God is to a little child, just this is not the whole picture. Use it as a tool to help the conversation. This honest review is given in exchange for reading the draftgalley for netgalley.

A cute book. I’m not sure what age this is geared toward. The art and language seems geared toward a board book that a pre-reader might look through. Maybe ages 1 through 3.

And it was thankfully empty of any specific fundamentalist or creationist thought. It’s almost written from a deist perspective; or at least one that doesn’t force a specific view of God. It was Thomas Payne who thought that God was revealed through nature. And that’s kind of where this book goes.

Thanks to NetGalley and Westminster John Knox Press for a copy in return for an honest review.

This is a sweet book where a girl plays hide and seek with God. She becomes sad that she cannot find God in her bedroom, bathroom, and the garden. In the garden, she realizes that God is found in everything in creation including within herself. She goes back to find God in her bathroom and in her bedroom mirror (in herself). The book is beautifully illustrated with fuzzy lines and big swirly images. The girl appears very innocent and sweet. Her eyes are closed the entire time, interestingly. A cat and other animals accompany her throughout. This would be a fun book to explain to an older child about God's presence. It would probably be confusing for younger children. A note to parents could help clarify how to explain the message to children but none is included.

I was able to read Unshakeable Trust for free from Netgalley, the publisher and the author for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This story is to remind us, not only children, that God is in all things. The illustrations and the story were delightful to read. Everyone should own a copy of this book.

Pantheism is the belief that the Universe (or Nature as the totality of everything) is identical with divinity, or that everything composes an all-encompassing, immanent god. Pantheists thus do not believe in a distinct personal or anthropomorphic god.

That is all I need to say.

A Special Thank you to Westminster John Knox Press and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

A cute little girl is finding God. She thinks God is playing Hide-n-Seek with her.
She looks everywhere, her dresser, her clothes, her bathroom, even her bathtub, in the garden and the grass.
But God is seen nowhere.
Sad, she sits under a tree and realises where God really is.
All kids come across this question as to where is God and why can't they see God... This book answers the question very nicely. Must read!
A very lovely and simply sweet yet brilliant story. A perfect bedtime or anytime read.

Where Are You Hiding God? is a simple story to help children understand that God is everywhere. A young girl looks everywhere for God, in her room, the bathroom and the garden. She realizes that God is everywhere - in the flowers, grass, water and in her. A simple story with beautiful illustrations. I read this to my Sunday School class (ages 4 to 6) and they caught on right away. A good story to use with young children at church or in the home.

A little girl looks high and low trying to find God in her world. She rifles through her dresser in her bedroom trying to unmask Him. Is He between her pants and her socks? No... He's not there. He must be in the bathroom. Maybe He's hiding in the bathtub under her washcloth or rubber duckie! No... no sign of Him there. She proceeds into her garden and tries to locate Him in the grass? Uh Uh... no luck. Is He next to the flowers? Perhaps flying with the dragonflies? No luck at all!! Oh my, she can't locate Him anywhere. Where in the world could He be hiding she wants to know?

Disappointed and discouraged she sits under a tree and one single leaf flutters down on her carried by the wind and she has a eureka moment.....

"There you are! I've found you!" Did she truly discover God do you think?

She retraces her tracks back to the garden, her bathroom, and her bedroom and it's like scales have fallen off of her eyes and she can see Him in everything around her!!! She envisions Him clearest when she looks at herself in her mirror in her bedroom. "You are here and you are always inside me." What a stunning revelation she happens upon. He is indeed with her always!

This charming little book has beautiful illustrations that enrich the narrative greatly. The message instills in the wee readers that God truly is there... tucked cozy and snug inside their heart.

I received this book free from NetGalley and publisher Westminster John Knox Press.

This is a stunning picture book. Elizabeth Zartl's exquisite illustrations are full of colours, patterns and curves, and beautifully reinforce the simple storyline - that God is everywhere. Follow a little girl as she searches her home and outdoors before realising that God is everywhere she has looked. Gaze your fill upon the warm images, and enjoy discussing the story with your young child. There is also fun to be had chatting about the animals, plants and household objects that decorate the story.

Highly recommended.

*Thanks to NetGalley and Westminster John Knox Press for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.* 'Where Are You Hiding, God?' is a delightful picture book that introduces young children to the idea of God's omnipresence. Zartl has crafted a simple story about a young girl searching for God, as if playing hide and seek, as she looks in her room, the bathroom and the garden before discovering that God is everywhere - 'in the leaf touching me...' and 'in the flowers and in the speedy dragonflies...' The simple narrative is accompanied by whimsical illustrations that will delight young children and parents alike. This picture book would be a good resource for a Sunday School or kindergarten classroom to introduce the idea of God's presence being all around.
